Hello, welcome to my wig setup, uh, hello, everyone and welcome to a new video today. I am doing something very different, but i hope it will be helpful. Uh today we're gon na be talking about the basics of wig styling wig care, wig, stuff uh. This video is actually suggested by samantha. Thank you. Samantha samantha asked if i could do a video where i talk about how to trim style and brush a wig which um i i realize i could do that. My wig expertise is very limited. I own a lot of wigs, but i i don't really know much about them. In my personal opinion, i'm really not the biggest wig expert by any means, but i do know the very basics. You know how to trim how to style, how to how to brush a wig. So knowing that this would be a video that some of you may find helpful um, that's what we're going to be doing today, i have my i have my wig set up. I'Ve got all my wig styling tools. I got some wigs to show you stuff with, and this is very awkward, i'm so sorry um, but yeah. Today, i'm going to basically be walking you guys through um how to do wig basics, yay, exciting stuff. So, let's get into it all right, so the first thing we're going to be talking about today is um how to brush a wig. Before we start, i'm just going to show you guys kind of my little setup here. So i have the wig on an actual wig head and i have two little sewing needles poked into the wig on the front, the two of them right here just to anchor the waist that doesn't um slide back as i'm working on it. Then this wig head has a little hole in the bottom so that it can pop on to i'll just show you guys hold on this little wig headstand that just clamps the side of the table. So you just take the wig and you just slide it on there and you're all ready to go so. The first thing we're going to do is we're going to take our wig comb or wig brush. So i have a nice wig brush here. I also have a wig comb this one i got on ebay and this one came free with a lace front wig that i got um. You can find these obviously on ebay or at a specialized wig store like arda wigs. You want this to obviously be like a wider tooth comb, because that's gon na be better for the wig, so i'm going to use this to start off with the other thing that helps when detangling a wig. Is this mane and tail detangler this one? I just got from arda wigs canada. You can find them at beauty, supply stores or just generally online. I'M sure you could find it on somewhere like amazon, it's meant to detangle horsetails, but it also works really well for detangling wigs. It is a silicone spray. So you spray it on the wig and it coats each of the fibers in silicone, so they can more easily kind of slide off of one another, and this just makes detangling wigs much easier. So if you have a wig, that's super super knotted. I recommend, taking this just spraying it on there and then going at it using the techniques that i'm going to show you. One thing that you want to make sure is: if you have like a hardwood floor or any sort of hard surface flooring, if you spray this against that, it will make the floor really slippery. So watch out for that. If you do get this on the floor, just make sure to mop it up afterwards, so that you don't have a super slippery floor. So when brushing a wig, i like to start at the very bottom and then gradually work my way up. So what i do is, i just take a bit of the hair in my hand like that, and i just work the comb through it like so so, as you can see, the comb is going through. It quite well, there's no real issues. So as long as that's happening, i then go up a little bit further and work the comb down through more of the hair and then just gradually work. My way up until you get obviously towards the top. That'S just kind of the basics of combing, a wig. So now for instances where there's kind of bigger knots in the wig, what i do is, i do the spidering technique. Spidering is basically where you pick apart a knot little by little until you can easily comb through it. So, as you can see, it's a little bit messy it's getting a little bit knotted in this particular area, so i just take it all. Apart like this gradually until i'm able to brush my hand through, i can't quite brush my hand through it yet so i just pick that, apart until not quite okay, there we go so now. I can finally get my hand through it without getting caught on any knots. So now that's happening. I can then go through just like i said, go through with the comb start at the bottom and then gradually work my way up until we get to the top. So i like to work in each little section of the wig as i go so i'll start in one little section i'll go through pulling apart the knots and then going through and combing it. This keeps it from being super overwhelming. Obviously, you don't want to focus on the entire wig at once, so i'm just going to rinse and repeat pulling apart the knots and then combing through the wig starting at the bottom and working my way up and now we are all good to go. The wig is all detangled and combed out, and it's ready to be worn so now that we have our wig all combed out, detangled ready to go we're going to move on to trimming the wig. Now, for this, i'm just using these sewing scissors that i got from the dollar store. These are quite dull, just because i've had them for so many years. I recommend getting actual wig scissors, which you can find online from companies like arda wigs. I have yet to upgrade to actual wig cutting scissors. I should definitely do that, but for today i'll just be using these scissors that i have on hand, and then you also want to make sure that you have a piece of cardboard or newspaper or something basically to catch all the hair. That'S going to be falling down if you can cut this like over a garbage that also helps too just making sure that you don't get the fibers everywhere so for this example, we are going to be cutting the fringe here. So what i like to do is i first like to figure out how short i want it. I just take the hair in my hands. Hold it a little bit above the approximate length that i want to trim the wig, then i take my scissors and pointing them upwards. You want to make sure that you always point them upwards. I cut into the wig just like that, using the very end of the scissors just like this, this is going to ensure that the hair doesn't look too choppy when you cut it, it's going to make it look more natural and less kind of chunky, and so I just gradually work my way through the bangs. Just cutting upwards also be careful not to cut your your hands and that's why i like to hold the hair a little bit above, where i'm actually cutting it and just gradually work my way around there, all right. So once i've done my first little run through, i just pull on the hair a little bit just to get any little bits of hair to fall out. And then i like to just take a look at it see if it's all even see if i'm happy with it, there are some hairs that are a little bit longer so i'll go in and just cut those here. It'S looking a little bit long. So i'll just go in there and snip it a little bit more. You can also just comb it out to get any little bits of hair out and also to check the levels of the hair and i'm pretty happy with that um. So that is more or less how you would cut a wig. So next we're gon na be talking about styling, wigs, i'm gon na be going over teasing, spraying and spiking. I feel like those are kind of the main pillars of wig styling. I will say that i don't have a lot of experience with like really intense wig styling um, so i can really only kind of go over these basic steps, but hopefully this will be helpful. So i have my very disheveled tracer wig, to show you guys as an example um, so we're going to first talk about teasing teasing. A wig is basically when you back comb it in order to give it volume. So it's good for things like spiking or, if you're wanting to give more volume to your bangs or like the base of the wig. That'S basically what you would do to achieve that, so we're going to just tease a little section of the wig. So you take the portion of hair that you want to tease. You take your comb and you literally just do this and then once you let it go. It stays like that. That is basically what teasing is now. Obviously, it can look really messy once you've actually teased it, so once you've done the teasing to actually give it, the volume you're then going to want to kind of go over it and make sure that the outside of it looks neat. So i just do this by gently combing it just to clean it up a little bit and that's kind of that's kind of the gist of how you uh clean it up. Then you can go back and tease a little bit more clean it up a little bit, and now you have this nice piece of hair sticking out. That'S kind of the general thing that you're going to want to do to give it volume so to keep it in place. We'Re then going to spray it. The main product that most cosplayers swear by is got to be hair spray um. So that's definitely the one that i recommend so we're just going to go and we're just going to spray this piece of hair like so now when you actually spray the hair, little beads will form um on the wig from the actual hairspray. So i like to go in and just slick it all down, so that you don't have those beads showing then i'm going to spray it under there slick it down again and that's just kind of the gist of spraying. Your wig. Now we're going to talk about spiking so for spiking i use the got to be glued spiking glue. I'Ll just show you guys what it looks like it's pretty gross looking. So this is just like a goop that you get. Oh, oh, no! It'S it's spilling everywhere. I'M an idiot. You work it in through your through your hand, to make it into kind of a glue, mmm delicious. Then you're gon na go and you're just gon na work it through the tip of the spike to give it a more kind of spiky finish. But you basically just do that. I'M gon na go wash my hands because they are disgusting and then i'm just gon na clip this. I have a little bit of extra hair here at the top just gon na clip that off so once. That'S all dried and everything you will have a nice kind of crisp tip to your spike. This is a very messy spike. I apologize um. This is just to give you guys an idea of what to do. Obviously, if i was spiking this for real, it would look a lot better than this, but this is just kind of a test piece to show you guys. So i i didn't make it like the best looking um, but hopefully this is good enough to give you guys an idea of what you should do um, but anyway, that is our finished spike, um all right. So there, okay, oh gosh! I have hair there's hair everywhere. I feel like this was an incredibly awkward tutorial video i apologize, but hopefully you guys get the gist of what i'm trying to show you guys. Those are kind of the basics of how to brush trim and style wigs. Despite this being a very awkward video um, i hope this was helpful for you guys, if you guys have any styling tips or wig care tips, or what have you that you would like to share please by all means leave them in the comments we can chat Down there about wigs, if you guys are new to the channel and you'd like to see more cosplay related videos, i put out new videos every sunday morning and it would be great to have you guys here so feel free to subscribe. If you'd like to see more, thank you, as always for hanging out with me, really appreciate it. I will see you guys all next time, but until then panda faces, please be sure to take care bye. You

Ave Vee: I’ve been cosplaying for eight years and I still don’t know how to do this lol

ChameleonHRT: You can also use Tacky Glue to style the spikes instead of the spiking glue.

Kittygirl: If your scissors are dull try cutting tin foil! it works really well for me to resharpen scissors

It was I! DIO!!: me who failled to style my kokichi wig yesterday :

Sosa_Losa: Wigs were always my weak point in cosplay *so this is perfect-*

Kait: Hi Anya! Weird request, but could you maybe do a video on what you need to know to cosplay from certain franchises, or the stigmas around not knowing enough about certain characters or fandoms at conventions?

Bara Queen: Maybe you could do a video on wig spiking for anime characters with spikes hair

Erin Longcor: I saw the thumbnail and thought she was doing a wig Neopolitan style! I’m doing a Neo cosplay right now and I’ve been trying to find a good wig styling tutorial! Thank you!

evie_maee: if you want to cut a fringe while wearing a wig (which i always do, i find it helps to make sure it’s exactly where you want it) i really recommend little thread scissors! they’re usually super sharp and because they have a tiny blade it’s really easy to be super precise with your snips! i have a fringe in my actual hair and i always use thread scissors to trim it because it makes it so much easier than trying to manhandle a massive pair of scissors right next to my face lol

Sarah Olechowski: I've never, ever heard of that mane n tail detangler, but I'm really thankful that you mentioned that, Anya! Thank you, that'll come in handy for my longer wigs!

PinkGhosty13: Thank you so much for making this, Anya! My first wig, that was for my Fluttershy cosplay, was a matted mess by the time I was done with it and I had no idea how to fix it. This will come in handy.

janet snakehole: just as i was about to style my first wig! thank you! <33

RC Dragons: As an equestrian it was so wild to see mane and tail come up in a wig video XD

Cheese_on_toast: That you so much!I’m currently styling a wig for Emma (tpn) this helped so much!

emo cat: Me styling my Chiaki wig and failing MISERABLY:

Purple_diino: I am going to purchase a wig for a Monokuma and Chihiro Fujisaki cosplay, the reviews say it’s great quality but a LOT of styling will be required. Thanks for the help!

biggitybop: Ok this is ✨amazing✨ Im planning to buy a couple of wigs soon for some cosplays and this will be super helpful

Montana Morgan: Omg the silicone spray!! I used it for the first time last year and didn't put a towel down in my hardwood my living room was a slip and slide for MONTHS lol

M.C. Lizard: This was sooo helpful, I haven’t ever needed to do anything crazy with my wigs and whenever I look up tutorials they’re kinda complex, don’t show the whole process, and are just not as relatable. Seeing you do the basics with a non hyper pro perspective was so nice, I felt like I could actually do everything Thank you!!

Aseony: *My Chiaki wig that I accidentally cut too short since my wig head is very different from my actual head shape and I didnt realize it would be that short on my head:* I’m in✨pain✨

Fai Kul: It's almost 1am here and I'm stuck with homework :") Aaa I'm so glad you posted! Thank you for this vid +_+ it is very helpful since I have new a wig coming!

Natalie’s Artistic Corner: Yay!!! I’ve been looking all over YouTube for a video like this! I just got my first wig! Thank you!

L: Thank you so much! I recently bought a wig for a Mary Saotome cosplay, and this helped me so much ❤️❤️

XouMuse: Oooh thank you for the teasing advice, I didn't know that!! If you wanted maybe similar video ideas/other topics, maybe talking about how to clean a wig could be interesting? No pressure though, great videa as always!

Peanut: I'm about to purchase a long white wig for my d&d tiefling, this will definitely come in handy!

Kaz: omg this absolutely amazing! this is so so so helpful! thank you so much Anya!!!

Abby Gale: Thank you so much for this tutorial! This video was well made and easy to understand :)

child of the living GOD: This is super helpful, thank you for making this video!

LazerDash: Do you know how to comb out the spike, without messing up the wig? Personally I don't have a wig yet, but I am planning to get one for cosplay, and I don't know if you comb out the spike if it messes up anything.. Sorry, I am pretty much a newbie!

Tina Farina: Hello :) it wasn't an awkward video, maybe you feel like that because it was different from your usual and you had to go out of your comfort zone. Thank you for that hope you are feeling well and that you are kind to your self

Lord JS: Very sweet casual video. Thanks for this, Anya. You're funny and awesome.

Max Sharkio: Yay! Wig styling! I really needed this!!!! Thanks anya

A the swagmaster: I wish I had seen this before I butchered my monomi wig trying to make bangs

_KookieDraws _: I know I'm late but honestly this is one of the only tutorials thats helped me, it made everything so much easier to understand tysm

PiperC0zplayz: I’m a new cosplayer, and I have a lot of trouble with wigs, but this helps so much! Ty!!

frootloopdude: Maybe do a video on wigs for characters that have shaved sides or shorter hair?

TFaithMOMO: I got my first wig for a Halloween costume a couple months back and the bangs were super long so I ended up trimming them on my bathroom counter with the wig on my head I’m still finding tiny pink hairs everywhere

Sakura_Nanamine: I’m gonna try cosplaying Hu Tao from Genshin Impact this Halloween, and I’ve never cosplayed before so I thought I should start figuring how to do this kinda stuff beforehand, lol

Richard Vicentino: I am a new cosplayer and I have never styled a wig. My other cosplays all had straight wigs that didn't really need styling until I got my Junko wig from Danganronpa. If you don't know what she looks like, she has really crazy hair. (You can look it up if you want) So I went out, bought got2b and a teasing brush, and started. The first ponytail looked amazing, but the second turned out really bad and I am still trying to fix it and I don't know what to do. Should I wash it out? If so, how do I do that?

catherine g.: i’ve gotten all my wig brushes/combs off amazon, they’ll probably be much cheaper there

ry3. 🍄: Hello! Can you make a tutorial on how to tease bangs? I might get cosplay this year for Christmas and it would be helpful if I knew how to do that lol

Salem: i more recently got into cosplay needed to learn how to tease my wigs but all the other videos were sort of confusing, so thank you

Gh0st!!_c0s: love the tips! thank you! will be using!

Aced Xx: Thank youuu- I’m getting a wig soon so I’m just here like how do style-? And so this was perfect for me lol (I’m getting a long pink wig-)

Mandy Gilchrist: Thank you for this. It has given me confidence to try stuff- just ordered a polystyrene head

When Doves Cry: Im planning to make a Kakyoin wig to double for my school spirit days, for costume parties, and halloween. I hope it goes well.

piperspantry_: OMG this is so helpful! Thank you so much

fireluxx: Thanks for this. QT what kind of clamps are those for your backdrop?

Liv: I started cosplaying and your one of my biggest inspirations and my favourite cosplayer! :D

Angela Glanzer: Where did you get the wig head stand? I've been looking for something similar.

Dakota Ford: Wanna always always ALWAYS make sure you wash your wigs before you wear them. Washing the wig takes out a lot of the shine it also makes it easier to style. But if you want the shine don't wash it that much but you should still wash it like after cons bc you don't know what could be in your wig

Danijela K: Maybe I should have watched this before attempting to style my wig today

The Holy Sys: Very helpful, i have a wig thats kinda hard to tame, its my furst one and i love this!!!!!!!!

Cat Vivanco: Thank you for this!

Violet_jay: I’m here for my Luna Lovegood wig. HOPEFULLY IT WILL WORK I’ll edit it if it did lol Edit: I’m too lazy to do this

local.: I’m just starting out on cosplay so this is perfect.

muff1n_. c0s: Whdhsvwohdhsbwoth THANK YOU SO MUCH!! You are so awesome, this was a big help!!

Sharon Park: This video was super helpful! Is it easy to wash out got2b products if you make a mistake on the wig?

Birds Vs Phantoms: This helped a lot!

M Q: I'm only a casual cosplayer and got a couple nicer wigs for my first full convention, so this was VERY helpful as I got one that is very long and was so afraid to do much to it... but your video made me feel like I can try even without fancy tools since I'm not going for uber fancy - I just want to trim the bangs that are too long and in my eyes, and maybe eventually some length if it proves hard to keep from constantly tangling and too weighty.

Rat Itoule: if you haven't already, can you teach us how to wash wigs? Thank you! :)

Will0w Tr3e: The fact that’s she has the pink version of the wig I’m gonna get for my fem!Ranboo cosplay is very strange to me idk why

Lemohn The Cat: How do you get rid of the shine, or, make it look real? I tried to use baby powder but it didn't really work

Horizen Cosplay: Thankyou this is just what I needed!

꧁ αиιмє мυffιи꧂: A tip: if you wanna brush Easily in a *lazier or easier way* you can put water on a comb or hair brush it’ll make it easier:)

Marigold: I kind of regret buying the first wig I got I wanted to cosplay Mikan from danganronpa, but oh my gosh the wig I got is SO thick and heavy I'm so nervous about cutting the bangs considering I'm not at all patient and don't want to really "style" the wig Thank you for this video though! It's made me look forward to cutting it a little bit

Enjoy a sip of Jesus: Bruh, my mom used that detangler all the time for her hair, used to swear by it

Clare W-O: i'm gonna style my ibuki wig probably this week so here's to hoping i dont screw it up

Fluffyemperor: I think a lot of people are worried that when you brush a wig you'll accidentally pluck it bare xD don't worry, you won't. Random hairs will probably fall out every now and again, but you'd be hard pressed to ruin a wig with one styling.

Sarah The Rat: i haven’t even watched this all yet but tysm ! i got my first wig for my birthday yesterday

Weeb-Chan: So I am thinking of becoming a cosplayer. I don't know how to do a lot of this type of stuff and I don't know where to start. Where would you recommend to start with the basics such as Makeup, Wigs/Wig supplies, Contacts, and "costume" supplies? I don't have a lot of money and I don't watch or know a lot of animes, shows or video games that people commonly cosplay from. I am in the midst of watching Naruto, I love Star Wars and Disney. I watch The 100, Stranger things and that is about it. I like to play Fallout but video games aren't my favorite (and I don't own an Xbox or any other gaming system). What TV shows or animes do you recommend to watch??

ConnorWentHome: I'm going to buy a wavy light pink wig to cosplay kuriko (my pfp character) this will be definitely helpful, because I've never touched a wig before.

Zee H: Do you have any tips for combing curly/wavy wigs because my wig’s curls are slowly disappearing

I need therapy lmao: the fact i use some of the wig brushing techniques for my own hair

Bugothy: You uploaded the video right as I was styling my Uruaka wig

Gappy: This is a nice relaxed vid (*´ω`*)

Dahlia Robertson: can you do a video on how do de-shine a wig?

soup.scarlet: I know I could have used this before I made my mikuo wig CRUSTY and CHOPY

super nova cos: me being an equestrian- that mane and tail stuff works so much better than like normal hair detangler but idk if i would use it on your own hair lol

[Panta-Popcicles]: I can finally style my Chiaki wig-

Kevin Greene: A word of advice: look into fortified shampoo for fast hair growth.

ultimate otaku??: Are you doing a Neo cosplay from RWBY? the wig reminded me of Neo lol

maplelove1422: Is there a way to get the bangs straight? My wig’s bangs do the side sweep like yours does at 6:29 I want it a little more straight but it’s not working when I try to straighten. I’m scared I’ll accidentally fry it

princesspinkky: Just wondering if anyone knew if an actual hair brush/comb would work on a wig?

•ᴛɪʀᴇsᴏᴍᴇᴍᴀʀᴜ•: Question: I live in a different country and I wanna know if I were to buy the same item but from a different store will it still work?

Millie: I'm so happy that I have friends in the comments who also butchered their first wig styling

Ash Rousseau: Any tips on how to make the wig look fluffier?

i i C x m e t i i: At this point it’s getting scary as I scroll through your channel all the videos I see relates to stuff that happened today ‍♂️ like you showed cursed figures that I saw on amazon now I just took that exact wig off 2 seconds ago (the pink and black one-)

Hu Tao: Anya- posts wig tutorial Rwby fans- Neo???

Loki: Hey! Strange question: Do we need the spike glue / the got2b spike glue stuff? Cause I don't have that but I have the rest.

nicofreak0: I have the same pink comb, it came with one of my wigs

Sophie Lange: can you use a wet brush?

Savvy Vee: My Momma uses that detangler on my Real hair... thanks for the helpful video though

Cottagecore Lesbian: This girl is the human embodiment of a panda she looks so mutch like a panda it's crazy!

Sud ;): What do you do if your wig is braided like it’s parted in two braids do I take out the braids or do I just leave it and style the bangs?! And do I take the braids out to was the wig or do I just leave it?

Fem Foem: IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE

Tҽɾυƚҽɾυ Hαɳαɱυɾα: My Teruteru wig is just fluffy, but I’d like to add little swirlies on it. It’s not heat resistant so I can’t use a straightening iron. help?

bee!: Is it fine to wash a wig? Just wondering as I'm gonna start cosplaying soon :)

Haylee said so: I’ve cosplayed for 4 years and still don’t understand wigs

Kaeleigh Gourieux: Can you do a video on how to wash wigs & how too?
