It has been requested many times by our subscribers.

Using the proper bobby pins is the foundation of any good hairstyle. We get our bobby pins at a Sally's Beauty Supply Store. They are great and last use after use, compared to conventional Drug store bobby pins. In this video I show you a few methods on how to use bobby pins! :)

Enjoy and don't forget to leave a comment :) xoxo Mimi

You are wasting on my cake, you add smell. I can't replace e hi, my beautiful friends. How are you doing it's me me here today and today we're actually going back to basics, so today's tutorial is actually sort of a tutorial on how to use bobby pins. Just regular bobby pins - and you may be thinking well, that's such a simple thing and that's such a basic thing. Why do we need a tutorial for that? But in my recent few tutorials I've been getting so many requests from girls asking me to do this how-to. So I thought why not and in the meantime maybe I'll learn something new as well. The reason it is important to know the basics is because, if you're doing a hairstyle - and you don't know the basics, you're never gon na be able to succeed in it. And these are just gon na start flying out I mean, if you don't, pin it properly. You'Re, just gon na lose this style in the matter of two three minutes. So it is. The most important thing is to know the basics and then from there you can learn an advance in any way you want for the longest time. I thought I didn't know how to use bobby pins, but it wasn't me it was the bobby pins. So I always tell anyone who asked me is that the most important thing is that you have good quality bobby pins. I used to buy bobby pins, just a drugstore at Shoppers. Drug Mart is what we have here in Canada and they are the worst quality ever. I will show you a comparison of my the bobby pins that I'm using now and the bobby pin that I have from sharpers. I don't know, I think it's a brand called goodie or something this is just a bobby pin after one use. It'S just unbelievable. So you pin the hair and then you pull it out and it's open, so you cannot ever use it because this is loose. This is garbage pretty much, but these I've been using for so long and actually lay up on these at home. I believe Sally beauty, supply store, I'm not sure what brand it is, but they always have them and it's really inexpensive. So that's the ones we found. I mean if you do know what different brands do. Let us know in the info box, I mean in the comment below but um ones that have been working for me. Aleli would love them. We tell everyone, we know all our friends about these because you can reuse them many many times. I'Ve had these for months. Actually stole these from my life, I'm too lazy to go and buy them, but anyways. This is this is where we got the bobby pins that we use in our tutorials they're amazing. You can reuse them so many times and they don't give you any trouble now. Let'S get to the techniques and there's only a few different techniques that you can use the bobby pins for and um I'll show you right now now, if you're like me, this is probably how you use a bobby pin, so you grab a pop bobby pin. You go like this and then you open it with your teeth and then you slide it in your hair, but the reality is you actually don't have to do that and the only reason I do it is because it's just you know it's a force of habit. I don't know think about it. When I do it and then I catch myself or you guys will come and you'll be like. Oh, don't do it don't open the pin with your teeth, but you actually don't need to open it at all and that will actually obviously preserve the quality of the bobby pin for longer. Now what you can do, let's say my bangs are in my face. So I have side bangs and I just want to pin them all you do is take the pin, you don't need to put in your mouth or do anything with it and all you do is just you slide it in. So you slide it in and it holds the hair and then what you can do I mean it doesn't really show the pin not much, but if you want you can bring the hair behind over it and that's it. You know, that's that's what you have. You pinned it it's safe and secure. You can go about your day now what you can also do if you do want to open it. I mean that works too. So you just open the pin, but it's gon na ruin it faster. I guess, and then you know you just slide it in and that way it shows more as opposed to just sliding in it close and then again you can just bring the hair over and you don't really see that pin sticking through now anytime we're doing some Kind of a hairstyle, it's usually pinning the braid or pinning the twist. So, for example, if I were to do it like a quick pin right now, I mean a quick twist, so let's say I twisted it and I want to pin it again. You can just just see I'm not opening the pin at all, I'm just sliding it in and just take the pin. You slide it in and it's there and if you want to use one more just to make sure it's safe and secure there. You can put another one over and again I wasn't opening it at all and that's it. You'Ve pinned it. So that's one of the ways to use the bobby pins again. If you want to be like me and open it with your teeth, which I'm gon na try not to do anymore, you can go ahead and do that. But you really don't have to do that now. There'S another technique to using a bobby, pin and I'll show. You that in a second and it's sort of a half, half-up half-down or any time you're doing a body, you would use the same kind of technique. So I'll just show you on this sort of hairstyle, so you just grab a section of hair and you twist it now. All you need to do is with your pins. You need to secure this part, so you have a half up half down haircut. So what you do is you take the pin right and you sort of insert it in this part, and then you lift it. So you lift it, you feel your sculpt and then you push it down and then you can take another pin. I mean it's safe at the moment, so it's safe with one thing, but I would be still freaking out that it's going to fall out. So I probably use two pins, so you can take another pin insert it in this part and then you lift it and twist it back so now I know for sure this hairstyle is not going anywhere and I only have two pins in there, and this is A perfect hairstyle that you can just use a work. You know if your hair is in your face or if you're at school, it's just pretty health up half down. It looks really nice when your hair is wavy and um. This is how - and this is the same thing you would do if you, you know, if you had a bun, and you know I'm just going to quickly show you in my hairs, you're gon na look weird right now, but if you were doing some sort of A bun and you had let's say elastic in there and you just needed to pin sections. That'S the same thing you would do. You would insert the pin in the hair and then sort of twisted there and secure it and lock it in there. And you know you would do the same thing around the bun. But what I'm trying to say is that it's the same kind of a technique that you're using you're, not just lighting it in you're sliding it in the hair and then you're going like this. So I'll just show you on one part of my hair, so you're sliding it in and then you would go like this, so they sort the main few techniques that I use to pinning my hair. When I do hairstyles, I hope you found them helpful. Definitely leave a comment or video response if you have any other ways to use bobby pins or let me know if there's any other amazing brands of bobby pins that I should know about, but up. Thank you so much for tuning in have a wonderful day and I'll see you guys in the next tutorial bye. You are at the time your inspiration to this round. You

Mara Iorga: Hi Mimi i just wanted ti say that I observed that you insert the bobby pin in with the wavy part up... My advice is to put them with the wavy part down because that's specially formed to grip your hair and pin it in place. Ps: Love your videos!

Any special tips for girls with really thick hair? thanks a lot :)

KC Y: I have trouble putting bobby pins in a bun

Jay Emm: Hi Mimi/Leyla, I love your videos and had a question. Sometimes when I do hairstyles that require bobby pins I usually end up using TONS of them and at some point they tend to fall out of place or slip out I find myself slipping them back in. How can I fix this??? I hate using a lot and ending up with none :/

Renzé: Hi! I love this video, it is explained very well! The only thing is I found it very difficult to see what you were doing because your pin blende in so much with your hair (not a bad thing). But, for the purpose of the tutorials, do you think it would be possible to use a bright coloured pin so we can see the work you are doing? Thanks a bunch, keep making the fantastic videos!

Hannah Knight: Really helpful! Btw, the song in the background is Icing by Charity Vance, I went to high school with her and she's super sweet. She actually wrote that song about her best friend who also went there. :) So awesome that her music is being heard all over the place now, I'll have to share the video with her!
