Ballet Bun Long Hair

Tutorial on how to make a ballet bun for girls with long hair

Hi, my name is Lauren, i'm with momentum. This is lily and we're going to show you how to do a ballet bun today. First of all, we're going to make sure that we have nice wet hair to start off with, because when your hair is not wet, then it's not going to hold very well. So let's first get some water, especially on the front of the hair, and you want to kind of extend the water down into the ends of the hair. You have something to work with, and Lily has really straight hair and it's also very silky, so you're going to also want to add some spray gel or some hairspray to help hold the ballet and ponytail. So this is step one all the way through. Then you want to take a brush and smooth the hair out with the brush making sure to get the the hair gel and the water all the way through the hair and since Lily has very long hair. This part might take a little bit of time. Okay, the next part - and you can either create your ponytail from sitting or you can flip your head over since I'm demonstrating I'm just going to do it from sitting. If Lily was doing it on her own, she could flip her head over and she could find the perfect spot for the ballet button. So what you want to do is you want to smooth the hair slowly gathering it. In your other hand, till you gather all the hair together, okay and then you want to lift it up to make sure that it meets at the crown of your head. So the crown of your head is on the top of your head and then the crown would be just about right back here. Okay and then you want to grab a ponytail holder. I secure the hair tightly with the ponytail holder. Now, as you can see, there's some bumps to her hair. You can it's not a problem. You can just use the smoothie brush and smooth it out, because her bun is actually going to cover the bumps all the way back like this. Now we're going to put some hair pins in and there's three insure pins and there's one inch our pants. The three inch hair pins tend to work well on here that has more body to it and that has more texture and then the one-inch ones work better. On silky hair that could be longer or shorter. Now you have your ponytail. You want to twist your ponytail with both hands. Then you want to turn the ponytail with the twist keeping that twist nice and tight and lay it on the head. While you lay on the head, add bobby pins, we're using hair pins today, so what you want to do is you want to take the the hairpin and you want to stick it through the bun and then carefully? Stick it into the hair, the smooth hair and push it underneath that way it will secure the bun so go all the way around. Stick it into the bun through the bun like this, and then you want to push it into the hair. That'S just smooth on your head and you want to push it underneath the bun to hold the bun hair in place. You want to make sure that when you push the hair pin in that it's comfortable on your head, if it feels like it's poking, you then take it out and try again until it doesn't poke you anymore, just want to go all the way around once you Have secured all the hair on into your bun, you might want to just add a few extra hairpins to make your bun even more secure, and then once you get that, then you want to use the spray gel again and kind of brush up any of the Whispies whispies, our hair, that is just kind of flying off your head or hair, that's around the frame of your head and that might be shorter and you just kind of want to spray it down. So you have a nice smooth look and you can even spray on the bun too. So when you're done with that, you just want to take a hair net. You can buy these at the drugstore Beauty Supply Store. They come three in a packet. You want to make sure you match the color of the hairnet to your natural hair color. So if you have dark hair, you want to get a dark hair net. You would not want to get like a light brown or blonde, because then it's not going to look natural and you just want to put it around the bun one time and then you twist it and you put it around the bunt again and if you have A smaller bun, you might even do it three times, but okay, so we're done now and that's how you make a ballet bun.
