#howto #beachwaves #hairhacks

Hey, what's up guys welcome back today, i'm going to show you how i curl my hair and give myself just easy everyday beach waves. This really isn't much different from the last video that i filmed about a year and a half ago, it's just the length of my hair is different, but it's pretty much the same. I did switch out a couple of things, so i thought i'd share that with you. This is one of the biggest requests that i get, so i felt that i would show you what i do so i hope you like it. Please subscribe and let's get started so i'm first going to start out with just brushing my hair. This is a wide tooth comb. I got this from sally beauty supply like a long time ago, so i'm just gon na brush through my hair. I get a lot of questions on what i ask for with my cut, so i do have three little side piece: extensions on each side of my hair right here is one of them, and this just fills in any broken pieces. I have up front. I just ask for a blunt cut, so any layers you see in my hair - that's just broken hair, that's growing out, so i don't ask for any layers or anything like that. So all i ask for is a blunt straight across cut and then vicky who does my extensions here she'll make that the same length when i'm looking to the side so that when i'm forward - and i put my hair behind my ears - it's still the same length. So it is technically a little bit longer in the front with the extensions. So what i do is just section it off. In half like this i'll use a scrunchie or a hair, clip and i'll pull this over to the side, and then i have these little clips from dry bar. I'M gon na go right above the ear i feel like when my hair is shorter. I do less sections i'll probably just do two and split this in half horizontally, but now that i got more hair, that's longer i'll do three sections and i also get a lot of questions on what i do with the back. I pretty much get the back hair while i'm doing the sides - and i don't really feel like i have to go in and particularly focus on the back hair. So then i'll go in and protect my hair with a heat protectant spray. My favorite is the paul mitchell hot off the press, spray i've been using this for years and i actually need to get more. This is almost out, so i just go in and lightly spray this on my hair from far away. You don't want to saturate the hair with this, because you don't want it to be wet. You still want it to be dry to the touch when you go in with your hot tulle, i'm going to go in with my curling wand, so i for years, was using the t3 interchangeable barrel wand. But i stopped using that - and i got this one because my hair stylist used this one. I just loved how my hair looked every time. I left the salon. So this is the ghd curve and it is a one and a quarter barrel. So it's just a little bit bigger than what i was using before i still go in with my flat iron. Afterwards, you don't have to do that. I got a lot of comments on how i took out so much curl when i go in with my flat iron and that's because that's how i like it, i like it to look like i kind of just slept on my hair and woke up with it. Like that, i always over curl my hair and i feel like i need to go in with a flat iron, so i'm just sharing how i do it if this isn't your vibe and like what you want to do totally fine, but i'm just sharing it with You how i do it so i'm going to brush that through. I always start at the back and i just grab a chunk of hair like this. Let me get that extension piece out. That'S about a good size and i only do one to two bends in the hair and i keep a good section of it out. So i'm going to put this in the front make sure the clip goes in the front i'm going to curl away. I pretty much do all the way from my face. Take it here, pull wrap it around itself and pull straight down the entire time, i'm keeping this curling iron straight up and down i'm not turning to the side or anything and i'm keeping it all very straight. Curling back and then twisting it back around itself, so you know how like, when you curl your hair, you curl it back one also uncurling it and then pulling it straight down. Curl it back, pull curl it back, uncurl uncurl straight down! Now you want to be pretty quick with it because, as you can see, i did just get like a little bend in here and that's something that i find i end up doing, which is also why going in with a flat iron later ends up helping me Out, but just try to be quick with it. One of the things i learned from a hairstylist one time was not to let it sit on your hair. So when you're ironing your clothes, you wouldn't just let the iron just sit on your clothes, because it's gon na fry, your clothes. So it's the same thing with your hair. You can go up in your heat. I was told as long as you're continuously moving it throughout your hair, not letting it just sit on the hair to fry it off. So this one, this piece, i'm just gon na - do like a little bend just like that. Just so it's going away from the hair um. I feel like this piece. You don't even really see so. I'M gon na put all of this to the back and let it cool and take down the next section, starting at the bottom of the ear, and going to like right above my eyebrow area here, clip this over grab the heat protectant spray brush that through make Sure it's all totally dry before going in with the heat, starting from the back curling away and uncurling curling away uncurling, and going straight that one i feel like i'm, not gon na end up liking, so i'm gon na go over that again. I can just tell because that's really flat right there. I, like a lot of the body to be towards the middle and just not at the bottom. At all. There we go that just gave a little bit more volume up at the top away and then done so that's what we have here, i'm gon na, let that cool grab the next section brush it through start at the back. One pull two undone and straight this here is my front piece, so i will divide this in half and i'll. Do it really quick? I don't pause at all. I just run through it really quick one and there i'm gon na, let that cool and work on the other side. [ Applause ]. Now that that side's done i'm gon na let that cool and then i'm gon na grab just up at the top and add a little bit of lift by putting the curling iron right up. There don't touch your scalp, you don't want to burn yourself. I'Ve done that before. If i put a little bit of heat right up at the root, it gives it a just a little bit of volume instead of going in with a volumizing product which i will do later. But i feel like this really helps to give you instant volume with the heat and then whatever voluminous volumizing product that you put in your hair. It will make it last longer. So i just grab about this much right here and then i'm gon na go in with the curling iron open it and just let it rest, and you see that little. It just gives me a little bit of lift. So careful don't burn your face and don't let it sit there for too long, because again you don't want to damage your hair too much, and then i also do the back. It just gives you a little bit of lift. Now i'm just going to go through my hair with my fingers start pulling out the curl. You can even go in with your brush your comb, whatever just really brush that out, so just brushed it through. I think it actually looks pretty good like this, but i just like it to be a lot more relaxed, so i usually start on the bottom part first, because i like the ends to be very straight so i'll, bring this right here and just kind of pull Straight down actually kind of curve it in a little bit just like that. I think that looks really good and then underneath i like to really go through these, i probably like. Sometimes i don't even hit these with the curling iron. It just depends on what my hair looks like to begin with. I just kind of go through the whole thing and go straight down to relax it all, and now i've got these crazy pieces that just like stick straight out, so i'm just gon na try to curve them under. So you can't really see them. Okay, i'm pretty happy with this side, so now i'm gon na move on to this side. Okay, so now that i've gone through and pretty much straightened a lot of it, i just like how it looks like there's just a slight bend in my hair. I know there's a way that you can do it. I'Ve also tried taking a flat iron and doing it like this. You know, um i've tried it all and so far this is still like. The only way that i can really do it to get the end result to look how i want it is what it is. So now i'm gon na go in with some texture spray. This is the fat boy tousle and go texture spray. This is my favorite, because it kind of sets my hair like a hairspray, but it doesn't feel hard and crunchy. It doesn't make my hair feel dry and it just gives it that extra grit and texture that i'm looking for. So i'm just going to spray. This all on the outside underneath and then i'm going to lift it up and spray as it falls. Do you see all that? Oh it's feeling real good and messy. I love it. I'M gon na go in with my favorite hair oil of all time. This is the redken diamond oil. I love this stuff because my hair is so blonde and icy. A lot of oils aren't completely clear, so they will over time, make my hair go brassy. I also like that. It'S very thin and lightweight. You can go in with like five pumps of this when your hair is wet and it won't weigh it down or feel greasy or anything. I do only do like one pump when my hair is dry, run it through my hands and then just just lightly kind of just go through the ends like that. I'M not just like coating it i'm just kind of feathering it through just to give some more shine and definition to the hair. Again, i'm only doing the ends, i'm not going up on the scalp or the root any pieces that need some extra love going like so always my front little baby hairs and then last but not least, i'll go in with a root lifter or a root volumizer. You can see, even though i did do the heat root thing. It'S still just a little bit flat right up at the part, so i'm gon na go in with the igk 30 000 feet, lift this up and just spray it. It'S just a fine powder. It'S going to give you that grit and i just wiggle my fingers in at the root and look at that. Lastly, i'll just go through comb, it out, give it a little. So that is how i do my hair. I hope you guys enjoyed following along and i hope that this was simple and not too repetitive. I know i've been doing the same technique for the longest time, but for me it just works um, and i know it might seem like a lot of steps, but just pick and choose what works best for you. If you don't feel, like you know, using a texture, spray really does something for you or a hair oil like that's totally fine, just make it your own, but yeah. I hope this video was helpful. I will link all of my hair tutorials down below i've done. So many tutorials on hair over the years and my hair has changed from being really long to being really short to being somewhere between. So there's a hair video out there for you, depending on your hair lengths, although i do think that this technique really does work for any hair length but yeah. I hope you guys like this video. Thank you so much for hanging out with me today. Leave me all of your requests down below in the comments and subscribe, so you don't miss my next video and i'll see you very soon. Bye,
