Hey everyone Kaylee, your friendly neighborhood hairstylist here with just some hairstyles today, we're gon na do some short braided hairstyle, let's go okey-dokey. I realized that since I cut my hair, a little shorter I've been doing less braids and as soon as I realized that I was like you know what this is a challenge accepted moment. So I just want to play around today and try some different braided hairstyles on my short, / medium hair and see what we come up with. I think these will be great for summer, whether you're celebrating indoors and posting your pictures, online or social distancing outside it'll be great. It'S all that said, let's get into it for the first one. I wanted to try this hairstyle that I saw on tik-tok, because I have a problem for this. First, one we're actually gon na do just a little twist. You can do it with some Dutch braids. If you want gon na start with the center part, and then I'm just gon na take a little diagonal part here and that's what I'm going to be putting up and to keep myself from making a mess, I'm going to clip everything else. So I saw this trick on tik-tok and I want to see if it will work for this. Basically, you stick your a tool of choice up and into the hair. You twist it around pick up some new hair twist it around pick up some new hair down and around down and around there we go down and around down and around oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, we're doing it would I ever do This on a client, No did it work on me. Mostly that's really funny, okay, so it kind of worked, I'm gon na say now: okay, let's do it with an actual braid now do I want to do this with rope, braids or just twists? See? Okay, I'm gon na show you both. If you want to just do it the easiest possible way. We'Re gon na just do a little twist you're gon na start with a section of hair up here twist it away from your face, and then you grab a little tiny bit more hair. Put it with your section and twist grab a little bit more hair and twist and then twist the last little bit and boom. Then you're gon na take your bobby, pin and pin up and into the twist like it's going through a tunnel and there you go and now, let's just try the rope, braid side of things just to show you guys the difference and to make it an actual Braid, so you start with your same section up in the front: yes split it into two and then for a rope. Braid you twist the hair in one direction and wrap in another, so we're going to twist towards the face and then wrap away twist towards wrap away towards in a way, and now you just start picking up hair like we did before so you're gon na pick Up a little section of hair, put it with the bottom piece twist and wrap, then another little piece of hair it with the bottom piece twist and wrap, and you just keep doing that, and so all the hair from your section is in the braid. This does feel like almost the exact same thing is what I did on the other side, just a little bit more extra, and I know some of my braids of holics are extra, so I think that works alrighty, and now that the braid is done. We'Re gon na bobby pin again, which one do I like better cuz. I have to redo one of them, so they match. Oh yeah. I need your input, which one you like better the twist or the rope braid. Oh yeah. The only thing is that you can't really get rid of like this Ridge here you know maybe actually this side better, just like Ana Laura, has said to fluff. We are fluffing all righty. Well now you know the easier version which is the twist, but I am going to go ahead and do the braid on this side so that the video is still appropriately titled. So we're still gon na twist toward our face and then wrap away twist towards wrap away. Alright, I think this might actually look a little cuter with some hair ties on the end, so I'm going to do a little clear, elastics yeah yeah. So I guess that's also the difference between bobby pin and hair tie. I think this is cute and useful and then this one's a little bit more just subdued, so whichever one you like the most I'd go for that, I don't think that the pigtails go with my outfit. I'M gon na take the hair tie off and put the bobby pin back in, and then this hairstyle and we'll be complete. I feel like I just gave you guys, like 3 different versions of the same hairstyle, welcome to Kelly Melissa, where we can't decide on one thing, so we do them all alright, and that is our first hairstyle. It'S cute, it's quick! It'S easy! It will help disguise some roots. I think it's really good for video calls to 10 out of 10 recommend. Okay. So now I've been seeing this hairstyle all over Instagram and tik-tok. I have yet to try it and it's just to braid your little tendrils. So I'm going to keep my middle part and I'm going to take a little piece of hair right here and I'm gon na go ahead and put it where I want my hair to fall. So I think I want my braid to come slightly forward and down right here. I'M gon na put my fingers right there and split it into three and then I'm gon na start braiding. I'M gon na keep the braid a little bit on the looser side. So I've seen this with kind of a significant amount of hair in here, and then I've seen it with like the tiniest of micro braids. I feel like I'm right in the middle of the two, but you know you just kind of do whatever you feel with that one. I think it's a little too big, I'm gon na. Do it again tiny bit smaller section and then I'm just gon na loosen that up not too much we're, not fluffing it we're just letting it breathe, and then you could do a clear elastic or you could tease the end to hold it in place. I'M gon na do a clear elastic. I feel, like that's gon na, be the safest and I'm gon na use these itty bitty little guys a full disclosure. These hair ties did not come in that tub. I saved them from something else so that I could put them in there and hopefully contain them, so they don't end up everywhere around my apartment, because that's how it happens, I don't want it to be sticking. So straight still, so I'm loosening the elastic a little bit and then I'm going in and loosening the braid some more there we go now. I feel like it's hanging more and it's not like, as straight so looks a little bit more natural, which I'm a fan of now. You do the same thing on the other side. One thing I did on this first side that I think helped a lot is. I did a diagonal section so now I have a triangle and when you take your hair down to this side and you braid it, then you don't end up with any scalp showing. So if you like me, prefer to avoid like scalp lines, that's what you do and then the reason that you need to start your braid and the way that you want. The whole thing to lay is that it is going to lay whichever way you start with. That was a lot of a sounds. I think that made sense. So if you start the braid - and you start doing it this way, it's gon na be this way when you finish it. So if you want it to lay nicely on the side of your face, you need to hold it in the line that you would like it to fall so that it does. I can feel the coffee wearing off guys and I feel, like I have a hard time talking like putting words together when the cup is starting to die off anybody else that and elastic fluffed versus not you see that I mean sort of fluff, I'm literally just Grabbing on each side of the braid and pulling it apart, like you're, loosening shoelaces, and I think the way that you wear this is probably a little bit more like beachy cool than I'm dressed right. Now because it's a very like bohemian beachy hairstyle, I would either leave it all down with the tendrils if you're really pulling off like surfer girl, vibes or you can do a little ear top. I think this is probably a little bit more me back combing my hair with my fingers. A little bit hold a little piece of hair, pull the rest back up love it. You can also do that with some texturizing spray, but I've got some more hairstyles to do and I'm not trying to load my hair with products. There'S your little double tendril braid moment I like it. I used to just put random braids in my hair. All the time, so this feels very nostalgic and cute to me, and I mostly love it for summertime, like with a swimsuit on a beach somewhere, even if that Beach is actually just a kiddie pool in your yard. So I'm suit and breathes alright and now we're moving on and I'm going back to my slightly side part. So for this one I wanted some kind of spring/summer minimally festival vibes, even if it's just for couch Ella, you know so I thought I'd be fun to throw in some fishtail braids like we're just gon na throw in all the braids today we're gon na go At like a little bit, daenerys targaryen but make it fishtail so two sections on one side and they're gon na come back like this. So I got these two sections already, so I'm just gon na go and clip those don't want to lose them and then same thing over here. If your hair is a little bit shorter, then mine, one way that you can kind of cheat the double braid thing is just starting a little bit further back, because the hair doesn't have to be that long to reach back and then with this one. You might just have to turn it into a lace, braid and just pick up some little hair as you go, so that you have enough to get there and if you do that, it will literally be Daenerys as hairstyle, except with fish tails. So, starting on this side, I'm gon na take my top section and fishtail braid it and just like in our last hair sale. You want to braid in the direction that you want the braid to lay so I'm gon na hold it at that angle. Split it into two and fishtail braid, I'm just gon na take a quick little break, put a bobby pin in and fluff this apart and now back to braiding I like to do a little break every now and then with fishtail braids, because they're easier to fluff. If you do it as you go, instead of waiting to the very end, it's just hard to get slack in these braids, and you need a little bit of that to be able to pull it apart. Also, sometimes, when you fluff it apart, the braid gets a little longer. That means you don't have to braid as much gon na hold it with a bobby, pin fluff it again and we will have one a four down and then I think it actually might be cool to do a three strand braid here instead of the fishtail. So I'm gon na mix that in I think, mixing braids is a really easy way to make a hairstyle look more complex and intricate. I don't know if it's the random flecks of like. I know how to do more than one braid or it was just all the different layers that it creates, but I do think it could make things. Look really really cool. Also switching to a three strand braid makes it all a lot faster and easier. I like that, I like that four side, one. Let'S do the same thing on side, two and last section, and now all the sections are done. We can assemble them into the final hairstyle, but also like don't they look cool just hanging down, I mean it's a look, that's a look and a half, but so now what I want to do is bring all the braids together and a new piece of hair Into one little ponytail so that it looks like you pulled the braids back and there was extra hair there to create a ponytail with instead of these Diane a little nubbin pieces. Because those don't look so cute, when you just leave them there to make everything a little easier for myself, I'm going to start with the fish tails and I'm gon na secure those. Then I'm gon na secure the braids. Then I'm gon na pull it all together with some extra hair and one more elastic. It'S a lot of elastics, but I think it's gon na keep me from getting confused. I decided to add a little gold cuff to the elastic just to hide the elastic, but also to make the hair sail Alanna bling here and that's the whole thing. It'S both chill and a little bit festive Olli and a little bit intricate, and I love that and now this one is a low ponytail option, because I love rocking the little tiny ponytail with my short hair. I think it's really cute. First thing: I'm going to do is take back just a chunk of hair, probably like leave some little face, framing layers, just an absolute chunk on each side and secure it with an elastic, then Topsy it so just twist this around and loosen it up, then I'm Gon na put a little bit of hair around this elastic. This part is optional. Now we're doing the same trick from last time, ish we're gon na pick up some more hair, put it with a little tiny bit of a ponytail. We'Ve got going on and you're gon na braid it. I think I want a fishtail braid it because I felt like it, but of course you can do a three strand braid. If you prefer, maybe even a rope, I mean go crazy. Do what you want. I'M doing a fishtail, braid and now I'll secure with the bobby pin and I'm gon na pull it apart. Some more and now I'm taking a real elastic and I'm gon na pull it all to the back. And you just want to place this low enough that you can still see some braid, but at whatever height you feel is cutest like. If you go a little higher up, it'll be a little perkier. If you go a little lower, it'll sit flatter to your neck. So whatever you prefer in there alrighty, I added a little scrunchie and this hairstyle is done. I have a quick tip, though, that I didn't mention, and that is when you pick up the hair to add into the ponytail, make sure you pick up hair. That is growing up here, not down here. The reason for that is that the first time I did this, I had the hairs going almost horizontally into the braid, and when I pulled it apart and I tried to put it in the ponytail, it just didn't. Look right, so I did it again, picking up the hair from up here totally different vibe. So I want to make sure you guys know that I like this one, because I've been looking for more ways to wear my hair up with a braid, and this is a really good one. It would also be great for essential workers. I mean keep the tendrils out of your face, but it gets your hair up but allows you to have some extra a little loop going on. If you know maybe you've been doing the same hairstyle and you want a little something different for my last hairstyle. I shall attempt a top knot with my short hair, so I already know I'm not gon na be able to film this next part with my big camera. I'M gon na need some help from my and Laura. Do you want to be on camera? I don't really have any, but she's gon na grab a little phone cam footage of me doing an upside-down braid. On myself. I got y'all first thing that I'm gon na do is actually section off what I'm going to be putting in the braids. Basically, a mohawk section on the back of your head, so I basically just put my fingers behind my ears and brought them up till they met together at the very top of my head and we're basically gon na pretend like we're, making a half, updo and brush All that up into a ponytail, so it's out of the way and already ready for the bun multitasking Anna Laura, has been teaching me things like keeping a comb in my mouth she's already cute. I would just stop here, but we have a whole hair sale to do so. I'M gon na flip this forward put a little clip in it and then we're gon na braid. First, let's talk about the braid, so you're gon na flip your head upside down, so that gravity is working with you and not against you. You want a tiny, tiny section at the beginning, like the tiniest, because, where the bottom of that section is or the top in this case is where the braid is gon na start. So if you start with a big ol section that takes up the bottom half of your head, the braids not gon na start till right here, which you don't want. If you find this really really difficult, I would actually spray your hair with a little bit of water cuz. What here is a lot more easy to manipulate than dry hair? That being said, let's do this, and now we flip, Oh gears together, think we got a comb in alright, guys, guess what I did it yeah and I'm leaving the hairstyle like this okey. So I think I think, just in the name of keeping things easy, I'm gon na just put another elastic around both of these guys, because I'm afraid, if I take this one out and try to Risa cure it, then this stuff is gon na go crazy and, Like just no we're not accepting that energy today, but because I already have one giant elastic our hair, still clear elastic all right, I think I'm gon na do a tiny bit tiny bit of pulling apart. The other thing that I didn't say, but you definitely want to think about while you're doing this braid is you want to keep it tight? You want to feel like you're pulling on your hair a little bit not enough that it hurts or anything, but you should feel some tension. This little ponytail is kind of cute. I'M not gon na lie. She cute I'm gon na. Do it, but we set out to make a top knot and it's half knot. We shall have for the button I'm going to back comb this hair. If you guys have been around you know what I'm doing here, you can do whatever bun style you like, but for making my shorter hair into a bigger bun. I like to do this whole back combing situation. I mean go for fluff as much as possible like that. We'Re gon na go back like this. Pin it in place, then I'm just gon na wrap part of it around. Pin it in place basically wrap it around to make the shape that you want and then treat it like a pin, cushion and stick it full of bobby pins. Okay, I went off camera and adjusted it a little bit when I could see it in the mirror, but uh guys. I feel like I'm catfishing people like I look like I've got long hair, but I don't, and that is a top knot for short, /, medium hair. I'M excited to develop this. You don't need 5,000 bobby pins for your baby hairs. They'Re braided up they're gon na stay, your hair is up. I mean not only is this great for mixing up your routine. This is great. If you need to have your hair up for your job, I'm here for it, I'm so excited about it. I will be wearing this again and that has been five braided hairstyles for short hair. I wanted to do something different, I feel like I accomplished it. What did you guys think what we're your favorite hairstyles and what should I do next? Let me know in the comments down below, I really did want to kind of inspire myself as well as you guys to try new ways to braid your short hair, so this has been a lot of fun for me. Thank you for spending time with me and I'll see you in my next video mwah, bye e. I don't know what this hair, what I don't know, I'm a little loopy it's my second cup of coffee. Now you want to make an identical set clip see. I take it Cole, that's like when you click on something for the recipe and then it's like. Let me tell you my life story of growing up on a farm. I really just want to know how to make chili

Amy Armbrust: Just wanted you to know I have tried at least 10-12 of your hairstyles. I’m a healthcare worker and have to keep my long hair out of my face. Your hairstyles make feel a little more put together in scrubs, mask and protective eye ware and bring me a lot of joy in these very stressful times.

Katie Bruxelles: I’m loving the short content. Even though I have medium length hair I have layers and I miss braids so much

Teresa Wise: When I was a kid, I had a Barbie that came with a “braiding” tool. It made perfect rope braids on Barbie & me. I have never wished I kept that little tool than I have with all these boho styles coming in. I’m old, but does anyone else remember this? I seriously want a modern version of that tool!

Itsme: Her arms must have hurt so bad after this ... with all that braiding at an angle Thanks for all the hairstyles ❤️

Masha: "Wether you're old or new or a casual lurker, thank you for spending time with me" - this makes me smile every time you say it, and even more if AL joins you ❤

Ayushi Sharma: I swear she does the best hairstyles!

Mia Morgan: Love these hairstyles!! Could you possibly bring back the curly hair wig, and use that for more tutorials? I have curly hair and it would be awesome if you could do some hairstyles with that texture :) ❤️

chandra versluis: I absolutely adore the magic bun! As a male with long hair, I usually have a ponytail, half up-do or if I'm inside, I have my hair loose and put everything to one side. I love braids, but am not allowed to have them by my parents, so once I move, I'll be doing more hairstyles on myself, and of all the hairstyles I've seen on my time here, the magic bun is the absolute best (apart from one of the first hard hairstyle challenge videos you did, I adore most of those hairstyles, but need a little longer hair and way more skill for that XD)

Kate Murphy: You’ve done it again girl! These are amazing! I’m so impressed by the upside down braid into top knot vibe you’ve got going! Definitely going to try that one! I also love the idea of the fishtail braid but I struggle so much to do them! *facepalm* Keep up the great work!

민설희: That last one was so cute! Props to Kayley for always making our quarantine better with creative and do-able hairstyles!

Gabi: You should do more of the hardest braids on Instagram. I love watching them and trying to recreate them myself

Hannah Dare: Yay braids! Braidaholic family reunites!! So excited to watch thank you for brightening my Friday’s Kayley

Trinity Faith: Thank you for this!!! I've been growing out my pixie cut for about a year and my hair is finally almost shoulder length. I'm trying to get back into the world of hairstyles, and these are great!!

amy: "let me tell you of my life story of growing up on a farm. I really just wanna know how to make chili" -Kayley Melissa 2020 Haha i love the little bloopers you add to the end, you have such beautiful personality

Bella_Grace: I love this! Your channel is such an inspiration. You're so down to earth and explain things in such a simple way that it makes me think i can actually do it! Thank you

Sofia Carichino: I'm loving all of them, even though I have medium length hair...I will try them for sure P.s I love you girl you make me laugh so much

Frankie White: Love these hairstyles, the two front braids are so cute!! Thinking of doing some braid tutorials on my channel. Love your content, keep it up

Crowned Lily: Braids are life. Even when my hair was chin length I was still finding ways to put it in braids. Still managed to get it into double french braids that ended up at my neck. I've been growing my hair out for maybe a year now. And its currently just past my shoulders. I want to get to my bra band.

Elisabeth Schlarb: Great video! All of these are so great and I especially love the spine braid! I learned it from you years ago and ever since it's been my go to for a top knot when I'm feeling extra!

Debs Z: I know this is a hair video, but can we take a minute to appreciate Kayley's eye makeup? Amazing!

Violet Humphries: same i love them recently just cut my hair short and this really helps I absolutely love your channel

riseabovehate44: I remember doing that upside down braid for basketball because I was so tired of doing the same old ponytail or French braid, love to see it's back!

Leonie de Vos: This makes me excited to put more effort into my hair in the morning❤

Alaska .Kris: Love, love, love all of these! The last one is my favorite! I need more short to medium hairstyles like yours! My hair is very fine and thin and my scalp shows through when I put it up. Any hints on how to combat scalp showing? I'm in my late 50's too so the young styles don't really look "right" on me. My hair is just below shoulder length and has grown out from a very short cut so needs a haircut as well.

Carly Long: I want that braid on braid hairstyle for my wedding! Love it!

Chloe Arana: This was the sign I needed! I watched the first two hairstyles and then cut my hair after contemplating it for a few days

Sarah Spafford: These are great. I got 3 inches of hair cut off and my hair is short! Definitely need to try these

Maja Holt Højgaard: I instantly went from "casual lurker" to subscribed. When I finished my m.d. in Denmark in 2015 I was not used to wearing my hair up. I felt I did it mostly to please the nurses. To change that attitude I began to post "shift hair" on IG (#vagthår in Danish, if you're curious) Since I needed to cut my hair a little shorter it has been less fun, so this video is actually influencing the everyday life of this "essential worker". I'm going to do one of them on my shift this Saturday

Marla Wood: Loving the braid up the back into the top knot. If I could get my hands to cooperate with doing a french briad I would try it.

showersofstardust: SO thankful for your videos. I cut my hair to a bob right before quarantine and I haven't known what to do with my hair at all.... Thank you!!

Celeste Stratton: I love the low pony look!!! I have sooo many scrunchies and I love how it looks!

Alexis Dandridge: I needed this video. I decided to cut my own hair a week ago and it’s maybe an inch or 2 longer than urs. I’ve never had it this short so definitely needing hair inspo. Thank u!!

Raeley Barchers: 'Treat it like a pin cushion and stick it full of bobby pins' Love that!

Fe.bonetti: Yes Kayley, I have been wearing my hair on the SAME PONY TAIL for the last three months!!! Thanks for the tips!

Dove Kilpatrick: Love the short hair!! Can you teach us how to curl your short hair like this please? SO CUTE!

Hair by Smash: girl I literally gave this video a thumbs up before the video even started. Kayley's braids for the win!

Laura Richardson: Do some more heartless curls!

Ashley Weasley: One of the only good parts of quarantine was finding Kayley

Lpg 8: I love braids, I used to do them all the time, now I have to wait for my hair to grow.

Hello Sunshine: I so needed this! I just cut about 6inches last week and had no idea how to do my hair!

Sierra Edenton: You are so talented!! The first one and the last one are EVERYTHING!

Dancing Koala: I definitely think I'll have a blast reproducing these hairstyles this summer, so thank you for this video! <3 Would it be possible for you to make a video on how to avoid creases when curling your hair? I've recently bought the 1" Kristin Ess curling iron but have creases everywhere whenever I use it (I've tried multiple of your how to curl your hair methods). I really don't know what I'm doing wrong Do you perhaps have some tips?

Holly Raiford Cannino: I know this may be really tricky since neither you nor Anna Laura have curly hair (plus social distancing) but I would absolutely love to see some curly hair style suggestions. I feel like my hair is either just down and crazy curly or up in a frizzy bun. Would love some ideas that dont involve heat and wouldnt ruin the curls

Violingirl79: Love the fourth one, I’ll be trying it tomorrow

MissErikaWoods: Literally just watched for the last hairstyle. So excited to try this tomorrow!

JenHop13: Ugh I’ve never had long hair and I’ve finally gotten mine grown out to your length. I’m still going for a few more inches. I have never braided my hair and have no idea how to do it. You make it look so easy

Valentina Birgaoanu: Wow, just wow! These hairstyles are great.

Amy Delaforce: Love you girls. Can't braid to save my life. But you're so fun to watch. I still dream of the day I'll be able to braid my hair.

Megan Taylor: I love these, even though I have long hair like Annalaura. I love the look of the top knot with the upside-down braid but I cant do it and I wish i could. Its so cute and perfect for summer.

Nika Mrak: Loved these ideas ❤️ i was wondering if you could do a video about different products you put in your hair, what does each do, what to look for in ingredients, how to put it, where to put it (ends, roots, all,...) etc. That would be so helpful ❤️

Laura Pierson: This is perfect! I have the slightly shorter hair and I'm always looking for cut ways to keep it off my face for work

Allie Elle: You read my mind! I’ve been needing some braid ideas for my lob thank yewwwwww

Bali Katzen: Yeeeesssss braidaholic Kayley is BACK!!! I missed her. Great video, and as always I will keep asking for LITTLE WOMEN HAIRSTYLES

SpazyAzy's Art: I love them all! I will also try them out to!

Piyu Sarkar: That two mini braids on the front is so 2000. I remember it was very popular in Bollywood too and they used to put those tiny pastel color claw clips

Kira Foster: I love the magic bun! Can you do more hairstyles like that???

Afsha Hamid: Ohhh God!!! I'm in love with all your hairstyles I recommended you to my friends and they were all in awe. I just turned 19 and I already feel that I can master many hairstyles with your help. LOVE FROM INDIA PS- I Just find you sooo CUTEEE and BUBBLY. Can't help. Plus my friends feels the same

Megan Wang: i really needed this.... thank you so much!!

Rachel Ireland: People seem to think that short hair equals no hairstyles. I cut my hair to my ears and was still able to do so many plait variations and could even put it into French braids. I also miss shorthair ponytails so much

Sandra Schirer: I love braids but can’t seem to do them on my own. Any tricks/tips on doing different types of braids on yourself or faux braids? Thanks! Love all of your videos btw!!!

Luna5094: I love the most topsy tale one, please do more braided hairstyles <3 <3

Katelins Life: Chopped my hair yesterday and I thought my hair was hopeless but thanks to you I have plenty of ideas

diy_queen_ 52: Pleas can you make more Game of Thrones Hairstyles? Maybe some of the Young Arya? From Season 1?

S D: I cut 10 inches off my hair during lockdown so I definitely need this XD

Kirsten Webster: Yes!! Thanks so much for this video. More like this please.

Caitlin Lopez: When I had short hair all of your videos were for long hair and now that I've grown mine out I see all of these great videos and get the urge to chop ✂️

raudona: Hi Kayley! Thank you so much for showing hairstyles with side parting - i find it hard to find hair tutorials with side part and parting in the middle does not suit me :/

Dani Henderson: I Finally Have Ideas For My Short Hair Thanks Girl

KidzVidz: I would LOVE IT if you did Lord of the Rings hair tutorials! ❤❤❤
