How To: French Pin Hairstyles For Summer - Short, Medium & Long Hairstyles

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to show you some hairstyles using a hair pin (also called a french pain or hair fork). These hair pins are great for long and thick hair. The ones that I have come in a pack of two (linked below) and they are SUPER sturdy! These are much better to use than claw clips. Let me know what you think of these hairstyles using hair pins in the comments below. Should I do a makeup tutorial or gym hairstyles next? Comment below! XOXO #hairpin #hairfork #frenchpin

Hey guys so for today's video we are gon na use these hairpins hair forks. I don't know what you call them, but this is what they look like i've seen a couple. Different people use these and i was like. I really want to try them. So i picked these up at target i'll link them in my description box and they did not disappoint. We are going to go ahead and try these out. So let's get started so i don't know where you guys live, but i live in florida and if you've ever been to florida during the summer time it is hot and when i say hot i mean it is hot. You do not want your hair down like i have right here. You almost always want it up, pinned back in a bun and a ponytail. Somehow you don't want your hair, touching you that's what they look like. It'S a metal material, but it's kind of bendy. So with these, you don't just insert them like that. You have to do it a certain way to really make sure it is nice and secure i've seen these used on long, thick hair, so i did try them in mine and they hold up really nicely super secure. So i'm going to show you a couple different hairstyles, so i'm going to gather my hair in the back i'm going to take my two fingers and then wrap my hair around my two fingers and twist that section of hair going up. So i'm just kind of twirling my finger going up, and now i'm just going to take the rest of the hair. That'S sticking out and just kind of tuck it underneath that twist and now we're going to insert our pins. You want to make sure the curved side of the pin is up, and i'm just placing this straight down to the right of my little twist. So you want your pen to catch some hair, so you're going to bring it kind of up and down and then place it through to the other side of your head, and you should be able to see the pin on both sides of your head. So make sure you don't push it all the way through, so it should be super secure. It should feel like it's not going to move so i'm just kind of pinching pulling my hair around the top of my head and then this is what it looks like. It is a little bit of a learning curve using this tool, but once you get the hang of it super easy. So now i'm gathering my hair in the back and i'm just going to kind of twist it around itself and then i'm going to create a little opening with my hand and then pull my ends through that opening. So basically just tying a knot with your hair. So pull your hair through and then press the bun flat against your head so again insert your pin with the hump up and then you're just going to stick it into the right of the bun. And then you want it to catch hair. So you're going to kind of wiggle it a little bit up and then push it through and if you don't have hair sticking out you're not going to need to do a second one. But my hair is kind of sticking out. So i'm using a second one, and i'm just inserting that pin right underneath that first pin that we did doing it the same exact way and as always pinching around my head to give it some texture. So this is what it ends up. Looking like from all sides, i really like this one now we're just going to do a basic bun where we're going to twist it and then wrap that bun around itself, continuing to twist it as you're wrapping it and then i'm just tucking the ends underneath the Bun so that the wrap part is kind of hidden and then i'm pressing it against my head to lay it flat and then just insert this pin the same way. We'Ve been doing it and just push it right through, and i did have some ends, sticking out that you can see, and i just took them and just kind of wrapped them around, so they were hidden and then this is what this one looks like for. My last hairstyle i took the top section of my hair and just divided into two sections and then just twisted the section around itself creating a twist. So do that all the way down, and then you want to take that twist and wrap it around itself to create a little bun so make sure your ends are tucked in flatten it against your head and then just insert your pin the same way. We'Ve been doing it now do the same thing with the bottom section divide it into two sections and then just twist those two sections around each other going all the way down and then wrap it around itself to create a bun push up against your head to Flatten it and then just insert your pin - and this is optional, but i'm just kind of pinching and pulling out those buns, and then this is what it looks like these hairstyles are perfect for summer. They keep your hair off your shoulders out of your face and i really like them. So that is the video. Let me know which one was your favorite in the comments below and if you plan on buying these hair pins. So for my next video, it's either going to be a makeup routine or gym hairstyles workout hairstyles. So let me know which one you want to see next, i'm going to do both, but just let me know which one you want to see next and don't forget to like subscribe, leave a comment. I'Ll see you guys in my next one thanks for watching bye,

Brie B: Love that these are so gentle on your hair. I wear my hair up 90% of the time and I know the tugging isn’t good for you.

DC A: Been looking for more quick, easy ways to get my hair up & out of the way in this heat and these styles are perfect. The French pins stay put well (I have fine hair) & I love how they look. Thanks!

Rowan Manchester: I would love to see a makeup routine next!

Jessie H: Thank you for this video! I bought these beautiful rose gold french hair pins and could not for the life of me figure out how to make them work. Definitely going to use these ALL the time (waist length hair needs to be up in this high 80's degree weather!) ❤️ your videos!!!

sheri: Tysm for this- I impulse-bought these at Target weeks ago, wasn't sure how they worked. Your instructions were super easy to follow & the slow-mo bits sealed the deal.

Elizabeth Armstrong: I've been doing this with Bic pens for decades, but the french pins look so much more feminine and classy, obviously.

Jeannine D.: Love your hair videos so much. I decided to grow out my salt and pepper hair 6 yrs ago and only wear it up so I have a more youthful look. I'm always looking for new ideas/hair ornaments and these forks are on my list. Thanks for the inspiration

Audrey DeFrank: Thank you! I just bought the french pins today at Target and your video is the clearest instructions I’ve seen so far.

Anna Tiernan: Thank you so much for this video, I had never heard of hair pins/forks! Ordered some instantly, hope I can get the hang of using them. You look lovely in all the styles, as always, the last one is especially pretty!

Natalie Sheff: I would love to see the gym hairstyles!!!!i need good running styles and think you would have some great ideas!!! you always do!!

Lil T: Love watching your videos, you make it look so easy

Cecile Walker: Can’t wait until my hair grows a bit longer! Thanks Lainey!

Kelly Dukepoo: I love all 3! My top layers can almost stay in my braided hair! I have to braid my hair every night. It goes down to my belt line and I hate having hair all over the place when I'm trying to sleep. I would love to find those hair pin thingies!

Angela Landis: I Lainey - I love your informative videos - I have long hair but always wear it the same way so I welcome your suggestions - my favourite from this vid is the double knotted one - I live in Uk at the south coast so don’t have target here but may have the grips at Poundland....

Arras10: I never thought about how hot and uncomfortable all that hair would be touching you in the heat! Cute styles as always tho

Susan Farnsworth: The elegant French twist is the choice for dressing up. The basic bun is quick and easy to do for every day.

Jess: How did you curl your hair before this video? I love it!!

Chris L: Thank you young lady! I am starting a new job in the medical field where we must keep our hair up so it never touches the patient when leaning over to do vitals. This looks like a nice option.

Kaitlyn Fenton: These look like awesome tools - def need to try!

Laura OHIO: These were alll beautiful!!!

Sue Stayton: The pins are cool. I liked the 3rd on best. Also whyyyy can't my hair turn out like yours???? Your curls are perfect! I've trued the heatless rope curl a few times..I look like Medusa. love your videos!

7027CATHY: I really love your hair with the curls and the headband in the intro of your video, you look so pretty. Nice hairstyles, I still need to purchase a French pin / fork. They are hard to find where I am, I have seen them online, will try eBay, that's always my go to. I only have Chinese hair sticks. I would love gym hairstyles. I keep active, gym, yoga etc.

Rowan Manchester: Congrats on 150k subs! Love your videos!

Abbie Smith: My mom gave me a very pretty wooden hair fork with a sunflower decoration on one end, and since I've had no clue how to use it, it's just been sitting in my bathroom for far too long. Time to finally figure it out

Zelda Pinwheel: I'm going to have to give those a try! They don't look heavy, or like they pull, and don't have a bunch of teeth that break off. My hair is really thick and curly, so a lot of my tools break. Especially alligator clips.

Mari: You are so beautiful! Wish I had a hair and a tan like that!

kathy Malia: Love all of them

Micki Ring: Ooh I definitely want to try these! I mostly wear my hair in a ponytail and I just don't feel very cute with it, lol

Seabrooks Langston: I love love love this video. How to you pin up hair that is shorter, like at the end of your neckline? It gets terribly hot in Georgia too so I need some relief from this heat.

Pamela Michie: I love all the styles I wear my hair up 90% of the time Imfrom Canada I would to get a set for myself is it possible that I can order them online if so im very interested please love your shows makeup and hair Like to get a set of hair pins Thanks
