Hey y'all in this video I show you some of the tips and tricks that keep me from jacking up my head when I DIY my short haircut.

You will need clips to keep the hair you're not cutting out of the way;

You'll need a small tooth comb for the naps;

And you'll need...DUH...clippers.

Hey I'll back with another video okay, today, I'm going to do this, video, showing you guys a couple tips, and I guess like tricks, you could call it tips and tricks. This is just stuff that I do when I cut my hair to kind of foolproof it to make sure I don't come out. You know with a real jacked-up haircut when I cut it at home myself. So that's what today's video focus is going to be now. I'Ve done videos in the past, where I've shown you guys me cutting my hair with clippers me cutting my hair with scissors or shears. Whatever you call it, this is not going to be that type of video today. This is not going to be a step-by-step guide. I cut my hair today and I did record some of the steps, so I'm going to do a voice over, but you guys will be able to see what I'm actually explaining. So these are just little things that will help you make sure you actually end up with the haircut that you envision when you start to cut your hair at home, also keep in mind, because I don't want no foolishness in the comments. What I did to my hair today is an undercut. It'S disjointed. That means it's not supposed to fade in smoothly. That means. The part that is the undercut is much much shorter than the other part of my hair, which is obviously very long because I'm still growing it out. That'S what I try to do. That'S the point of the haircut. That'S how it's supposed to look, but you can still take these tips and tricks and you can apply them to whatever haircut or hair cell. It is that you're going for when you cut your own hair at home. So just keep that in mind. I'M not telling you to mimic what you see on my head, I'm not telling you to like what you see on my hair honestly, I'm just giving you some pointers that I think are helpful I'll cross the board so without further ado. Let'S go ahead and get into this video. Okay, the first and most important part of cutting your hair at home is getting your parting. Even I'm going to show you all the angles of my hair and show you how I part it. You need seven thousand hands. Eight thousand mirrors and some obstacles in your blood to do this. We take a long time, but you can do it make sure you spend the time parting it getting your parts even and tying up the parts you don't want to cut. You want to pull your hair tight too, because your scalp will move if you don't pull the hair tight and that can change the parting. So you'll see our part of every single little thing, that's the first tip and that is majorly majorly important. Even my sideburns. I part off and make sure the parts are even on both sides of my head and in the front right here. We want to use your eyebrows to make sure the top part of your hair is even on both sides as well before you start to clip. The next thing you're going to see me do is comb out all the naps with a small tooth comb. This is also really really important and it's a key step because it'll help the Clippers glide through your hair. So you want to be snagging and digging the Clippers in deeper than you need to, because you're trying to blow around a nap and end up with a bald spot. So that's the second tip the third and final tip. Is you want to be careful with how you actually hold the Clippers? You want to hold them in a way, that's comfortable, and so that you can go into motion that you're comfortable going in. I go up with a guard on mine, so if you like to go down, get your hand on the Clipper in a way that you're comfortable with going down, so you have to keep switching up your hand back and forth back and forth a million times while You'Re cutting your hair because that is going to increase possibility of you jacking up your head, and here you can see after I base my scalp and relax everything how it looks. I kept my same parting. I just made sure everything stayed consistent, say even and I just threw some relaxer and and combed it through I'll link, my video on how i partially relaxed my hair, for you guys y'all see all that new growth ooh wait a minute. Look one more time see artists, new growth, look at all that new growth in the top on my head. That'S how long it's been so here! You'Ll see me just go in and list it up, so y'all can see the undercover. That'S pretty much it. Okay, y'all! That was good. I hope you enjoyed this video. I hope you can take away some pointers from tips and tricks, some things that will help you perfect, your short haircut at home. You know cutting your hair yourself is not like a one-shot deal. You do have to practice, you will um jack up your hair. I have jacked up my hair more than once. What is the process and you learn along the way. So I hope these things are helpful in getting you to the end point of being able to go straight into the bathroom know what you want come out with what you want. That was the goal of me doing this video for you guys. So it's always. Thank you guys so much for watching, supporting and subscribing. Thank you guys so much for leaving comments. Those of you that always comment on my videos. I truly appreciate that it helps a lot and just keep in mind guys that I do have like an appreciation. Type of giveaway or context I haven't decided exactly, but something is coming up for me if you guys just say like thank you. You know. I appreciate you guys watching and supporting my channel, but as always again I will answer any questions or comments that you have for me: leave them down below and until next time, y'all bye,

Dorothea Holmes: Thank you so much for this tutorial. I did followed the directions of what you said and I slayed my pixie cut! I'm so proud of me. This was the first time I've ever tried to cut my hair. That you for a fantastic video!

Indrani Baxter: Thank you! This really helped me. I left my hairstylist (my life saver-LOL) back home and moved thousands of miles to another country that is not quite "black woman hair friendly". So I have been cutting, relaxing and styling my hair on my own. I admit I've not done to bad a job and can keep my edges in place. LOL This video really helped me for my next cut and I am sure I will be able to maintain using your pointers. Much appreciated!

Kay Morris: Hello Kaye Good work with your hair videos. You have the personality and the style befitting for this type of communication. I work in a remote part of the US and I am not able to go to the hair salon as often (I live in another state)...so watching your video clips helps a whole lot with making sure I maintain the upkeep and styling of my pixie cut. When I fly home for a quick visit I go to my hairstylist literally every week while I’m home cuz I miss doing that. She’s good at pixie styling and cutting as well. I’m planning on making your clips my in-between hairstylist until I’m able to travel home. Keep those video clips coming Kaye. Know that I am a big fan. You are helping many ladies with different circumstances and situations. Good work. Kay
