this week we’re here with our lovely client mel. we are going to take a little inspiration from one of our favorite pop-stars, the iconic ‘pink’ and her curly pixie undercut. mel has very thick hair, and it’s been a while since her last visit. for her style, we are going to do an undercut on both sides to add some fun to her look.

Today, we're doing Mel's, hair, say hi now hi we're gon na we're, using pink as the inspiration we're gon na do an undercut. We'Re gon na keep the top nice and long we're gon na add some chunky blond highlights throughout the top, to give her a little bit more fun. She has a lot of hair and what we're hoping is that, if we keep enough length on the top that she'll be able to pull it down and wear it into a bob tube. But you know, what's gon na happen depends as we start creating what we're gon na do so first thing: I'm going to do is get our taped in sectioned and then we'll be right back. So here we have Mel all sectioned out. We have four sections really. We have the horseshoe going from the recession all the way back around. We have this back piece because we want to leave this part a little bit longer. So it's almost like a modern-day mohawk. You have that section. Go I mean just in two sections just to make it more manageable, and then we have the two side: sections that come down. We'Ve already had the back shape from before she likes the length of it. So we're not gon na, take it any shorter, but we will clean up the edges at the end. So I'll show you a good way to do that so and lastly, we have left these two little pieces pink. Has this really cool haircut, where she has these two little doily things around her face, so we're gon na keep these long and not cut them until the end, because then we're gon na see where it's sitting with her in relation to the top and then we're Gon na make a guess at that point, so first thing: I'm gon na do I'm just gon na cut this one side, I'm gon na, get it nice and wet. You can see her hair. We used to chemically straighten it and, after having a baby, completely changed her texture. So we want to cut all that stuff off. So first thing: I'm gon na do to make the very manageable it's just a lot of office. Are you ready, I'm just already? Okay, cuz I'll come back, so what we're gon na do is she doesn't want it to look completely buzzed back here? It'S probably about a fingers width, so I'm going to do is take diagonal sections like so make sure leaving this part and then I'm gon na cut about a fingersmith. Oh, that's! So satisfying! Okay! So, just wanting to see me Catholic guy so again, we're gon na keep diagonal back sections we're gon na pull it straight out. Fingers with now we have her bottom cleaned up. I just took scissor over comb just to kind of blend it out a little bit more. You can see it all the way around we haven't done the perimeter just yet I'm gon na do it right now, so you can see how I do it. I'M just gon na take some clippers and clean up the edges and then go into it a little vertically like this, just to kind of break up the line. So it's not a harsh line as its registered alone and I'm going to do the same thing back here now we're gon na let down the top and Mel basically wants to keep as much length as possible, but we do want to cut off or some of That really dead stuff we're just gon na. Let it all down see what it looks like. Probably just gon na take off a couple inches right, so here we have Pharrell wet now. What we want to do is we're just going to cut the top actually pretty square so then, when it falls down either direction, it's going to naturally have layers, because when it falls down, the top will look a little shorter than the bottom. We do want that length different so that she can curl it and she probably wouldn't wear it straight, like you're funny we're more curly but either way it looking. Layered will look really nice and then back here. We want the link to fall to about here. So what I'm going to do is first cut it a guide horizontally and then take this section, pull it straight up and I'm just gon na cut off what's dead, so we're gon na do that you can see, we can always cut off a little bit. More later, if you need this is just a new tunnel now, what I'm going to do is section your hair down the center and cut a new guide. This way, I'm gon na do is pull the straight up and angle, my fingers and now there's no right or wrong angle to choose. It just depends where you want this back part to finish there. I think this will be a pretty good length with some texture. Just kind of sitting around the whole bone because about time she curls it's gon na spring. Up a little like that perfect. So now I'm going to do is pull out the hair straight up and cut everything square and then you're gon na continue that all the way to oh, you done it back so here we have the cut all done and the color all done. I have prepped it with fixed abode right now. I'M gon na put on a layer protect to curl it with we're gon na curl, each section and obstetricians. So here's the big reveal her hair is all done now. It'S beautiful! We lighten the top of the level 8 with an ash base. Obviously just corrected me with the orange undertone it becomes true. We decided to undercut it a little bit higher cut this part shorter, just because with her curl, she doesn't like it as bulky there, and then we let these little doily things how's. It feel amazing. Yes, she rocks that so excited very pink. ♡ Pink Vanilla ♡: Absolutely love this!! Thank you! It was so informitive and clear, you could see everything perfectly and it was explained so thoroughly and well! Thank you SO SO MUCH. She's gorgeous btw!! And the cut is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I can't wait to finally cut my hair like this too!

Ella Perry: I love this style! Quick question: If the hair is parted down the middle, can it be worn as a bob? I'm curious as to how the back would look in that situation because even if the front looked like a bob, it doesn't seem like the back would. I'm thinking about getting a similar cut so your feedback would be appreciated! Thank you!

Yve XYZ: Awesome haircut! But would you mind explaining why you once parted down the middle and cut that at an angle and then cut all of the hair straight across? What effect does it have? I'm just asking because where I live hairdressers are closed due to covid lockdown and I DESPERATELY need a haircut (already have a kind of similar one) Thank you and wishing you a very happy new year ✨

Gabriela Pedroso: thank you soooo much, i was able to cut my own hair with your tutorial, and i'm really happy with it!!!

John Coats: My wife currently has an under cut with the length kept long enough for her to through it into a pony tail. I've been thinking about something like this for the summer. I appreciate the video. I have gone to the site and submitted my e-mail address to get a copy of the more in-depth instructions. I haven't seen anything yet, is there something I'm missing?

Sarah Sinclair: What would you recommend if you wanted to keep it longer in the back instead of stacked

Yiuglow: What hair shears do you use?

Missy Brun: I LOVE this!

Anaclara Ferrando: Does this haircut work for square/rectangular faces?

Mika Anderson: What cordless clipper is that? I need a new one. Yhx

melc Just: How would you do it on a flat backhead, that really wants a pixie?

Amanda Thomson: If her hair was naturally curly you would've used loose tension... Just saying...

antiseptic eye: Ok my hair is very thick short very curly and I want a hair cut like that but I bit short and I have a very round face what hair cut should I get

Linda Russ: Nice on a younger woman. Her hair is not curly.

Eliza Thompson: I want to do this but what if it looks bad.........

Devin Nolan: I just don’t think this look is for her...I think shorter on top would be better
