How I Cut My Own Pixie!

This is what happens when I get a bug in my bonnet! Once I decide I want a particular haircut it doesn’t take long before I’m cutting it off!

Hey guys, what's going on stacy here, i was just going to share with you how i cut my own pixie last night. I was just getting kind of tired of my hair and wanted something new. So here i go. The first thing i'm going to do is put on my cake backwards. That way, it will prevent all that hair falling down the back of my shirt, because i cut most of the cutting in the back, and i need my four clips because i'm going to section my hair into four sections now, this part of the process actually takes The longest, i actually edited a lot of me doing and redoing this out, just because it's not that entertaining or informational what you just need to know is that just get it as straight as you can the lines to where you want it, because i'm going to Undercut this meaning i'm going to shave all that stuff on the bottom off. Should i shave not with a razor but with a clippers, so i mean it's going to be gone, so you want to make sure it's pretty straight. I mean don't beat yourself up over it. It doesn't have to be perfect perfect because it is underneath other hair, but straight as you can get it, i work on it for about 10 minutes, maybe at the most trying to get it straight. This is really hard to do. If you have someone to help you do this part. You can do the rest by yourself, but this is actually the hardest part. I think the cutting, but the sectioning, but anyway yeah see you go through with a fine-tooth comb. Alright, so i'm checking it out and uh not perfect, but yeah pretty good good enough and oh man, i just love using those clippers a little too much. I think, but i am starting it. Oh that's so fun you guys. I mean seriously. This is like exhilarating and then i said, hang on there, because i had to get that out of the way, but oh yeah, just just shaving all that off. For some reason i love it. I like growing it all out and then shaving it off. I don't know i don't know, i'm weird the most important thing when you're doing this is that you don't cut up into the hair that you've sectioned off, so go right up to the line, but don't go past it. So what got me on this kick actually of wanting to cut my hair. Real short again was. I was over at my mom's house and she'll. Say don't blame this on me, but i was over there and she was watching the good witch one of the movies. The good witch movies on hallmark, you know very mom thing to do and i saw her hair and i just loved it. I was like. Oh, i love that. That'S so cute that looks easy, so i couldn't stop thinking about it, and so i just did it. The faces i make during some of this are just completely golden. I think i'm such a nerd, but um yeah - i i just did it impulse control, is not always my strong suit, so yeah a little bit of it fell down there. So i had to kind of go back and clip clip it back up, just because i wanted to make sure i didn't cut too much off of that until i really got to it and decided how much i wanted to cut off um so go back, and Once again, the fine tooth comb, the strangely metaphorical fine-tooth comb yeah, so go back over it again and again thing with clippers. Is they can leave these weird long hairs that you're like? How did you escape the clipper, and you know like right in the middle of a perfect shave, so go back over and here it is again and again and again see how many times i'm going over it just to make sure there's no strays. No hair left behind right. It'S war guys! Oh my gosh. Look at me. I look like dracula. Oh yeah, look at that! Look at that! That'S a that's! That'S a big bird! That'S a big bird's worth of hair there! That came off my head. Oh my gosh! It'S gon na feel so good and the humidity getting all that off of there. Okay, so i'm taking my clips down and i could really have left it like this, if i had wanted to which i didn't, but it it lays so much better. Now, after undercutting it's such an amazing thing - and i don't know i wish more people would do it because it really makes everything lay so nice there getting rid of all that bulk. I mean not. Every woman wants to shave her head, so i get it, but no one would ever know that that's shaved, unless you're like pulling your hair up all right guys, you've waited so patiently now it's time to cut the top so you're gon na watch. This part and you're gon na be like, oh, my gosh. What is she doing, because this is so flippin basic? How i do this yep, i'm just looking at it and cutting it, i'm not even sectioning it i'm just putting it all down and then cutting it. Where i want it to lay and then i'm going to go in and section it and cut the interior of it, but this is just so i get that nice baseline, so it like. I love how it looks. I love it, love it love it when it's like tucked behind my ears, i don't know i feel like a robert palmer girl, because it's so smooth looking and just makes me feel all fancy so right now, i'm just trying to go around and get everything kind Of straight easier said than done in the back, but not impossible to get. You know straight enough to where no one will really notice that it's not completely perfect um. Oh yeah, these this area here - oh that's, just so satisfying to watch, isn't it you can just see right where it's hanging over and then just see it get. You know what i also kind of look like one of three stooges: there don't worry, it gets better, but i mean i like to call a spade a spade. So so here i'm layering. This is where i'm going in and going to take out a lot of that heavy weight line that is causing it to look so bowl cut right now, not exactly the look i'm going for, but the easiest way to achieve this haircut. For me, when i'm doing it to myself, so i'm cutting out all that heavy weight line, i'm just trying to piece it up and get it real, pc and lightweight and be able to put some product in it for the thinning shears for the texturizing shears. Just to like get this stuff, so pc and so texturized, oh i love it. It makes it so easy to style and gives it such a nice, because my hair is so flipping straight that it just would hang flat and do nothing if i just left it alone. So i have to get some texture in there and the texturizing shears work. Really well for me to do that. They give it just that just enough pieciness to really help it. I don't know, have some life, so i am going to town on this hair. I mean i'm not even looking at i'm just pulling it up and just cutting taking out chunks of it um it just. I want it short back there, and so it's not like i can really cut too much off. I mean i've already freaking shaved. Most of my head here in the back, so my hair is super thick, which is a good thing, because it's easier when you have thick hair, then when you have thin hair to just cut out some of the extra and get it to the desired thickness that You want when you have thin hair, it's a lot harder to try to add it back in so thick. Hair is a good problem, but this haircut is really good. If you have thin hair um the shorter you cut, your hair, the better thin hair looks generally rule of thumb, you know can be meant to be broken, but for the most part, um thin hair looks better cut shorter. So the more you know, oh boy, the time has come for the tremors. This is the hardest. Part of this whole thing is getting a straight hairline in the mirror backwards. All that business. I don't know how weathermen do it now. This side was actually the easier side, but when i go first i'll try and figure out, how am i going to reach this side? How am i going to look at it um, but the straight line up the side. There is super, i'm so creative ingenuity, but that is so hard right there. I just could not get it together and hold that thing straight. I kept wanting to turn it, but eventually i made it um. I did divot my hairline a little bit there, which was like not my favorite, but not that big of a deal that's really hard go because in about two weeks that'll be grown back out. No one will notice um. That'S one part of the reason that i did shave the back of my head like that is because it will grow out so flipping fast and it'll. Just look like a really well cut pixie in no time, so i'm thinking ahead guys thinking about the future. So the best part of this kind of haircut is that when you blow dry it it goes from taking like 10 minutes to blow-dry to taking like two minutes to blow-dry. It really works so fast and can look so just chic all right. So that was some super fun blow drying hope that was relaxing and therapeutic to watch. Oh i'm starting to like it. You can tell it is really kind of starting still feeling a little new jersey and fluffy for me, but i'll get some product in a minute. Later that night, i do go back and completely take out that weight line in the back. I have completely smoothed that out since this, because i decided i didn't really like it. It just looked too bold cut and not quite the look i was going for, but now i am going to go through with my texturizing shears again and just take out even more of that. Now that it's dry and i can see where it's laying bulkier. I can see where i need a little more of that thickness taken out now. This would be ideal like if i was cutting this on someone else. This is where i would just point cut um. It would be much easier, but point cutting is hard to do on yourself effectively and safely. So i just use my thinning shears and it still works just not quite as well but yay. This is just a little bit of finishing up a little bit of dry cutting at the end, just getting everything perfect the way i want it and then, oh, my goodness, so much fun. Now i'm like looking at this and thinking i love it, but it does need a little something. So i am going to use a little product to your uh. This is pureology texturizing paste and i'm going to take a little bit and then just really rub it around my hands, so that i can just do that. This is the best way that i know to get product evenly distributed through your hair, but this will really just kind of give it a little texture and kind of piece it out so that it will look a little more modern and not be so um fluffy. You know not look so round brushed, look more, just kind of like a natural state, that's the hope anyway, uh the back is laying better there. I still go. You know, let me show you, this is what it looks like now. There see, isn't it nice? A little better but yeah, i'm pretty happy with this uh super happy with this look at the way the side lays and the front looking to see. If there's anything else, i want to do that. I don't like about it. I'M not too sure about the back. Here but i'd take care of that later, so everything else super excited about wow,

the_furry_forrests: I shaved my head almost two years (video on channel before I lost 50lbs)ago just bc my hair was fried from dying it and I always wanted to shave it. People continuously told me they wished they could pull it off or they wished they were confident enough to do it. Gender roles for hair are ridiculous. You’re the one washing and styling it, do what you want! It was the most freeing experience ever! Love your hair!

Amanda McBride: Absolutely love it!! You did an amazing job and made it look so easy, sure it isn't that easy. But when I get home after my nightshift I am going to watch this again as I give myself the same haircut. We are in lockdown till mid July so no hair dresser for me. At this point I am so ready to shave my whole head but this is a way better alternative. Thank you so much for this amazing video. Can't wait to get cutting!!!! xxxxx Given I am a nurse and not a stylist this will be so satisfying as long as it turns out. But hell it's only hair.

Shelly Kirton: Awesome!! Just looking at you cutting your hair made me feel so much lighter. My God I am so fed up with my hair. Wish I had your skill and confidence to do it to my hair. I am definitely going this short when I get to my hairdresser. This lockdown length and bulk on my head is driving me mad!! Urghh!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. You look so fresh and beautiful with this new haircut. Just amazing you did it all by yoursef!! Bravo

T. Mac Mayes: A great look! I've been a Pro Hairstylist for more decades than I'd like to admit. Cutting my own hair takes about 3 times longer than cutting a client

Phoebe Bee: That was amazing! You did such a nice job! Looks cute! You are brave!

Dawn Hammond-Kemp: Oh my days, this is a fantastic video. It looks amazing, gorgeous style, you're so clever. Lockdown has me desperately needing my pixie cut ✂️ back, thanks for the inspiration yo do it myself ❤

Marleen Leen Zieseler: Such a great video. Inspiring! Had a pixie cut but since two years ago grown it out. Still left the undercut at the sides... Thought a while ago how much better I felt by having short hair. Your Video summarizes all the reasons why I cant wait to cut it. I will cut it myself, much thanks to your inspiring video. I will get a friend to hold the mirror for me though. Since it'll be my first short-Hairstyle I do on myself. You look great and everything about you is so wellcoming. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay healthy.

Diana McCullough: Oh my goodness girl. You did a awesome job. I love the cut. Thank you for sharing

Linda Russ: In this staying home time, I’ve been so tempted to cut my hair, but I don’t dare! I know I’d make a mess. You did a great job!!

Pat Kennedy: May I tell you, from the bottom of my heart, you are one brave soul! Truly. I went to Cosmetology School in the mid 70’s I have done many many hundreds of haircuts. Your is my favorite style. I wore a signature Dorothy Hamill for, about, oh, 35 years. I have baby fine hair, and it suited me. But never(ever, never ) would I cut my own hair. Brave woman. I can trim my bangs, but that is it. You have nerves of steel. And you and your haircut are really cute! It was fun watching!

Queenofweaves: New subscriber! Girl you did that!I’m a hairstylist and WOULD NEVER attempt this on myself ( I just read through the comments your a hairstylist too I should have known, but I only deal with hair extensions) I have an undercut and I wait on my nephew to bless me with a $10 haircut every 2 weeks. But I love what you’ve done

Sandi Peiffer: THANK YOU!!! This WAS my haircut... until you know... 2020. But NOW I see how I can go back! Yes, salons are open, but I’m high risk and staying home! I think you did a GREAT job! My hair is thin, and you’re so right. Looks better short!

MF B: This was super helpful. Thank you! It's exactly the look I'm aiming for, and while I'm not the same slim face line you are, I've got at least some idea now on how to get close to this look. Hopefully, lol. Cheers!

Terri: I’ve never seen anybody do that! That was awesome! You have beautiful hair also!

Bridget Rainey: Wow! Super brave! Great job cutting your own hair. However I wouldn’t call that a pixie, more of a bob. I was a hairdresser for 35 years and it’s not that easy to cut your own hair. Kudos

toots four: You did a great job! As a hairdresser I enjoyed this. Thanks. BLESSINGS

Sweet Tee: I love your video! I watched this laughing the entire time because you sound me talking to myself in my head while I cut my own hair. You're just saying it out loud. You're so right! Thin/fine hair looks so much better shorter. I have fine hair, but it grows very fast so I always over cut it knowing it will come right back. Plus, it has so much more volume and shapes my face well! Your pixie turned out great!

Be You Gems: I love how your hair turn out. I haven't cut my hair in three years so I went from a shaven head to it being down to my waist. I am going to attempt this tonight, if I fail, I can always shave it off again.

Grounded Roots Homestead: Oh my word! I love it! I've been trying to decide whether to cut a pixie again after letting it grow out for a year and a half. I'm convinced the pixie will be coming back soon!

Kathleenie Beanie: This is really great. You are fearless. Love you face playing with the camera, your commentary informative and entertaining.

Paula Gallagher: So cute!! You made that look so easy.

Gabriela Murguia: You are amazing cutting your own hair!! Natural talent. Congrats!

Anne's MS Chronicles: Well done, you did a great job. I cut hair for the first time yesterday - this pandemic has prompted me to watch lots of these tutorials. My mom was a hair dresser in her past life and she got me to cut the back of her hair under her direction and tomorrow I am cutting a friends hair. Hope I do as good a job as you have done.

Anne Green: This is the most fun I have had watching a hair cutting tutorial. And it looks so darn good. You're beautiful and this cut suits you so much better than the last. Thanks for the inspiration.

Lynn Hardie: Very impressive, you did a great job! I’ve been a hairdresser for 34 years and I doubt I could do that myself.

Joan Gentile: Wow!! You did a great job!! I love it!! It must feel much better than the longer hair you had. I cut my hair, too!! It's so invigorating!! I love cutting my hair myself. It makes me feel better about myself, too!! Excellent job!!

Deb C: You are one brave and confident woman. Great job.

Mercedes Godoy: Awesome job. That’s exactly how I want my hair cut ‍♀️. Thank you ✂️

Tess Forrester: I’m so impressed!! Some questions for you- how did you thin out the weight line at the back? What can I use if I don’t have the thinning shears? What razor length was that? I’m needing a Covid haircut from my mom. She’s been doing my dad’s hair and it’s quite good so I’m feeling positive for my hair :)

Keri Hatgirl: My husband always cuts his own hair in the bathroom with a couple mirrors. I see these videos and I am definitely impressed that people can do that. He cuts my hair for me every couple months and he does the full sectioning and pinning up my long hair and then letting it down in increments to trim each layer. I estimate it takes him about twenty minutes start to finish, and a large part of that time is the sectioning and letting down each layer rather than the actual cutting. I agree with you that using the clippers looks like fun, but my two teen age boys fired me from giving them haircuts when they were quite young. I do like to watch him do their haircuts and he has also given haircuts to friends of mine, but no one will let me cut their hair. Last month I had a couple friends visit to grill on the deck and both asked hubby for a haircut. One just a trim on her long hair, the other wanted her overgrown pixie cut short, which he did with the clippers. He did a great job, but I would have been too afraid to cut her hair with the clippers like he did.

Regina Breitenbach: Wow you did a great job! Love the cut! You are so calm about it all.

Kristi Piccone: Love her! Reminds me of my favorite brit Miranda Hart! Great job in cutting your own hair

SUE REEVES: No hesitation with the scissors! Go girl!
