Hey friends, how are you today? I hope you guys are all hanging in there today. I'M going to do a Velcro roller. Take two! I'M gon na try to do my hair with velcro rollers and before I get started on that. I just want to take a moment to say I hope everybody is doing okay. I know a lot of women that watch my channel are older, women are 60s and older and just want to say I hope you guys are all doing good and staying close to home. It'S it's just surreal. What'S been going on in in the world with this coronavirus and it kind of feels trivial, maybe to do how to do your hair videos, but one thing I have been noticing is the days that I don't do anything and I don't put any makeup on and Don'T do my hair, I just feel blah, so you know I don't know just getting up and going through the effort of getting yourself ready for the day playing with your hair. I don't know it just makes makes me feel better just to get away from all the news that's going on and all the jura fiying possibilities of people getting sick, so yeah. I think that it is needed in this time just to hey. Let'S just try to keep some semblance of normal while we're all stuck at home. I live in Arkansas, so we haven't had a state-wide stay at home. Yet, but it's been highly encouraged to stay at home. All the schools have been cancelled and that type of thing we started stocking up on food a couple weeks before everyone else did so we're good on food. My son's school got cancelled, hit, he goes to college, and so he came home so he moved home, though I don't know what we're doing every day is just we're, making really good healthy dinners and we're cooking and we're baking a lot. So I don't know just trying to to make do. Secondly, you guys probably know this already. I work from home and it work remotely for a curriculum company and we offer digital curriculum and, as you can imagine, our work has been slammed. We are super super busy, so I've been having pretty long days working but very happy to get to the weekend just to share a hair video with you today, okay, so I'm gon na just go ahead and get started. So I'm gon na bring my hair with a sea salt spray. So this is the essentia sea salt spray. I actually was contacted by a Cynthia because they saw that I've done many styles with this. Oh Cynthia brush this round brush and they contacted me and when I could send me a free product, so I have been actually using this for two weeks and it's really really good. It'S my favorite out of all the sea salt sprays that I accused I've been using it every day and even if you don't do anything with your hair, it allows your hair to kind of have some body, but it still feels super soft. So I'm just gon na spray it on here today. It also has a really nice light smell. I like it. So what I'm gon na try to do today is a second take at using velcro rollers, and I did one video on this before it turned out great. But what I did before was I put the velcro rollers in wet hair and then below dried over on top of them, and I have a lot of people commenting hey, you should try it on dry, hair and then go ahead and do a ten second shot On each velcro roller to kind of heat it up for a second. So that's what I'm gon na do I'm gon na blow dry, my hair first, I'm gon na put these velcro rollers and next and then do a quick blow-dry shot on each of the roller. Probably spray it with a little bit of hairspray and then I'll take the rollers out so we'll see how this goes so on to blow-drying. Okay, so my hair is blow-dried, so I also had a lot of people. Ask me: what are you gon na do, since you can't go, get your hair cut and your hair colored? I actually have a plan, so there's a couple options right: we let our hair grow out and we don't color it and we just let you know we just let it grow out into our natural color. That'S one option. I am lucky that my mom is next door and she does have some basic skills in haircutting. So as far as hair cuts, I am going to get my mom to cut my hair. I know that's crazy and it might not turn out just like my current style, but my thinking is. I want to keep doing pixie cut styles. I want to keep my hair short, so we're gon na we're gon na just do the best we can. I know you guys you may be on your own. You may not have anyone that can help. You cut your hair. I do understand that it is a problem for us to keep our hair short. The second thing that I have planned - and I know this is a bit brave, but I'm gon na try to do my own route and toner, so I did order a bunch of stuff on Amazon last week. Just got it all in when I feel like I'm ready for a haircut and a color. My mom's gon na cut my hair and I'm gon na do the best I can to color my own. The other option would be to get a box color. If you want to continue to color your hair, I'm sure there's plenty of those. If you were gon na, do your own roots, if you're gon na try to do it yourself, you would need a few things. You would need powder lightening. I ordered this stuff. This is wella wella powder Lightner. I also ordered a clear developer from wala, because I wanted a good brand and I ordered one of these kits. It'S like a dying hit, which it has a bowl. It'S got clothes and it's got brushes a mixer to mix up whatever you need, and then I also ordered, because I've been watching my stylist do my hair. What she does is she bleaches it and in order to bleach she have to mix the developer in there. So whenever I do this tutorial, I will definitely film it. I don't know how it's gon na turn out, but you have to use a certain amount of developer winter bleach powder and then, of course, to have some kind of toner on the top, and I ordered these things from Wella as well. I got T 11, which is lightest beige blonde and I also got pale platinum called blonde, or so I will put the links to all the things. I just told you if you want to order ahead and then, if you're interested in doing your roots, then I'll show you my first try at it. Okay, so let's give these velcro rollers a try, so these are not conair velcro rollers that I got and I use these two sizes, the two smallest sizes, either the purple or the blue. The blue is going to be actually the perfect size, so we will get a comb and okay I'm trying to do a bane look today. So I think I'm gon na do pretty much this part going down and the rest going back. So I'm gon na go and very back here and get some ready. I tried this last night just to do a test before today on dry hair and what it did was it wasn't like distinct curls. It put a lot of volume in my hair. I don't necessarily think you're gon na get a super curly a hairstyle with this, unless you did it like, I did it the last time, which was with wet hair and then put them in an envelope dry. But of course you don't have to wash your hair right beforehand. It could be second day hair that you put these in and, as you can see, you've got some roots growing in quite dark roots. If that, so why are we putting these in? You guys tell me how you're doing how are you doing? How is your part of the world affected? How are you keeping sane being stuck at home? You know it's a good time to start thinking about developing more hobbies like what interests you. What do you have at home that you can do? Can you do more reading? I think it's probably a bad idea just to watch the news all day like I was on that kick for a couple days and I just felt just all the time worried and gross. So I don't. I honestly don't think it's a good idea to just feel fearful all day. Obviously, we need to know what's going on in the world, but if you are at the point where you're like this is just too much do something that makes you happy if you do crocheting or work on your plants or you know one thing: I've been doing A lot is baking and trying to do some different recipes that I have never tried before. So I went and got my Betty Crocker cookbook and set it out on my island. So if I, if the inkling to do something new, that I haven't tried before my cookbook sitting right out on the island, so I've been finding all sorts of recipes. I want to try one thing that I've noticed here is for starting to. I don't know if you would call it a food shortage, but we are staying really away from people right now and it is very difficult if you are trying not to have any face-to-face contact with anybody. We do like Walmart pick up but like yesterday we did a Walmart pickup and we only got like 25 percent of what we originally ordered. So we're just gon na keep doing one right, pickup and we're trying to minimize our contact with everyone honestly other than our immediate family. But it seems like just continuing to do Walmart, pickup or, if you're, in a place where you can get groceries delivered. That seems like a good idea. Just keep doing it. Even if you don't get everything you ordered that way. You'Ll continue to have an influx of food. Okay, I'm gon na do a couple more in the back, but, as you can see, it was like really quick to put these in okay. How do you guys think all right? What I'm gon na do is a quick hairspray, because for me these seem to work better when I do a quick, hairspray and then do the blow-dryer. So I'm going to just do a quick hairspray. This is the Heritage by Mindy McKnight called wiggle room; flexible, hold, hairspray, okay, so the next step is I'm going to do a quick shot of the blow-dryer on each curl. All right, let's see if they are ready. Oh, it did hold a little bit curl there. So that's good if you're looking for just volume and no distinct curls, what you can do is then comb your hair out and then style it, but I think I'm gon na just use my fingers right now. Actually, I think I'm going to comb through okay now that I've gone through it, I'm going to get some taffy. This is the kenra platinum, texturising taffy, which I have to say after trying so many different things. This is actually my favorite hair product. To use you don't need quite a lot, I just get about that much and it's got lovely lavender, color and then really just rubbing it through my hands. I get really annoyed when I put too much product on my hair, because I just don't like my hair to feel icky all day. So once you find the right amount, I think taffy to me as long as you don't put too much on your hair doesn't feel gross all day. I like that. It gave a lot of volume, it's not terribly curly and I think it looks great. What do you guys think and of course I wanted a little bit of things today? Okay, let me show you the back and I'm gon na. Do a quick hair spray. Alright! Well, thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you guys stay healthy, safe and keep your minds busy and keep doing your hair, keep doing your makeup and that way, you'll just kind of feel. Like yourself, I hope you have a great day and I will continue to put out videos every weekend and hopefully every once in awhile, some in the middle of the week, but you guys take care. I will talk to you next time. Bye,

Maxine Mewis: Hi Dawn! Great video! I’ve never used Velcro rollers before in my pixie.. but I would definitely give this a go if I’m looking for some extra volume. I’ve been trying a few different looks with my hair and make up (mostly out of boredom as it’s lockdown here in the UK) My hubby still has to go to work (key worker) so that’s a worry. But thankfully our daughter is working from home. Very worrying and I’m only watching the news for a quick catch up once a day as it was giving me anxiety keep the tutorial/vlogs coming. I look forward to the little escape take care and stay safe x

DONNA HARRELL: I had almost waist length hair and I let my husband cut my hair into a PIXIE! We only had a mild "touch up" on the very back! I LOVE IT! I had him watch one youtube video on how to cut a pixie and he did a great job!

Stephanie Kerley: Gosh that looks so easy! Love it! And I love your eye look in this video! Thanks for the videos! I’m a special education teacher so have transitioned to working at home! This is generally our crazy busy paperwork time anyway so use to working a lot on the computer during this time! Only leaving home for essentials! Doing a lot of cooking too! Stay safe!

Megan Rich: Yayy, thanks for another velcro roller video! I'm really intrigued with those. I've been taking screenshots of your hair to show my stylist- As soon as this virus madness is over. Here in Iowa, we're about to be on a stay at home order. Illinois and Minnesota have been on a stay at home order. Hubby works in Minnesota (we're near the border) and he has to carry a special letter in his truck that lets officers know he is an Essential Employee, and is able to be out driving around. People went nuts and cleaned out every shelf of every major store. Luckily, the little blip on the map of a town we're in, people aren't as nuts and haven't been hoarding. So we've been able to get what we need, as needed. Like diapers, baby food, milk.. Love your videos, you're so sweet

Trish Bliss: Love it❣Your hair is super cute! Also, for some time now the darker root trend has been on fire. My 3 daughters who are all hair stylists have a big demand for the "smudge root" color application where up to several inches of the root is intentionally darkened to replicate that "grown out root" look. Here in Indiana we have been under a mandatory social distancing order so no haircut/color favors from my daughters since they all have their own households and one is 21 weeks pregnant. I have not been in a car for 2 weeks but have spent some time outside. I agree with you that it is overwhelming to follow news constantly. Like you, I hauled out my Betty Crocker Cookbook and have spent more time in the kitchen in the past few weeks than I have for YEARS. I am looking forward to more videos---this is the "normal" we can control right now.Take care of your mom; I bet she is thrilled you are so close by!

Bonnie Lemmon: What a great idea. I haven’t thought about curlers in years. I will be ordering some online. Thank you for your styling tips.

NorCalJB: I'm thinking of using velcro rollers for the first time on my short hair and appreciate your having posted this immensely! Your pixie hairstyle is beautiful!

Turra Gorman: Love your hair! Thank you for bringing some fun. Taking care of yourself is important. I do You Tube yoga, walking videos and barre classes to keep myself moving. I love baking and going to refresh a couple rooms for Spring. Keepiing positive thoughts and writing some friends.

Keto MC: I need to try this with my hair. Been playing with my hair and different makeup looks. I’ve also been binge watching lots of different YouTube channels while cooking and cleaning. I love watching Dollar tree hauls. Just a suggestion that I’ve seen on YouTube: if you get your Walmart pickup order ready and submit it at midnight then they fill it with the products they receive overnight but then try to pick it up as early as they allow on the app. It’s still not a guarantee to get everything but maybe more than your past orders. Great video as usual! Kingsley Brown has a couple videos bleaching her pixie then adding the toner. Also, one where she cuts her own hair. I’ve heard that YouTube has been threatening to demonetize channels for mentioning the word “Coronavirus” so be careful!

Ashtyn Bullert: I got a pixie cut back in May (yes my profile picture has long hair lol I haven’t changed it yet) and I’ve never curled my hair with so little hair before and doing it along with you… it turned out great!

nancy waler: I must say, I like your hair after you just blow dried it. It's cute and all I ever do with my hair. My stylist is always trying to get me to put product in my hair and do a little more styling. You are giving me some good ideas and it seems pretty simple.

Philly Sanders: I used to listen alot to the news about the coronavirus pandemic but it's all very depressing so I've decided to seriously limit the amount of CV news. I watched your mother cutting your hair into the pixie style and she did great job. My pixie has been growing out for some weeks now and in desperation because all the hairdressing salons are closed in London, I asked my husband to cut the back of my hair and he did a really great job. I was so pleasantly surprised and glad I let him do it. Thanks Dawn for all your hairdressing tips. Your hair looks fabulous. Stay well and inside.

Pennie Packard: I thought your hair looked really cute before you did anything to it! Had its own lift on the top. BTW, you can get (well at least you could before the lockdown) the velcro rollers at the Dollar Tree. The little ones are 6 for $1 and the bigger ones are 4 for $1. With my short hair, I was happy not to have to pay $8 or $10 for a set with a bunch of sizes I would never use. I live in Indiana so we are in lockdown too. Go to Walmart for a pickup about twice a week, trying to catch the things they had run out of the last trip. We did try to buy some stuff ahead about three weeks ago, but quickly saw that it wasn't nearly enough, especially of certain things that we use every day. We are making a special trip to a Martin's grocery store about 35 miles from home on Monday to get a pickup order that supposedly has TP and Kleenex, etc. We'll see how much of it we actually get I guess. Nowadays, these trips to the grocery store pick up are big days for us!! Lol. I did start cleaning out some of my flower beds on a really nice day we had last week, so hopefully I'll be able to have a beautiful yard this summer.

Jane Fleet: I love the rollers, they look so easy. We've been home for 2 weeks isolation. We only go grab some groceries. We're in total isolation here in New Brunswick. People caught in groups are fined. People returning from away must quarantine for 14 days. Getting real serious. Hope it works.

Sandra Sweet: I really like how it turned out. Haven't seen Velcro rollers for a while. I'll have to look for them

louise mazan: Hi Dawn, I loved your hair today with the rollers. I loved the bangs (thank you for doing that). I could probably use those rollers now as my hair is growing pretty fast. Most of the time when my hair is short there is not a lot of volume but since my hair is growing I love the volume I am getting with my short hair. I also will have the problem of what to do with my highlights. I have no one to cut my hair. I can do the neckline and over the ears..so not sure. I am from North Canton Ohio. We have been doing the same thing as you not going out unless necessary. I use gloves, clean everything, etc. We are in Lock-in in Ohio.Nothing is open except drugstores and grocery. Stay Safe and keep the videos coming.

Jana Snowdon: Your hair looks fabulous as always. Love the bangs!!

Joyce Foister: Hi Sagedawn. I have never watched you before. I am 73 and I love in Ohio. I have 15 grandchildren. From ages 20 to 2months. I love being a grandma. I try to keep busy doing crafts. Quilting, reading, crocheting. Doing whatever I can. I am home more than not. I have enjoyed watching you. I used to do rollers every day when I worked. Worked really well for me. I still have them, well most of them. I have them to my daughter so she could try them. Keep up your videos and I will try to find you again.

Sheryl Lambert: I feel like I was a a young 67 year old before this, very active and creative in my glass art passion. Then, one day the door slammed on my middle age fun, and threw me into elderly and vulnerable. And, I am not happy. I don’t have access to my glass kilns, so my creative juices are drying up. I am going down the YouTube hole, but I’m “meeting” interesting people like you!

Dorothy Maag: Thanks for video, going to give rollers a shot. Not going anywhere, so not worried about outcome. Been in for three weeks now, stopped doing the news. I’m an artist, so I don’t think about anything while painting, which has been a life savor. I’ve always had short hair and just bought clippers to try. Going to test them on my husband first, haha. Keep on with your awesome videos. Stay safe

Bonnie Richina: Really cute video! Thanks for the post. Also kenra taffy is amazing and smells great

Laurie Bush: Hello Dawn, I'm going to try those rollers. I was due to get my hair cut & she had to cancel. I wish I was able to cut my own hair! I used to color it (I loved being a blonde! ) I dont like the gray on me. I know I'm a senior but the gray really makes me feel old! I too got so tired of the constant news so I try not to watch too much TV. I got your post about how to find your products that you use. Thank you! Stay safe & healthy!

Kriss Daniels: So cute! But I think I like the 1st style more u did with the Take 1 vid with the rollers in wet hair more on u I crochet and I have been rearranging and cleaning up and organizing my craft room too. I did buy a really nice beginner sewing machine too I’m waiting to get here.. wanting to relearn how to sew

Claire Titus: Nicely done. Thanks for the suggestions to stay positive. I live in Lincoln NE.

Rosann Supino: Another great look. Love it.

Judy Morgan: I agree we need a break from the news thanks for keeping on keeping on !!

Stacy L: My haircut was the day the lockdown started. So I ordered a texturizing scissor off amazon and cut it myself. I’ve cut my own hair in the past but the texturizing shears really makes the difference. I use clairol root touch up for my roots.

Jana Snowdon: Singing is keeping me sane, my province of Ontario in Canada is in a state of emergency. I get out walking when I can, only going out when i have to. I'm not brave enough to try and colour my hair myself. I just got it coloured on the 13th of March, and I get it coloured every 2 months instead of every 6 to 8 weeks. So I'm hoping that this has calmed down when my next colour comes up. I'm more worried about not getting my nails done lol

Gayla Denison: Hello! Glad you're still upbeat and positive! You look lovely as usual. Thank you for another great video. Stay safe and isolated from everyone. ❤️

Diane Behrman: Hoping is all with you love your videos. I live in NC and we are on lock down here.Be safe♥️

Carol Rempel: Good morning, Dawn, i was wondering if you have tried doing your hair or would consider doing your hair in pin curls? I live in northern BC Canada, we are still getting snow here !!

Debra Schick: We are in self isolation and a provincial state of emergency in Alberta. We are doing spring cleaning, exercise, video chat with friends and family reading and as a travel advisor, keeping in contact with clients and taking courses. Trying to minimize TV watching. Love your videos. I did get a hair cut before the shut down, I had him cut it shorter, not quite a pixie.

dari the unknown: Love your pixie I have too I cut my own hair at min cos coronavirus no salons open hope your OK staying safe pretty lady stay positive things eventually get more normal ill still b cautious

Michelle Reyna: I have a pixie cut too and luckily mom will be able to cut mine as well! You should do a video of it when she cuts yours!!

frank janvari: looks beautiful very nice job

Kelly Cortez: Hi, love all of your different styles with a pixie cut. you remind me of Patricia Arquette. I'm at work right now, keeps me busy. Here in Texas, we can only go to get groceries, pharmacy.

Mary Ann Wheeler: I love your hair. It turned out really cute

Joan Potanko: Your hair always comes out nice. You are so pretty. I wish your Mother could cut my hair like yours. Xoxo

frank janvari: hello as previously requested I whish you would do curling iron pin curls using the curling iron and hair clips to hold the pin curls until they cool down.

Dorothy Holfeld: I bought a portable hair dryer at a thrift store for $4 and enjoy being able to sit under it and relax.

Kaz: We are on lockdown in England . We think my son in law had virus he has been really ill but he is getting better now. I like your pixie straight, but looks nice other ways too.

Amy K: Very nice! I love in Northern Virginia outside Washington, DC. We are working from home. Grocery stores are open. Some stores only allow you to buy one item such as toilet paper and paper towel. I'm trying to stay away from grocery stores as well. Stay safe and heakthy.

Cindy Erbil: Love your hair so cute!

Kriss Daniels: Hi I’ve been coloring my own hair for many years.. and Wella toner T18 is great! U should try that one or some times I’ll mix half and half of t18 with t11 And since ur hair and roots are not so bad .. I would if I was u do a bleach bath instead of full on bleach mixture. U use shampoo and developer with the bleach mixture together and apply like shampooing hair. Also I never use any developer of 40 V. I only use either 20 or 30 V developer. 40 would ruin hair bad! Just my suggestions for u whenever you want to try sometime I’m no expert at all but been doing own hair for many years and those have worked for me

Evelyn Ruiz: Thank you for video ,super beatiful look

Linda Oliver: Looks great

Vivienne Fernie: Love your videos.

Glenda Johnstone: Dawn, your just a doll,! I live in the Chicago suburbs so it has been quite the verbal onslaught of news. I found I can not take it. I am 73 so am staying in. I am a quilter, hand embroiderer. I grow house plants . I do audio books and read a lot and journal . However I live alone with my dog and kitties. I live near family but I am in the house alone. I am doing well!

Cort Right: Your hair looked great just being dried with the hair dryer.

Luane Bastianelli: I've been wearing a pixie for 7 years sincei lost it from chemo and one of the things I loved was NOT having to curl my hair i just blew it dry put some pomade in and worked it. When i had long hair i dried it on wash days and put the rollers in Hit it with a blow dryer and did my make up. Pulling the rollers out after I dressed in However now i. Growing it partly due To covid so i.pulled those rollers out again Lord help.me

Dolores Vinson: I have watched your videos before but I have subscribed because I have bleached hair with dark hair and I can’t wait to see your videos on doing your own hair. Oh I live in Arkansas too.

Linda T: I can get grocery delivery but it books over 10 days out and I, too, only got maybe 20% of my order and none of the stuff I really need! Due for tomorrow morning pickup but I'm afraid it will probably be the same. Frustrated that in 10 days I can't get my full order (which wasn't that much to begin with).

Alison Ridout🇬🇧: We are now on lockdown in the UK and can only go out of we are a key worker, for medical appointments or to infrequently get our groceries. The supermarkets are making people queue outside 6 ft apart and then in-store there are arrows on the floor so that 'human traffic' can only go in one direction inside the store. I have a medical appointment Monday coming so that should be interesting. Oh and we are also allowed out once a day for one form of exercise. Stay safe. Ali

Fionnuala Murphy: You have a really cute face and the hair colour is nice too. Hey what is the natural colour of your hair and are they highlights or all over colour and second do you get sent all your products to try out on camera or do you have to buy them yourself. You seem to get through a lot of different ones. Must be very expensive. Is this your day job. I cut my own undercut pixy the other day because I'm in Spain for the winter and I couldn't be bothered going to the hairdresser, I bought a cheap hair shaver in the Chinese shop. I was swimming in the sea today and I did some aerobics under the water. It was very cold but exhilerating, there was a bit of weak sunshine about too

Mayrene Powell:

dari the unknown: Meant to say i blonde my hair with box dye max blonde or platinum live dyes £4.50 swartzcroft

Buckwheat: "I know a lot of Women that watch my channel" Me, a 23 y/o man:

Pat Martin: You’re so petty!! Bought the rollers.. did on wet hair.. gonna try dry next!!

kimkim: U are pretty long or short hair BUT I really like pixie best

V Rdsnper: Tell your ma tell your pa send you back to Arkansas

Connie White: ITS NOT Airborne. YOUR HAIR IS TOO LONG FOR ME.
