Tutorial: Milkmaid Braid For Short Hair

Here is my tutorial on how to create a milkmaid braid for short hair. This look was worn by Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt at the 2015 Golden Globes!

This style works great for layered and fine hair and if a few pieces are falling out here and there is actually looks really cute. You don't need to have long flowing locks to wear this updo!

Some call this a "crown braid", but whatever you call it it's a super cute style that I love to wear and I think you will too!

I hope you enjoy this video! Please leave me a comment letting me know what you want to see me do in my next hair tutorial :)

Hi everyone today, I'm going to be showing you how to create this milkmaid braid and if you have short or fine hair, this will be a good tutorial for you. It'S kind of a good way to cheat and create the same sort of braided style. Look without braiding your hair all the way around. It only takes about five minutes to do it's super super fast, and even if you have layered shorter hair like I do, you can still achieve this look. So if you want to see how I created this, look, just keep watching start with second day hair or add texturizing spray, if needed, brush thoroughly to remove any knots. Part, your hair at the back and separate your hair into two, even sections: brush your hair upward and secure in an elastic band above your ear, it's important that you try and form this ponytail as high up as possible, so just keep brushing until you get the Ponytail above your ear and as far forward as possible as well, I like to separate a few front pieces and just leave them out. I just think that it creates a little bit more of a casual look, but you can definitely tuck those pieces into your ponytail. If you like, braid your hair, taking care to continue the braid down to the very end. So when you have short hair like mine, every inch count. So do your best to try and braid down to the very very end of your hair, so that when you pull it up over the top of your head, it looks like the braid just continues. All the way around the less amount of just straight pieces, of hair, the better across the braid over your head and secure with a bobby pin. My hair is very fine, so I can secure it with just one bobby pin. But if your hair is a little bit thicker or longer, you may need additional bobby pins just to keep it in place and just continue on the other side, breeding all the way down and when you're finished pull it over top of the other braid. If there are any end pieces sticking out, you can just sort of tuck them underneath the braid that's already there and you'll be able to hide them from easily use scissors to carefully cut the elastic band. Definitely use a mirror. For this, be very careful, you don't want to cut your hair once your braid is in place just spritz with some hairspray for extra holes. That'S it for this hairstyle. It took me less than five minutes to do. It'S super simple. I hope that you love it as much as I do.
