Two Different Pixie Cuts One Technique The Easy Way

In this video we look at the salon classic the pixie cut an all time favourite of mine, the pixie cut has been popular for nearly 70 years now, It is timeless and will always be in fashion but in my experience some stylist find cutting hair that short to be a challenge in this video will look at the most simple way of doing a pixie cut, But not with one outcome in mind 2 different pixie cuts. A seamless soft sweeping pixie cut that is a little bit longer in the fringe, and a shorter more textured choppy Pixie that you can wear spiky or flat and messy.

Welcome to life of hair, my name's James Atkinson, in in this episode, we are going to do a fantastic commercial. Look. The pixie cut an absolute all-time classic, but sometimes I feel that lots of stylists struggle with short hair. So I'm going to show you a really foolproof way of doing the pixie cut and I hope you really enjoy it. If you do, you know what to do share it with your friends, subscribe to the channel and give me a thumbs up and I'll see you on the other end of this video. The pre section for this shape is very simple: we're simply going to create a fin shape by taking a section that runs through the parietal Ridge down to the center of occipital bun. The parietal bridge is the bank that curves away just above the ear, take a section. Neatly: click out away and check it for balance, making sure that the thin runs through the same part of the head on both sides. And the point is in the center of the observed around the back. The first section that you cut on any haircut is the most important I typed my first section of the ear, because I used the ear as the reference for the whole haircut. My dad always said measure twice and cut once we still do to this day. Don'T you cut a section? We'Re then going to create our self another guide by taking a sliver section that runs all the way around the bottom of the fin shape. This means when we come to cut the rest of the hair, we'll always have two vampires one from the tub and one from the original guide that we just cut in above the ear. Each section is pulled out horizontally from the head 90 degrees. Parallel to the floor, so once I go back to my first section, I cut just above the deer. I work from just above the ear to the front hairline and then I work my way using that guide that I created in the top of the fin section and the first section die, cut and work. My way around the head from right to left pulling the hair straight out from the head, cutting a square line that follows the head shape because of the stood the guide that we create. It is so easy. It'S almost foolproof. Now we cross-check our work to make sure there is no unwanted over direction or finger marks top is pad a simple square blanket on it. Nothing fancy just put all the hair up 90 degrees from the head and cut a square line. So this is look number one we're simply going to texturize using a channel cutting technique, and here we have a very soft contemporary. Modern pizza can look worn by so many of my clients, but we're gon na spice things up a little bit. First thing: we're gon na do is take the fringe area using a deep point, cutting technique, we're going to move weight and length the next technique, we're going to use the channel casting again now I realize channel cutting does look very scary in the beginning, but this Is a technique that I couldn't live without, I absolutely loved it and it's something that I use every single day. So I highly recommend that you give it a go and you get your head around it in this instance, I'm using it not only to take weight but length away. Also, this is going to give us an extremely texturized finish. Don'T cut the fringe to remove some of the length and we are nearly finished a little bit of wax into the hair, and it's all done. We warn in very very versatile fashion up or down girl or boy. This is an absolute salon classic and then we have it. Two totally different looks using one technique, so you can decide exactly what you want to get out of this particular pick seeker dependent on the needs of your client. Here'S some absolute winner in the salon, something that I use nearly every single day. I hope you've enjoyed it and I'll see you again very very soon for another episode of the life of hair

Jocelyn Avery: I will always come to your videos when I want to style my hair I followed your modern shag tutorial about a year ago and it was the same style I kept doing until then. About to try this totally confident and ready!! Thank you

Cersei Mack: I just love your tutorials! They’re easy to understand, uncomplicated, and straight to the point. No flash. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

C Latts: Stuck in quarantine and want to try the first version with my husband's help. It's lovely. Your technique for the bottom section is so well illustrated, looks very doable. But we're totally lost when you transition to combing out the top section, since at that point you don't show what to do. I think the words you say are that the top has "a simple square diagonal cut on it", but we don't know what that means or how to accomplish it. We're average people LOL, not trained in hair cutting - can you please explain how we might go about cutting the top section? Really want to give this a try. Thanks!!

Rachel Whittington: Love his video. As someone who has pixie ‍♀️ cuts for 20 years I know when I get a good one and I have had some disasters. Some women have short hair and I’ve been very short changed over the years by people who obviously don’t think short female hair is a real thing. Focus at the moment is on the loose waves and we get forgotten.

audrey purple: i'm currently in cosmetology school. anytime i want to learn a new technique to practice here at school, you are who i come to, James. you are knowledgeable, thorough, & very very talented. i have learned so much from you and i am so grateful.
