Hi, I'm Rachel Vitolo and welcome to how to hair in today's video I'm going to be showing you how to create a high textured ponytail so to see how to prep. For this look head on over to my textured wave tutorial to create the high textured ponytail. What we're going to do is divide the hair into three sections, so our first section is going to be in front of the ear on both sides and then from the center of the e.r straight across horizontal. I'M going to clip the underneath section at the nape of the neck away and we're going away with our middle section. First, this center section is going to be our first ponytail that we create. What we want to do is by using a soft brush. We want to get rid of a few of the lumps and bumps not too many of them just bear in mind that this is a textured ponytail, so we don't have to get rid of all of those lumps and we want to get our first ponytail into Position when creating a high ponytail, the most flattering position to have the ponytail is to align it with the cheekbone so working out where the cheekbone is and just gliding your finger up to the section. What that will do is when all the hair is up. You get that really beautiful strength and right in there and it's the most flattering shave on a high ponytail as well just going to spray the exterior with a flexible hold hairspray, making sure that when you're spraying the flexible hold hairspray onto the root area, make sure You spray a little bit beyond wäôre time. What that's going to do is make sure that you have security when you're tying the hair and you don't lose your tension. Now we're going to incorporate the underneath section, just making sure when you incorporate this section into your first ponytail, that the head is tilted all the way back. What that's going to do is really tighten up at the nape of the neck so that when the head gets positioned back upright you don't get sagging underneath once again using my soft brush. But it's gon na brush that into position use that flexible, hold, hairspray and spray. It all the way up, we're just going to secure the underneath section with an elastic again now we're going to be working with our third section. What we're going to do is just bring all that hair back and completely get rid of the part using our soft paddle brush. What we want to do is just create a little bit of cushioning on that root area once that top center section is complete. We wanted to create a little bit of cushioning on our side sections as well, using the tip of the soft bristle brush, we're just going to remove any of the exterior back combing marks, but still keeping the cushioning in there using our volume powder. I'M just going to spray the entire root area, so we've got a really good gritty texture once that product is all in. You want a really massage that scalp unmold the hair into the position that you want, creating a v-shape in your hand, you're going to use your fingers and rake the hair into the position that you need once again. Try not to be too fussy about the lumps and bumps, because this is a textured ponytail. We want to make sure that we still see a lot of highs and lows, I'm just using my fingers to lift all of that back up in the front of the hairline and we're going to secure that in once, all three ponytails are secured. We want to hide this elastic in through here, so the way we're going to do that is by taking a little bit of hair from underneath the ponytail using our flexible, hold hairspray again spraying all the way to the tip and wrapping around our elastic. Once it's wrapped all the way around, just taking the ends of this section and pinning in to secure now, we've got our hair around our elastic. What we want to do is just create a really beautiful, rounded shape in through that front. So just using the tips of my fingers again, I'm just going to gently push that hair towards the hairline. Now we're going to work with our ponytail when creating a high textured ponytail, you want to create dramatic and a really big effect in that printer. Make the ponytail look as big as it possibly can. What we're going to do is divide the ponytail into two sections, separate the ponytail a little bit and right where these grooves are. We want to just use our soft brush and just push up it into the same direction that the ponytails in dropping our top section down once again spreading that top section out and we're just going to repeat that motion patiently waiting goodbye, that's so cool! Oh it's! So cool, and that is how you create a high textured ponytail, if there's anything in particular that you'd like to see make sure you comment below and don't forget to Like and subscribe.

Julie H.: She has more hair in her “little” side section then I do on my whole head!! So jealous!! So gorgeous!!

Michelle Westin: I didn't know a high ponytail should be aligned with your cheek bone. That's an amazing tip!

Mina: Ok so I tried this and it turned out perfect! Way less of a headache when the weight is supported by that middle section rather than your hairline. 100% great video!

Rachel Le: You explain the steps so well!

Quynh Anh Nguyen: Eventhough this is a lot of work for a "simple" ponytail, I'm glad I discovered it bc finally there is a possibly effective method to deal with my thick, heavy hair. Whenever I try to do a ponytail the usual way, it sags after 10 minutes and I have problems with flyaways

Mandy Dea DeGrace: I don't usually comment on videos but I wanted to say that is so beautiful, and thank you for taking the time to make a tutorial about this! I will now attempt to recreate this at home haha :) xoxo - Mandy

Alise Kauwe: Thank you! I was finally able to make a ponytail on my own hair! I’ve always wanted to wear a high ponytail but could never achieve that bouncy full tussled look. I just didn’t know the secret of dividing the hair in thirds!

r x: Step 1: have thick and manageable hair

jas9233: Amazing! Love the tip about aligning the pony with the cheekbone! Could you do a tutorial on a textured half ponytail?

N Gabriel: New subbie here ! Totally loved this informative textured high ponytail tutorial ! Very well explained and easy to follow! Your model has gorgeous hair

Elisha Doyle: I love the way she explains what she's doing and why shes doing it for. Ive watched 100000 vids on hair styling and I have to say that the way she explains everything makes this one of the easiest vids to learn from. Keep up the good work ☺

MoleRat: No doubt this look is beautiful; but who knew the humble ponytail could be so high maintenance.

krystle krywinski: Loved this! So detailed and so many tips!

Vicitry: Can confirm this looks great with straight hair too! Just take it easy on the teasing. Works great for my fine, thin hair, love this tutorial thanks for making it!

Kelli Burdette: Just wanted to send "kudos" to you on your efficient and informative instructional style. Your minimal style videos are not "over fluffed' with wasted and boring intro verbiage. You get straight to the point with helpful tips and visual instruction and speed through frames in appropriate areas. Very well executed. And you certainly present as an expert with expert advice. I will definitely subscribe and be watching more of your videos!! Thank you!"

Evelyn Nguyen Van: Hi Rachel! Fantastic video, love the details - as the jaw line and the cheek bone on the other video. I am super happy to find your channel and would love to see more. I am particularly interested to see slick low pony and slick ponytail with perfect middle pathway - ideally on the same model (I kind of have the same shape of head :) and it is not easy for me to do any hairstyle and I often end up just leaving my hair lose. In addition, would love to know more about the products you use in the videos - could you by any chance write these under the videos?

Mia Shirazi: Thanks for this, love how you explain everything and this little ticks like holding the back, great video, can’t wait for more xx

It's Weinye: Omg. I wished I found out about this method sooner! I am of Asian descent, so I have very thick, voluminous hair (too much that it's not easy to manage or style actually) and I'm usually really bad with styling too (no patience at all) but this is SO EASY and it worked on the FIRST TRY!! I'm never going to tie my pony tail the same ever again. Thanks for the tutorial!

Helter Skelter: Wow you are so good! I remember crying over sleek ponytail that I couldn’t achieve so many time huh..so I could use your lesson as a base thank you!

crstl89: Omg so happy I found this video. I have long thick hair and I’ve always sucked at doing nice hairstyles. I’m definitely going to practice using your techniques. I’m so excited! Can you do a video about to keep volume for people who have heavy thick hair? Even when I wear or down I feel it weighs it down. That’s why I prefer having short bob length hair at times is because of that bounce lol

Dulce Carreno: This definitely made it very easy to follow along..i have fine hair and it still worked for me .. thank u !!

Mapson: Beautiful - I love this look. The model and stylist have beautiful hair!

dlanse aldekheel: This was so easy yet so good thank youuuuu!!

Maria Salgado: I see a lot of comments complaining about this look but let me tell you this was so easy to do! And no it didn’t give me a headache it’s actually comfortable to wear and super cute look!

Zuzana Liščinská: This looks great! Thanks for all those lil tips ❤

Alla Ostapovich: Would love to see this same tutorial but with clip in hair extensions for those of us who aren’t as blessed as this model ‍♀️

Brigitta Ingka: i wish i can finally see this kind of tutorial with a hair thats not so gorgeous like that ..... seriously every hair tutorial videos are always with gorgeous and manageable hair .... with difficult hair sometimes please

Girly Girl: WOW!Great explanation and tips!Thank you!

Freya Davies: AWESOME!!! i LOVE this hairstyle! Can't wait to try it out xxx

Majella Vito: I love your tutorial! Thank you!

Tann Smith: so gorgeous! thx for the tutorial!

Gummie B: It looks amazing!!!

Etta: Too much work (and talent) for me to do this all, but the tip about lining it up with your cheekbone is amazing!!! Thank you!

*smok_princess* Gina.B.: beautiful model for the hair style I love it so much ❤️

Bryanda Dominguez: Loved this!!! Thank you

Sintia A: Wow, so simple and beautiful

Shreya Valunj: I love this!! Love high ponytails!!!

Sofia Nour: Tbh, the thickness of the hair and the curls does it all. And also the hair color she has going on, it gives the ponytail body, texture and the visual effect is amazing. Because she could’ve done that by herself, you put your hair down, shake it to have some volume, put an elastic in, take some hair out, throw some hairspray, work out a bit the ponytail like she did with the brush and you’re done in less than 3 minutes. But the video was great, very professional. I didn’t know about the cheek bone tip, thank you about that !

Spiritisalive1: I hope this works, I have double the hair of this model, my pony tails always sag, even with 3 ponytail holders. Update: skeptical I made the ponytail. Let me say it looks amazing, & I'm shook. Girl don't lie, it works.

Christina McLeod: I can't wait to try this... I had no idea I should be sectioning my ponytails into multiple ponytails to make it look better. I hate wearing ponytails because they always look so drab.

Romina Benitez Da Ponte: I’m definetly going to try this soon!

Venty: Well explained and looks really good

Jazzy Love: This is a good example Thank you Also love your makeup

Jo Marie: Guys I know this seems like a lot of steps but when you do it it literally takes like less than 5 minutes and it looks so cute !

Shatha Ba3law: She took about 8 ms to make a pony, and I do it when I am up to the door leaving the house

Deena DiIorio: Her hair is super long and super thick, and naturally straight and easier to style. Most people don’t have that hair texture or thickness, and this was a decent amount of steps - the end result is beautiful but I feel like hard to do on yourself vs, someone else doing it for you.

sivzy: as a makeup artist THIS has helped me soo much for a requested style. Xoo

YesorNo: I'd love to see a wedding look! Like for a bridesmaid Maybe a low bun or pony

buggy627: Omg this is the best pony tail tutorial I've ever seen

Lindsey Kennedy: I would love to see a textured braid or a boho braid style of some kind!

Mostly Messy: Who knew tying your hair into a ponytail was such a serious matter

P Johnson: Great tutorial!!! Thank you!

Seena: We need a makeup tutorial!! Just love your makeup

Lana Mesteth: Nice. My granddaughter's have very long thick Native America hair that always falls out within hours using just one hair tie. I will give this a try (missus all the hair spray) I hope this works thanks for the video it was great!

Charlotte Lescott: This is gorgeous!

Mariah Serle: When she said it’s ok to have lumps and bumps I was like that ain’t me. Whenever I have one little tiny bump that you can even see, I do my hair all over again. “ Beauty is pain, girls”

who says: Thank you! So helpful

Daniela Garita: Omg it was fabulous ❤️

Cherry Blossom: This is my first video I am watching from this channel and I already know its worth watching

Ben marsh: For everyone saying this is too much work and time. This is a professional approach at achieving a textured high pony in salon. It's also probably intended at other hairdressers to give them tips and tricks. (You can keep your at home, rushed pony's to yourself)

Melissa Price: Could you make the pony tail without separating it into parts? And still follow all the other parts? Just curious, what difference would that make it you didn’t separate it into sections?

Alissa Lynn: Wow she has the most amazing hair to start with!!! So jealous. Love this pony though

Bella Atlantis: Please do a super slick high pony tail tutorial...

Eli724: Her "third section" of hair is like all the hair I have on my head...

Rapunzel Rider: Can you do it on a person with very fine hair? I always see tutorials of people with beautiful hair yet here I am with high forehead and ten hairs and I am just hopeless I can see my skin through my hair

Safiyah_xoxo: The ponytail is not really that high tbh but it looks really nice, she’s rocking it

sara Shalhoub: Can you please do a half ponytail version from this hairstyle
