Hey friends, my name is melinda, i'm a sephora beauty director and i'm getting pretty excited about the holidays, so i've been playing with some new hairdos, i'm on, like my second or third day hair. I washed my hair a few days ago and it needs a little jejin. Let me show you how i did it three day. Hair means. Usually my hair has gotten a little bit oily. I have super fine hair, so it just like two days goes oily and i have to give it a little bit of love. So one of my favorite dry shampoos, as of late, is from amica. This is the perk up dry, shampoo one. I just think the packaging is adorable and it looks really cute on my vanity, but it kills it. The smell is amazing, it does the job quickly. I don't get that residue left over. I really love this so like any dry shampoo about 8-10 inches away from your roots, i'm just going to give it a little shake and lift up my hair here and then target the root of my hair. Then once you spray it in give it a second, i don't touch it yet i'm going to move to the other side and let it do its work for me and i'm really just targeting this front area, because that's where i lose the volume it kind of Like hangs because of the heaviness of the oil that's been produced, and then in the back you always want a little extra in the back all right. So now the dry shampoo has absorbed your oils. It'S done that work for you, i'm just going to take my fingers and give it a little bit of a judge to work that in kind of already did the job for me, but just to make sure and then in the back all right. So, let's get down to it, i'm going to show you how to do this pony twist and it's pretty simple but just follow along as i go so first things. First, i'm going to section my hair into three: i'm going gon na start on my side here. Just push that to the front, get it out the way, then i have these little elastics they're, just like little plastic elastics that are really great because they're tiny and they disappear in your hair. It'S almost like, they don't exist, so i'm gon na use one of those for the center piece and create a little pony. You don't want to get it too close to your scalp or too tight. You want to leave some room between the elastic and your scalp. So that you can separate the hair now for the second one, going to grab another little elastic same thing, kind of pull that hair together loosely and wrapping around the elastic, i'm just wrapping it around twice again, the elastic doesn't have to be tight. The pony doesn't have to be tight, you want some room for wiggle and then, lastly, that third one i'm just gon na pull aside and give it a little bit of two wraps with the elastic and voila. We have three ponies. Next step is basically you're going to start on each of the side, ponies and separate, so you can see i'm putting my hands above the elastic and i'm separating the hair outwards to create a hole i'm going to use that hole in order to put my pony Through i like to give the pony on the bottom a little bit of a twist first, that just helps kind of keep all the hair together. So when you pull it through, you don't lose any of it and then you'll kind of feel like it tug once it tugs through the elastic you'll. You'Ll know you've wrapped it perfectly, and it creates this little twist. It'S really pretty same thing. On the other side, we're just going to split that hair above the elastic, give the pony a little bit of a twist and then pop it through the center. Once you've done this, you can use your fingers similar to the way you would kind of judge a braid that you've created. You can pull the hair apart to create more volume. So, by pulling apart the little twist above the elastic, it's going to create a little bit more volume, a little bit more style that you can see. And it's going to be important for when we get to our last step, because you're going to have more hair to work with to cover up those elastics at the end. Okay, so the next step - and this is where i want you to pay a little bit closer attention - is we're going to start the twist. So i'm going to take the middle ponytail and put it through underneath my side ponytail. So, where i made that hole and created the twist on the side, ponytail, i'm just going to open that back up and then i'm going to put my fingers through the top reach underneath grab that middle ponytail and pull it straight through next we're going to do The same exact thing on the other side grab that pony we already created separate the hair, put your fingers through the top down through the bottom, to grab the entire other side. So these are the two ponies we just wrapped together. Both of them together are gon na go through that last pony. If you lose any of your little pieces that come out the front and you want to pull them back out now's the time also, this is the time to do the jing i mentioned pulling that hair apart to create more volume and kind of cover up those Rubber bands don't hesitate either to take like a little pin a hairpin if you need and kind of place, part of the pony over the hairband. If you need to you, can just finagle it a bit. So this is the point in time where you can kind of pull your hair out, create a little bit more texture, you're, always going to want to have either curls or waves when you're doing this style. If it's straight, the lack of texture isn't going to be a best friend to you. So make sure you keep that in mind. I also want to point out that i do have hair extensions, so i'm going to judge a little bit and pull that hair apart to make sure i'm hiding everything that might be sticking out. So we're all done now. You can just add a little bit of hairspray. This is by choice, but i always like to do it. One of my favorites, as of late, is from moroccan oil. This is the luminous hairspray in the medium finish, the medium hold and it's beautiful, because it adds so much shine to your hair, but it's not too stiff. So these waves will still have some movement. I'M just gon na give it a little bit of a shake. Basically, just pick this up, my little bangs hanging out pick this up and give it a little spritz. You don't need much and that kind of i feel like just keeps it in place throughout the day the pieces don't separate. I have fine hair, so it helps a lot and then the other side. Also it's a great way to keep your bangs out of your face. If they bother you and then finally, i'm just going to spritz a little bit on the back of my hair and give those waves just a touch more texture and hold so just a few easy steps. And it's a really cool way to elevate your hair. For a holiday party, let me know in the comments below, if you're going to try this out or, if you've seen any other really cool hairstyles link them.
