Blunt Haircut For Women | Short Bob Haircut Tutorial

Jocelyn Mcclellan I'm excited for this video because I get asked all the time. What is your haircut? How does your stylist do it? So this is the exact .... This is down to the nitty gritty of how we cut my hair and what my haircut consists. Of. And you're going to find that out right now in this video. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So is it a textured bob haircut? Is it a layered haircut? What is the kind of haircut that I have And what kind of haircut are women craving right now, When you're, seeing all the different haircuts that women have it gets confusing because you go into the haircut and you say ,''. This is what I want ,'', but you don't know what kind of hair type you have., So your hair type is going to make a difference on your hair. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So when I am searching for haircuts, I go in to Instagram and I actually ... You can put in a tag that is a tag for haircuts or lobs or bob haircuts or blonde bobs or whatever.. So you're searching a keyword within this. Now. So what I did was I put in blonde hair cuts, I think or short haircuts, that I searched on Instagram and these hashtags would come up with what these haircuts were.. So I went even deeper and then I found a stylist in my area that could cut my hair that I was hoping could cut my hair, how I wanted. So I searched my area and blonde bobs or short hair cuts or just stylists in that area. And Then I'm like ``, Okay, I need a blonde.. I need her to do good with blonde.''. She doesn't look just really brassy and things like that. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So that's how I found my stylist and having the background in hair .... I don't currently have my cosmetologist license, but I did have that background went to school to go. Do it. I've been doing hair like messing around in the hair world for quite some time, but I don't currently have my cosmetology license, but still, even with that, I'm just going to show you what to look for with your stylist., I'm even bringing out my shears And I'm going to show you the difference between a textured haircut and a layered haircut and then we're going to go into this bob. Jocelyn, Mcclellan, All right.. So first things: first, you sit at the chair.. She asks you what you want.. You show her a picture.. This is what I want., So I'm going to search really quickly., I'm going to do blonde bob., Okay And I'm going to go to the tags. And there are 247 blonde bob posts.. And so I'm going to look up what those blonde bobs are. And I'm going to find a hair type. That is styled just how I want it, but I'm also going to pay attention to. Can my hair actually do that, Like? What'S my hair, type., Jocelyn Mcclellan? So I find this picture., You can hit save., You can hit that little save button and you can go to save a collection and you can put it to your hair section.. I made a hair one., So there's this plus sign that you could put .... You could make it be hair. And then it would save that girl's hair in this collection for you, so that you always have that. All right. So then I would hit hair and I would save that. And this girl's hair. If that's what I liked, I would save it. I'd keep scrolling and I would save it like curly.. Could I master that with straight hair, Could I master it with curly hair? This girl looks like she has not a ton of hair., It's blonde.. It might be like your hair type. And that's the stuff that you save and you look for in that haircut. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So as you go through these and you're saving more and more hairstyles, whether you like her color, whether you like her cut you like the length., There's a couple of different things, you like., She might have bangs that you could use or she doesn't have bangs.. That type of thing., That's how you determine that and figure that out. Okay. So this one. Like super cute., I love the color that she has. If I want it to be all over platinum right And then I would just hit the save button. I'd go to save to collection and I'd put it in the hair, one that I did. Okay.. Then it saves that forever. And then how to find the saved ones that you do. You go to your Instagram page. You go to these three bars. There you go to the saved and then you find that one that is for the hair. And then now you have all of the ones that you saved right there, that you can go back and check out and look for. Okay. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So when you sit down at the stylist you determine this is my hair type.. This girl looks like my hair type.. Can I get that hair color that she has If you're wanting hair my color, but your hair's super dark you're not going to get my color.? If you start out with a hair color, that's kind of like this, you have a higher chance of getting my color., But as we get to the cut, I get asked all the time. What is your haircut So I'm going to show. I'm going to turn around.. You will see that I don't have the undercut any longer., It's just one layer across.. Now this isn't a fresh haircut., So it doesn't look as good as it possibly can.. I apologize, but it's how it rolls.. But what you want is what you want. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So the question is: do I have textured hair And the answer is not really but kind of sort of.. The other question do I have layers in my hair. The answer is not really., Maybe kind of sort of. If you look at it one way., So I'm going to give you an example right now.. So when somebody cuts your hair, they part it off right. They give it apart and they part it off.. So we're going to pretend that I have this perfect part right now, but as they're going through your hair, a real layer, your stylist is going to take their comb and they're going to figure out what kind of layering they need to do.. So I'm going to show you a basic layer right, now., Jocelyn, Mcclellan, So basic layer is, depending on the angle that they're going to be cutting it they're going to be going here and then bringing it out depending on the level of where it's at in the Hair. But a basic, true layer, they're going to bring it out and see this whole entire section right here: They're going to hold their hands a certain way. That whole entire section they're going to completely cut off all of it.. Okay, Then they're going to come with this next layer. They're, going to hold it out a little differently and that's going to match up with these because they're going to hold one of those up and they're going to cut it all of it to match it. Perfectly. And they're going to go higher and higher, depending on how high you want your highest layer to be., Okay, So, depending on that depends on the angle that they pull. Jocelyn Mcclellan With my haircut. It'S different.. It is texturized, but that is all.. So what my stylist does is they'd see where I have heavy volume and they see where we want to kind of do. Things. And they'll take a [, inaudible, 00:07:29 ] section and they'll go in. What'S called a tip cut or a point cut, or something like that., So they're going to see that. They're going to fan it out. Some of them do it a little differently.. Every stylist is different, but they'll possibly fan it out in their fingers and then they're going to take their shears and they're going to come up in here and make these little cuts like so.. Some of them like to come in here and just do a couple smooth slender digs, because what they're doing is they're helping, add texture and volume., But with my haircut we wanted there to hardly be any texture. That'S seen whatsoever., But the only way that this can be included as layers is, if you called them internal layers, which means there are some hairs in there that have a layered effect to them. Jocelyn Mcclellan. So as you look at my hair, though, you see that everything is one layer across the board, because when my stylist went in and put those tip cut, point cuts in there. It was such a thin section and then as it's ..., Because that's why they spread it out and fan it out.. That'S why they don't hold it in like this, so they don't take a huge section. And then that's how it works., Okay, Jocelyn Mcclellan. So that's the difference in my haircut.: It's not a layered haircut.. It is just texturized the smallest bit and how we choose to texturize. It is by feeling my hair of where I have a lot of hair versus more small hair.. So we wouldn't go in and add texture in here, because I don't have very much, but we would add in texture back in here. One to help create volume and two to help remove some of the weight.. So that is the difference in the two.. So now you know if there's texturing going on, if my hair is texturized or if my hair is layered and the answer is, it is minimally texturized., So you can't see any of it.. They also won't do that top layer. Jocelyn Mcclellan. The other question I get all the time is when my stylist parts, my hair, does she part it on the side down the middle or where And the answer to that is we move it around.? So we don't just keep it in one place, because I part my hair differently, all the time. And then that's what we do.. So I want to make sure that I look like I have the same haircut on either side parted down the middle parted. On the side and parted on the other, side., Okay, Jocelyn Mcclellan, All right., So that is my bob haircut.. It'S super easy., The other thing that you want to make sure that your stylist does, though, is the bob part of my haircut is always cut dry.. It'S never cut wet. If they need to create a perimeter of my haircut, they'll cut that part wet, but they will dry it out and then they will take a flat iron to it, and then they will ... Or round brush it flat iron. It so that it's all completely straight. And then that's when they'll go in and add just a little bit to it for the cuts.. So if your stylist is not cutting your hair dry, that is not going to be good because also they'll take bigger chunks out. If you're, just wanting texturizing done. But also depending on the way your hair is whether it's curly or straight is going to be a factor in things too. And you need to make sure you get a stylist that can figure that out. Jocelyn Mcclellan So for 2021. I wanted to have my hair a little bit. Longer. You've always seen it short all the time, and I want to do it a little longer so no more undercut for now, because I had that for ten years or so., No more undercut., It does have some texture, but it's minimal.. There are no layers. And I part my hair every which way. I have medium fine hair, but I have a lot of hair.. So that's the hair type I have. My natural hair color is about a level seven eight somewhere in there., And so when we are able to take it blonde, we would take it to that platinum because it's easy to with my hair. Jocelyn Mcclellan. As far as styling it goes, I'm able to style it completely straight and it still look absolutely beautiful. And then also I'm able to give it other curls too.. Before I ever curl my hair, I put product in my hair, which gives it volume, texture and protection.. So those are the three things that I always focus on before I do my hair. And that's really all she wrote. It's getting more to the lob family, but it is a bob.. This is the hairstyle that I chose for now and we'll see where we go from there.. But since I get that question all the time with what is my haircut and how do I explain it to a stylist? Those are things that you want to pay attention to, but I kid you not going onto Instagram and researching that out has saved me. Jocelyn Mcclellan And I want to show you one more thing., So I'm in Southern Utah.. So if I do Southern Utah hair stylist and I use that for a tag - there are 5,900 tags from Southern Utah hairstylists that they use. And so now I can, if I see a girl that has hair that I, like I'm, going to scroll through this. And, Let'S say that's the kind of haircut that I wanted., So I'm going to click on that.. Then I'm in a click on this girl's page and I'm going to ask myself: does she do a lot of blondes And do they pull the colors that I would want it to be Jocelyn Mcclellan, But this girl, whoever this is the Alexa Meyer ..., Whoever you Are I'm talking about you she's accepting new clients.? She likes to throw color in people's hair.. So if that's what you want, she might be a really good choice for you, but I'm scrolling through her pictures and for my hair type. I don't see a ton of pictures with my hair type.. She does a lot of short hair cuts and a lot of color. She's really good at the short., And I see some faces. I recognize on here.. This is cool.. Look at that., Jocelyn, Mcclellan, She's really good at that.. So if that's, what you're wanting she'd be good for it., But all you truly have to do is go into this and find a hair style that you like and save it, and click on that person.. This girl Really good with long hair., Really good, with showcasing her long hair.. So if you had long hair she'd be an awesome stylist for you, where the other girl she seemed to be focused more on really short hair and that's how you do it.. That'S how you find your girl.
