My friend Mel came to get her hair done for her big announcement video!

Hey y'all, what's up so welcome back uh here we have my friend melanie. She hit me up. She has a really big announcement and she needed her hair done for the occasion she sent me a picture of the dress, and then she sent me these two hairstyles. So that ponytail is a picture of a pony i did for a fashion show before and the down style. I'M not sure who did that, but it's really pretty, but i told her. No, you got to go with the pony. It'S going to show the top of the dress, it's going to, let the shoulders be out, and it's just going to be perfect. So that's what we're going to do today so using my 22 titania iron, i'm just going to go in and press her hair because she wants her ponytail to be slick, one and two. It'S been a while, since i've seen her and done her hair. So i got to check it out and make sure that her ends are good. So why not check it out, while it's straight just remember, no matter what hairstyle you're getting whether it's a protective style, low manipulation style or what you always want to take care of. Your hair, underneath so she's, been wearing her hair natural a lot lately and haven't really been paying much attention to her ends. So, that's why i'm here to make sure that they're good, so as you can see, although the hair is very healthy, the ends are not so much so we need to take that off. I always take a picture and just show the client what their hair looks. Like so that they won't be alarmed and that they know the good thing about melanie, you see is she's showing me right. There go ahead and take it off right. There everybody's not like that and that's okay, because a lot of people don't like getting their hair cut, but melanie just happens to be one of those people like i don't care just do what you got to do so we're going to go in with my her Strands of hair shears and we are going to take those ends off and i'm going to go right above the sentence layer. You see she basically has like this hole right in the middle, so i'm just going to go right over top of that, so that her hair can be heavy all the way through, like i was saying earlier, yes, she's been wearing her hair natural for a while. I think, maybe about a good year now, and the only thing about wearing your hair in the natural curl is that you can't always see what's truly going on with your ends, so you don't have to press it out. But my recommendation, in my opinion, is that you just at least stretch it with the blow dryer, so you can truly see what your ends are up to and then you can take care of them um. I just want y'all to remember that you have to take care of your hair. You have to take care of your ends. You have to do deep conditioners every now and then, because, if not your damaged hair is only going to get worse, it can't get any better unless you take care of it. So make sure you do that, no matter what style you're getting so now that we have the health of her hair back on solid ground, i'm going to go ahead and i'm going to style it so to start her ponytail she wants it in you know. Maybe the crown area of her head, so we are just going to section off the first section to create her ponytail. So i do a section by section because i like the hair to lay she's flying to late tomorrow and i just happen to be home in philly, so i'm not going to be on set with her tomorrow. So i'm going to take this murray's and i'm going to go section by section and just slick her hair up. If i was to lay it all back and only put the murrays in the spray on the outer layer, then the hair in the middle would be soft and it would get frizzy and come through. You know a little sooner, so i want her hair to be set in place so that she doesn't need me while she's at her photo shoot once you have that first section secured then you're going to go in and do the next section. Just repeat those same steps: this time, i'm going to spray a little bit of gas to be free spray just to help it stay in place and so that it won't move. I don't always use sprays but again she's going to be away from me and she's going to be on camera, and i don't want her. I don't want a hair out of place. So that's why i'm gon na go very hard, no pun intended um. I see now that this layer is done. We are going to do it one more time on the last one. So if you watched my last few videos, we've been doing question and answer. So let's do a question. Nikki says: is there a way for me to change my curl pattern because i've been wanting to loosen my pattern, so i will wear it natural. More often, please help uh. So, honestly, there is no way to change your pattern other than with a chemical or heat training. Some people experience a change in patterns during a health crisis, after certain medications or surgery is involved. I also have heard recently that even some women experience it after pregnancy. To me, your best bet is to just fall in love with the pattern you have and just try some styles that include stretching and manipulating it with products, rollers twists and braid outs to make it look how you want it to look so i like to use The comb a lot just to get those ripples out and you know sometimes when you brush in a ponytail up, you get a bunch of lumps and stuff. So the comb totally helps with that make sure you are using a ponytail holder with no metal clasp and make sure you're not using rubber bands that will break your hair off really really fast. So with hairstyles like this, it's best to just situate the edges before you wrap it and set it that way. It just holds everything in place, so she's not getting like swoopy baby hairs. Today she decided to get. You know just a little little something something but speaking of baby hair, somebody got on here and said just retire. The baby hair is getting old, a slick back, and you are still very pretty because i put up a post of myself in my um youtube story with baby hair, and i just want to say this: it's okay! If you don't like baby hair, you just don't have to get it the way each individual expresses themselves through the art of their hair is their business. It'S not hurting you how someone else chooses to wear their hair on their head. It'S like what, if somebody walked up to you and commented to you, that your hairstyle is getting old. That'S not our business! If we don't like something, we just won't get it. That'S simply it like. It'S super simple. If you don't like something, don't get it, but you don't have to trip out on other people because they choose colors or baby hair or a hairstyle that you don't like. It'Ll just make life a lot easier. If you just really didn't care, you know what i'm saying in my nice voice. Okay, now that i have her hair tied down with um, these are sanic strips a lot of people like what is that paper you're putting on the head? It'S basically like a paper scarf. It just helps. Lay that hair down perfectly. You know why you handle the rest. Some people go into the dryer with it just to set it, but her hair is not wet, so she doesn't have to go under now. I'M just going to take the remainder of the hair and i am going to braid it down to the end foreign. I see once you get to the end, just fold that braid over now. Listen, you don't have to get any special hair for these kind of ponytails this pack, it's called remy blue. I forget what company it is. You just got ta look closely, but i think i might have got 14 or 16 inches and i am just going to start at the bottom of the braid and i'm going to take these. I got these hair pins that are matte, so they hold extra firmly and i am just going to pin it right up into that braid and what i'm gon na do. I'M gon na wrap that weft all the way around the braid all the way up to the base. So so, while i wrap this pony, let's do another question: can you answer why my hair falls out and what to do? Okay? So i know it sounds like a lot, but normally our hair sheds anywhere from 75 to 150 strands a day. Those are the long strands. If, however, you comb, your hair and short pieces, are falling, it's breaking not shedding for breakage, it could be from dryness. It could be from it being brittle or you could be wearing the wrong material, such as wool or cotton on your hair or neckline. Keep your hair moisturized! Wear a silk or satin scarf on your head at night. Try deep conditioners, drink plenty of water and do steam treatments. However, if it's excessive long strands shedding talk to a well-recommended dermatologist, not a popular one, but personally recommend it a doctor. That truly cares, because your issue is more than likely internal, you could be lacking vitamins or you could simply just be stressed. Okay. So when i finish wrapping, i just take a piece of hair from that last part of the weft, and i just wrap it around. Really tight that helps eliminate some of the hair pins because you all know we didn't talked about gangster hair. Pins won't want them harassing us, okay, so i bought some box braids already done. These are really for crochet braids, but you're gon na see what i do with them today. I usually like to braid my own braid, but since i found these, my life has been so much easier. I'M going to take the base of this braid see it's a little loop up here and i am just going to take a hair pin and i'm going to stick it through the loop super simple. Now i'm going to take it and i'm just going to attach it, make sure that you or your client is not in pain when that pin goes in because once it's in, if it's annoying you you're, going to usually have to take the whole thing out. Just to get to it - and i am just going to wrap it around to cover the weft okay, one more question, so let's say i could assume done for my stylist, but a few days later, my roots are starting to revert. How do i combat this, and what upkeep can i do at home to maintain my soap press? Okay, i would say: try a good anti-freeze serum before getting pressed, that's going to help bust that frizz as soon as it comes along also. I know it's probably at random times, but if possible, wrap your hair when you feel it coming along more than likely you're just sweating from your scalp wrap it until you cool down and also every single night, and it should be fine. So now i'm just going to remove this and x strips, so we can see how late it is. Foreign y'all know no matter what we going in with that glass brain shine, shine shiny. Yes, it looks so cute, i'm also going to add a little got to be free spray just to help it uh, you know hold because she's leaving she got to take a whole flight. So i just want to make sure that everything is right in place and her hair is finished and that wasn't so bad huh, like you think you could do that at home. If you do make sure you hashtag deeper than hair tv, take a picture and show me on instagram. Follow me on instagram and subscribe to this channel. Oh yeah um. I can't forget to show you how her video came out. Her hair stayed perfect. The video is beautiful and here is her big announcement. So thank you, everybody for watching and, as always, i will see you next time.

Tierra J: Her pregnancy announcement video! So beautiful! Pony poppin! ✨

PAINTEDBYSPENCER: You're so talented. I'm your biggest fan ‍

Derek Chen: I’m a latino male who doesnt even wear makeup or anything flamboyant .. I really have no business being here but omg your videos always calm me down. Makes me happy seeing your customers happy at the end!

Audrey Bradford: Interesting technique you used to put the ponytail on over the braid. I'm going to try that on my straight hair because it always slips off

Fɛiىty Aʐʐ ċɦaռtɛʟ: She is gorgeous aww bless her heart wishing her nothing but the best with the baby ♡♡ stay safe

Jenna Conway: I’m a white woman with crappy ratty thin hair and I watch every one of your videos in absolute amazement. Idk if it’s envy or admiration but every woman you work with is literally a goddess and so are you and I’m just so happy to be able to learn about all hair types in such a kind environment ❤️ my husband is perplexed as to why I would be interested in learning because he doesn’t think I’ll ever have an opportunity to use the knowledge but I literally don’t care. I can’t stop watching!!!

Rach Mae: I'm white, but I'm dating a black guy, and I've always wondered how I would take care of my kids hair, honestly I've been watching for a few months now, and I can say proudly that you've given me so much confidence and I've learned so many good tips from you that I think I can take care of my future kids hair

JustC: I was thinking a combo of the two styles, with that center cornrow leading into a sleek ponytail, would be bomb woth that dress.

Kayla P: For the girl who commented “the baby hair thing is getting old” honey if u don’t have baby hairs JUST SAY THAT‍♀️

너의 존재가 내 힘이야BTS ARMY: I’m sorry but THE SKIN omggg she’s so beautiful CONGRATS FOR HER PREGNANCY

Ah-C: She looks beautiful!!! She’s an absolute doll, wishing the best for her and her family!!!!

GorJess Kinkz: I've been a licensed cosmetologist for less than 2 years. We know when we graduate we still haven't had that much practice with OUR hair. I have binge watching your videos and. Learning so much. So thank you for sharing your gift with us sis ♥️

kristeena c: Shes breathtaking! She looked absolutely beautiful! Her hair was everythingwish her a safe pregnancy & blessings to her & her baby

MzAbstractMind: That ponytail was definitely the right choice! Lookin’ like a goddess girl!!! Congrats!!

jameslex26: Is anyone else here purely for the entertainment of watching her and listening to her while she does hair? I’m a guy with short hair, no interest in ever working with hair myself, yet I’ve been subscribed for at least a year and watch every video - and even talk to myself like “Wow, she did a great job!” Or “yep, Gotta get those edges.” - like, WTF do I even know? Just really enjoy your videos

urmywonderwall: lets just take a moment to appreciate how perfect and pretty that clients side profile is

Shenice Says: Love how she shows her clients what is happening to their hair.

Miya Johnson: While watching this I was thinking of all the times people ask me why I do certain things with my hair. And then your voice came in and reminded everyone that what someone chooses to do with their own hair is no body's business but theirs. Thanks for the positivity and that perfectly timed reminder!

Barbara Gál: She has the face of an ancient goddess. So beautiful!

Angal De La Rosa: Shooting my shot. At a really young age (8 or 9) I had a bald spot appear in the middle of my head (size of a ritz cracker) and my mother was uneducated on black hair so she never treated this issue with castor oil or any home remedies. She just took me to the doctors constantly and they never fully figured what it was after countless tests and scans so they ruled between telogen effluvium and alopecia but never gave an exact diagnosis. Years later the spot continued to grow with all the testing and all the failed injections that were done on my head and now the area has only gotten bigger and spread out. Some of the shots and testing worked in very small areas but I’m still bald in the center of my head. I’m only 21 and I’m wondering if you’ve ever had a client have this issue or if there is anything you think would help. If I’m able to sit in your chair I’m not looking for any handouts, I just desperately want a solution. I know this sounds cliche but I’m way too young to be going bald already. Pls help.

Avatar Kyoshi: I really like what you do for us blackwomen your Chanel gave me the confidence as a teenager to go to a salon with MY hair that is a huge mess by the way

Alida Marie: Your friend is absolutely stunning. she looks like a goddess in the clip at the end of the video. You did an amazing job on her hair!!! Such a talented woman<3

Judé McDuffi: she’s gorgeous the cut and style is beautiful wishing her a safe delivery and a beautiful new beginning

Madelyne Martinez: Omg her hair came out FLAWLESS ❤️❤️ I’m definitely gonna do this style at home and congratulations to her she looked stunning for her gender reveal video ‼️‼️☺️

Liza Rausch: Going section by section for the ponytail is amazing, I‘ve never seen that done before! So smart! My ponytail always slips down and gets frizzy super quick. I‘m gonna try this next time!

Shylie: I love watching your videos especially as a cosmetology student and a mixed woman who didn’t understand how beautiful her curls were ❤️ I was raised by a white mom in a white family so I always stood out I hated having big hair I begged for relaxers to fit in but thankfully my mom put the love into my hair when I didn’t and I can’t wait to help kids fall in love with their natural hair like my mom helped me and I absolutely love the message behind your videos you’re my absolute favorite

Legends: "In my nice voice." Lol, that tickled me. The ponytail was such a great choice for the final look--simply stunning. And her skin is diviiine.

Best Bug: I'm white and also I don't have any hair... but I really like watching you do other people's hair. It's very relaxing. I think it has to do a lot with the positivity and the way you take care of your clients.

Danielle Brenke: She looks beautiful in her video, and you did a great job on her hair. It is so healthy and pretty. I wish her the best with her pregnancy.

shawnta brown: Awwwww this came out soooo beautiful and congratulations to her, praying for a safe delivery and a healthy baby!!!

uniquely1made: This was done so beautifully! Definitely reminds me I need my ends professionally cut . Also , that first question is crazy because I literally just noticed my curl pattern is nearly gone and water doesn’t absorb in my hair like it used to I think I accidentally heat trained/damaged my hair smh

Midnight Magic Tarot: Well said on letting people express themselves. We’re just trying to be who we are and do what feels like we’re home in our own bodies

LovelyMommy: Beautifully done (as usual)! What a beautiful announcement, congratulations to her

Kea Jones: I absolutely love this style! I'm glad you broke it down because i struggle getting the hair flat in ponytails so this was helpful. The client is beautiful and i love your poised & classy clapback! #DoYou ‍♀️ Love your channel and thanks for sharing your talent with us! ❤️❤️

Dominique: Love every Deeper Than Hair video! So relaxing to just watch and listen. Very informative and I loved the take on edges and letting people be with how they express themselves through hair.

Le English Muffin: I don't even have this natural hair type and I still love watching your videos! Your care and professionalism amazes me; more than the results that are perfection girl! Thanks for recording these appointments, super cool to watch :)

Samantha _Chan: I love how she does voice overs so she can talk to them while she does the hair...I would love to get my hair done by her...UGH

QD_W: You seem like such a kind, conscientious and realistic person. I love watching your videos and listening to all of your hair advice. Thank you! P.s. your nails are always really pretty, too!

wiglicious: Oh my word - I welled up at the end! I figured her announcement would be a perfume line or something whatever - but no! A baby! Absolutely beautiful well done both of you! x

Chrissy S: This entire video was so well done !! Loved every part and congrats to your beautiful client

Amber a Gem&Stone: Preach! Thank you for being a hairstylist that knows hair and cares about it. And most of all, thank you for politely reminding people that if they don't like something, they don't have to do it themselves. I'm natural and most of the time, I wear my natural kinky, coily hair twisted back like an old lady librarian, and I love it. But I care for my hair. I'm thoroughly tired of people that have to comment that they don't like how I wear my natural hair and that they love my hair straightened. So thank you! And to the model your bronzed skin and baby bump, are beautiful!

B.Champagne: This is the first slick ponytail I've seen that has not involved a crap ton of heat and sprays and glue!! I'm such a fan!

Mecca Lucas: That was a beautiful video for her baby announcement and her look was on point <3

Miss Understanding: I really felt the part where you spoke of loving your curl pattern. I have absolutely fallen in love with mine!!! I found products that enhance my texture and address my issues (low porosity and tight coils) while keeping my hair healthy. Love your channel and your positive energy!!!

Claudia Vélez: Okay the hair is bomb af... but I also want to know how is her skin so perfect?!?!?! She looks as if she has no pores my broken out face could never

Adalynn Grace Shuler: I know im late but mel is so beautiful and so is everyone reading this i hope she does well with her baby

Lorie Boo: Damn her skin is so clear :0

SarahLee: Her hair is gorgeous! Before flat ironing, you could see how shiny and soft it looks

Alice Walker: The care, attention to detail and level of expertise in your work is so awesome

Jade Alycia: I tried this hairstyle and it’s my new go to! I added in a few flat twists at the top crown around and decided to shoot some videos to show off the look. Thank you so much for sharing!

Cristina Mintas: You are the only lady i will watch religiously and rewatch time and time again. Even tho i have caucasian hair, you and other black hairstylist taught me way way more about hair than anybody else. You are worth gold! Your work is gold! And your love for hair, and the care you put into every head of hair you meet is worth diamonds ❤

Ms Chantaé: congrats to Mel.Safe Delivery, hun!! She looks effortlessly flawless

Audie W: Thank you this is literally the first time I have heard of someone else say anything about don’t judge anyone else based off their hair decisions if they want to have neon pink hair let them or be completely natural let them I have always looked at it as it’s not ur body it’s not ur hair u don’t know why they have chosen that hair style maybe because they need that extra motivation in life or maybe they just want to . Lots of woman today worry about the wrong things and want to bring people down n truthful it is not their problem nor their business!!

Sarah: i wrote about your channel in a discussion post for my gender and women’s studies class today! what you do for black women is so inspiring. keep it up! sending love

Georgia Balan: This was a wonderful video for several reasons: very clear and precise demonstration with instructions, beautiful client with a lovely announcement, beautiful work and I LOVE how you responded to that baby hair comment.

alice mi: You're an excellent stylist and an asset to your community. A woman who loves her job and does it well really has nothing to fear. This is who you are. (By the way, I don't know anything about this type of hair, I watch you all the way from Greece. But what you do with people's hair is truly artistic!)

A.Tanyale: I like how you “nicely” put the control freaks in their place!!! #mindYOURbusiness

Sharice Rodriguez: Awwww congrats on the new life! You are such a good friend to share her video with us so we can all honor her at this time.

FE Grace: Ms. Kee from Philly you kept your response short and classy (I'm also from Philly, so I know you kept it professional because it could have went another way)! Also I had never seen a ponytail done that way (it good to learn something new every day); I am use to seeing people wrapping the wefts around the base of the ponytail. Thanks for being a hair doctor, teacher, and styles! I really enjoy your content

LoveMyCurls: We can always count on you to deliver great content Sis! ❣❣

Destiny S: That dress is gorgeous and that ponytail was the icing on the cake and her video was beautiful!!!

Malama: Can we all talk about her t shirt - “I am black history”

Lynn Walter: Baby hairs are everything ❤️. It’s such a classy addition to hairstyles

Niecy Allison: WOW, that is what I thought that when you completed her ponytail, but once I saw the video I had no words. Girl!! The hair was absolutely perfect for her dress, I hope she has that photo enlarged and framed. That beautiful moment should be captured in time forever.

starzzzy: Her announcement video was gorgeous! And this ponytail style actually seems doable!

MIMI CAN TOO: I love how you broke down that baby hair comment. People to often feel like they need to express their opinion about what another person chooses to do. I feel like people have gotten caught up with this social media mindset of thinking their opinion really matters and it doesn't. My grandmother used to say "mind the business that pays you"....Love your vlogs and cant wait for the next. Stay blessed.

Andrew Scheve: YAS BE TOO MUCH! BE THIS EXTRA! Congratulations momma! All the love and happiness in the world to you! You look stunning! ❤️❤️❤️

Peyton: Can we just appreciate she did all her hair looking amazing with nails on! x

Witney Mathebula: Watching her videos doing client's hair is so damn satisfying ‍♀️ Actually here to relax ❤️

glazese: I love it when you take pics of the back of the hair, too many people want length over health. Hopefully more people won’t be afraid after seeing how healthy and strong looking their hair can be after seeing this.

Lydia Brown: “In my nice voice” When she said that I subscribed! Love how she just nicely said stop being negative and worry about your own business

Tierra Latrice: I love watching your videos! Your voice is so calming and relaxing. Your attitude is so positive and you radiate so much light ❤️

DeeperthingsofGod: Your videos are so soothing. I literally go into relaxation mode when I watch your videos. I absolutely LOVE watching you cut hair with those shears you use.

The Institute: Such a beautiful hairstyle and her announcement was so beautiful as well!!

Char Turner: The hair, the pony, the dress. She looks lovely. When she turned around I went "Aww". congratulations Momma!! "I wish I hair would step out of line on my watch" Murray's Pomade.

LavenderDust: It's so satisfying to see thin ends getting cut and looking all thick and bouncy again. This makes me so relaxed, I love this channel so much.

Floofles: I can't have the baby swoops but I think they're lovely! Hair art is art! Love all the different styles and directions people can take it in.

Dana Foster: Awww! Congratulations Mel ♥️ her hairstyle was perfect for this shoot Kee.

ILuvAyeAye: Women I know seem to have seen their curl pattern change during times of hormonal fluctuation - puberty, pregnancy and menopause seem to be common times for major hair changes. It can definitely be frustrating, since all those time periods can already be stressful before you add trying to learn a new hair texture! But our bodies aren't static, they change. That's a good thing, and it is beautiful.

AmberRenee: Can we just acknowledge how beautiful her skin is

Deborah Shoates: That was a perfect hairstyle for her she look so beautiful .

Ashley Bennae: Your client is gorgeous. Congratus to her!!! That ponytail is slayed to the Gods! Are your haircare products going to be available soon? I really want to try your shampoo because my scalp is always so itchy. The only thing that helps is washing with ACV. I think I need to see a dermatologist.

SweLlch Style: Aww congratulations to her!!! You make this look so easy and effortless... which I know for a fact it is not love it

Jessie: That was a beautiful way to announce a pregnancy and her hair was perfect.

HumidGreen: I’ve been rocking baby hair since elementary or before. I’m 37 and baby hair is just a small detail that adds beauty and youth to your style. I’m a pro hair stylist and if my client wants baby hair that’s her business.

Babydoll NayNay♡: I Watch You Religiously, As A Stylist Myself You Help Me Grow And Learn So Much. I Appreciated Your Passion And Sincerity With All Your Clients

Kristin Aleja: This was so beautiful! Congrats to her

Patricia: Latina here with wavy hair and I've been binging your channel for a while now and tried today how to blow dry my hair like you teach with some distance from the heat instead of having it right on there and with a paddle brush and wow, just wow. Less pulling and struggling, I did felt like it was less heat on my head as I even at times sweat due to it and it was way faster. Thank you for teaching us so much!

Iris Perez: Omg! That ponytail was so beautiful! The announcement was gorgeous! The hairstyle was perfect for the moment you did good to her I always like your videos because you are so positive and all your messages are so good God bless you

HarmonicSounds: I don't have this type of hair, but I've binge watched 15 of your videos now. So relaxing, satisfying, and informative about hair. Love it!❤
