Low Ponytail With Extensions Tutorial

When it comes to your wedding day, it’s easy to overthink things. Sure, it’s one of the biggest days of your life (gulp), but that doesn’t mean you can’t take it easy on at least some of the details. When you already have enough to stress over, taking the less-is-more approach to your wedding-day hairstyle is the way to go. Enter: the ponytail.

Just hear us out. Ponytails get a bad rap for being basic, and while they may be our go-to on lazy days and trips to the gym, that doesn’t mean we can’t elevate the style. Trust us; it just requires a little strategy. Details like covering your elastic, adding length & fullness (thanks Thykk hair extensions) and finishing it off with two Cubic Zirconia bobby pins you have an elevated glam pony.

My friend guinevere is getting married and she wants to wear her hair into a simple low ponytail, because her hair is beautiful and long, but lacks a little bit of fullness. We'Re going to be adding hair extensions into this. Look when choosing your extensions. You want to make sure that you have a perfect color match these extensions by thick match perfectly to guinevere's hair. They are also nice and thick, hence the name at the bottom, so when we add them into her ponytail, the density is going to look nice and full at the top and just as full at the bottom to begin, i'm going to section gwynevere's, hair from the Top of the head down into center back. This is going to make it easier for me to create even sections to apply the extension into starting at the bottom. I'M using my smallest hair extension piece and clipping it in taking about one inch sections horizontally up the head. I'M going to continue this process as i get to around the ear you'll notice that my section size slightly curves towards the front of the head. What this does is it allows the hair extension to follow the natural curvature of the head, and when you have your hair extension following the natural curvature, it's going to be easier to blend and also go into a ponytail. You also want to make sure that, over the ear you have about one inch of coverage so that, when you're pulling the hair back, you won't see where the extensions are. Now that i've got all the extensions in i'm going to use my grooming brush to smooth the hair out, it's important to use a brush like this, because it won't lift the extension off of the head and just like that, you can see how much more fullness Has been added to gwyn's hair using a little bit of hairspray and my grooming brush i'm going to pull her hair into a ponytail at the nape of the neck. Here, i'm just using your classic ponytail elastic that you can find anywhere now. The real secret is to use my large, japanese u-pin and i'm going to cover my elastic band by sliding the u-pin underneath the elastic and leaving the top loop open. I can then loop the hair sliding it through once it's slid through. I can then grab the base of the u-pin and it will cover the elastic and hold the hair securely in place. You can also add a smidgen of hairspray for extra security using my edge brush and some edge cream. I'M going to gently push down any little hairs that are sticking up now. Really the star of the show are these very dainty cubic, zirconia bobby pins. They have two small cubic zirconias that sit right at the top of the pin, and i find that it adds just the right amount of sparkle and there you have it extensions on a low ponytail for my friend guinevere
