Elastic Hair Ties- Diy Tutorial-No Sew

CLICK HERE FOR LINKS ON WHERE TO BUY THE FOE (fold over elastic)

Buy your FOE here: http://bit.ly/FoldOverElasticMSQC

I like to stick to the ones that measure about 5/8" wide.

One yard of FOE will yield 4 hair ties using the measurements I provide in the video.

Apparently these hair ties are supposed to be creaseless too! Meaning that when you have your hair down and then pick it up for a while you can let it go again with minimal creasing where the hair was tied up.

This is a great and super easy project to do with your kids!

Thanks for watching!

Hey it's Vanessa, the crafty Gemini I post weekly, crafting cooking and organic gardening videos right here on my youtube channel in this video tutorial. I'M teaching you how to make boutique style, hair ties so by now you've probably seen these little hair ties and online shops little boutiques and beauty stores and things like that. They usually sell them in packs of like three and five and they're so expensive. It'S kind of ridiculous, so I wanted to whip up this really easy and quick tutorial to show you all how I make them theirs. Just fold over elastic I'll include some links in the description box below this video here on youtube. Just click on the tab that says about and then on the little section that says show more and the drop box will drop down with all the links on where you can buy some fold over elastic to create your own hair ties. It'S so easy! No sewing involved. What I like to do is buy my fold over elastic in bulk, because it's so inexpensive, but this project is so easy. We'Re just going to get right to it, because it's really super easy. So here I have a bunch of the hair ties that I've made. First thing you want to know is that I'm using the fo e, that's five eighths of an inch wide. Okay, I'll show you an example. If you use the one inch wide stuff which I like to use for headbands and for waist bands, you can see it's a little too thick and I feel like it doesn't stretch as much to go twice or three times around a ponytail. So I just made this one to show you guys an example, so stick to the five eighths of an inch - and this is how easy it is to make these okay take your fold over elastic, I like to measure out nine inches fold it in half and Wrap a knot around it, that's all you got to do is make a knot, pull real tight and that's it. There'S your hair tie, and so let me show you guys again in slow motion, so you can see how I made the knot. So that's it super easy to make. You saw how ridiculous this tutorial was. I hope you guys enjoyed it and that you go out there and save yourself some money by buying the fo e in bulk. Show you how I tie my hair up with it. I especially like these because they don't have any metal in them and for my hair, my kids, hair, that's dry and curly and coarse, like that. You know that metal snags, your hair and breaks it. So these are really soft and they hold up really nicely. I always love to hear from you guys so make sure you drop me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this super easy hair tie tutorial. I hope you guys enjoyed this video tutorial if you did make sure you hit it with the thumbs up below, share it across the different social media sites. Tell your friends and family about it. If you think they'd be interested and most of all, don't forget to click that subscribe button, so you won't miss out on any of my future video tutorials thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.

Debi's Design Diary: I Have broken hundreds of rubber bands because my hair is so sick this is such a great idea thanks Vanessa!

D. L.: You might say that this tutorial is ridiculous, but you've totally changed my knotting game :D I've been making these hair ties from elastic lingerie bias tape for ages and I've always struggled with the knots. Thanks a lot!

Jazz Driver: Perfect tutorial ...quick and to the point, just what I was looking for. Didn't know what to call these ponytail holders...one was included as a freebie with a sock purchase and it's become my absolute favorite hair tie. kingdomminded1121: Thank you so much for this video and others I've devoured today. I have thick curly hair and the bands always break because they are glued or have metal thank you so much!!

PHL76Music: Great video! I went to the fabric store and their 5/8" FOE color selection was lacking, but I found 1/4 inch elastic in a really pretty color that I'll use until I can find nicer 5/8". Probably the 5/8" would be better for my hair, anyway.

Lost2Lucid: This is awesome! I'm going to make mine bigger for my dreads..been looking for a better way to put them up!! Thank you!

Sarah: Thanks for sharing this. I had never heard of fold over elastic. I'll definitely look for it. I spend too much on hair elastics. My oldest daughter has very thick hair and sometimes her elastics break when she tries to do a piny tail. How long would you suggest I cut the FOE for her?

Bladestryke: I said you could make these yourself in my ifluenster review a few days ago ROFL! AWESOME! I think making a longer elastic and tying at both ends might give a cute bow effect too ;)

Sandra Jones: Too neat ! Thanks

Animira: Fast and easy!

Funny you post a tutorial the same week..it is so simple to make these..you can make shorter or longer depending on the thickness of their hair..never buying them again!

Kell Hornberger: Awesome, thanks! ~Kelley

Belinda Trimarchi: Hi Crafty, you may have mentioned it & I didn't notice or already forgot. Do these leave creases? Thanks for your video, I bet Michael's Frabrics has them!

susana !: Great tutorial just subscribed;)

java53079: It's called "fold over elastic". You can buy it at Hobby Lobby, fabric stores, ebay and etsy.

Nikita Bloem: Love it

Rachel Elliotte: One thing you may want to do is seal your ends with a heat sealer or a lighter.

Julie Richard: i've just purchased the FOE on ebay :) can;t wait!! i hate having to buy elastics every 2-3 months because they keep breaking and i keep losing them!! this way i will just make one as i need it. and i bought 10 diffrent colors, 1 yard each. ! for only $8.31 CAD Thanks alot !! :DDD!!!!

crosspecans: you're  very glamorized in this video.  so pretty.  i happen to have some of that elastic to use.  yippie!

Greggs: Just found for channel looking for DIY goody ouchless hair ties. I'm going to buy 5 metres of it right now. This will be great for stretching my hair. How would you determine the length for a headband?

tweetnes: What a great idea..We use tons of these.

Zwisel Gandia: Hello! Would you be able to tell me where you found the 1in elastic? :) Thanks!

Edilma Bernabe: I love it!

S: does anyone know how to prevent fraying of the elastic at the ends or does it not happen with fold over elastic??

Deana lovellette: How long would you cut the elastic for a headband?

Debi's Design Diary: Oops ... My hair is so thick, not 'sick' lol ...

Val Os: You are awesome! We sale those at my job for $1.50

E D: Thanks!  Any advice for adding embellishments, bead, etc?

Nikki Barone: To give you an idea of how economical this is, the brand Twistband sells a 6 pack (that's 6 hair ties) for $10.00. You can get 5 yards yards of FOE on etsy for $2-5 depending on the print, etc. And you are not losing any professional look by making them yourself. They are fool proof. I made and sold them on etsy and eBay for about 6 months. They sold well and are profitable if you buy the FOE in bulk!

Angela Maria: Thanks will be making these.

Christine Casey-Blake: Super, i'm going to make these

Kelandra Williams: Awesome mama!!! Thanks!!

Eileen Berg: Very cool!!!

Madam Sierra Golden: Bravo. Don’t burn the ends, the burnt ends will snag hair a cause unnecessary breakage

Licazy: I always wondered what that tie was made of, I see girls rave about that thing here on youtube. Wish that fold over elastic was available in my country, I have never seen it over here.

boabogo: awesome tutorial but they dont really work on my hair even though i bought some and made some they always fall out :(

kim3lise: Vanessa please do a tutorial how to make a pencil pouch made of zippers all over

lha44: I love this idea especially when u showed it in slow motion, lol ;-)

Affiliated Beauty: How many inches should I use for a headband?

TrueBookWorm: I've seen them at school and the second I saw them I thought "why is everyone carrying around elastic?" Well now I know :/ my hair is pretty odd so normal ponytail holders work fine on me so... Yeah ^^ thanks for the tutorial though!

4vrceltic: You hair is BEAUTIFUL !!

Devoria Hall: where can I buy the FOE?

Maria Goumas: All your videos are great!!! Maria
