Hi everyone, its Jennifer from fiber flux in this video, we're going to be making some faux fur scrunchies. These are so much fun and I've had a lot of you ask about all the different things you can do with fur yarn. So we have made a wreath. So far, we've made a cowl we've put some of this fur on the top of a pair of slipper socks and I'll put all those links down below as well. But today we're going to be just doing some simple stitches around a like a ponytail holder and creating some really fun texture, and this is a really fun little scrunchie. So for this project, you're going to need a ponytail, holder or hair tie different people, calm different things, but something elastic, and preferably in the yarn color that you've chosen. So for this one I used a hot pink one and I have white to go with the white faux fur when we're going to be making today. You'Ll also need a pair of scissors and a larger hook. I'M going to be using an 8 millimeter Elle crochet hook today, and also the faux fur yarn that I'm gon na be doing. Is my favorite faux fur yarn, it's very silky and fluffy, and it just makes a really fun scrunchie. This is red, hearts, fern and it obviously it's a faux fur yarn - and this I have this white here and then this hot pink is called the Azalea. You may recognize this from the heart wreath I need earlier in February, so this is a really simple project. I just need to find that at the end here now, if you've made some of these faux fur projects with me, you might have some yarn leftover, so you don't need a lot. I just have a little pile of it here, but you don't need a lot of this yarn at all. And if you have some yarn leftovers from the cowl that we made in February or the wreaths or even the slipper socks, you can use any yarn leftovers for this and even make a few per Bowl. So what you want to do is grab the elastic and you're going to just simply tie it on to your elastic with the lower tied the faux fur yarn onto the elastic. Ok, so just do a nice secure knot and is such a fluffy yarn that you want to make it nice and tight okay, and you might need to kind of pull some of the strands out of your knot as well. So it doesn't have like a see how it like it's folded in, so you don't have like a lumpy spot. Okay, so once you have your knot on there, what you're gon na do is we're gon na deal with this tail later, but you want to take your hook and you're going to insert the hook into the center of your elastic and then you're gon na bring Up a loop like that and then you're gon na wrap yarn around hook and work a chain one okay. Now this tail that I mentioned before we're gon na lay that along the edge of our elastic as we work, and that will weave that in as we go along it'll just eliminate a step. Okay. So then what you're gon na do is work single crochets. All the way around your elastic and you want to get them nice and condensed. So it's nice and fluffy. If you space them out too much you'll see a lot of the elastic showing and it won't have that fluffy. Look that we're after okay! So all you want to do while holding this tail along the edges to work is insert your hook into the center of the elastic, bring up a loop, wrap yarn around hook, bring it through both loops, and I realize it's fluffy. So a lot of times with this faux fur yarn, you have to kind of feel as you go, and that's just that's just how how it goes. But it's super easy insert the hook into the center, bring up a loop, wrap yarn around hook, bring it through both loops and we're just gon na. Do this all the way around and I'm still holding that tail along the edge as I work and, as you add, stitches to your elastic, take your hands and hold the elastic with one side and just like push the stitches together so that they create a denser Faux fur scrunchie, you don't want them to be too spaced out. Okay, so we're just gon na. Do this all the way around our hair accessory here and you can get in any store, really grocery stores, department stores. You can get a big pack of these hair elastics for not a lot and they come in all different colors, so you can really match them to your yarn and you can make these with other types of yarn too. But this faux fur is fun and I think that this this one almost has like a polar bear. Look to it! Ok! So now my tail has been woven sufficiently, so I can kind of let that go and then throughout working, your single crochets grab the hair, elastic and just kind of slide. Those stitches see how much I was able to slide that over and I have about a half of elastic to go. So just keep working your single crochets all the way around the circumference of this, and so you get a nice dense and fluffy faux fur. And this is a really fun accessory and for kids who are learning to crochet. This is a fun little project. They can make something to wear right away, and this dis only takes a few minutes to make. Sometimes after I work on a very large project like if I'm working on an Afghan or something really big, it's fun to kind of switch gears and work some of these smaller projects in between for that instant gratification, okay, so I'm almost to the end, and I've Been pushing this yarn along and I've used almost all of my scrap fur yarn that I had okay, so we're just almost there and you can really pack these stitches in if you want to okay. So what I'm gon na do now is again. You'Re gon na have to feel for this a little bit, but I still have the loop on my hook from my last single crochet. I worked and you want to feel around and look for a loop in there from where you began. So I can get my finger in there. I went and in there and then you're gon na insert your hook into that loop and then wrap the yarn around the hook once more bring it through that loop that you felt for and then bring it through. The loop that's already on your hook and then we're gon na fasten off so wrap yarn around hook and just pull it through, okay, and it might be a little bit tricky and we're gon na get this all straightened out in just a moment. Okay, so pull that knot, nice and tight get all those little strands they get they like to get tucked in there when you make your stitches, so it just looks like kind of a lump right now, but that's okay, we're gon na fluff it up and then Just snip that tail off and everything's fastened in and again it's a little bit tough to see cuz, it's so fluffy. But that's that's a good thing, because you want your scrunchie to be super fluffy. Okay, so that's it! That'S all you have to do to make a beautiful faux fur scrunchie thanks so much for watching and be sure and click the subscribe button to get all the latest fiber flux, video updates, thanks again,
