Hi, this is Krista at the secret urinary today. We'Re making these super awesome. 3-Minute hair ties if you're looking for a hair tie, that is super stretchy, super grippy holds your hair, doesn't slip down, looks great and you can make it home. These are the ones all you need to make them are regular elastics, a crochet hook, I'm using a 3.5 millimeter a pair of scissors. I like these curved ones, but obviously any pair of scissors work. You do not need a darning needle and some yarn. I am using this Camilla cotton magic, it's from ice yarns, it's a hundred percent mercerized, cotton, 100 grams and 260 meters. It'S a size, two thickness, but I've also made these hair ties with regular acrylic yarn like a four thickness and they turn out great. The good thing about this yarn is you get all these colors inside. So you get all these colors of hair bands. I went through one rotation, one color rotation and I got about 32 hair ties and you can see all the great colors in there. So I think from one ball of yarn, you'll at least get about 100 hair ties, so these are also really great to sell at craft fairs or give as gifts you can put them in sets of five or, however, you want to display them and sell them. Absolutely wonderful, and once you try them, you will not be able to use another hair band like even goodie. These are better than goodie like these are wonderful, so at least give one a try and try it out because you won't go back. So let's get started so take three elastics. These are three inches long. If you make them flat like that and measure three inches, take your yarn and make a slipknot. We need enough of a tail to tie so maybe about three inches and make a slipknot like. So shrink it down a bit and put it on your hook like that, take your elastics and I try to just get them so they're kind of in the same pattern I want. I don't want them like that. I kind of want them also they're behaving like a little stack, so line them up so wherever their oval-shaped, the oval part lines up and then give them a little pinch is to hold them up put your hook in and then I just hold them onto my Hook while I get ready, look at your yarn sort, it out - and I hold the tail - now - bring your yarn under to slip stitch. So I've let go of my elastics chain one just so everything's too contained and drop your tail. We don't need it, but it looks like this so far so get rid of your tail. I just kind of hold it the other way, and now you want to be holding your elastics, you don't want to stretch them, but you want them hold together in a bit. You don't want them loose, but you don't want them stretched and make single crochets in to the center of those elastics, and you want these stitches here to be touching so single crochet, so to make a single crochet go into the center around those elastics grab. Your yarn and bring it back, wrap your yarn and take off. So let us show you like so, and you want to do it. So all of these stitches are touching. You can slide them together a bit, but you want to be careful not to stretch your elastics. It can just kind of mess up. Your hair tie a bit so now keep going. You want to do about 50 single crochets. You don't have to totally count what you want to look for. Is you want your stitches to be laying down nice like those three? Are these ones are a bit spaced out? It'S not terrible, but you don't want them. The space is any bigger than that. So just go nice and slow nice easy tension, 50 single crochets into the ring I've gotten back around and you can see these stitches look great. That would be exactly how you want them to look. This is too spaced out over there. It doesn't matter, I'm just pointing you out pointing it out to you, but that is how mine looks and it's twisted on this side and right, where we're gon na join. I'M just going to do a couple more single crochets, just to make sure that that elastic is covered like that. So that is what it looks like now. I'M going to turn this up or twist it up a little bit because we want our stitches to all. Be on the outside of our elastics, and now I'm going to slip stitch to this very first stitch here. So it's just this, the closest one to you we're going to go straight into there and make a little slip stitch so poke! You can even use your finger to get that first strand on and the second strand poke him on like that slip. Stitch so bring your yarn through turn your hook and bring your yarn through chain 1 to secure your yarn and cut your yarn. You want to leave enough of a tail to make a knot, pull your hook up and your yarn out and snug these down. If you are using acrylic yarn or for a for weight, it'll be bigger. So then I would so in my tails, but this thin cotton it'll slip out if we work it under and we don't want it to slip out later so we're gon na be doing a knot. So just do a regular knot, just the once and give it a little a little snug down, not too crazy, but a little bit and one more time now this one we're really gon na pull. This is our crazy one, so really pull that tight and then once more for good measure and this one we also pull really tight like that. There we go and then we can just cut off these strands and if you use these curved scissors they're just really handy, because you can see exactly where you're cutting but any scissors, do it's a twelve days of Christmas giveaway. What are you gon na win? You are gon na win, one ball of yarn at the same type that I use to make. My hair ties the same kind of hook: 3.5 millimeter tulip. I used a clover, but this is a tulip and I'll also send you some rubber bands just to check how stretchy they are to compare them to rubber bands in your area. So you know exactly the ones that I used. So what do you have to do to win this amazing giveaway? So you have to do to enter is be a community member by hitting the subscribe button below and the notification Belva side that and answer the question in the comments box below the question is: are your favorite yarn colors your favorite colors for clothing? Is it the same colors like I really love blues and greens, and I buy you like hot pink and I never wear hot pink. So are your yarn colors the same as your clothing colors, or do you find you have two different palates one for your, like your, what you look like on your body and one for the yarn you buy or is it the same? You love your colors and that's it you'll crochet with it and wear it. So that's what I'd really like to know in the comments box below there is a giveaway tucked away in the twelve videos I'm putting up before Christmas 2019 and we'll be announcing the winners on December 24th. So you'll be one winner from every video you can enter on all of the videos, right-handed left-handed and all twelve of them. So I will increase your chances of winning and I really hope you win have a super great day and Merry Christmas and there's your hair tie. So the trick how you want it to be is, if you take your three regular elastics and you stretch them. There'S a point where you don't, you can't stretch them anymore like this is about as stretchy as they are anymore and it might snap and hurt me and you want to be able to stretch your hair tie the same amount and that's about the same. If you don't put in enough stitches, it won't stretch as much because the yarn will stop the elastic from stretching. So that's the only trick you want it to be stretchy and this yarn to be covering that elastic. So now you can just keep going making as many as you like. These are all the colors. I got from that nice ball of variegated yarn, there's a link in the description box below for this particular yarn. If you're selling them at craft fairs, you can just pinch them up and tie a little ribbon around five will five of the colors that you really like, and they would just be super great. You can also display them on a rolled up card like this. They look great on a tea mug stand. You can just have a whole bunch, they look fabulous so anyway. I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did please like share and subscribe to the channel and thanks so much for watching stay hooked.

Vickie: Love, Love, this project. I never thought about using regular elastic bands. Thank you for sharing this pattern. Great quick project to make these for gifts.

ljb1459: These are so cute! I can’t wait to make some. My favorite colors to wear are greens and blues and I do tend to make my accessories in those colors as well.

Stephanie R.: Hi I absolutely love these hair ties! The colors of yarn I'm drawn to and make clothing items out of I would wear no matter the color. Thanks for this great little giveaway! Happy holidays and good luck to everyone!

Cheryl Gilmore: Yes, my favourite colours for clothing is what I usually buy in yarn, although I do like a bit of flash when it comes to yarn. I wear pink, purple and blue and that's what I usually crochet with. Great video! I love the hair ties. I made some of these last month to sell.

Kristin H: Love these! Great stocking stuffer idea! And yes, I would say the yarn colors I'm drawn to are similar to the clothes I'm drawn to.

LiseCreates: Love this pattern for hair ties, I plan on making some this weekend! Thanks!! My color choices for clothes depends on what I find and how I like it but for yarn---I like all the colors, textures, whatever--as long as its yarn--its my favorite!

Denise Gustafson: These ties are perfect! I tend to use the same palette for crocheting & regular clothes. I love purples, pinks, blues, greens. I also like shimmery, sparkly in yarn and fabric!

missweenieboys 2: I finally made one of these over a year later. It turned out good. I used a piece of scrap yarn.

Short GIraffe: What a wonderful idea. I'll be making these for sure! I have 3 granddaughters that love everything girly so they'll really love these. Thank you for this tutorial! I really love blues but the girls are into pinks and purples. My favorite color is royal blue. Hubby bought me some royal blue so I may just spoil myself.

Kerryn Wright: Great hair ties Christa! Somehow I hadn't got around to watching this one, so I'm thankful you mentioned it in the live chat last night about gifts. I have some nice bamboo/cotton that I could use to crochet some of these. One of my best friends often has her hair up, so she'd love some of these I'm sure. Great question..... I mostly tend to buy yarn that's either in pastel shade, which I don't wear..... or really bright rainbow colours.... also that I don't tend to wear!! I mostly wear grey, blue, red, green & purple.

Marina Márquez: I love such a variety of yarn colors, both what I wear and other colors. Thanks for the scrunchy video & giveaway!

Ann Than: Wow! I love them! What a great idea! My favorite colors are blue and green so I always buy clothes and yarns in the same shades. I tried to venture outside of my comfort zone sometimes so I do have a pink or yellow shirt somewhere.

Kim Wiggers de Otte Kim Otte Art: My favorite yarn and clothing colors are in the same palette: purples, blues, and greens. I can't wait to make some of these hair bands! Headed to the store for rubber bands!

Adele Romero: First of all thank you for sharing. I love these hair ties. I love that the ice yarn is cotton. I also like that you put 3 rubber bands together. I figured that if one happened to bust, it wouldn't be a total loss. I've had that happen before. Idk know why I didn't think of that before. lol Thank you for this giveaway, love your channel, keep them coming. Good luck to all that enter. Merry Xmas!

Christine Tracey: Beautiful yarn Love dark shades with a hint of contrast in both what I wear and buy in yarn Great stocking filler

Sherry Hebebrand: Thank you so much for this video I am now making these for my older nieces for Christmas, they will love them ❤❤❤. I love red clothing, but my favorite yarn colors are pink and gray

Kristy Paynter: Yes, my yarn colors are the same as my clothing colors. I stick with my favorites: greens, lots of blues, and purples. I am so glad I have a use for the rubber bands that my kids like to bring home. Thank you!

Caty Huertas: Another simply good idea Christa! That combination of colours looks beautiful. I like the purples and when a buy yarn I have to remember me there are more colours !

Erin Morrison: I’ve made these in the past super easy. Love that color way. These are my favorite colors. Pastels.

Susan Kraft: These look so much faster and easier than the ponytail holders I've made in the past using Goodie hair ties. I'll have to try these out! As far as colors go, my favorite color is red and my favorite color combo is red and white. While I crochet in those colors often, I use any color that is appropriate for the project or that strikes my fancy at the time. Merry Christmas all! Blessings!!!!!

Gotta tell ya, Christa, I’m in Ontario an you are absolutely living my dream. My friend was out there for work and he brought me a bottle of earth from Kenya. I’m so glad I found you. God Bless

Arabella Zito: My favorite yarn colors depend on what I'm making. If I'm making something for myself, then they're the same as my favorite clothing colors, but I find that there's often more of a selection of beautiful shades in yarn than you find in store bought clothing, which makes experimenting with other colors kind of fun!

Carole Lightfoot: I have 2 different pallets . One for yarn and one for clothing but never realized it until today so Thank you so much. I enjoyed the new pattern and the lesson from you. Enjoy your day

Jackie A: I suppose my favorite color is blue...but I just love the many, many colors that we have available to make so many yarny things with!!! I not only crochet, but I loom knit and also knit with needles a little bit...so I always have something going on everything!

Nida Kr: My yarn colors and colors for the clothes is similar.. I love light shades.. It is a wonderful tutorial, Christa.. Thank you..

Donna Arnold: I love that yarn colour, it's beautiful!! I buy bright colour yarns to make blankets and other items. But when I buy yarn to make a jumper or cardigan, I love to use light grey, it's my favourite safe colour to wear. Using rubber bands isn't something I would have thought of to make a hair-ties with. They look like they'll be soft and stretchy. I think these would make cute bracelets too. I once did the same thing with my iPhone cable to protect it, it looked so cool.

Friendly Crochet Creations: Love the hair ties. I will definitely have to make some. I have been eyeballing such hair ties for awhile. Yes, I buy the colors I love and do wear them, too, unless I am not making it into a wearable object. Thanks!

Ellen Pearce: I love jewel tones in purple and blue in yarn and clothing. Cute idea! Making another pair of fingerless gloves. It's cold here and I wear them inside. Hope you have a yarny day!

Karen Hickey: Love love love these!!! I am definitely going to make some of these!! Hmmmm I think I do buy the same colors I wear....I’m always drawn to brighter colors.

Amanda Walker: I am new to crocheting. I have been buying all colors in my local store. I love color. These hair ties are super cute. I go through alot of these and I am continuously having to buy new ones so this will be so worth the time and effort for me to do..

lakeladie: Yes, most of the colors I crochet with are colors that I wear. Unless I am making items for charity, then they are more neutral. Thanks again Christa for the giveaways and reminding me that I need to make some hair ties for my granddaughter. Staying hooked for Christmas and looking forward to hook’in the New Year away!

Diane Crumbley: I just made one of these. I like the rubber bands much better after trying it rather than the other packaged hair ties. It holds my fine hair better and doesn’t seem to pull as much. Thanks for the tip! Hope your Christmas was merry and your New Year was bright.

Evie Smith: My favorite yarn and clothing colors are pretty much the same, pastels and bright colors, but I stay away from shades of orange for my clothes. Love this yarn, will try making the hair ties for my granddaughters.

I'm making a pale purple top right now. I really love this idea with the hair ties. I can't wait to make them!!

Jo-anne: Love that yarn colour and good idea for the hair ties. I crochet with some colours I love and wear but some colours I wouldn't wear like hot pink but would crochet so a bit of both with me

Annette Bolitho: Awesome, I love this idea. Yes mostly the same and occasionally rainbow colours.

anissa dailey: I think mine are a little of both! I seem to look good in alot of colors. I love all colors. Thank you for the give away. I love this video. ❤

Julie Graff: Can't wait to try these for my daughters. I would love to win that starter kit!! My colors depend on project, not always my favorites.

Laura Finn: I just loooove blue so I buy every different shade. These hair ties are great! My teen daughter will love them.

Patricia Schroder: Love crochet with lots of color. My clothing is not bright, rather neutral. These look like a lot of fun to make, will need some for my long hair as I wear a ponytail daily!

Allison Turner: I love purples and teal. Mostly jewel tones. I make things for myself in those colors but always try to keep in mind other peoples favorites when making for them.

Elvira Guerrero: I like purple color and grey are the same for yarn and clothes. My daughters love scrunches, I will make a lot for them thanks for the tutorial!

But that doesn't stop me from buying other pretty colours in fabulous yarns, those make a nice crochet project for friends and family! Thank you for this easy hair ties tutorial, I'm always in need, can't have enough (I suspect my cat has a stash hidden somewhere...)

Karen Crosby: My clothes colors are mostly vibrant colors and I tend to use the same colors in crocheting. Love the video. I will certainly be making these as I have 5 Great Granddaughters.

Ros Jones: I love those hair ties!! I don't crochet items to wear and I have only really made toys and they are in colours I would not wear. My wardrobe is a mixed bag of colours but I always make sure I can wear most things with either black or denim jeans.

Gyneth Nicademus: Great colors! Fast Christmas gifts for young girls.. thank you for the idea. On my way to make them now....

Lori's Crochet Creations: Hello, I have made some of these, but I had only used one rubber band. I love the idea of putting three rubber bands. They are easy to make and wonderful to use. Thank you for the tutorial. I will upgrade my scrunchies. I was asking myself the same question, "Why do I buy these colorful yarns when I know that I will never wear those colors. I guess that's why I make toys, blankets, bags, kids apparel so that I can crochet with those yarns."

ohio67: Yes my favorite colors would be my clothing colors also. If I like the colors I would wear them no matter what color it is ;) I love these hair ties! I will definitely try to make them!

Norma Simpkins: Nice idea Crystal. I love color. My clothing and yarn palette are about the same. I have a tendency to lean towards greens and blues of various shades

Ramona McClanahan: I wear pretty basic color schemes, but I find my yarn color choices are much more varied. I absolutely love variegated yarns in a myriad of colors.

Katrina Drummond: I like all colors! I have never made anything to wear other than a scarf or some fingerless gloves! What I usually make are things to give away, so I try to pick what the other person likes! Thank you for this amazing give away!

Mellody M: I have made these using plain hair bands. Never thought about just using a rubber band. Love the colorful yarn. I'm learning to love the more colorful yarns...Thanks to YOU … but for clothing, I basically wear black and darker colors. :)

Comfort Creek Ranch: My yarn colors are the SAME as my clothing colors! I love Navy, black, All Blues, All Pinks, Most Greens! Great question, I don't think I ever noticed this before! Lol. Love the hair ties, I'm gonna have to make them, and the colors you used btw, are MY COLORS!!! : )

Catherine Oughton: I tend to buy the same colours for yarn and clothing xxx love this video ! Xx

Happy Crafty Homemaker: I love these! I used to do these with embroidery floss as a kid on the Goody's elastics. They were always so much fun to have on hand and I am bad at putting them on my wrist, so these are much cuter... Maybe it is time for adult Carrie to have cute hair ties! My clothes are mostly black, white and gray. My yarn colors are pinks, blues and purple.

Celeste English: Yes,as a matter of fact I like greens oranges, browns, and blues. These colors are perfect. Good luck to everyone, including myself.
