Hi guys welcome back to my channel today we are going to be talking about 2022 hair trends. This is my first time shooting in this studio, my first time since having the baby actually so anyway, i'm super super excited to sit down and film for you guys - and this is, i believe, our third annual hair trends of the year video and before we get Into the trends i wanted to thank today's sponsor thrive market i've used thrive market for years for both groceries, amazing pantry items and even supplements. I love their incredible prices, their sustainability and, most of all, i love their website. They just make the shopping experience so easy. When i put together my grocery list, i like to think of the aisles at the grocery store to kind of make sure that i get everything that i need so on the website. You are able to shop by aisles by specific products. Another feature they have. That'S incredible: is they have super yummy recipes that you can look up, whether it be brunch or dinner, and then you click on those recipes and a list of the ingredients that you need are right there and you can just click and add to cart. I love that they have a great inventory and great options and i don't have to leave my house for it so this week i really wanted to make my really yummy breakfast bars. As you guys know, i am on a wellness and a health journey, and i was at a coconut oil maple syrup and i was able to get these and many more ingredients at my door within just a couple of days. They also have auto-ship, which is great. I used to always run out of olive oil now, with this option just get it delivered in a timely manner that i have decided and never again running out of olive oil. Also, the one for one membership matching program sponsors a free one for a low-income family. Thank you again to thrive market for sponsoring today's video be sure to click the link below or go to thrivemarket.com backslash l bangs to join thrive market today and get 40 off your first order and a free gift. So, let's get into it so trend number one is wispy bangs and i feel, like i've been seeing this across the board on social media, on models, um and even different countries, and basically wispy bangs shorter kind of side swept it's a big, a 70s trend, and I feel like it's here to stay for a bit. The other thing this one isn't too new this year, but i think it's still really going strong and that is a very clean bob, clean bob meaning there are no layers or kind of bangs to go with that bob. It'S just a clean, crisp bop. I feel like this cut is classic and will always always look good, but a little bit different from the wispy bangs and that's what i love kind of about trends that have been happening more kind of in the last couple of years. There'S kind of a trend that kind of suits everybody, whereas um at times, there's been like such a strong trend that, even if it doesn't like look good on some people, it is like still the main trend and everything else looks kind of old. Whereas now i feel like there are definitely plenty of trends, it's really about celebrating kind of what you have. So i love that there is something a little bit more playful like the wispy bangs than something really clean and polished like a sleek bob, all right. The next haircut is the shag. The 70s very wispy very face framing very lived in again, a very big 70s trend, and i did say this. Last year we started seeing it with a color, and i feel like now we're really seeing it go full throttle with cuts as well. This cut is really playful, it's really fun. Of course it's trendy right now. I personally feel like if this is a style you're into it kind of looks good on everyone, because it's kind of not following the rules and it's just fun kind of crazy. So this is one of those trends. If you like the look, and if this suits kind of you and your personality, then it's going to look awesome on you and now going into color, as i mentioned a bit last year, but basically very sandy mushroomy tones are what's in. I believe, a few months ago, gen z came out and said that blonde is now choogy, which means it's not in. It means a few other things, but mainly that it is not in so what this means is, if you are blonde, it doesn't mean, go become a brunette this year, um. What that means is tone it down a little bit. I feel like what is not going to be in for the year. Is that, like that super super bright, overly lightened hair is what's not in it's more of a subdued, more natural, more muted kind of blonde. I slowly started going darker last year. I definitely thought that maybe after baby, i would want to go light again and i have zero inclination to do that. I do feel like this is a lot like softer against my skin um and i'm just loving the low maidens five that we've got going on right now. So basically, these tones um that are referred to as like sandy more champagne, blondes um, mushroomy kind of browns, um they're, just essentially a very good balance of both warm and cool. But it's not just like a flat neutral. It'S really has like kind of the intensity of both of those to create something really really balanced and i've always said the 70s are my absolute favorite era and i hate when someone associates the 70s with like disco and like a cheesy costume to me, the 70s Is long gorgeous sandy hair and wearing super earthy tones when it comes to clothing all right, the next trend is the 90s blow up again, we started saying this last year, but what is translating more into is the haircut to support this beautiful blowout, and that is To have kind of wispy face framing layers, so that means it's not just having one long length unless you have a sleek bob beveling the ends so that the ends have a little bit more movement, as opposed to like a very sleek kind of straight ends. The other thing too, when you are curling your hair, that, like really straight end, look, was also very in for a very long time. Now, it's all about having a little bit more softness at the end. So, even though it's not a tight round, bouncy curl at the end, it's all about having a little bit more movement on all of your ends. So those were the five major trends for hair this year and now the two things you want to stay away from are what i just mentioned: very smooth sleek ends to any hair that has either some volume some body or some waves into it again. The bob is the exception. You want that to be sleek, but if the hair is longer, you want to avoid having super straight kind of pointy ends, and then the last thing you want to avoid is overly heavy hair. That is long. So if you think about the early 2000s, it was all about these like wispy ends. It was all about having volume at the top and then these wispy wispy ends, and then extensions came in to correct that i feel, like extensions, are so readily available to everyone. Now and it's no longer about wow, how do you get that fullness in your hair? It'S just everyone has access to extensions that i feel, like we've all kind of gone overboard, and basically, when you see like zero volume up here and just like overly thick heavy heavy hair kind of like from the chin length and lower, i think that look is So dead and i think first of all it was never really pretty, but i feel like when extensions were starting. It was like whoa. How did you get that much volume but again, like i said now that it becomes anything that becomes more readily available, becomes less interesting and less cool. So i'm in no way saying that extensions are out. Extensions are absolutely here to stay, and i love that we have better options to suit kind of different hair issues and to deliver hair results that you've, you know, always dreamt of and like having. So if you have extensions put in for length, you want it to match kind of the density and thickness of your hair. You don't just have this overly thick bulkiness at the bottom, when it's not supported at the top, and i promise you you're going to look so much more on trend all right guys. That is it. Those are my five trends for the year and two trends to stay away from. lolasaysyes: Agreed that when extensions are too full at the bottom and don’t match the density of your natural hair, it can look unbalanced and cheugy, but I disagree that thick, dense ends are “over”! It’s a classic and enduring look if you have healthy natural hair, similar to your comment on the sleek bob. It’s all about the balance and proportions.

shelbacus: I wonder if the change in blonde tone trends evolved with the pandemic. It was harder in the last two years to keep up with a full-foil bright blonde. A more muted, lived in blonde makes more sense for low maintenance hair.

Katherine McLeese / Buganski: I was reading about blonde being out - it’s happened before post disaster/war. Beauty trends tone down to match the tone of the country. “Recession roots” have inspired going for a slightly darker, more maintainable color like people needed during the pandemic because they couldn’t get their usual services. Personally I hopped on the copper shag trend last year! Love it so much, it woke up my hair and added so much wave back into it. I just got a blonde face frame on the copper and I’m loooooving it!

Marissa Grilli: I don’t mind talking trends with cuts and color, especially being in the beauty industry, but for a generation to call shots on what’s out? Love your blonde?, then LOVE it and keep loving it. It corners a whole population into a “not cool”, or whatever word they created, category. Sylvia, we’ll done as always on maintaining the balance of trend and you-do-you advice.

Teresa Angelena: Personally, Hate the “ shag.”

Janet's Planet: You look gorgeous and healthy Sylvia!!! The benefit of being a “mature lady” like myself is you get to a certain age and you stop caring about what’s in or out. Ha! Sooooooo I think I’ll be keeping my bright blonde hair. If I didn’t have grays I might consider darkening up but I do so looks like I’ll be out of style for 2022. ‍♀️

Eva Eilea: Why would people need to “tone-down” their hair because a bunch of teenagers decided it’s apparently “cheugey” (it’s a cringey word fo start with) in the name of what trends? Fashion? It’s crazy to see how things go in and out of style lately, when will people understand it’s purely to pressure us to consume more and more and feel out of touch with the rest if we don’t follow those so called trends?? If you like your hair whatever color or texture, you should never feel the need to tone it down to accommodate anything or anyone.

Bella Molina: Hi!! I agree with the blonde going out. I was blonde for too long and got over it. I got tired of the overly processed look. So I decided to change my hair for the new year and now I'm brunette with some highlights added. I love it. Looks more natural and is low maintenance. Thanks for your content

PopularParis: I’m not taking any advice from a Generation that ate tide pods. Blonde is not chuegy.

Patricia Betancourt: I've seen a lot of Copper Red tones lately...I was so obsessed with going a lighter blonde lately..but randomly decided to do light copper Red yesterday. .I used Ion w 20 developer.. It came out pretty good...

Jasmine Peach: I’m going lighter blonde than I already am!

Mary Buller: I'm going to be off trend I guess! Lol My natural hair is almost solidly white from above my ears to my temples (think Elvira, princess of the dark, or bride of Frankenstein) . I am heavily highlighted to blend my white and dark hair and the graying top of my head. Getting color to stay on my white pieces is tough. It rarely matches the rest of my hair. If by chance the colored white hair matches the rest - it appears very dark, obvious, and overdone and fades faster than my brunette does and will look purple or red as it fades. Also, the white root regrowth sparkles like glitter on my scalp within 2 weeks. It's a ton of maintenance for me to go back to dark. I'll be keeping my blonde and just be out of style, I guess! Lol. My hairdresser has been adding more low lights, so maybe I can continue that or ask her to increase them. She does such an excellent job with blending my white sideburns into the highlights that most people are shocked to find out I'm not a natural blonde. She's a keeper!

Wycklow Gardens: People who follow trends always look back at pictures of themselves from a decade or two ago and cringe. Just do what works with your genetics- that never goes out of style.

Herbalina: I really like the dimension of your current color and it suits you. When it comes to hairstyling trends, I've learned to accept that most trends won't work with my hair since it has natural curl. My mother had the opposite problem: straight hair that wouldn't hold curl. She'd pay to get salon perms while I'd straighten my hair with a round brush and hairdryer every day before school. She used to say that she wished she had my hair and I wished she did too!

ANDREAA💋: Girl yes I agree! Ima 80s baby but my soul tells me 70s lol I always tell my mother im a hippie ‍♀️ I think the 70s look is so clean, natural just earthy vibes! Anyhow love ur hair

Cynthia Spitzer: I’ve been watching Aly Art’s videos regarding hair for the body types ( styles and color), and it is eye opening. Makes a lot of sense. I liked this, too, Sylvia. Wish I could get my hair done by you, but alas, I am too far away.

Sabine Kreuz: thank you Sylvia for this vid. I really appriciated this, because now that I always followed your hair videos I became sandy blonde too and was really wondering if it still a trend. As I become older of course, I still want to make sure I don´t stick to out of date hair trends. Thank you so much also for having introduced me to Unite hair products which finally helped me to combat my frizzy hair. It worked like a miracle for me. #All the best to you my dear.

Elsa Ersaia: After a hairdresser burnt off my 1 meter long full, healthy, platinum hair, I cut it all off and went dark blonde/brunette. Honestly, blonde isn’t worth it. Love the more natural look and your hair color!

Kirsty Macfarlane: Thanks Silviya, I I love mushroom and champagne tones. I went for a pink toner this time and because my hair dresser mixes different colours, I've got lovely pink champagne and mushroom tones through my hair, I got some lowlights the last time. Absolutely love it I've got a champagne toner at home so when this washes out, I'll put that through my hair. Thanks again lovely lady

Just because: You look amazing. I can’t even believe you are new mom. When I had my first, I looked wrecked for months- with makeup.

Jerica Herrera: I love the shaggy cut. I haven’t tried it yet. Anywho, I’ll do as I please with my hair, clothes, etc. I couldn’t care in the slightest what the current trends are. Lol

Kathy: Only we who actually lived and came of age in the 70’s truly know what it was all about and no one else would ever be able to duplicate or understand that time

Mouna Rhrich: so basically my hair goal is not in this year.

Karlie J: Me being blonde with extensions this has always been my dream hair

Brandy Colwell: I feel like these are never inclusive to those of us with naturally curly hair. There’s a whole community of people that you’re not reaching.

Claudia Blair: Have any suggestions for the best natural, curly extensions? Loved this video!

Andrea Mcmahon: This colour is superb on you! Pls show us how you achieve it x

Loves Dogs: I love the darker hair on you, lots more versatile. It willbe fun in the future when you have your back to blonde day. I really dislike the too full end look too, its just overly done.

MyHairCare: Really enjoyed listening to this video. Love your beautiful hair!

Just An Ordinary Girl: I noticed that sandy blonde tones too. Great video Silvia

spyduhgirl: I buzzed all my hair but I still watched this whole video

Simple Nail Designs: Love the clean bob, so cute

M A: Love your videos-so awesome! Are you still doing virtual consultations? I sent an email yesterday, with pictures, requesting one. I’m in a color emergency because my colorist closed shop, abruptly, and I need help .

Maria Mercedes: Thank you for the info. I have not yet mastered the way your hair is now . Those two swoops , its my favorite hairstyle that i just cant get.I honestly think you did a tutorial but can you do one on today's hair look. Thank you .

Kimberly Evers: Once again, left out because I don't have long, luxurious locks. Short haired people are so insignificant in most of the videos I watch. I'm 58, but I'm not dead

Kimberley Frazier: Just curious. Why do we care what the trends are? Just be yourself and stop looking like everyone else!

Think for yourself John 3:16: Sylvia I love your hair darker it looks beautiful on you. Thank you for this video dear .

Scorpio ♏️: Love your hair color and style love to try, I would like to get it done same could you make a video on that ! Thanks

Ali Rome: I'm a platinum blonde and I don't think I'll be over it it's not fried or dry I keep it healthy. Mushroom brown or darker blonde I'm sorry..noo.. too dull for me. Personally either platinum blonde hair or deep dark rich brown is the best on me so trends don't go with everyone

Dancing Bears: I’m staying bright blonde lol

Canon: Glad the wave with straight ends is over. Never liked that look. Sadly, I never could do extensions because my hair is very silky and fine and extensions use Asian hair which is too different a texture to blend in with mine. Never looked good. I like a good shag or bob though.

Z . Azúcar: Can you pls make an outfits vid? Love you’re style

Rosie Vriesinga: I love whispy bangs or curtain bangs. But I hate shag. It makes me look not feminine enough. I do like it on others though! I also don’t follow trends really. Because I already liked bangs blunt with long edges, like whispy or curtain before it was trendy. I also don’t like it when people call certain colours cheugy because it is not trendy for them. I mean I like Adele her gorgeous blond hair just as much as mushroom colours or copper or black. It should suit your face and whole being not a timeline.

vesnaxm: Have you started to sell Monat again? I just started with them, how do you feel about their products now, since I remember you mentioned that you won’t sell them anymore! ☺️

bcp0x P: I don't listen to Gen Zers. To them, "blonde" may be "out of style", that's ok. I'm not a gen-Zer. I'm a millenial. lmao

Michelle Rodriguez: Who makes these trends??? Do whatever you want with your hair that’s what I say!!!

allkindsamusicchick: Does anyone know why Silvia named her channel ellebangs? Curious me.

TLP: Extensions are very very expensive....not only each individual piece but the labor that goes into coloring them where you have to blend multiple pieces. European extensions are the norm bc their hair is not filled with pesticides and they are healthier in general versus American extensions. Trends come and go....when everyone has the same hair aka 90's chunky highlights....there is not an individual look. As a seasoned stylist, all clients want what everyone else has. BUT it is our job to consult them BEFORE any service as to whether or not what they want versus what they have. It is up to us to guide them in giving ALL suggestions and then come to common ground. I always say...stay away from trends, you do you and I will help achieve a look that no one else has via cut/color. It's always a win win.

Lottie Kenney: Can I dye a black wig with # 2 cool soft brown? Also, can I use # 5 Auburn with the # 2.

Nemellotus: I am going to try Thrive Market!

Megan Cantrell: What about Copper!? I feel like that’s a big on or no?

Butter-FlyGirl : Your hair looks great! You are wearing ‘mommy’ so well. How is your baby girl?

Trent H: Thank God you said it. Pin straight ends are out! Looks like half cooked ramen. I have always hated that look - it's just not pretty to me.

CMR: Congratulations!

Kristina “Christy” Marquez: No matter the trends, I love my hair black! Blondie's basic to me. I'm actually a dirty blonde, and I could go outside and it will get really blonde. I don't like it!, I think it's boring. You look good with blond. I think it looks boring on me. I like the really black hair or bright red. Even purple color. I'm sure you know other girls are like me,they don't like medium hair colors. I do like strawberry blonde. It's weird, I can have black hair that has no warmth in it ,but yet I look good with strawberry blonde. They're totally opposite colors, so you would think I wouldn't look good in both. I have a whole lot of green in my eyes. They're Hazel, but the brown tint is only in the middle ,the rest is green. My skin is a medium color with yellow in it. I think blonde hair looks good on other people just not me.

Thrive Market:

Sri Vidya: sorry did i miss something? you've a lisp and what happened to your face, hope you are okay

Eva S: Thrive market is thriving!!

TamCol: I will be celebrating when the curtain bangs go out of style. Wow. those are so unattractive.

Butter-FlyGirl : 1st. Yay.
