Now i don't know about you, but my favorite number is 22.. Does that make me biased about this year? I don't know, but there is something in the air and before we go any further, i want to evaluate the last year and also welcome you to today's video. If you are new, i am humane girl mel. I am a hairstylist, a curly specialist hair nerd and trend predictor and early last year in 2021. I went through all of my trend predictions for the year and we're going to go through them and see how accurate they were, while also setting our predictions for 2022, which is spoiler alert going to be another year of healthy hair care and lots of style. Lots of personality we are not playing it safe with our hair anymore, more on that coming up next, but first, let's look back. 2021 was a year of continued curly hair because all the way back in 2020, when everything shut down and everyone was at home. No one was really straightening or styling their hair too much and as they left it to breathe, got it a little bit healthy. They noticed they had curly hair, so the last couple years have been spent really embracing our curls. The community has grown tremendously because, thanks to you and so many other people that have started embracing their hair, there is more accessibility and even more inclusivity, which we have seen manifest itself through almost every single brand, coming up with hair care for our hair hair. That is, text shared and our hair routines have reflected more basic styling, with a focus on health and scalp care, which were two of my predictions from last year, and these two did come true, because there's no doubt that scalp care was a huge focus last year, Did you find that to be true? Let me know if that is you because, first of all correct me if i'm wrong, but in 2020, while we were all at home, we also kind of became lazy with our hair care, most people weren't washing their hair. As often and that created some problems for our scalp, not for me, but you stay safe, though, because i know that unless you were in a zoom call, there was no chance that you were washing your hair. Even though scalp care is the fundamental, the foundation of healthy hair, now one of the best tools i introduced to my scalp care routine is this bad boy? This is the tangle, teaser, scalp, exfoliator and massager hair brush, and it's just one of the many tools that i love to use from tangle teezer, to take care of my hair as a proud ambassador and partner of tangle teaser who's sponsored part of this video. Thank you so much to my tangle, teaser team, constantly reinforcing the need for exfoliating. This very special, also very comfortable brush, is one of those things that is not just a nice to have in your hair routine, but almost a need to have, especially if you don't want to go out, buying all kinds of different hair care products, because this can Take any shampoo that you choose to use and make that part of your routine exfoliating, unlike other shampoo brushes. This has two different types of teeth: the long, flexible teeth that you see are the ones for exfoliating. They help to lift off dead skin cells, while your hair is either wet with your shampoo or if your hair is dry. If i wanted to use for a scalp massage, which the shorter teeth help to target, they really hit those pressure points. All i'm saying is: while we have been working on our skin care, let's use the tools available to us to also take care of our scalp care, because this will grow healthy, hair. Speaking of while our hairs have gotten healthier, we're also not needing to use a million different products. Am i right. I know i used to layer on several several different products in my routine, mostly because i'm extra, sometimes because i i just want to but 2021 was the end of more because less is more so instead of layering, three different types of creams, all kinds of different Gels and even using different types of styling brushes in my routine. I really shrunken things down to the basics, which we said we were basically going to do, because all we really need is a shampoo conditioner, some kind of leave-in cream, if need be, a styling fixative like gel or mousse. Finally, an oil or serum to also use, but all while distributing them very gently. I almost exclusively used the ultimate detangler from tangle teaser last year to not just detangle my hair, but also as my styling brush, which a lot of you noticed. You asked me why i'm not using other brushes that i used to use in the past and to be completely honest, i have just really narrowed down my routine to the basics. When you are wet styling with a brush like i always do you always want to be gentle with the hair, and so if your brush is not flexing like this, it's not going to be it sis the ultimate detangler was made for use on wet hair. It has 325 patented teeth that you can see are staggered. This is tangle, teaser's, patented two-tier teeth technology, so that these long teeth can just flex and glide over tangles and not pull and rip on your hair, making it ideal for detangling distributing your hair products. It even feels really nice brushing from scalp to the ends and it's comfortable to hold as well. If you want to check into therapy and check out the tangle teezer brushes, i will have a link for these two in the description box below so go check it out there and let's continue to talk about our hair. Actually, i take that back because, more importantly than hair, we also need to talk about the impact that our beauty routines have on not society, but our ecosystems. Sustainability was the other thing that i was really hoping to see more of in 2021, and we did we've seen a few brands like eva nyc, completely convert to aluminum packaging, which makes it 100 recyclable and we've seen a lot of new lines like jvn hair. Come in packaged in aluminum, aluminum, aluminum or aluminum, it depends on where you're from. Let me know if your aluminum aluminum illumina wait a minute. It'S a tongue twister. Are you one aluminum or two aluminium, aluminium aluminum? The best thing we can do like i mentioned before, is not over consume. This is the end of more our basic routines, going back to the fundamentals and even trying, if we're going to try a new product. First of all, working through all of the old things that we already have trying our best to make something work before throwing it away unnecessarily. Speaking from experience, there is always going to be someone that wants your hand-me-downs, but, as i was saying, we don't want to overuse so many different beauty products that we don't need to use, and personally this year i want to try to use even more products that Don'T have any packaging. Last year i dip my toes into the world of shampoo bars. Conditioner bars. I have been testing solid, shampoo and conditioner bars, and this is how it's going. There'S even styling bars out there. If you want to know which ones i recommend just ask me below, but i do want to try a lot more this year, because sustainability isn't just a trend. We need this to be a lifestyle. So 2021 was okay, but i want to see more of this into 2022 and speaking of you, 2022, let's talk about what else i think we're going to see. First, things: first fragrance free, we've already gotten a sneak peek of some lines that are coming out that are completely fragrance free, hence curl smith's shine line, which i think is great because there's a lot of people that can't stand fragrance. I personally really love the option of having fragrance, for example, the way which is jen atkins brand. She has products that have the fragrance free options, so it's the exact same product. You can get it with fragrance or without and i'd love to know. If you're one of those people, i have an old video on a whole fragrance free routine, but i think very soon we'll be able to do an updated video of new products on the market that are also fragrance free, because this is definitely something that we've been Seeing which i personally think is really great, and i hope that we can get more and more of these options out there. Next we want strong hair and we are getting strong air, let's be real. Ever since olaplex broke, the internet broke the hair world in 2014. Everyone has been trying to create some bond building products. We saw a ton of new ones come out just last year and i don't think that's the end, but i do think that we're going to steer in a new direction when it comes to strength lines because bond building is out. There is a whole new wave of products that i think we can see with peps in their steps. I'M talking about hair peptides because k18, which is a whole new type of hair technology with their own patented ingredients, are giving olaplex a run for their money, and i really mean money honey because the products are not cheap. But the difference is something that we can see these peptides. The reason why they are so fantastic for the hair is because they are smaller than protein molecules and can really get into the hair to repair. And while these treatments are becoming more popular, 100 think that we're gon na be seeing more options out there more affordable options as well, hopefully, but also the opportunity to take more risks with our hair. This is the year where we have more fun with styling and just a couple months ago i did make a video about the most popular 2021 hair trends, what they are and how to ask your stylist for them. So you can check out that video, but just to recap, because those trends are definitely flooding into this year - bob haircuts, copper, red hair bangs. All of these really fun things that some people could not have imagined themselves doing are wanting to do because they're tired of being boring. I think people are ready to step out of their comfort zone and try new things with their hair. I mean i can speak for myself. I'Ve got cabin fever. I still sometimes feel like it's the year of 2020.. Meanwhile, so much time has passed and we we're stuck in the same kind of cycle or things are not really changing. I personally want to change the things that i know i have control over. Like my hair color, i have been risking it for the bisquing it by trying out different types of direct dyes. On my hair, the first week of the year, i turned my hair freaking blue, which didn't last very long, but i digress. It is something that i did myself at home playing around with my hair, because i wanted to change and doing your hair yourself is fun and easy. I don't think that many people are going to be going to the salons for a lot of these hair changes. I think diy hair is really going to continue surging this year, as so many people have already learned how to cut their own hair at home. Using my hashtag pigtails haircut or even my universe, haircut, which is the haircut that i have right now and truth, be told, i think, the more that people learn how to take care of their hair, the more that they feel a responsibility over it. This is another one of those things, i'm speaking from experience, so i know for me this is just going to be another year of doing my own hair, because not only is it a risk that i think people are willing to take correct me if i'm wrong, But i also just think it's fun and it's that change that we have power over and at the end of the day, if we don't like how much we have been cutting, i hope that in 2022 we see more curly hair extensions. There already are some curly hair extensions out there. I personally own a pair. I'Ve got some clip-ins that sometimes i like to use, but i do want to see more of these just so. People have more versatility with their hair as well. Extensions do pair really nicely with a bob haircut and it gives you the best of both worlds to play with your hair. And, finally, i think people are ready to start taking more risks with styling. I don't think that we need to be afraid of heat styling, not like a lot of people used to be in the past, because we know how to use our hot tools as well. Now we know that we need to use heat protection and how to use it. We know what temperatures to use on our hair, and we know that as long as the hair is strained correctly, you can do it without the consequences of ruining your curl pattern, especially since, at this point our hair is super healthy because we have been treating it. We'Ve got these hair, strengtheners and peptides, and all of these tools that we can use like the dyson air wrap to create the bouncy blowouts that are everywhere right now and i will admit, as a curly hair enthusiast, i do look forward to seeing curly hair people Switch up their hair, it's just so fun. The power you hold, it is in your hands. The year ahead is in your hands. We have control over the type of year that we want to have someone. The cdc also has control, but for the most part we have the control, and if you know what you want out of your hair journey this year, then i want you to envision it and manifest it, and i would also like to see it. So. Please tag me in all of your future journeys. If you want to get started on your hair journey, then i hope that you do subscribe to me and give this video a thumbs up. It helps out the channel a lot, and it makes me know that you look forward to seeing our videos each and every texture, tuesday. Oh my god, i just remember one more thing: weddings because i know everyone's weddings got postponed. Weddings will well like they're, never not going to be in trend, but that's a trend, prediction and insights for this year on this channel. If you or a loved one is getting married and you have to attend a wedding and you're thinking about wearing your hair curly, then you'll definitely want to stick around because love is in. The air. Love is in the hairs, and i look forward to seeing you this year until next time you can continue checking out the playlist on this channel for more details. You can check out last year's new year's video, which emphasized five bad curlier habits that you should avoid and for therapy again, you can check out the tangle teaser links in the description box below thank you to them for sponsoring this video and thank you for watching. I think my work here is done until 2023, where we shall see how we did with the predicting peace. I think we'll turn the spice up. My spice, i mean the light, we're manifesting light. We are manifesting good, hair, we're manifesting a good rare. This is the year booty games. How is the hair booty gains and bangs 2022? I already love you. I don't even know how this looks. Am i too zoomed? Are you trying to kill me with all these candles in here? I can barely breathe, but now they're lit and they're there and um. That'S it just because something didn't work, for you doesn't mean it won't work for joe. What name rhymes with you rue from euphoria. Euphoria is gon na, be a huge trend this year, because season two and 2022 is killing it.

Manes by Mell: What are your 2022 hair trend predcitions or better yet what are your hair goals this year? If you decided that you too need to check into Hairapy and check out Tangle Teezer's brushes to start you on your healthy hair journey! Here are the ones I used in today's video Scalp Exfoliator & Massager https://amzn.to/3FSkSRH The Ultimate Detangler https://amzn.to/3rHEPpf

Zach Boatwright: Seeing someone as influential as you push sustainability makes me so happy!

Donna Rothermel: Mel, went to a Doctor's Appointment today that I wasn't looking forward to, and the receptionist said "your curls are poppin", and it made my day. They wouldn't be poppin if I hadn't been watching your videos! Thank you!

Julilla: I stopped coloring my hair a few years ago and my hair is in great condition. I have these beautiful silver grays and I'd love to have some tips on how to deal with curly gray hair because they are a different texture than the rest. My previous routines don't seem to work with the grays, so now I've got a new challenge.

ch: What you told about 2020 and how people discovered their own hair actually happened to me. All my life I've been cut off all of my hair because it was so freaking frizzy and never would get any hairstyle to look well in me (I'm a boy). But from 2020 I stopped cutting it off and guess what: a beautiful 3b/3c hair just grew lol Now I know how to style it. I'd say since August 2021 I reached a stable point (I chose my cream, my gel, my conditioner etc). Thank you Mell, you've been a big part of my journey. <3

Samantha Perez: Happy cried a little to see my favorite curly talking about sustainability as a lifestyle (I'm a sustainability advocate/researcher)! I'm always struggling to find sustainable package stylers so I'm super excited to see what you recommend cause I want people to see that they can have cute hair and have the products be more sustainable! Love you lots Mel :'D

Christina: Love all of this. When we emerge from our pandemic cocoons, we’ll all be curlier than ever before thanks to you, Mell! You’re the best!

bethany conlon: Mell firstly I'd like to say thank you so much to you and Amanda, you both have gotten me through a really tough time these last few weeks and I look forward to every texture tuesday. I want to thank you so much for saving my curly hair, I have naturally fine to medium curly hair and through 15+ years of myself or a member of my family doing my hair wrong it has damaged my curl pattern but since I have been watching your videos I haven't seen my hair this curly in years I honestly cried when I finally followed one of your tutorials because the results where absolutely amazing. Your personality is so inspiring and really encourages me to be more myself, thank you so much for all you and Amanda do ❤️❤️❤️

Andrea Smith: I've started my hair journey in August 2020 and still going. I just recently used the curlsmith bonding salve and it helped so much after only 2 uses. I think my hair will actually be fully healthy this year!!

Summer Armstrong: I’m so glad to hear you say that there will be a trend toward some heat styling/doing things to our curly hair that seemed so taboo a couple of years ago. There have been so many “rules” for curly hair, for so long, that I have recently been thinking about just quitting. I simply can’t do it anymore. With COVID, work, kids, and life, I have a limited amount of time to work on my curls, and I can’t follow all of the “rules” that I am supposed to. I use products that are healthy for my hair, and have cut down on the number of them. That, as well as not being so strict about how to style, has saved my curls. Thanks for your words!

Theresa Milstein: I found your channel during the early days of COVID. I'd been straightening my 3b hair for 10 years, had damage from thermal reconditioning from 2018, and was trying to figure out all the new products. I always love when you have bangs. it would be great to see a curly-bangs focused video--how to cut, curl, style, dry. I know you've done parts of this, but I'd love to see it all together.

Carina Tejada: I am new to this channel and am sooooo addicted! I’ve been watching now for 2 plus week and I’m absorbing everything in your videos… I’ve been curly for years now and cannot believe how much I still have to learn. I’ve been Washing my hair daily for at least 8 years sadly but am learning to love and rock day 2 curls thanks to you ! Keep it going Mell and Amanda!

Anshul Jharia: You guys just made by day! Looking forward for more videos trying sustainable products as well as solid stylers. With love, from India. <3

Faye Berman: I love that you not only reviewed last year, but also look forward to the year to come. I say alUminum, but my 8th grade science teacher was British, and she pronounced it aluMINIum, and it was my favorite word that year. Also do you think you could do a quick direct dye into deep conditioner trick? Or, could you just tell me what direct dye to use?

Rachel Levy: Hey Mel! I've been watching for a while now, and I have a bit of a hair issue that's developed in the last two months. (I have coarse but thin density curly hair.) So after my hair is styled and dried everything is fun until the next day, the curls fall out and become frizzy or kinda elongate themselves. I've tried to use hair stray to get it to keep that cast longer but it only seems to dry out my hair. What can I do other than reapplying product to fix this? (I also sleep with on a silk pillow and a silk bonnet, but I think the bonnet is also contributing to my curls loosening)

Audra Schwarz: You make me feel so much better about using my dyson air wrap and not worrying about the damage ! I love knowing I can wear my hair both ways without guilt

Yam Yam: MANE GIRL MELL! Thank you so much!!! I have been in quarantine for the past 5 days. I have watched all your videos, and revamped my curl routine! Thank you so much for your in-depth passion for videos. They have helped redefine my curly routine and open my mind to curly info i never knew I needed!!! By the end of my quarantine, I have purchased the tangle teezer brush and a bonnet, thanks to you and Seester Amanda. I have played with my products and styling techniques with the Denmann brush, and found a new way of applying/styling/drying combination. I feel motivated and inspired when I think about doing my hair! I am looking forward to refining my skills and watching my curls transform as they acclimate to my new curl regime! I am looking forward to trying the curl smith products, along with the leave-in spray from Aveda and the Aveda gel the next time I need products! I just got a bumble and bumble package for my birthday. TEXTURE TUESDAY REQUEST: surrounding the texture (3b, low porosity, fine but many strands) A video diving into product combos and techniques, tips for prep before styling and most importantly, tips for refreshing throughout the week??? Maybe its my lack of bonnet & product amount I’ve been using…. I always feel like I hate the result when i try to refresh, or its too big of a risk of having a bad hair day. In the end I end up co-washing and styling…. Every day except weekends. Thank you again,so so much!!! I feel like I was in Curl University!!! Love from Victoria, BC!

sanachan1: Yessssssss to more curly hair extensions! I took my extensions out in 2020 and ended up going with a curly bob with bangs, so way to get those predictions right! I would love to get some good clip ins or wefts for use in sew-ins, because I'm tired of i-tips. Also I've been using a shampoo bar from Viori and I like it a lot. I also picked up the Briogio scalp mask, so basically I'm making a bunch of your predictions come through.

Monica Ramirez: Love the darker hair color on Mell! When she goes blonde that's how I'll know Summah is here ☀

Sarah Montoya: 2020 def was my scalp care year and 2021 was my lazy year where I tried to simplify. Can't wait to see if some more affordable versions of the peptide products come out this year!

T S: Melll! You always know what we want lol I was going to ask for Wedding guest & bride styling ideas can’t wait!!

Kelsey Stanley: Love your videos so much Mel!! I’m always “haair” for them! ☺️

EL: Thank Goodness for you and your “Seester”!!! You’ve taught us so much, and I know there is a lot more to learn! Much ❤️ to You & Amanda! (PS: Men’s Hairstyles!!!! Tapping my fingers! ). My Mom taught me so much, but nothing about Curly Hair! That’s why I adore you and all the things you do to your own & Amanda’s!!! God Bless you All!!!

Elizabeth E: Love all these predictions! PLEASE do a video on package-free or refillable curly hair products! This is something I'm really trying to prioritize this year across the board in my life and would love to know what options are out there and whether they work before spending $$$ on them.

Angela Crowder: Hi Mell and Amanda, I'm so excited for your video! Thank you both so much!! Have a wonderful week!!! ❤❤

Marie H: I went ahead and had my hair cut off; I'm now rocking a curly pixie (I have fine, low-density, and low-porosity hair. I call it the Tri-curl-ta.). Before that, my hair was anywhere from chin-length to shoulder-length. I can't wait to see what you have coming up in 2022, Mell!

Sara M.: I love using minimal products. I also plan on trying Olaplex for the first time. I prefer products with fragrance thought because it makes for a more enjoyable experience. I also use your diy cuts on my hair!!! Thank you so much!!!

Diane H: Hi Mel! I’m a 2022 bride! I get married in the summer and would love to see some hair ideas for a hot summer wedding!

Chelsea Allen: I’ve been so excited to see more fragrance free options, fragrance is nothing but an irritant.

Heidi Proper: Also hoping for more sustainable options this year and would love to hear your top picks!

Melina Sica: Rewatching it and still am happy that I stayed up for the premiere So excited about the new trends. A new haircolor is not for me but a fun haircut for sure, but scared for the bangs. It is scary! Thank you madams❤️❤️

Karen Powers: Would love to see more of the things you do on wavy hair as it gets different results with the same products and techniques. Enjoyed a couple of the wavy videos that you did. More please!

jupiter: i was SOOOO stoked to see curlsmith do fragrance free products!! I've been using the leave in and it's not heavy on medium wavy hair!

Jessica Ruiz: Thx to you and your seester I started cutting my own hair due to your tutorials. I love the way it looks WAY better than the $200 cuts I was getting at the salon. You girls are great!!!

yasminee<3: that live was amazing! this year im starting my curly hair journey SERIOUSLY now. at the start of 2022 i started my no heat challenge for a whole year. im gonna try save my money and invest in some of the products mentioned in this video or other vids u have :) happy texture tuesday!

Lindsey Violet: Love the sustainable products. Last year I started using reusable menstrual products cup and pads (like to have choices),they’re amazing and I feel proud saving money and helping the earth! ❤️

Rachel Podhorcer: Cut my hair short this year and loved it! Ready to get it dyed for the first time?? What's your advice for first time highlights? Balayage? Something else?

LadyLal: THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT FRAGRANCE FREE!! omg i never used to mind fragrance with regular smelling shampoos like the smell of pantene or tresemme for example but OMGGG lately i feel like everybody is dumping in the essential oils in these bottles im gonna have to check out the fragrance free products youre talking about but we need to also push drugstrore brands to do the sameee!!! at the very MINIMUM stop over doing it. i tried a gel from curlsmith that was also so incredibly frangranced that it put me off from trying other curlsmith products so we shall see!

Christiana Underwood: So interesting. Back in 2020 I was trying to figure out my scalp issues I found your channel because of your fragrance free video. So glad I stuck around since. Can't wait to see if your predictions stick for this year.

Angelina Perez: Hi Mel, I just wanted to thank you for your videos. I have struggled for years trying to help my daughters and now my sons find the best way to care for their hair. They are biracial and although I have always considered my hair "curly" and they all have curly hair, their hair is not the same as mine. So the way I cared for my hair, did not/has not worked for them. I would ask anyone I knew what to use and it has been a lot of trial and error. Immediately after watching the video on curly hair does and don'ts, I sent the link to my daughters and told my sons they needed to watch it too! You managed to answer 18 years worth of questions in that video. My daughters followed your advice from that video today and I saw an immediate confidence boost in my oldest daughter! So, before I post a novel, I will end with another huge THANK YOU!

Andra: The wet tangle teezer is my fav..i ve been useing it for years! I also exfoliate my scalp with it. Also can give nice ringlets sometimes..basically an all in one brush.

Claire Daniels: At the end of 2021 I cut my hair into a short bob and my hair became much more of a wavy texture- and I love the short length as well as not always feeling so much pressure to achieve the perfect curls! In 2022 my goal is to work on strengthening my fine hair- I want to try k18!

misses elise: the ultimate detangler is also only $14 which is great compared to the $20+ denman brush

Jeon Jungkook: im so happy more curly brands are going fragrance free!!!! Fragrance makes my skin break out in a bad rash

Ataume: Exciting predictions! Looking forward to seeing how it goes. (Also, I've fulfilled several of your predictions from last and this year already And I didn't even mean to. Dyeing at home, for example. Never wanted to, because I thought my hair would turn into a dry frizzy mess.)

Nancy Budd: I love you so much Mel. I have never straightened my curly 3b/3c hair but I did give myself a drastic amount of length off last year and I'll be honest, I hated it. I like my hair long. I'm trying to be much better at caring for it as I literally wash it, put my cream and gel on, let it dry, tie it up for bed and then keep it tied up until the next wash day. I have always been quite embarrassed about my hair because people gave always had something to say about it when I wear it down but this year I think I will start to embrace it more ❤

Angelita Uriarte: Loveeed the videoo!! Thanks again for all the advice Mel and Amandaa!! ❤❤

Beth Bloink: This was a fantastic video, Mell! I love watching you so much!

ranch 26: Mel try the jack59 shampoo bars! They are women owned, Canada based and really good! Also as a nurse I have to watch how much fragrance is in my hair so I always use the dippity do unscented gel!

Emma Stokman: Hey Mel I love all of your videos but I was wondering if you could do a video for curly hair styles for an office or corporate job! I would really love to see what you come up with!!

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! Bummed I missed the live premiere and the chat but so excited to watch now!! Much love and happiness!! xoxo

Esmeralda Morales: I’ve watched your videos for so long and I always appreciate not only your insight but your sense of humor

B: BECAUSE OF YOU I CAN BRUSH MY 3b/3c comfortably now!! I detangle on dry hair and the tangle teezer has been amazing i brushed my hair out after 3 weeks and it ended up looking blow dried from the cold weather. I have a really sensitive scalp and its helped me not have pain i wish i would have known about it before my hair got super matted from being depressed and not brushing for 3 months ☠️

maddie: i’m so excited for fragrance free products, so many curl products smell heavily fruity or sweet like sugary icing (i’m looking and curlsmith and eva nyc, their scents make me sick) and i hate it

Yolanda 1984: I have been binge watching your videos since four days ago. I learned so much about mostly maintaining my hair which are the same curl type as your but much thicker and frizzier. I hope to use the stuff I am learning to have good following days to the good first and second good day.

Bunnies and Beyond: Great video Mel!! I’m hoping to try some color in my thus far virgin blond hair this year. Im scared of damaging it though, so if anyone knows of some more affordable hair strengthening products that really work, please let me know!! I can’t really afford Olaplex right now.

Samantha Despres: I love watching your channel, I always enjoy watching your videos. The ending is hilarious Mel I plan on doing the pigtails at home haircut this year to save money! I hope it goes well.

Amaal Bardien: I cut my own hair by following one of your tutorials last year and I'm SO happy I did

Sophia Aloeristok: I will definitely be subscribing to some of these trends, YES to experimenting and taking risks!!!! <3

Jane Doe: Hi Mell! New subscriber here. I love your videos. i always get good advice regarding hair styling and its overall health. I’m happy to say i’m never chemically straightening my hair ever again If you have time I have a video suggestion how about try using hair clay instead of gel to hold your curls. I feel like I’m the only one who does this and im curious whether it will work on other curl types and length. Btw, im a type 2/wavy girl with chin/neck length hair.

Dorcas Troche: You're always spot on. Your hair looks amazing, girl!

kristin hungerford: Hi Mel! I'd love to see reviews of shampoo an conditioner bars. Even better if they were fragrance free.

Amelia Moll: I just found your channel and OMG. I've been binge-watching and learning SO much! I also just really enjoy watching, you are SO beautiful and charismatic and funny. Thank you and you have a new subscriber! <3

Amanda Guido: IM HAIR FOR A PREM-HAIR!!!❤️❤️ it’s been a while

Christy: Type 4 hair here! I agree with less being more. No oil no butters started at the end of 2021 and as a low po gal I realized my hair is all about mousse and gel. I use mousse for eVERYTHING now . The doux mousse is my favourite! I'm shook! So good .

violet K: hey mell love you lots!!<3 could you do a video on these different eco-friendly products you were talking about? like the shampoo bars and products with less packaging?:)

hobbyartist: Mell, so happy to see you talking about sustainability. Could you please do a review on Ethique Curl Care line or other shampoo/conditioner bars at some point? Also, at the end of 2021 I found that for 2a curl pattern, coarse texture wavy hair the only essentials I need are shampoo bar, conditioner bar, detangling tool (for longer 2a/2b hair another essential I need is detangler/hair oil).

Rosy: I just got a curly hair cut and I bought the bumble and bumble hair line to start off this year. My focus this year is to have a more define curl pattern because my curls get flat one day after wash. (3a/3b)

Roxie Doggy: in march 2020 the “i didn’t know i had curly hair” youtube/tiktok trend was everywhere and that’s what made me want to learn how to style my waves. i’ve been doing it ever since and i’ll never go back. it was such a weird time to start since i didn’t leave my house but it’s a memorable event that helps me keep track of how long it’s been.

Xochitl Franco: I would definitely love to see more videos of package free products I had no idea there were styling bars? I’ve used only shampoo and conditioner bars

Mysti Fett: I have use olaplex and it did wonders for my hair. Looking forward to see how k18 compares.

Sophie Staheyeff: I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and have been loving it! Trend I see in my 2022? Watching more of your vids hugs from a textured girl from Switzerland!

Yara Alameddine: Yayy new video! Happy Texture Tuesday! Mell I have a question, my scalp has been hurting a lot and idk why. It's not even when I put tight hairstyles its all the time or when I wrap the hairtie one time around my hair. What should i do?

Melleetaitunefois: I'd really loved if you could reviews shampoo bar and other no packaging products For years now, i have been torn between sustainablity and less plastic and good curl care product, i soo happy to see that it i may not have to chose anymore

Nicole Casler: How different is the Tangle Teezer scalp massager from the other scalp massager you had in previous videos? And how different is this brush, styling wise, from the Denman? I have the previous massager and the Denman. I'm not sure if it would be worth it to replace them.

Aleyna Mack: Your predicted trends were on POINT. Also, on the continuation of scalp care, might I ask if you could do a review of the new Verb exfoliating scalp nectar? Anyway, I want to do a hair transformation so bad, but I'm trying to grow my hair out for a year before I do that (so I can get rid of most of the box dyed ends).

Elizabeth Thomas: 100% Pandemic helped me learn how to do my curly hair! Now in 2022 I have decided to try Keratin instead of hair cuts, which is really fun (Keratin Express so it's not bone straight.) Only funny thing is I now have to learn how to use all the fun products I bought on very different acting hair! I feel super powerful with Keratin but have only let myself get one 6 week treatment like once a year or less. I'll take 2022, do it every 3 months and see if I'm loving the consistently zero frizz hair with minimal work/product.

Wendy Jones: I definitely would love to see a video on shampoo and conditioner bars! I use Shea moisture and Tree naturals right now but would really be interested in other options!

Lizzy Case: I'm hearing more about perms lately! I'd love to know your thoughts on them and if there's a way to incorporate them into a healthy curly hair journey.

Gianna Nagle: Hi Mell! I just want to say that your curls are so beautiful! I had a question about my curls though, I am 13 years old and my hair is super damaged. I have bleached it, (it is mack to my natural color now) I straightened it for school everyday, and I always brush it when it is dry. My hair is super puffy and frizzy, but I think that I have curly hair because both of my parents have super curly hair and when I was younger (wherever I got hair to 5 years old) my hair was super curly, they were 3A curls. Once I got older my mom stopped taking care of my curls so I would just brush through them resulting in a puffy mess. I just started to take care of my curls recently but they are super flat. They are now a 2A or 2B and it is so hard trying to make them curl more. I do not have a diffuser or a denim brush so I have to finger coil my hair. I also just cut off close to 8 inches of my hair and I now have a short bob. It is curling more because of the weight I took off of it but it still is not curling to it's fullest potential and it is really irritating. I am starting to question if I even have curly hair.... What should I do to make my hair curl to it's fullest potential? Thank you for taking the time to read this I love you!

A M: I grew up with my mum being extremely sensitive to any fragrance and it annoyed me so much as a kid because I've always wanted to be very fancy and feminine so I resented not being able to smell cute. Well fast forward a but and I'm developing the same sensitivities. Not all fragrance, but I haven't been able to narrow down what exactly triggers my migraines so it's easier to get fragrance free and not think about it. I like that jessicurl do three options for their products, the citrus lavender, island breeze and fragrance free.

jennifer ramirez: Mel you are a genius and a great predictor hair expert. I am like you taking care of my scalp with oil massages , and into sustanability due to my love for nature. Thank you for your content.

Farah Kinawy: is it just me or is mell glowing here? i love her new hair so much

Bianca Nitica: Great video as always! Would love you to try the Suds & Co shampoo/conditioner bars! Also we need an in-depth direct dye tutorial to kick off the DIY haircare.

Rylee Hobson: I just saw at As I Am released shampoo, cowash, conditioner, and a leave in conditioner bar. I’ve only used their cowash before. I’m very curious about the bars and would love to see a review on them!!

Vanessa Gonzalez: I think it would be really awesome if you could share the different type of dies you use on your hair or what other curl girls can use. A lot of times people shame store-bought box dye, so please share !

Irma Radinson: All your tips and tricks help me so much . The tangled teezer is awesome I just order the scalp one

Jéssica F.: I love your videos. Thanks for sharing so much knowledge with us! Your current hair colour is so beautiful!

Two Sisters Ranch: I just found out I have wavy hair and your videos help a lot! Specially when you say if a product will work with wavy hair. I also have a thin/med hair. I have been bing watching your videos to figure out what I should try!

Jackie H: Hey Mel! Love your videos!! Do you have any experience with using henna and indigo in curly hair? I want to try it but I read henna can loosen your curl pattern

Marissa Myers: Can you PLEASE do reviews and recommendations on typical drugstore shampoos and conditioners (Aussie, tresemme, Pantene, ogx, etc)? I know you have said you haven’t been impressed with these in the past but I’d like to hear what you have to say about them since they are so widely accessible and affordable. thank you❤️

Ava Eastman: Ahhh definitely looking forward to the wedding hair style videos most!!

Zosia: Sustainability and fragrance-free, yes!

Val Garay: When I was sick in 2020 AND 2021 my hair got super thin and my curl pattern got all wonky and my 2022 goal is to just get my hair to look somewhat like before.

Maria Reusing: Chagrin Valley Soap and Salve had a huge line of shampoo bars. They also have sustainable packaging and they're a great company.
