Hi, I'm Julia and I'm a hairstylist in Los Angeles and I'm here to talk to you about curling iron tips for long hair. So this is my model. Heidi she's already got a lot of curls in her hair, but we're just gon na talk about some different ways to curl some different options for you. So I have three slices of curling irons here, there's a bunch more that you can get all the way from teeny-tiny thin ones to super fat ones, but I have probably about the three sizes that are most frequently used when curling hair. This is about a 3/4 size, curling iron. This is about an inch, and this is about an inch and a quarter inch and a half so, depending on your hair type, your hair is texture and thickness. It'S gon na sort of define which, which curling iron you're gon na want to use. So if you want tighter, curls you're gon na use a smaller curling iron, so let me just show you a little bit of that. So what you want to do when you're curling your hair, I always like to start from the bottom and work up. I basically take the hair up, clip it up and sort of start at the bottom, and then I'm going to use the smallest curling iron right here. There'S a couple different ways to use the irons. The first way is sort of horizontal. If you think of the head like this and I'm going to do a horizontal curl, where I curl over like this, so I'm gon na go ahead and go in wrap it around and continue to wrap around as I occur and then go ahead and let it Go once you have the curl, you can either clip it up. If you want to have it hold for a little bit longer and let it cool you'll see a lot of people sort of walk it around like this. You may clip it like that or if you don't have the time to do that, you can sort of just let it go. This sort of parting, with the horizontal is gon na give you a curl that looks like this. This is sort of like a Shirley Temple type curl. So now I'm going to do a curl with a vertical party. So if horizontal was going like this along, the head vertical is gon na go like this. So I've got my piece of hair. There light spritz of the light hold hairspray. Now I'm going to use a slightly larger barrel iron. The is my one inch and this is also a spring curling iron. These are a little more frequently used at home, so I'm going to go ahead and go in close it. So I'm going to go ahead and let that go and as you can see, that has a little bit more curl up to the root in comparison to this Shirley Temple curled. That was more horizontal and you see the difference in barrel size, this being smaller and this being a little bit larger and then the last curl that I'm going to show you is using a larger barrel, curling iron, and this is really the curl. That is a little bit more user-friendly and you're gon na probably use more on the daily basis. I'M gon na take just a medium sized section. I'M not gon na worry about horizontal or vertical run through it and I'm using a larger barrel. Curling iron. This is about the inch and a quarter inch and a half, and I'm just gon na wrap it around. The curling iron hold that there for a little bit and go ahead and let that go and as you can see, based on how I did the curl and the size of the barrel, you have a looser, more natural, looking curl and this is sort of the Curl that you probably want to do all over your head, then you'll piece it out and I'll have those nice list curls and waves. So there are some differences with the different curling iron sizes and the ways that you can use them in your hair. I always like to finish with a light spray to let them hold, and I like to give them time to cool, always like three to five minutes before you piece them out, then you can either piece them out with your hands a brush, a comb just depending On the style that you want to get so there, you go curling iron tips for long hair.
