#NaturalHair

So I'm about to get ready for work. All I ever do is my hair, and so I thought we would do a get ready with me in which we discussed the trends that I helped us naturally Spurs are leaving in 2019 men, women, children, let's leave them, but first, if you're new here welcome my Name is akia, and I love for me is a space where I share love for type for natural hair beauty and a bit of lifestyle in between, and if you subscribe before this video. Thank you for subscribing. Thank you for watching my videos. They give forward becoming part of this tribe. I really appreciate you so if you want to know specifically how I've been maintaining my straight here, we're almost week to hear then check out patreon, that's where those videos have been going, and now I'm just gon na. Take this down and give myself a good part: I've been exercising every day so yeah. I do have a video coming up on exercising with natural hair and how to maintain it. I have been asked several times so that it is coming. I promise you, but I'm just gon na take this down. I need you to create a min part and um yeah. So I'm stabbing my hair. You guys will see it so first trend we are leaving in 2019 the wet look. What was that little blip on the radar? What was that guys like that was really interesting? I'M like first of all, I don't even know where it started, but it spread like wildfire once it started. We have no idea where it started, though, and then you know it was funny to see the people with my texture. Try to do it because it takes like a whole freakin jar of gel to make it happen, which means it probably wasn't the best thing for people's there and like a lot of people's hair, never dried, and it was okay. Why are we doing this? But it was it's something different. How about that, like the community has so many things that are the same. It was something different right can't be mad at that, and but I surely hope that we leave it in 2019 and there's not some kind of like twist on it cuz. I could see that happening. Let'S not, let's leave the wet look where it belongs, not even 2019: it belongs in the 80s. Let'S leave it there, okay and then another weird thing that happened in 2019. That I really want us to leave is machines to take the place of doing the work. That is our here, so the twisting the machine that twisted the hair. For you, I mean I watched from one of those videos, and I was like mmhmm that looks like trouble that looks like my hair will be so just tangled and there will be knots and stuff, and you can't. Why would you do this? It didn't look like it was like cutting at a time it did look like it was made for our texture. No god what? What no? Let me do, a part look. We can't be back lazy with our natural hair. You have got to be level for this, and that can't be one of them that so could not be one of them. We cannot do that. We cannot leave our hair or like twisted and matted for the sake of saving like a bit of time. If you don't do that, you might so just wear your hair in a bun that just don't make no sense, don't do it guys, don't do it. I was hoping they don't come out with anything else cuz. I know people will try it and I am hoping look if you'll see those machines at least watch somebody with a looser texture, try it and they make the decision. Don'T just try it like you won't. I am NOT one of them. Influencers will do it for the views. Obviously. So if you want that visiting that channel, but don't do that and then another one that I kind of do pointsme and I really want us to move beyond, is returning to relaxers these videos where people are talking about. You know how they return to relaxers and I'm like. Oh that's just you know. That'S really sad for me, like. I think, because there's such a stigma in the community around straight hair and then people want to have issues with people where we use and wigs and things it's like. There'S this mix there's this this pervading myth that it is better to be relaxed and to be a straight haired natural and that don't even make sense, because a relaxer is such a harsh, harsh chemical. You really are like putting your life at risk. I think you could get a bird seriously by relaxed or not to mention like this, the conclusive evidence that relaxers are horrible for the body and for some reason, that's better than just straightening the hair and the hair not having much of a curl anymore whoop. How does it even make sense like if you want to wear your hair straight? Wear it straight. Forget everybody else. Forget everybody else. Do you, but I mean look, I'm not saying don't relax, actually, I'm saying don't relaxed, but I'm also not saying that I'm gon na judge you for your life decisions. Everybody has their own situation whatever, but I did see like a trend going towards people relaxing again in 2019, and that is not something I want to see as a trend carrying on in 2020 is people will relaxer hair great, but I don't want to see like A bunch of people relax in their hair in 2020. That'S not what I want to see personally, but you know, as I said, you do you and then on lighter note. I want to leave these new releases every month in 2019, like what is going on. The brands are putting out something new all African time. It'S that one collection a year we've got like three or four a year. It'S ridiculous or you know, there's a new holiday planner. You know. Look look dr. tribute to consumerism in that way, please these brands. Do it because we buy it. So can we like get control of our coin in 2020? Can we not do that? Can we not encourage that? Yes, I review natural hair products, so I probably contribute to it, but I would buy everyone on the planet and in 2020, I'm using up my stache, whether you guys know that I'm not like. I haven't done some huge announcement, but don't do it, and that brings me into the next trip having a huge hair products. I thought that was a dying, but, like Black Friday made me realize that, like it hasn't died, people bought tons of product tons of product. I mean the halls I saw were insane and I'm not saying I didn't buy anything I did, but I inventoried my stash before I shop for Black Friday and both of those videos are on patreon, but that'll make no sense. I can't get on right here in the moment. Look at this is cute. I love y'all know I love these. The volume yeah I'll show y'all the back eventually at the end of the video, but I need to stop being distracting, but these huge hair products is, unless you are at macro influence there. I don't understand as a single person as a person with a family, you don't get a wall of hair products and this is gon na, be one that I'm probably gon na get flack for. But you got ta do better with our codes. We got to stop falling for these brands. Traps use up the products. There are people who cannot afford product, and normally I wouldn't say that about a thing but like it's at a point where consumerism in America is coming way too many issues for people. So please please, in 2020, use up your hair steps. Let'S do that. I mean you can still get the same joy and fun and your own hair stash, because I know there's a lot of products that you haven't tried. So, let's leave the wall and your products 20:19. Let'S leave the huge repeated hauls in 2019 and just use the products we love up and then try new ones like what it's not necessary. Let'S not do it and I think I want to stop seeing influencers. Do it these videos, something about grow, your hair, okay, going here in three days I drew my hair five inches three months like what's the hell, you would have to be a special type of person to do that. That doesn't happen. Stop titling your videos that stop selling snake oil to people, and I found that it did. I'Ve watched those videos and if you watch them carefully, people are like that clickbait or well. Actually, what happened is I threw this and then but then the last thing, once I saw like an inch or two and it's like okay, that's normal, stop doing it. It is normal for anybody who doesn't know if we need to get more growth at certain parts of the year than others. It'S the life cycle of hair. So if you get three inches in two months, don't think you got the secret to life because you don't stop doing that to people and then, on the same end of spectrum, these weird-ass hair growth trends like look. There are things that you can do to help. You retain length, but in the end it's all internal hair growth happens in size. So you can do a ton of things, a ton of things to keep your hair soft and happy and retain its length. But all these things where people are telling you that, if you do this, your hair won't grow is B. Yes - and I would like to stop seeing it in 2020 - and I know there's going to be a bunch of hair growth challenges, I'm going one myself and if it doesn't involve just healthy hair practice, don't fall for it. Please and especially, don't buy, kits and and courses and things and I'm not coming for anybody in particular. This is just the influencer world in general. Right now, everybody's got a course. Everybody'S got a kid everybody's got this formula or this secret. It'S not a secret. It'S not a formula, it's just the way they packaged it and I really want people to not fall for it in 2020. I know I'm probably gon na rub some people the wrong way, and I really want to reiterate that I'm not talking about anyone in particular, like I said, I'm doing my own hair girl challenge on Facebook. But if you go and look at it, you'll see it's focused on healthy hair this month, we're just focusing on consistency. I'M not gon na sell you some snake oil, I'm not gon na. Tell you that you get a pill, and this will happen. I'M not gon na tell you, but if you massage your hair every day, this will have it mm-hmm, I'm not gon na. Do it because I understand hair growth and I encourage you to not go into somebody's video and make snide comments. It'S not necessary, but I do encourage you, you some bit of discernment. Thank you. That'S my TED talk, but what am I looking forward to in 2020? I'M actually looking forward to more haircuts. I am loving, absolutely loving the short hair trend. It'S like these haircuts that are fun and design the stuff I'm here for it. I love it and my cutting my hair. No, but I love seeing it and I love sharing it all over Instagram and YouTube and stuff. So I think that's really cute. I'M here for the hair color, the temporary hair colors, I freaking love them. I think the temporary hair color is such a fun way to experiment with your color, especially the brighter ones, without damaging your hair. I love me some Gemini naturals and I do want to try more of it in 2020. I am looking forward to more hair product combos. I have loved that trend. I think Kimberly shirelle is the one who started. You know the combo fitting, but I love that I think it's a great way to use the product you have. So I'm definitely looking forward to that in 2020 this year for sure, I'm looking forward to trying more of the natural haircare things you know to give most gadgets the the adornment people are coming out with hair clips and things and, like things that you know, I Had to the fun that is natural, hair and not costly golf damage or selling snake oil, or anything like that, I'm to 1 to 400 ollar, dice and blow-dryer. So I don't know by the infamous year, but that's it for this video. I think you know I've done enough, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a lot of flack with this one, but in the comments box below, let me know what trends you want to see die and stay in 2019. And what would you like to see happen in 2020 and if you want to see how I maintain my straight here for these weeks, then definitely I don't know where patreon become a patron and you'll find out until next time. Check me out on patreon Instagram Facebook and the blog thanks for watching guys, but ok. So this morning I exercise so last night I put my hair and these two men to knots with a hair tie. I should I saw, and this morning I put this had been around before exercising and now it's like hours later said, the exercise. You know clean myself, ate food

Towanda Johnson: Sooo glad you mentioned the wet look. That look was a hot mess and soooo old. I thought it was the absolute worse.

Olivia Fitz: I'm one of those people that has a wall of hair products for just myself. It really is a consumerist addiction of always wanting the next best thing and to catch the best sales. Before BF, I had a very modest stash of a few products and now I have half a closet dedicated to hair products. If you're able to pay your bills on time and manage your money outside of buying hair products, I don't think it's the worst consumerism to have. But it's not necessary to accumulate that many products, especially considering they will eventually expire. I won't be picking up any new lines from new brands this year. I'm sticking to what I know works.

Wadza Mac: The trend were people were using dish washing liquid to wash their hair. Nooooooo. Please leave that in 2019.

Kathy MahoneStreet: We are always looking for that miracle product that doesn’t exist!

Tucsha: I agree with you about stashes! Using my hair stash 2020!

Micah Michelle: Preach! For 2020, I'm on a mission to use my stash; my overwhelming, insane stash...I'm a sucker for a good deal and, as a result, have accumulated shelves and drawers full of products. I'm exercising self discipline from here on out. I've accomplished my goal of learning what products and techniques work best for my hair, so....I'm out of the game. ✌

I Mac: Yassssss! This is on point. I think the only thing you left out were the "extreme neglect to poppin" videos. "Washing my hair after 3 months in a ponytail!" We all just need to be consistent. Smh

Irene Willis: I agreed it’s better to be a heat trained natural then going back to the creamy crack.

F G: I’m glad you’re talking about consumerism, 2019 was the year of testing for me but I’ve found really good staples so far and surprisingly I’ve gotten a lot of emails that are having sales and the only money I spent for 2020 is the liters of soultanicals because I was only waiting for that. I’m all good over here I’m going to start doing some DIY’s. And also can we leave ignorance in 2019 too many naturals talk bout ingredients without fully understanding everything like ima need to see that chemistry degree boo .

Kathy MahoneStreet: I hope the baby hairs trend goes away! Slicking them down throwing away money on edge control! When you are past toddler age you do not have baby hairs!

Tamera On Life: I could never get with that rice water challenge The wet look was weird Girl i got a tapered cut and blonde highlights! I'm ready to have fun with my hair

Kathy MahoneStreet: A love for me I agree I am not going back to relaxed hair! I agree with you, makes no sense for me to ruin my scalp and health!

Dominique: Yes I did love the temporary hair colors and product combos and seeing ppls results. Those are fun

Denise Evans: Yes to the temporary hair colors! Less damaging.

Myeisha Thompson: Using up my product stash all 2020 for sure! I’m on a no buy this year. I’m on 2 hair challenges this year and I’m making it a point to be consistent with my hair regimen. I see the relax/texlax and hair grease trend coming this year. I tried to hop on the rice water challenge and I couldn’t do it...the smell...I just couldn’t do it.

Gyamstar: I saw people's hauls after black friday n couldnt believe it, I'm thinking dont these products expire in a year? No to onion n rice water hair growth trends. In 2020 I think more people are going back to creamy crack and grease is making a huge comeback

Rakiya Hamilton: I am curious to know what you think about the resurfacing of hair grease like Blue Magic in the natural hair community...seems like that will be the trend for 2020

May LaVerne Barnes: Great video Akiah, you have given us food for thought and discussion. I am looking forward to combining products from different brands to see how the will work together. I will also be using the various collections I have still trying to find the best one(s) for my hair.

Bubs Bee: Great video, I do agree!!! Let's all do better this year

Marleen G.: I'm a weekly washer. I have so much that I put myself on a project use it up. I did it in 2018, in 2019 and I'm going to be doing it this year. Used up 40 products in '18, 45 in '19 and I'm trying to beat that number. Not by being wasteful, just... by using it up normally. I've been on a low-buy ever since 2018. So I did both. It's so eye opening to what you actually need & use.

eveningbreeze: I am also using up my stash in 2020. I am not bothered by people having many products but I've seen some you tubers with huge hauls for BF and then I see more large hauls shortly after. I think it helps to remember every deal comes around again. Every sold out product gets restocked. You can get it some other time.

Chanty: Achia this was a fun video! Yes I agree I never want to see the wet look videos again and I never want to hear the words rice water again! While I am an occasional product junkie, I do agree that we need to cool down on hoarding and focus more on nailing an effective hair care regimen with products that work for us. My goal is figure out my staple products and explore new products occasionally. But first, I gotta use up my stash. Yes, I too plan to do my own growth challenge because i always cut my hair, so for 2020 I will only do trims and see what kind of legnth I can achieve.

Mel W: Honestly I see alot of type 4 naturals going back to relaxer/ texlax in 2020!..TOO MANY HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR SOME!!

Jasmine: I admit it...I did the wet look and the yt ppl at work LOVED it.Also it was still wet 3 days later lmao I think those machines that twist hair would be great for those with arthritis etc. Some1 just needs to make one for kinky hair.

Elizabeth Johnson: Yes I'm loving the killer combos! I also want the Dyson blow dryer . I would love to see your review on it if you choose to get it.

Mylynn J: I agree with the overabundance of products. They'll go bad before you can get to it all. If I buy a product that does not work for me, I have no qualms about taking it back (I keep all receipts for this reason). Watching your channel has helped with getting products that will work.

Faith Gipson: I really enjoy the realism of your videos. I understand why you are doing the Patreon (did I spell that correctly lol), but I have to admit that I miss you doing those lifestyle videos on this channel. Having said that, you are flourishing girl. Much love!

CC H: Great vid! I'm already using up my stash...It's lots of Fun!

marvinandjosh1: I totally agree with the growth videos. Good gracious. And once YouTubers realizes the views these types of videos bring, other follow suit, playing off the desperation of some naturals to get length.

Johanna Jay: So funny, but I bought Xtreme Wetline to slick my hair back (after seeing TWA person do it), but this was before the wet look came out. Which took away the desire to slick my hair back. That gel was sitting around until I tried it 3 weeks ago.

Karen Reeves: I too really want to see the wet look go away. Now that I know what works best for my hair the number of product lines I use have been reduced. I only bought a couple of new products from the Black Friday sales and the rest was just re-stocking spent products. The only new products I will be purchasing for 2020 will be anything new from Melanin and Miche. I do want to try the scalp treatment products from Curlsmith (the blue line) later this year when I have finished the charcoal scalp products from Briogeo. I did a big clean out in 2019 and will be very selective for 2020.

Bel Jones: Yes, holding on to my coins!!!! Loved this!!!

marvinandjosh1: These crazy stashes...Why does one need 47 shampoos, 649 deep conditioners, and 7493 stylers for one head of hair?!?

Gina Anderson: Stay with your natural hair styles. They look beautiful on you. This straight look, no. If it's not broke, don't change it.

Trina Time All the Time: Looking forward to trimming my ends!

michelle6694: I didn't even try the wet look!! Definitely, NOT relaxing my hair again!! Omgz! Dishwashing liquid...No!! I'm still using maximum hydration shampoo and conditioner!! I'll try new products when I use what I have. That's what I'm applying consistency!!

MzLadiiCap: I agree about using up my stash.. I went crazy last summer loll... I just could not see myself putting Monistat on my scalp Great video sis!

Zalina: Thanks for being a grounded channel.

Marisa Mack: That “soul glow” leave it in the 80’s please!

Kiki: 9:24- 9:29 I LOVED that lol!!!

Red seouls: No flack from me, just love!!

Allyson Terrell: I agree with using up your stash, I went crazy on bf 2018, since I'm the only natural in my house I still have unopened products, I didn't shop on bf 2019, no buy till I use up what I have

❄️Naturally Kool🌬️: Great video

Oluwadamilola O.: ready for the tea to be spilled!

Rosa Healthy Hair: Nice trend that need to go is disowning product companies and trends we need in 2020 healthy body equals healthier hair and learn your own hair, try different styles

Shelley Rice: I'm using up my stash in 2020, I have given away so many hair products the last six months.

Marsha Lifestyle: Is the "wet look" just a wash and go or is it something different?

Karen's Essentials: I didn’t know about all these trends lol!

kittyskid1: Good video.

Marina Hernandez: Amen sista! Hair grows from a healthy inside and genetics.

Gabrielle Ricci Art: Okay so I’ve always loved your channel because you are not the one to be trying these ridiculous natural hair trends floating around YouTube. But can we please leave the whole “taking down my cornrows after 3-4 months” thing in 2019?? Those videos have traumatized me and my hair got scared just watching them.

Francine Maultsby: Thanks I'm glad u brung up About going back to a relaxer when I comment on YouTube blogger page when she went back to texlax or whatever u call them ppl was coming at my throats like if I was the that put a relaxer back in my hair because I had a opinion that how I felt and still do and I'm sticking to it y go back my opinion ‍♀️

MAMA NATURE: The growth overnight

Marisa Mack: Lol! Love this video !!

Just K: TOTALLY agree about using up my stash.i already put myself on punishment for buying NOT NARY NOTHER hair product in 2020!!! #outtacontrolin2019 But...black rice water is sho nuf good to me. Not leaving that in 2019

Deaisha P: ❤️❤️

Out & About & OUUUT!: Wow didn't know you had a Patreon lol. Why in 2019 did YouTubbers start putting their info on Patreon and charging for info? Lol you go. I love your YouTube videos though.

T Michele89: The facts

Dominique: Snake oil

Shan: Gang gang
