ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.

I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

Hi guys so continuing my series ask ali i'm gon na leave the link on this form down below. I will get your question and, if i feel like i can make a separate video about this, i will answer your question right there in the video sophia is asking hi ali. I love your videos so much. Thank you sophia. What hairstyles are best for round square faces? Uh? First of all, it just depends also not only on the front of your face, but also on a profile, so there can be very flat faces and there can be faces that have a lot of volumes here so faces that have a lot of volumes here. If you're making it super sleek into the back, then it can uh look just too prominent as a conscious to that sleek and flat hair, so this is what's happening. On the other hand, if you love your volumes, because it just depends on your preference, like some people want to exaggerate those those volumes and some people want on contrary very flat faces. I'Ve talked to so many women and they many women just that want they want different things and their viewpoint on beauty is so different, so it just depends on what exactly you're trying to make now if your profile is really coming forward. Let'S say your middle part. Your nose is pretty prominent your cheekbones and your lips. Everything is kind of slightly prominent on the profile, then that that's what's happening if you make it sleek on the back and it doesn't matter if your face is super narrow or super wide. You know it just work um as a contrast, if you're making it sleek, it will just make be more prominent. So if you make your hair more prominent or hanging here on the sides, it will make this not. It will make it more balanced and not as pronounced your volumes from the side. Now, if you have pretty flat face like let's say many asian women, they have pretty flat faces from the front, but they still sometimes can have squarish face or rounded face wider face. In this case, that slickness sometimes can add them some volume to the face now: hair styles and hair cuts. That would look good if you want still to reduce the volume of the face to make your face slightly narrower. So what you're doing is we're creating some volume on top. Of course, this is that volume illusion that we're creating we're cutting that top here, slightly shorter with a slight movement. I'M showing this in one of my videos, how to create volume on top and actually for curly, hair and for straight hair for any type of hair. So you can create a volume on top and then you're not creating a lot of volume on the sides and also, if you start stop somewhere here, what it can make. It can create make your head more square and wider a little bit, and then it will make your neck look slightly wider too, because your neck will be exposed to the light, and then the light will shine on your neck from the sides. Your neck will be slightly wider because, if you would do on contrary, if you would do slightly elongated hair, like let's say starting an inch below the chin, so that here, as you can see even on my example right now, that hair is creating some shadows on The sides of the neck so next starts being slightly longer and narrower so and the whole face looks more chiseled. Also those big long lines by your face, starting from here and going on the sides of your face and finishing again somewhere one inch below the chin and longer we are talking about long, bobs, longer, hair and stuff. They can also make your face. Look not as wide and not as square. I would not recommend if you have square jaw here. I would not recommend trying to cover it somehow or just cover it with the hair and stuff like that. Just because that such a beautiful and strong feature and many women nowadays, i even know many women who are trying to inject those um jawline that jawline here just to make it more square. That itself is a very unique, strong and very beautiful feature. So i would not do anything just to cover it. Of course, if you're making your hair - let's say your partial is slightly on the side or in the center and you're making your hair just lying on your face down like that and covering parts of your face, and it goes slightly below the chin. Of course, that creates that illusion that your face is partially covered and your face will become much narrower oval face and even the most narrow face can also become much narrower with that trick. So, and i'm talking now about no bangs situation now, if you're curious about the bangs and what they do to your face, whether it's rounded or it's narrow, i recommend you to watch those videos, i'm talking about the banks or what different types of banks do actually To your particular face, so you will have some ideas about what kind of illusion that banks creates on your face. So you can check that. But then, just in general, some banks, they can widen your face. Uh, if you make your banks, if you make, if you're, taking a lot of your hair and especially you're, also getting some hair, which is above your temples, if you're cutting that hair shorter two, so your bangs becomes very wide and when your bangs becomes very wide, It just opens that bottom part, and sometimes it can be heavier than the rest of your face heavier than you it actually is it just over, creates the illusion of wider face if that makes sense, so i would not probably recommend this, but if you are making That banks and your let's say you're only getting hair from the center somewhere, like maybe an inch on top, and then you are you're cutting that, even if it's brow length, but here on the sides above your temples, you have full hair. That goes down. That can actually look very pretty, but it will depend more on your vibe on your lifestyle on the style overall on your job or your facial features on your body type. I would not risk recommending you that, so we are much more safe if you just go without things or you're, making those longer bangs now they say longer, bangs, always just making that facial structure slightly less wide and slightly more oval yeah. It'S true. The diagonal, though, has to be more vertical, if, if you make the partial here and that will create more horizontal diagonal and that horizontal diagonal will widen it even more so the partial that we are creating, it has to be close to the center, not in the Center, though you can try with the center too like that, is the most universal partial you're, just making it slightly on the side and then that vertical diagonal that does magics to your face. And actually you can do, make your face to a sides. And if you have those more square jaw here, it will look beautiful, it will look gorgeous. You can go with your hair sleek with your hair on the back yeah. So it will just depends on those things. If your face is like more flat or your face. Is more volume and pronounced? We need to see your overall bone structure. We need to see your overall vibe how much flash or how much masculation you have in many cases it depends on that and if we talk about the very curly hair, let's say super curly smokers or wavier and stuff like that, the same situation we're creating lines Here so the outline of your hair that was naturally dried in case. You don't like to spend a lot of time for drawing drying your hair or ironing it and making it super straight. Like let's say you are a person who wants uh to spend as little time on your hair as possible, so you go to the shower. You go out, go out of the shower you. Let it dry, naturally how it is, and then you build the outline of your haircut after that it dried that natural way. You know some women look better if you cut it with the curl. Some women look better when you cut it out like when the curls would create that more tousled effect, but the outline is the key so that long diagonal line it doesn't matter if it's curly, rounded wavy, it's still longer diagonal line, it's still vertical diagonal line. So, if you're creating the overall outline of your hair of your face, that will look great. Thank you. So much for watching and i'll see you in my next one bye subscribe on my pinterest for 13 boards as an inspiration for the body types. Olive Papyrus: Aly has healed all my body insecurities and taught me to appreciate myself. I love you. Great stuff.

Jessica Robyns: I love that in your videos you never say that one way is "correct" or "wrong". You just explain why things look the way they do and then leave it up to us to decide what to do with that information. I think that's the way it should be because everyone has a different idea of what is beautiful.

Honey Valentina: This makes so much sense! I get why I always liked the look of bigger hair and long fringe on my face. Straight hair with no bangs just never looked good on me.

C Claudia: This makes a lot of sense as to why I get told I look best with my hair scraped back (I have a wide flat face) thanks Aly!

nana: Now i know why i look bad whenever i cut my hair above the chin. Everyone tells me i look good with short bob hair (chin length), but whenever i cut it above the chin, it's just not look flattering on me. Funny how it's just 2cm difference, but can change your whole look!

Hmm Hmmm: Its so hard finding hair for round faces! You look it up and its all ginnifer goodwin.

Unneighborly Arcades: I can attest to the fact that jaw-length hair is not the best option for square faces. At least, it wasn't the best for this square face. That was the worst stage of my pixie-grow-out. Other than that, I do think the proper hairstyle has more to do with your overall body-type and "vibe", as Aly has said. I think it's important to think about our ensemble as well. It's a mistake to think just about our faces when deciding hairstyles and haircuts because we aren't heads-in-jars.

Tamara Morton: Oh, my gosh, Aly. I haven’t been back here for a while. I’m struck with how completely *unsurpassed* you are online with sharing knowledge about hair, body types, just everything having to do with a person’s appearance. Amazing. Thank you.

ashley: I love how she makes me feel perfect in my own body.. someone said it on here, "there is no right or wrong"

Little Bean: Thank goodness, someone is covering round/ square flat Asian face. That’s me. Thank you.

Schehrzade: How are you SO helpful you’re the holy grail of beauty advice

Amy Funnell: I love this series! could you do long faces as well <3

Meghan Victoria: I make tons of videos about beauty for square faces and you’re videos are so fabulous and really give me some great inspiration ✨ thank you for your insight.

s a: Great video as always Aly! Your makeup looks amazing lately, can you please do a tutorial on how you are doing it. You look beautiful!!

Lisette Marie: THANK YOU for including curly hair types into this!! I have a square face & naturally curly hair, & I do not want to spend time ironing my hair every day I also can’t do bangs b/c if I did, I would have to straighten them all the time & I don’t want to deal with that. If I straighten my hair one day, the next day it’s already slightly wavy again. It’s annoying to upkeep & it will never look silky smooth like women who have naturally straight hair. Plus I love having curls & being different! Yes, I find that a side part looks best on me. I prefer long hair w/layers so my hair will dry curly & full.

Maineuser: I so love your videos, Aly. I’ve got lots to watch. So, don’t know if anyone has asked this question before. How do we know what difference a part makes? I’ve seen makeovers where the part was switched to an opposite side, and it made a world of difference. Is there a tip to understanding what’s going on that makes that so? A part seems such a very important element, when we’re thinking of ‘lines’ created with different ‘do’s’... You seem to have such a natural eye for design and color for us... Did you take special training? Thanks so much, Linda

Karina B: I loved the video, I just found it funny when she was talking about curly hair and she said "let's say you're a person who wants to spend as little time on your hair as possible, you go to the shower, you go out and you let your hair dry naturally" I was like whaaaat styling curly hair is one of the most time consuming things and if we don't do it our heads look like mops. Anyway, great video as always.

Sharon Cullen Art: Very interesting. I never thought about the side part giving a more horizontal feature. I never thought of that. But I have curly hair and I do style and finish after my hair is dry.

Eliss: Hey , I am watching you all of these years and you help me realise that nothing is ”law” and that made me feel better Can you suggest us what haircurts fit in small head in tall body?

Laysa Ferreira Silva: Funny how when I've cut a pixie cut lots of the girls were talking how that was MY HAIRCUT that it matched my vibe and all. However, my boyfriend (even saying he likes everything) he doesn't really think that in between stage of growth (from the pixie to a shoulder length) is very flattering on me. And I agree, I look much wider than I actually am, and it demands a lot of grooming. Now I get it

Kenisha Calder: This was excellent! Very informative. Thank you! Peace & Love

Klaudia Ziętek: I look so much better after watching your films about haircuts, makeup and clothes. Thank you!!!

Desi C: This was great! I can't wait for one on oblong faces. Happy Thanksgiving!

Melissa Hays: Your videos are always so helpful. I would love to see one with you talking about your current hair color and styling.

Julia Louise: I’d pay top dollar for Ally to give me a makeover

lovely A: I recently renewed my passport and was finally able to confirm I have a squared face shape My mom and sister have always recommended me I create volume on top of my head because I usually wear it long and straight with a slightly off center middle part. Now looking at my passport photo I can see it is not the most flattering hairstyle as it drags my face down a bit and elongates it. I will try to style and cut it differently to acommodate the square jaw better, thank you for this video Aly!!!

Vintage Kitty: Great video! No one believes me when I say I CANNOT have short hair like at 2:26. I have a very big, square face and very prominent shoulders. I absolutely need hair to balance all that out. Thank you for confirming this, I don't like that so many people around me will not be honest and give me true feedback.

Christy Woods: This was really good one Ally!I had a round face and A humped nose from being broken but not wide nose.,Big Eyes ,but deepset and hooded a bit.But I have Superlong hair down to my butt.I had my thyroid taken out a few yrs ago and it isnt as thick and beautiful as it was cuz sometimes my leveks get off, but I try.Its so thin at the bottom now. It's for a haircut,And Im going with A-symetricak bob.I have had them before but very high and stacked in the back and they come down to a sleek cool point in front. HOPE THIS NEW GIRL IS GOOD!LOL.I usualky havethe smae stylist but Shes on vacation.lol

Gilmore Girl: Your hair looks great with a deep side parting! 6:38

Amelia Campos: Love your videos, you are the true sense of an artist.

A S: honestly i feel like you have to really mess up your look to know what suits your particular round face. I've had the chunkiest, widest and most unflattering bangs for about a year until they finally grew past my cheek bones. By seeing how much wider it made me look, i understood exactly what was wrong. If you decide to cut bangs, MAKE THEM WISPY/AIRY - don't cut a lot, don't make the width go past your brow arch, don't make them even the slightest bit heavy and i personally think that round faces look better WITHOUT side pieces unless they're past the chin :)

Katie: Aly, you're a beauty genius. Thank youuu

Marianne Scarfe: I adore how body positive you are xx

DeeDee SeeCee: I have a square jawline, high cheekbones, small nose, full lips and large wide set eyes and every time I've ever had my hair done in a salon the hairstylist covers up my face with all my thick hair. I have never been able to figure this out until this video where you said many people try to hide a square jaw with hair covering the face. I can only guess that cosmetology schools teach hairdressers that a square jaw on a woman should be hidden?

Aurora Gold: This is perfect!! Jenna Coleman as an example confirms that this might work the best for me as my sister looks like her owo

Yo Sal: This video was made for me!! Thank you

common killjoy: Needed this since I have a rounder face (romantic body type)

Nicole McLennan: Amazing waiting for the oval but everyone says oval face shape can pull everything off. I am definitely not convinced of this

Megz Pittle: Just found you! Your vision crafting is incredible in the way you approach! Thank you for sharing

Sabīne Ostrovska: What kind of hairstyles do you suggest for long, thin necks + small, oval faces + big cheeks?

Araya: So so helpful! So if you are a round faced girl go with more volume on top (with the recommended cut video) and add vertical diagonal with longer bangs. If I have long hair with layers, where do you recommend layers starting because I noticed the place where it starts makes the face very wide at that part. I experimented a bit and I am unable to understand what to do with the rest of the hair at the back, for reference I have naturally wavy hair type. Thanks!!

시린: It’s tough when your jaw is asymmetrical and it’s obvious

Elizabeth Arcos: do you think curtain bangs suit round face shapes?

BrightBlue: is it possible to have a primary and secondary face shape? my primary face shape is diamond, like very strong diamond, but I also have a prominent, square jaw line. not sure if you've ever discussed this in one of your videos.

Marjia: I have a flat square face with strong jawline.. I always go with wavy side swept step layer hair cut. I always wanted bangs but it doesn't look good on me. I don't have much options :-(

Ally T: Aly, I beg you, if you see this... Please make a video for pear faces. We exist. Don't forget about us. Thank you

Di :3: I have learned to love my features thanks to Aly but I still hate my side profile. I have flat af features and how I wish I had a prominent nose and jaw-chin

lucy-ferprofiler: hi Aly, can you make a video on hair parting !!! I would love to hear you take on this topic !!! Hug from Paris

tonkacat: I'm waiting for the wretched oblong face. I need the few options I can get!

Camila Schwarz: Hi! I would like to know how to avoid hair flipping at the end, to make it look sleek as yours.

Lucy B: I'm so lucky! You just did a wide face video now you're going round/square faces. Both me

Jan Rance: Thank you for this video very informative. But I want to ask what if your nose is flat and have chubby cheeks and with asymmetrical face?

Wannabe 1 Me: I have a square face it looks weird because my jawline is strong But when I cut my hair short it looked good, but now it’s growing

J: Just about to get a haircut perfect timing!

Wen: Look at Angelina Jolie as example! I have square face somewhat rounded. I like slicking my hair backwards it makes me look more sculpted because covering my side face makes my face puffy. And I always stick to layered haircut.

Ovi Singh: I have a square jawline and I thought it was a problem but thanks for changing my mind.

xPlatybelodon: So the length of side bangs can be an inch below the chin or even above as long as there's a vertical line shaping the face? I wonder though if too much shaping under the chin will make that lower half heavier because if the volume in the lower half of the face?

Grace Love: Great vid and informative.

Naru Lind: Thanks! But I was also waiting Te pixie cut. However it's a great video!

beesimple: What hairstyles will be suitable for a woman who have a face shape like Angelina Jolie?

Sukanya Phookan: Hi Aly, I love your videos. I have 2 hsi whorls. One in the normal place and the other just above my forehead. It is really difficult to style or have bangs. Please suggest something.

Rosy X: Yesss, this upload just made Thanksgiving even better

Hannah Fanning: Pleassseee do a vid on the diamond face shape!

Mauve: I Feel like it’d be so cool to have something interesting about my face like a rlly striking feature or a particular thing that was just wow or cool. I’m not unbelievably ugly but everything is just average and boring nothing stands out

Dawn McFarland: I have a square face, my body type is overweight Theatrical Romantic and my hair is pin straight and extremely fine and thin like toddler hair with zero volume. I feel like I’m a lost cause. Even when I went through a phase of being obsessed with diet and exercise and lost a ton of weight my fine, thin, lifeless hair was even thinner and just looked all wrong on my still very TR body. :(

B Das: So nice way of describing ❤️

B Das: So nice way of describing ❤️

Alice R: I LOVE your videos!

Tari Tangeo: Your videos mever stop being precious source of knowledge. Not a fan of complimenting part but I guess a lot of women really enjoy it.

la la: i love your hair it sweets you so well! please what's the reference for the color??

Elif Konar: As a teen ı am learng loving my diffrences from you ❤️

Sandra Meza: Girl! What about an elongated woman's face that has gotten chubby on the cheecks and a double chin?

Sherlyn Fernandes: I see this woman knows what's going on in my mind

Trang Square: My grumpy big square face makes me feel a bit disappointed whenever I have a new haircut :( I currently have a bob with curtain bang and it looks fine, but I wanna try a kpop haircut such as Jungkook's

Jan Rance: Can you make video for people with asymmetrical face and jaw . It's really hard to pic a hairstyle for it.

Courtney Goodmuth: people say my face is oval but when i smile with my teeth my face turns squatty and very square. my whole face changes. its not very flattering and i wish i knew what look would best eliminate that when i smile.

Valentina Furlan: But... How Beautiful you aaaaareeeeeeee!!!!! Love that platinum, love that sweater, love those glasses!!! P.s. Super video (no need to say). Love ya ❤️

Lilith Haile: i swear just on time i luv u so much and i realy luv ur youtube videos u help us a lot

Nikitty Kawaii: You are an absolute genuine

a28: I love this channel

Laura Forconi: You are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shoshiye L: THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH MY FACE SHAPE IS NOT ROUND AND NOT SQUARE IN THE MIDDLE

MARY AUXSILIYA A: Mam I am confusing oval and round face shall you please clear my query please...

Addie Pensec: Its sad when you have a round and square head shape

Mimoza: I love All of you glasses. Do you have a name for them. I also uses glasses, and i would like to buy the same as yours. Thank you

zitao: What about diamond face?

Humanimal: First woohoo And now to learn my rectangular face has the wrong hairdo!

Anjali K Biji: I just got a haircut done.. I have rpund face but not 100% round.. It's slightly a bit longer.. And a bit fat face.. My hair is curly and thick.. I did neck length layered cut.. Now it doesn't look good.. My face looks even bigger.. I want a tomboyish look.. could you help me out?

Lubriant Playz: I have a square face and my jaw is HARD asf but that’s not my main issue,, my main issue is that my jaw is curved like it’s not a sharp V line,, it’s more of a curvy V line like wtf it looks weird

tina tuna: i have round face- flat cheekbones and a weak chin. basically all “worst features” nothing looks good on me and did i mention i’m extremely asymmetrical

b. Aa:

phoebe buffay: I looove proeminent features

Waziha Nokshi: Flat face here..... I want to add volume to my face...

Cherry Blossom: I will not cut bangs again ever
