How to make straight hair wavy, i'm going to be showing you a couple of hair tips and techniques on how to achieve somewhat of a wave in your hair, especially if it's completely straight, and i get a lot of people asking me steven, her salon guy. How do i make my make my straight hair wavy? Firstly, it comes down to the haircut if you don't have a proper haircut or if your hair type is just very, very heavy, very, very pin straight, very, very thick hair. It'S still possible, but it just may be more of a challenge and you have to do a little more work to it. So here are two really cool techniques that you can do that aren't a chemical process if you are looking for more of a permanent type process. Watch my video on perming hair and let's get started so. Firstly, what you want to do is you want to spray? The hair, with some sort of styling spray that has a little bit of hold, so i just used my tidal wave, which is my number one selling product right now, which is totally spiked um. I do have travel sizes available as well. Two ounce travel sizes, which is really really cool so now that i've got some product in the hair. It'S time to start working on sectioning, i'm taking a section of hair, a relatively smaller section, i'd say like an inch or so in diameter or inch and a half as far as the thickness of it get all that hair out of the way, except for the One section you have make sure that the hair is at least damp, so i'm going to go back in with a little bit of water. So if you just came out of the shower, this is totally totally fine. I'M going to spray a little bit two pumps of tidal wave. Now what you want to do is you could this is the first technique? Is i'm twisting like this? I'M twisting the hair again you see how long this hair is. So you got to make sure you have some length in the hair in order to achieve this type of look or wave. Can you do it on shorter hair? Yes, you can. It just may be a little bit more difficult, but you will get some sort of movement regardless. So now that i have the section twisted, i'm taking my blow dryer like this, i'm going to use normal speed, normal heat and i'm just going to go up and down on the section with the blow dryer like so all right now, if you noticed when i Was doing this, i wasn't just holding the nozzle in one area because that's how you're going to damage or singe the hair? Instead, i was traveling up and down with the air traveling towards the end of this. If the blow dryer was pointed down this way and the air was pushing down, it would create a lot of frizz, but instead i had the air in the direction of how i was blow drying, which is up. Let'S put the dryer down for a second and now what you could do is you could actually leave this, which i would do so you're almost like setting the hair. I would leave this section and continue to do more pieces, but what's going to happen now is if you unwind this and kind of run, your fingers through a little bit look what's happening, we're creating a little bit of a wave right into here. Let'S undo this here and there you go it actually is. It looks almost even curly to an extent um and look at that see so you've got a little bit of of wave. Now, let's turn the head, so you can see get this other hair out of the way and it's a real, simple kind of technique, a real, real, simple process. If you're looking to just create any sort of body or texture in the hair. To give it a little more movement, all right like, as you can see in through here, alright another technique right same thing: let's take a relatively smaller section here, maybe again about an inch no more than that thick in diameter, and what we're going to do is We'Re going to create a pin curl - and i've mentioned this in other videos in the past, but this is a really really great technique that you can use, and this really does set the hair. So what you're going to need are these little things here called pin? Curl clips on my amazon store page below my affiliate page, there's a link that will direct you. If you click on the link, it has all my hair tools that i actually use from amazon, which is really really helpful, so once again make sure that the hair is damp at least doesn't have to be soaking wet. No, can you do this on fully dry hair? You can all right. We'Ve got the tidal wave in from the previous section. Now. What i'm going to do is i'm going to take one finger. You can use two fingers depending on how long the hair is, and i'm going to start to create a circular section around the hem wrapping the hair around my finger, i'm holding on to the pieces together like this and we've created a little bit of a pin. Curl right into here, so then what you do is you take the clip and you're going to pin it right on the base of the section like that, and here is what we've created. As you can see. I just want to make sure you have a clear view of what this looks like even get up a little bit closer, so a pin curl is designed to give the hair even uh a tighter or more of a wavier section. You can let it air dry. You can do your whole head like this and then come back and then take them out, or we can just hit it with the dryer like this. So you then want to just hold the section like this and you're going to take the the clip out and look what we have here. So you can then take the section and you can pull down on the section like that and, as you can see, we've created a little bit of volume, a little bit of texture and a very, very slight kind of wave to the hair like this again. This is for somebody who wants a little more of a bounce, a little more of like a textured wave on the ends or a little bit of a curl, so the both techniques work great. So, by running the finger, your fingers through the hair, as you can see, what's happening, is you're just getting a little more, a little more bend a little more body and a slight wave and texture to the hair. This works great for people who have very, very straight hair all right. This is why i'm showing these techniques, because it's going to help you achieve the look you're going for you - can do the whole head like this or just areas that, if you're looking for a little more texture and volume and wave in some parts, uh, maybe more In the front than compared to the back, for example, then you can basically put the waves or the sections wherever you want them. So let me know in the comments below, if you found this video helpful, there's so many techniques, you can use a curling iron. You can use a wand, i mean there's a lot of things you can do, but i want to show you two quick, easy ones that may be a lifesaver for you guys so stay safe and healthy. Thank you guys. So much for watching. Don'T forget to like comment and subscribe and i'll see you next time for more videos with asana

Your mom: You know he’s professional when he’s bald

CRF Films: He guides those to a treasure that he cannot claim himself

felix: it's a pain having a straight hair when you're not even straight yourself.

DoverDell: I have a tip! My hairs grown out since the pandemic began and I started tying it up to sleep so that it would be out of my face. After a night when I twisted it at the very top and twisted it into a bun when I woke up it was very wavy. You just have to run your fingers through it for a bit and it’ll look natural.

Dom ABT54R: the pillow is the scret.. I move all over the bed and wake up in the morning with lots of waves and volume

AshVlogz _: The doll thing already had wavy hair... my hair is straighter than a pencil

Duke Douglas: So i want to grow out my hair but I'm lacking motivation. For every like this gets is a day I don't cut it

sibbo: If i had salon guy like a barber my life whould be perfect

Bhima Waskita: Man, that mannequin have my dream hair style. I cant believe im jealous to non-living thing.

Frog in Chair: As a teenager who is locked up in my room due to the pandemic, I've decided to explore the extent of my hair since I was never able to grow it out, yeah school rules. After atleast few months into the pandemic I've started getting waves on my top hair and few months later the sides started to go with the flow, but the back part of my hair which is same length as my side hair remains flat and straight. I often become conscious about what people think when they see my wavy top and side hair paired with my back hair which is as flat as a board. I've even made up my mind to just go back to the student cut, but the time I've spent won't comeback as this only opportunity might only come once in my life. I've put into consideration the fact that my previous haircuts are mainly focused on the clean look where the top part remains and the back and lower sides are shaved off... Few more months later, my top hair grew to the point that it started to overlap the flat straight back hair, my top hair started to influence the flow of my back hair and I'm starting to see a glimmer of hope. The bottom part of my back hair still remains a flat and straight and so I sought this video, Thank you my guy, you have given me ideas that will help normalize this weird hair of mine. Hair finds it own ways, but sometimes it asks for directions

Day with Ines: Thank you so much! This truly works! As a person with straight hair who has wanted wavy/curly hair for years this is truly a blessing! :)

Becky Gregg: The second one is good for thin hair. My mom was an expert of setting her hair but she used Bobbie pins and layed them flat on the head.

Christian ‘: My hair used to be super straight when it was shorter. Ever since I let it grow out the top is wavy and the sides are curly. Could something in my body have changed making my hair type change?

a m: My hair is literally exactly the same as the thumbnail(length and texture). I would say its 2A or 2B. It's pretty much perfect hair texture because I can brush and blow dry for straight hair and scrunch it/diffuse it for curlier hair. Usually I just leave my hair slightly wavy.

Nicholas francisco del Moral fernandez: I always use your hairtips in my rutine and this one is in my list You are an Amazing hairdresser

[C] olosuss: Been growing my hair since January and it's looks like I'm wearing helmet 24/7.

Josh -: thx so much this literally gave me the exact result I wanted. v easy to do and only took me about half an hour, it was my first time using a hairdryer to like help style my hair so I imagine someone who's better at using a hairdryer could so this in like 20 minutes

Negro Pistola: Since I was a kid, I always had straight hair, but when I was 13, the hair that grew on my neck grew as curly hair, and the rest of my head had wavy hair. As I hit 15, the hair on the top of my head got from wavy to curly as well, so I decided to get a Mullet. Since then, I now just have wavy-curly hair

Mia H: I've been looking for this for so long. I have bone straight hair that hates staying curled this is perfect

Rico’s Kickzz: I get out the shower and air dry my hair because the blow dryer always flattens my hair. I air dry and my hair gets wavy naturally but with these tips I can get sections of hair wavy without putting chemicals on my hair (perm). thank you salon guy

I like Chicken: That doll had wavy hair and my hair is straighter than my sexuality.

Scared Folks: Thanks I have pin straight hair (even more straight day of a wash) and it's so hard to keep it long, it parts in the middle and then falls to the sides, it's hard to keep it slicked back for a bun. I hope some of this stuff helps I am about to give up with long hair but I've gone 2 years without cutting and I probably just need to get it cut/styled better seeing it's all the same length (I started growing it out when my hair was all the same length).

Joe Public: For those with flat hair, using a vinegar rinse makes a huge difference. No one could fake my hair. However, using a sulfate free shampoo and doing a vinegar rinse will help. The vinegar is diluted, the shampoo is thoroughly rinsed and no conditioners, and no oils. Weighs the hair down. Wash with cool water, not hot. Hot water causes frizz. Remember your hair stays where it dries. Shampoo is first, then rinse, then vinegar rinse making sure to rub it in and make sure it rinses all of your hair. Then rinse with water a second time. No conditioner. Don't blow dry your hair, roll it in curlers, cover with a scarf and sleep on it. Get up, remover curlers, tada......... curls.

Ringo Lennon: New or next video idea: how can I train my wavy hair to go in a specific direction? My hair is naturally thick and usually I just slick it back when I get out of the shower and let it air dry. It naturally will dry and get wavy on its own, but when I get a buzz(thanks dad) about 4 months into growing it back out it just does what it wants. I’m sure a form of pomade could help

irfan saleem: My favourite hair style of all time. Growing mine back after 6 years of shorter styles,

AnoxelX: how long does the hair stay wavy after the process ?

Eddy: To those who are saying that the mannequin is already wavy: My hair is thick, incredibly straight, heavy, and this works perfectly, though it is a bit more time consuming than this video. But, it is possible. It doesn't re-straighten easily, mines lasted from morning up to when I showered just before midnight

Solyd: I swear this guy reads my mind..

Morgan T: This is actually really useful, I kinda had this more of some background noise, but this what I want to do with my hair. Thanks.

PLEK: when i can figure out how to be my own barber, photographer, and best friend it’s over for everyone

chuck Adjie: Thanks so much for the tips.. It truly made my hair wavy..

Iglesia ni Chris Tiu: He teaches something he doesn't posses. What a hero!

Maddox Sinclair: This was actually very helpful

Unknown Arsenal: I always find his videos satisfying to watch and very helpful

Manuel: And I am here.. complaining about my wavy C1 type hair, wanting to be straight... I guess everyone wants what they don't have... lol.

Babs: I’m here because my boyfriend wants to do hair styles and tricks, and like me, his hair is pin straight, so I can relate on not knowing how to get certain types of volumes. He literally begged me to teach him hair things, so I have to learn how to style shorter hair than mine

Drake X: Keep the Jon B mannequin vids comin! I love these videos and a lot of other people who are subscribed are looking to achieve this hairstyle could you please make more videos on this hair in the future? (yes ive watched all the previous videos)

Ted Mosby: This is super helpful especially that pin one gonna try that one out tomorrow cheers

Deepanshu Rawat: just watch it in reverse to learn how to make your wavy hair straight

Charlie Cooke: Damn thanks bro this really helped

Randomness?!: Hey! Can you do a recap on the do’s and don’t s on over-processed hair...I’ve recently just relaxed my hair but I may have used a lot of it and now it’s chemicals burnt to the point where it’s easy to pull off at the ends but still strong on top, pls help us for future reference

Featherflew: My hair is naturally like this and it's a pain in the ass to style cause of the waves. Can't imagine why anyone would want to have wavy hair when it is so bothersome

HELL.PRODUCTIONS: Im growing out my hair and guess what my hair a straight but hope this will work as your tips always work

Ad Reeves: My hair is pin straight, thick but no texture whatsoever. I use a spray in conditioner (aussie conditioning mist) shortly before going to bed. When I wake up it's a mess, but I can tame it down and keep a lot of the texture and waves throughout the day.

Raymond Chat1: The Salon Guy... no hair! BTW, amazing content you're making! I just now discovered you, and I'm getting ready to binge watch your channel.

Jared Dangiory Ángel Méndez: Hey bro, could you do the hairstyle of Devon Bostick in the movie: "the diary of a wimpy kid, Rodrick rules" ??? I really appreciate it, i want to do it in my hair but i can't find the style and i know you are the best.

Gothel: Can you do how to make my parents love me next? Thanks, I loved this video and it was really helpful!

That one guy who mains Zofia.: I trust this guy with every single fiber of my hair

Pluto: if you get the time, can you do a tutorial on the hairstyle of the character Bullet from the show The Killing? appreciate it ^-^ love your channel and your content

Came Roar: My hair is semi flat and wavy at the same time, because when i take a bath it's super straight afterwards it will look like a spaghetti noodles. So i always wear a cap when i have to go outside so i won't look like a guy who just woke up.

David Bleha: Very helpful sir, thank u ♥️

Killua Zoldyck: How long does the curl last?

Mr White: Bro you literally make videos I need answers for, thank you !

Baljeetus Deletus: for how long will the wavyness last?

Addis videos like and subscribe now: Omg this worked I’m so apprising thanks I’m going to do this everyday

Gloria Poppy: I allways kept my hair short . Ive been growing it for about 7 months now and it's getting pretty long . I discovered i got wavy hair and don't really like it but seems alot of guys are trying to get theirs like my own

Plague King: Lord Falix: This is just how my hair grows when I let it get longer.

Roberto Rodriguez: I was about to get a perm because I didn’t know I had wavey/curly hair till I let it grow out and yesterday I was chilling just playing with my hair and I accidentally coiled it and I didn’t know my hair can coil so now I’m trying to look for a vid to help me cool my hair if anyone has any suggestions

Vlad Lucius: My hair is naturally wavy I feel blessed ☺️

Daggit: Hey TheSalonGuy, I am trying to get the flow haircut that the baseball players have. How long does your hair have to be to start it?

Im _TheSUBII3 • 25 years ago: For me, wavy hair is kind of a nightmare for me, I resorted to the man bun because of how ridiculous it looks on me.

Edward Masters: man ive been getting stringy hair cuz its all nipple long and fine, barely trimmed in 3 years so hope this works for me then again my shampoo has conditioner in it so bet that doesn help

K Ng: I tried the twisting method and now I look like Travis Scott.

Zinjo: Not sure if you still answer on old videos but in the first method how many "tails" should I expect to make? I ended up with about six and after letting them out saw little to no difference

jaguaresed: Nice tip steven, good thing i have wavy hair naturally and dont have to do all of that haha

Erin Kara: When we use spray how many times do we have to do this process again(first one)

henan li: wow great tips now i dont have to perm it and i dont have to get all those nasty cemicals with your great tips thanks

Brian: For the pincurl method, do you have to do it everyday?? Or does it just kind of depend on your hair?

S.Hayder: I have ultimate straight long hair now (1year+ growth) need to get my haircut almost same like this mannequin then I'm gonna try these two tricks to give my hair wavy look!

goosepumps rodriguez: damm bro thanks my hairs like 7 inches really helped me out i tried braiding my hair but it dont work as much

jaguaresed: That mannequin had perfect wavy hair before doing all the blow drying stuff haha but cool video

VITTXRIO: As a guy with wavy hair, I'd say it's both a curse and a gift.

kevin pineda: Alright so from personal experience if you’re trying to get wavy hair with straight hair just don’t. It doesn’t work and you’ll just regret wasting your time

Elijah Buchanan: He’s helping us achieve what he can’t have

janska: Sooo could I make these swirls and use a flat iron on them? Or would it be to damaging?

Sentilong P.Imsong: Learning about hairstyle from a bald guy... anyways always learning something new from you man...✊✊✊....

Dim Light: Very beautiful technique

RafaDoesPiano: My hair is like wavy on the bangs but then straight in the back, so it’s pretty weird

Ferret needs sleep: Hi! I love your videos and I was wondering if you *need* to use the styling spray stuff. Because I don’t have anything like that. I mean I have hairspray but idk

Aj Bewley: I’ve always thought my hair was straight but it’s wavy

camzilla_does_music: It kinda makes you feel better about your hair when you have the hair that people want

Pro Warrior: This is really a great and helpful video, BTW can u pls tell me what kind of hair type is that thin, thick or fine bc I'm really confused about it. Also I'm having the same set of hair so it'll be really helpful!

Palmer King: When he said you can’t really have thick hair I crumbled to pieces. I swear every hairdresser I’ve gone to has said my hair is the thickets hair they e ever had :(

toad vevo: hey, i know this is an old video but can you try doing a tutorial on neil smith's hair from the band peach pit? i like his hair style and would love to try and re-create it on my own hair. please and thank you :)

King -Ryche: The trick is also not to use shampoo everyday and slicking back the hair in the shower

xoxo_cl0vr: So yeah I sent a pic of this hair to my mum and said “I want this hair do” so now I have poffy hair thanks :)

Mick Royster: My hair is too thick to have the wavy hairstyles even though it wavy. It’s thicker than like everyone I know it holds and doesn’t flow
