About this video: the idea of naming those types 0, -1, -2. +1, +2 is not mine.

I got it from one Ukranian stylist. His name is Roman Medny. (He's also on YouTube - for some of you who understands Russian language.) So he is also the one from whom I heard about Kibbe Body Types some years ago. So I was thinking about those types of contrast a lot and decided to make a big scale with women from all over the world and analyse them from that viewpoint. Also I cleared the definition, and decided to be more specific based on the definition. It's not perfect, there's no science to it. I'm sure in some time I will re-think some of them and maybe will be more specific. It all is pretty new for me too. That's how I do my researches - while editing my videos aahhaha. Anyway hope you enjoy ))) And don't take it too seriously. Let's just play the game!

Hi guys so today, I'm gon na talk about. Would you look good with black or dark hair? To answer that question, we have to know some additional information about coloring, so I recommend you to watch for my videos before so. First of all, five types of contrast, then we talked about the temperature, I a cool, warm and that scale. Then we talked about how is soft or clear in coloration again talking about your contrast level, and then we talked about eye color. If it also check that video, it was my last video, so it would all be much clearer for you today so dark hair or black hair. It'S pretty big generalization because they can be several types of black hair. There can be several types of dark brown, hair, black hair with blueish undertone to it, blue black silver shine to it. Some of them can be very, very, very dark brown. Some of them are slightly on a warmer side, there's still a very intense, very black, but slightly on a warmer side. Now they can be dark brown hair, which has some reddish reflection of the light on the surface, and also they can be off black hair yeah. It looks black and it looks pretty cool, but it's slightly ashy. It'S not as intense looks a bit more dull and it reflects a little bit more light. Of course, it would be stupid now to talk about women who already have black hair from nature. If they would look good with blond hair, that's another question: I have a video about that too, so you can check that, but still we're gon na talk today about all the colorations all the contrast levels of women from very small amount of contrast to the very High contrasted, ladies also when I was researching on that subject and I was looking on so many different pictures. It was a little bit harder to spot because when I talked about blond hair color, it's kind of obvious that person just colored her hair blond. It'S pretty rare when somebody has naturally platinum blonde hair in the street or, like they're, light bright yellow. So you kind of can't predict that she used some kind of a bleaching products for a year, but in this case in case of black hair and dark brown hair, it was pretty hard for me to spot. So I checked loads of pictures like before and after she was black. She was blonde before we go to your particular coloration. Let me first explain some general rules about black hair. First of all, black hair black color is very intense. It absorbs light, it's pretty rich. It'S pretty saturated, it's pretty clear, color, it's very from the distance. It'S not complicated, it doesn't have any highlights lowlights, it doesn't have any shadows or light spots from the distance. On any background, it just looks like one separate piece. So when we talk about women who don't have any black hair on their body, just in general, for them, it will be a little bit harder to wear that very dark black color on there buddy, because normally we went with a very black hair and dark hair. They have first of all, dr. Harrell, on their face and on their body in general. That hair is slightly thicker blonde hair, they're, normally thinner just by nature and black hair is pretty thick. Not always I've seen some soft dark brown hair, but still they look thicker and they are thicker and also the brows. If we talk about the brows, if you talk about the lashes all that matters and all that we can't perceive when looking at the person who colored her hair, if all the hair on her body is very thin and very light and blond, then if she colors Her hair black that's a lot of work. If this work can be done in the first place, are we gon na go to that later? That is one myth that I hear from time to time, and I think it's myth. They say that black hair slaves down your face and delight hair whitens your face not really so, unless you're making picture of yourself and unless your hair is right here by your face and unless it's not lying on your face, but has some space between your cheek And between the hair, so what happens in this case? If you have black hair here, it just doesn't reflect light on your cheek they're inside. So your cheek looks darker, it's kind of like contouring powder. If we can say so, it's just natural shadow, but it only if you have those lights certain light shining on you, you have that certain position of the hair by your face. So this way it can create some shadows on sides of your face. But as far as in real life, you're always moving you're walking your hair can weather lie on your cheeks like that, then we won't just give that effect at home or it can be just beyond the back or it can move. Then you lose. This effect same with white hair or light hair, it reflects light, especially if you're, outside and they're lying here by your face light reflects from your light hair to the cheek. So you don't have those shadows on your face here so that part of your face is slightly lightened. But again, if we talk about stiff situation about pictures and stuff in real life, it's pretty rare when you can catch this moment. So I think it's not that a black Slim's down your face. I think it just shows your real outline of your face. That'S all it does if your face is lighter than this black color. If your skin is even a little bit slightly lighter than this black, it will just show you real shape of your face, because it's a contrasted color, it will work as a frame and if you have light hair, it's not that it whitens your face. It basically washes off the outline of your face. It becomes uneven, uncertain and especially from different angles. The light is moving. You are moving it slightly harder to spot. It'S just the attention doesn't go in there, so your face is not necessarily becoming wider or slimmer. It'S just less visible. It'S a little bit more washed off, it's kind of blended, it's kind of blurred, another thing that black hair color does or very dark hair color. Does it can't put some attention on the shadows on your face and if your face has prominent bones, prominent cheekbones prominent features, so the eyes can compare that dark color with a dark color of your shadows of your face, as opposed to lighter areas on your face? Is it good or bad? It depends. You can watch this video hair color for the body types. We talked about bone structure in there we talked about the body types. We talked about how bull structure and color interacts, because for some women they would look very sick and tired if they don't have those shadows on their face, supported by intense hair, color and some women in contrary, they look just softer just better if their hair color Is slightly softer slightly highlighted and not as contrasted it doesn't emphasize those shadows on the face and then contrary makes them softer and reflects light more of their face. They just look more harmonized, but that is another subject. Also another thing: if any skin color has some graciousness or Asha nuts in their skin, especially there's a lot of astronauts, then real black color jet-black it can interact with those Gray's see people's eyes are looking for similarities. They'Re, comparing things I'll show you the example. Look in this picture, what do you see? Did you see that blue color? Of course you did? The everything else was pretty much same color, but those two accents one object and another object were same color. You notice that your eyes compare those objects very fast and it found that they match and our eyes are even trying to match even more if those colors on identical there close our eyes still we'll try to match them to find how they are matching same with Our complexion - let's say if she has that graciousness in her skin, then other people's eyes when they're looking at her, they try to find same similarities, same tone in their skin and what they find there. They find creationists. So the graciousness is coming forward slightly, so they can look slightly ashiya than they are, especially when black color and dark brown color. It'S very intense, it's very bright and clear, and sometimes with that brightness that creationists can show off more earthiness. It can emphasize sometimes under-eye circles again for sometimes for some women, or maybe some women can have some olive nests on the skin. So their face can look slightly Grey's green next. To that very intense black color so always check that another fact, which is very important. Everything next to black color becomes more ashy, less, contrasted more muted, more discolored, dusty and dull. As a contrast again, you have to keep that in mind when you analyze your coloration, so you would know what would you look like next to very rich black color? Another important thing as far as black color pure black color consider this to be on a cooler side on more clear than on the darker side. It will be least flattering on women, with opposite coloration, on light warm and on ashy women. If she's light warm and ashy her conscious level is so low because everything is very light in her complexion. So, let's just compare it very fast, so here I'm place in the pictures of ladies who are light warm and soft, and here we place the ladies who are cool and clear so as far as these ones are opposite to these ones, and they have same description As black color, basically black colours also cool clear. They are also cool clear. So these ladies, this color will work. Also important thing here is we're not talking about the costume thing, we're not talking about the wigs heavy, having makeup presenting a certain image. Let'S say you are doing photo session, you can definitely fake it to the point, so you would look. Even if you are the lightest and the warmest you would look amazing with black hair. It can be done with clothes and with right makeup. I'M mostly talking about the women who just want to look great in their everyday life who want to find their signature. Look who want to have the effortless beauty every day in the morning. So if we talk about that, then we really have to consider of how much effort we have to spend every week every two weeks or even every day, in order to support that new hair color that is so bright that is so cool, so intense and so Dark there can be lighter black colors, with some warmth to it. Sometimes that can be the answer. Some women they just don't look very good with that very intense black hair, but as soon as they make it slightly lighter just Brown just a bit warmer just slightly, then their skin changes their eyes changes. You know now, let's go to unconscious scale. First, let's talk about the least conscious of women, to contrast, meaning they have very light ice light, skin light, hair. Naturally, starting from albinos just pale complexion, women. They have a lot of white color added to them, and we talked about that in my eye. Soft a bright video, so they have a lot of white color. They even don't have as much great color in their coloring there's just a lot of light, color and pale colors. The very pale yellows, very pale blues and very pale Pink's. Their brows and their lashes are normally so light or they're, so thin, they're, like feathers, if they Conner their brows. Let'S say if they die their brows, with permanent hair, color special for brows and for lashes. That can look slightly better. But then, every week more and more of those hair will fall off and new ones start growing. It starts looking super fat. You have to always do that. Also, that hair is gon na be very, very thin, almost transparent and the overall complexion is there light and transparent. Their eyes are normally not very conscious. They don't have that bright. Color, dark hair is bright color and they don't have bright, color they're all bleached, especially if they have very little amount of hair here it will be very hard to fake, especially when women are just doing makeup on their brows if they cover their Brow's completely. With brow pomade or something like that, so if they cover that completely, that is very visible, it looks super heavy on their delicate face as if there's just two black stones or two black bricks, it looks very heavy on their face their face in their skin. Everything is slightly transparent, the compiler is looking through. They look slightly glossy, so in real life it can be slightly hard, even if they make their brows darker and their lashes darker. That still can be not enough, because their overall appearance will be very pale and very bleached. They might look seeking that or they might look like they're wearing a weak, especially if they have freckles. You know freckles and black haired is something that doesn't match in there. Unless you're doing that special photo set, or you want to go intentionally for that look. But if you want to go for a natural look as if it's supposed to be that way, and you just wearing that black color you, it became a brunette that cannot match. If we talk about one conscious level, except for white color, they already have some gray color or just some color added to them some more beiges, some more ashiness, some more oranges, maybe some more blues clearer blues. So they are slightly darker they're. Still on a lighter side, but it's kind of like white and grey together. So as far as they already have darker coloration. Here we can see how much hair they have on their face at the first place in general, it's still pretty hard to make black hair or their intense dark hair match them, because I will show you why, but before I want to show you one example when That did work, and that is cara delevingne. When I checked her childhood pictures she's closer to natural blonde, not only in the childhood when she got older, she also had that really light as she blonde her brows are actually not as dark they're just boo. She she just has a lot of hair in her brows. She dyed her brows black color, the hair on her brow started looking very thick and very intense, so she could really fake that black hair when she was trying that wig. You could sometimes even think that she probably has the bright hair dark hair, naturally, just because of those features she has mascara that sometimes can be enough to think dark lashes right. So you see she really has that slightly stronger thing going on in here, so that black hair doesn't look too heavy on her. However, it's pretty, I would say that in Geordie case, especially for women who has very soft and warm complexion in that category of contrast, they probably have greenish eyes. Their complexion is slightly yellowish, with some gray to it and some white to eat. That is totally opposite to black color, so they can end up having that LV look. So look at those pictures they on the lighter side right, so they look lighter in general, their lashes and their brows, especially their brows. It seems like it's very easy to do, but you know it's like yeah, I color my hair yeah. I become a brunette. They I will just add a little bit more color on my brows. It'S not always working that way because to make brows look really natural. If you're changing their color completely again, you have to dye them every week or two. So it would not look that G. If you want that natural look, because if you have light hair on your brows and you use dark brown products, they gon na. Look very unnatural and as if you are just drawing them, and in some cases, if you have oily skin, that color will reflect, like is, if you have bold brows here and you're, just adding them with the solid color. Even sometimes micro bleeding doesn't help as much because the overall complexion can be pretty delicate again, especially with those greener eyes. Ladies because black color is still in a cooler side, it cools them down, but everything else is kind of warmed, up light and warmed up now. If we talk about zero contrast, ladies, they already have more color in them. They normally have whether a lot of gray to them or a lot of bright colors like bright red, bright blue on the eyes, something like that women with clearer coloration, especially if their cool tone they can try to fake that again need to see sometimes their eye. Color is still not as intense it's still pretty unconscious today, mighty pretty uncertain so sometimes lack hair will remove completely her face in Russia. There are loads of women with zero contrast, and there are many of them who have very ashy complexion, mousy hair, for example, brown plus gray, some muddy eyes, hazel, eyes, gray, eyes, something dusting, something not certain. Maybe some fashion is in the skin. Skin is still pretty light, but it's not too white and shining let's say from within. However, we have those two, but when we're looking with ashy girls in the category, sometimes they feel that don't have enough contrast. They are not enough bright. They just wan na make themselves brighter, so they dye their hair bright black, what they end up with they wake up in the morning and they look in the mirror because they always thought that their lashes and brows are pretty dark actually, but they never compared it To real dark and real, intense color, and as soon as they compare it to that black color everything looks blurred and totally disappearing. It just looks like it was edit on Photoshop from the different picture, so what they try to do they try to make their brows much more intense. Many of them try to make their brows very thin. It is because they sometimes feel like when they make it very thick that it really looks very heavy on their face, because their face is pretty delicate. Some of these women don't have very prominent, very blunt and strong features of their faces. Their facial bones are somewhere in between, they can be delicate, they can be slightly larger, but not as prominent as and intense. So they feel like those thick and dark. Brows are look too heavy, because dark color adds heaviness like visual weight to things and the size. As visual weight to things right so the thickness and the color of the brows like drags everything down, they feel like it's too heavy, so they want to make it lighter in weight in visual weight. How are you gon na make it, of course, plugging them and making everything? Then they feel like they don't have enough color in their eyes they start doing very rich makeup, especially they very often they don't do enough blending because they feel, like their features, have to be stronger and sharper from the distance. That'S right, they're kind of following nature. You see, but they just go in slightly to a different direction because they kind of supposed to be northern and more blended, and then they feel after they've done all that super bright, make up their eyes super thin and black brows. They look in the mirror. What happens with their skin, their skin starts lacking of that beige and Peach eNOS, especially. She has that very Gration, pretty greyish and slightly dull skin skin that is not shining from within skin. That is not clear. What happens again. Eyes are trying to match the black color and trying to match something in their face, what it finds it finds a Sheena's paleness because of the contrast phase becomes paler, even if she had natural blush before she doesn't have it now anymore, graciousness those shadows under her Eyes those shadows by her nose all those shadows get increased. All those bumps in larger pores also starts speaking with that black color until she's doing a lot of makeup. This is why they get a lot of fake tan to make their skin darker and warmer kind of give them life back, see it's still different from those snow white type. Women. Are we gon na talk about this soon? That is slightly different from them, because they still have some nuttiness and graciousness in their complexion, so that kind of removes the facial features from them. If we place something solid, black and dark with their face, also another important thing that I forgot to tell you the beginning: black hair or dark brown hair looks very solid. This color is very even it doesn't have any highlights any dimensions. Any shadow pieces lighter pieces, so it's not playing with the light. It'S very understandable and clear from the distance it's outlining the shape very thoroughly. So, comparing to that eyes start comparing that face and that face consists. Many complicated tones, colors shapes shadows wrinkles. So if the face consists of loads of that some swollen s, so our eyes kind of compare that very clean and solid color, very understandable, with something more complicated here. So all the features close to that kind of hair become more prominent. All those discolorations become also more readable, it's not bad, it's just sometimes what is happening, and if we talk about women with red hair that are still on zero contrast level. Let'S say they have pretty bright and clear complexion. Let'S say they have pretty clear eyes. They'Re already closer to black right, because black is clear and pretty cool color. So in this case they have to see also on lashes and the brows, which is very important, especially if they're thick it's good, then the freckles. If they want to hide them, and then they have to think about, maybe dark brown would be better than black, because many of them have warmer coloration, especially the ones with hazel eyes, with brown eyes and maybe slightly yellowish undertone in their skin. That can really clash with that black hair black hair can really make them look sallow there yellowish earthy separate. There are also some women in that category. Zero countries that can have pretty Ashleigh hair, but their skin is pretty clear and their eye. Color is very clear. Very clear blue, let's say so: they can't rock that sometimes it happens that women like that they have slightly dirtier hair color. The skin is clear. Their eyes are pretty clear, blue color, let's say so for them. That can look very pretty. Of course, it also depends on facial features and stuff. For that again, you can watch my video about hair colors for the body types, but in general this is when it can look pretty good, for example, see on this picture this girl. I don't find that this hair style and that color itself fits the bone structure, but if we look on her eyes and her skin, a black black color, along with them, doesn't make her look very sick and tired. Her eyes are pretty bright and intense and her skin color doesn't contain too much ashen s so that a Shanna's doesn't pop. But here we have a girl also with light ice, pretty light hair also with zero contrast. She is not too light, not too dark somewhere. In the middle but she's a bit more ashy she's on the greater side, she's muted she's, not as clear so for her - that black hair can look slightly like a wig like separate, plus one contrast, level and plus one country's level. We already have a bit more color added to their complexion. They can have darker skin darker eyes. We have here like already brown eyes, rare, a black eyes. Black eyes are so intense, so we put them in 2+2 category, but here we still have women with whether bright blue eyes. They can have bright, blue, a dark blue eyes or dark hazel eyes or brown eyes. Amber eyes also can present at this category. If they have a lot of olive Ness in their skin, a lot of ashes in their skin they're, slightly dull, muddy muted, in this case, black hair can look slightly to have you on them and slightly lifeless as soon as they get it reached. Chocolate, let's say, or maybe slightly lighter brown colors. You know sometimes that softer brown color can look amazing on women with slightly muddy, but still dark and intense brown eyes. Let'S say so. You can't make a mistake if you match your hair color to your eye color. Let'S say your eye: color is dark brown. You make your hair same color as your Isaac. You look pretty interesting. If that looks too heavy, you can always add some highlights, so it would have some dimension to it. If you feel like it's too solid, it's too. It'S too separate, and you have a lot of you on your face going on, so it can just distract attention and make the whole thing a little bit more complicated and add some shadows and light pieces in there. It will look three-dimensional, maybe a she round with some highlights Beyonce. She has some ashen s under her skin a little bit so when she did that black hair in herself everything else kind of looked slightly warm and slightly dusty compared to that clear, intense black color. So, every time she made her hair slightly lighter on a darker Brown side. Let'S say it looked overall, much softer, also women in this category when they make black hair and it doesn't suit them very well, they feel like they have lack of life. It'S not mostly about the brows that they care most of it's mostly about the makeup. They try to add a lot of bronzer shine, peachy tones blush, reddish blush, and so they try to put some life back in there. They try to experiment with colors. They feel like they need to add some colors in them, because, with that black color, their appearance kind of becomes slightly lifeless now, if women in this category are clear, colored and cool, they can look gorgeous with black hair, and this is one we get. Those Snow White's, if she has black eyes, let's say and slightly discolored hair, but very clear, skin color. She can try black hair and she can actually look amazing with them or she has very, very clear blue eyes or very clear green eyes, but green blue better, because if she's cool toned and if her skin also is clear again. I talked about this in this video. Are you soft or clear? If you have that coloration, then? Yes, then that black hair can look very beautiful on you. You can always try some wigs better if you make a selfie in a black wig with a natural light and no makeup, please, because if you're wearing makeup, it won't show you the real picture, how you're gon na look in the morning and then when you make A selfie, if you look at it right away and then delete you still didn't distract your eyes from that image. They just saw it get back to this picture in several days. You will be very surprised how much more details you see in terms of colors and in general, you might weather see that your face kind of blends, all together and hair separate or your eyes look as bright as it looked before. Your skin looks as bright as it looked before and you don't feel like you have to apply tons of makeup. Maybe some, maybe you just like to correct some lines or just correct. Some shapes that's okay, but just in general, maybe you feel like you want to apply some mascara and good to go. That is a good indicator that black hair can really suit you. If we talk about plus two contrast level, they probably already have black hair, or at least very intense, hair color. Let'S say dark brown. They probably have very intense eye, color, let's say black or very dark brown, so many of them are cool colored. Many of them are clear: colored if they're slightly dusty, again, maybe think more into dark brown direction, but many of them, probably if they're cool, if they have dark brown, eyes or black eyes, if they're clear in skin, probably they already have black hair. In this case, rules are very similar as two plus one contrast all right. That'S it hope that was interesting. Please share with us some of your experience. If you ever tried the black hair on yourself and you're, never gon na get back to that again, or did you find yourself in one of the lighter categories and you did try the black hair and it worked perfectly for you and please write your parameters of Coloration, because for other women, it can be very useful information. Na Na: It's interesting that asians can still look soft with black hair but it looks so intense on white people.

Cristine M. Domantay: Watching this even though my hair is naturally black

AmandaJoyMusic: The goth struggle when you know you won't look good with black hair.

Farah Zamir: HARD SAME for "dark" hair and "black" hair not being the same. So many times I've read a book or heard a description of someone having "black hair" and instead they have like moderately brown hair haha

Nova: I'm so jealous of people who suit dark hair :( since I was young I have always admired that sultry look of black hair and dark eyes and either have it naturally or suit it. Glossy black hair or black cascade of curls, ugh I die SO pretty. I dyed my hair black in my teens and it just didn't look good on me (for ref I'm blonde, light/pink faced, light eyes). It's very disappointing lol. Maybe in my next life I'll suit dark hair :'(. My boyfriend has dark hair and eyes so maybe I can live vicariously through my future children haha

LadyAhro: What about a red hair video? From coppery ginger to bright red, as various reds can suit a wide range of skintones.

selective outrage: I'm Finnish and blonde. Decided to try dark brown. I knew I looked bad when NO ONE said anything at all when I came into the office. Such a drastic change yet everyone pretended they didn't notice a thing!

No: Black hair looks different on everyone in terms of aesthetics but honestly I don't think anyone can look bad with black hair, maybe they'd give of different vibes but it's not like someone dying their hair orange if that makes sense.

rdpcl: I'm Warm and Soft (Dull, Muted) and my hair is dark brown with reddish reflections. During college I tried a jet black dye and was really surprised that it looked so weird and separate; I assumed being a Latina it would suit me. Now when I dye my hair, I choose softer hues.

Haghenveien: You can have dark hair and light freckled skin naturally. It's quite common here in Spain. I guess it's what happens when you mix Celt origines with a ton of sun.

BrownWhiteCat: My skin is very light naturally and I have dark blue eyes. I‘ve been dying my hair jet black for years now. I love how I look with it it makes me shine. I tried my natural hair color (which is medium brown) for some time but I think it just looks so boring. I look too soft. I love the contrast the black hair gives me. It highlights my cheekbones. And I always like it no matter if my skin is lighter or if I tan (which I like to do a lot). I think the black hair really suits me.

Abril: I dyed my hair black because of this video and im so happy with how it looks! I have dark brown eyes and fair cool toned skin, black hair makes my eyes stand out and gives me an overall clear complexion.❤ I also have dark eyebrows and eyelashes, so even though i have pretty light skin i can still support the contrast of black.

Terry: When your hair is naturally dark and isn't dyed but you're watching this to see if nature did you dirty.

Carol Johns: I would love to hear your thoughts on the recent trend of adding more unnatural colors to hair in a discreet fashion. I don’t mean dyeing a whole head bright blue, but the seemingly natural ones. For example, rose gold hair, milk tea hair, oil slick hair, blue black hair and so on.

Myss angelA: I was watching The Addams Family movie (for the billionth time) and noticed for the first time under a certain light Morticia has super red reflections in her hair and I wasn't expecting that at all lol I guess the actress actually has a warm undertone and no matter how pale they could make her, they had to stick to warmish colours, that's why she also looks so good with bright red lipstick. She on point tho

gawky_angel: When I was younger and in my emo phase I used to dye my hair blue black. I’m a soft natural with warm, olive/dusty light skin. I loved it because it really made me look paler and a little dead haha. My natural hair color is a level 4 dark neutral/warm brown and even that washes me out. It makes me look older and more tired. I now dye my hair a natural copper shade that suits my features and coloring better (I think).

Indigo Carra: I have very pale skin with a slightly warm undertone, mid-tone gray blue eyes, and hair naturally a dirty dark blonde/ light brown, but I dyed my hair very very dark brown with reddish golden undertones. I think it looks good on me. I used to dye my hair a soft black color with neutral undertones and that was a bit too harsh for me.

Kaleidoscope Eyes: I've been artificially raven haired for two years. I'm fair skinned on the cooler side with hazel eyes and naturally brown hair. My colour of choice is an intense blue black and I love it!

Dima Vasilev: Could do one about tattoos and piercings for Kibbe types please Aly?  Understand if this might be a bit out there, but it would be great to get some ideas about what body modifications might suit different types. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Brianna Hawkins: I appreciate your impact on how I see my beauty. I can’t tell you how much I’ve bloomed since I first discovered your channel... perhaps that wasn’t the direct intention, but it’s certainly a bonus!

Tanya Shcher: I had a light beige hair (8 level) and I hated how mousy I looked sometimes. So when I turned my hair black my entire coloring changed. It was like I put something missing in my look. No one ever thought that I was a fake brunette. And I tried to get back to beige hair and then I could compare my looks. So I looked a lot more ordinary, something was missing again. I decided to try different natural colors and nothing worked that great as black, not even dark brown. So, I think maybe my complexion is clear, my skin is light, but I avoid the sun to make it lighter, my eyes have some green, yellow and blue colors and I could call them bright. And when I put black hairdye I just become high contracted and clear. And yeah, of course I dye my eyebrows and put makeup. I never liked natural looks or no makeup looks... so no problem with that. But if I’m lazy I can just wear foundation and put some brow product on my face and I look great even with this minimal makeup.

Susan: I dyed my hair black (hair is a natural mid-brown) when I was 17/18, it was long then, and it looked really good. I have bright blue eyes and my skin was paler then. That was a long time ago, though, and my skin has become a lot creamier (more yellow) with sun damage over the years, so I probably wouldn't do it now.

Elizabeth Blanford: I learned a lot more than I ever thought I would in this video. I have dark brown hair, warm and soft skin and eyes and dyed my hair black years ago and didn't know why I didn't like it so much. Dark brown hair and clear black hair can look similar but has wildly different effects

Scarlett: Aly: did you see the blue? Me: blue? oh my god there's something wrong with me

E. K.: That dark haired margot robbie photo shook me good lmao she looks soo different

au burrito: I am probably in the +1 or +2 categories and I have been dyeing my hair black for at least ten years now. It makes my skin look clearer and I feel like it gives me an edge that my natural color just doesn't give me. Recently I've been wanting to see my natural color just to see what it looks like now and have even grown out my roots about an inch. My natural color is the same as it was when I was younger, a dark brown with a lot of gold in it and I remember it always made my skin look so ruddy and uneven. Maybe I should just stick to dyeing it.

mrscott43: i'm 100% sure i shouldn't dye my hair black or anything really dark / intense. i could maybe do a medium-dark brown, at most. thanks, aly!

Shae-Lynn Schumacher: What if we really like the Elvira look? I'm quite pale with hazel eyes and I GREATLY prefere my black hair

Tricia Roy: I just learned I should not try to dye my hair black! Still, very informative.

Rux Croitoru: First off, awesome channel... Secondly, what I've also noticed that has an impact on whether you look good with black hair or not is hair texture. I dunno, somehow, I don't think that black hair looks too great on fine/thin hair.

Gage: Ive been dying my hair black for a while and I’ve have been wondering if it actually works for me and while this video gave me a lot of information, I feel further away from an answer than when I started FYI, my natural color is dark ash blonde, I have very very dark eyes and neutral, soft-toned fair skin. share your thoughts

Amy M: loving this series, thank you once again aly!!

Ashalind Rose: I dyed my hair black as a teenager when I was in my goth phase. I'm a zero contrast level with bright blue eyes and medium brown hair with natural highlights. I also have freckles. Black looked really flat on me and made my skin sallow. It did a great job of emphasizing the circles under my eyes. At the time, I didn't care because I was wearing white foundation anyway to achieve my goth aesthetics. I really couldn't go out without makeup until the color faded into a deep reddish brown. After that, it was fine. I would never try to go black again. I've found that when I want to look like I have black hair for a costume I can use a warm dark brown wig and the contrast is enough to give the right look. It doesn't become obvious that it's not black until I put true black right next to it.

vegan unicorn: Aly- I just have to love on you- I have been watching your channel for some time now- I really appreciate all that you do, your massive intake of knowledge presented in a fun, rich vid is always awesome. Thank you for your hard work and passion to add beauty, knowledge, and art to the world. You are such a cutie with great style! ‍♂️‍♀️

Cait B: As someone who has been dying her hair darkest brown for years just know once you go black.... you can’t ever go back. Literally. Unless you shave your head or grow your hair out entirely your hair is dark forever lol

Dan: I'm +1 contrast, bright complexion and I tried the jet black when I was younger... It was a total fail because, as my skin is tan, there is a slight undetectable green undertone that the black brought out. I looked tired and liveless. So, as you said, I can wear the deepest brown, but never a midnight blue black color.

Jasmeen: I don't really know if I am a +1 or +2 contrast, I am just sure that I am warm and bright and I have naturally black hair. However, I think this video is interesting because I have black, cool and slightly muted (with some grey in it) hair which doesn't suit my skin or eye color (my eyes are dark brown but also warm and bright) so you give me the confirmation that I should try dark brown or chocolate hair color, maybe the same color as my eyes. If I try it, I'll probably let another comment to say how I feel about it.

kellie: I dye my hair black. My coloring (eyes, skin, hair) is very similar to Eva Green's and darker hair suits me much better than my natural medium brown.

Sandra Pinto Urrutia: My natural hair is dark brown. Only once, when I was in my late teens, I experimented adding blond highlights... they looked awful... I'm happy with my hair color. Even now that gray is coming in. Thank you for such an interesting video!

FlowersIn Formaldehyde: Love the Elvira look though :p I have naturally very fair skin and bright green eyes, my natural hair color is light/medium brown and I fill my brows in with black eyebrow mascara. I think the black hair with blue undertones looks very nice with my green eyes.

Michelle Meng: Thank you, Aly. This video is so helpful! ❤️

Cero: I've tried a bunch of hair colors but I've always felt more comfortable with dark colors. I've dyed it a very dark purple but it looks more black with a purple/brown tint and I feel really good with it!

y yg: So helpful wow!! I have black hair and ive always felt grey or dull. I love that you put examples of all types of women so we can compare ourselves and make the decision easier. Im gonna dye my hair brown soon! Thanks!

mamaboo cee: Makeup artists need to take a class from you, because you are so right about it all. Another great video! Welcome to the USA! Glad you are here safe! Also, I tended to stay away from brown haircolr because they always have a red cast, which looks brassy. I have light blue eyes and now have decided not to cover my grey hair - and it works! My eyes pop, my skin tone looks healthy. Very little makeup looks so much more attractive. I wonder what guys think of a girl who has a slick of foundation and thick red lipstick topped with eyes that have so many different eyeshadow colors that its confusing. All I could think is "will all that makeup wipe off on me?". Lol, natural look is best and most attractive with very little makeup.

Yes Pls: This video was AMAZING and so much more helpful than any other video I've seen on this topic! I go to the salon but I always want to know as much as possible about this stuff before I go.

Liesl Balada: Finally accepting my natural black color after years of dying it lighter. I always thought gold highlights suit me because of my hazel green eyes. Now I Iook younger with a very healthy and shiny hair. Natural beauty is the best

Unicornul Curcubeu: My secret is also, after I dyed my hair black, I dyed my eyebrows dark too, and put some blue eye shadow, dark eye liner under my eye, mascara, bronze powder, and red lipstick. I look so freaking sexy with those changes. ♥

Di :3: What you mentioned about ashy skin (like many of us olive skinned) is so true. Black is the absolutely worst color for us. I have dark brown hair but I do ashy blonde highlights and gives so much needed light to the face!

daijaime: From binge watching your videos I've deduced I'm a -1 or 0 contrast which explains why I looked so bad with black hair when I dyed it for the first time, my mom is one of those snow white types and even though we both have hazel eyes hers are more blue and she looks so good with her hair dyed black she's been dyeing it that way since forever ... I went blonde once and got ready so much faster, it really softened my face and made me look more awake, my natural brown hair makes my under eye bags show more and my cheek bones create shadows when my hair is dark. Thank you so much for these videos and during this quarantine I will definitely be going lighter!

Lo En: I am so confused with her videos because as much as they make sense, I never seem to *really* fit any category. My skintone is very pale, I almost never get sunburned, I have a lot of yellow undertones with a little ashy-ness. My brows are almost black in color, but they are on the sparse side (I still have very visible brows without makeup, but they look kind of "empty"). I have green eyes with light yellowish-brown patches and dark lashes. My lips are very pigmented and sometimes almost red. I don't have a lot of angles or countours on my face as it is pretty flat. My natural hair color is a medium brown with a lot of copper/red/golden undertones that get even more intense when the sun comes out. I'm so confused about my "type" or what haircolor suits me

Brit Lee Betterman: I'm naturally blonde and have been dying my hair dark for a while. Interestingly enough whenever I lighten it to a lighter brown it flushes my skin out bad. So it's either dark brown or blonde on me no in between it's annoying!! And if it's it's brown it HAS to be ash or else it makes my skin tone look nasty

pizzakrydder: Hi Aly, I always love your videos :) so interesting. I noticed that around 8:05 you showed a photo of Leigh Lezark with blonde hair, as an example of someone who wouldn't look good with black hair. But actually Leigh had a super dark paige hair cut for many years and look amazing with that color, much to do with her olive complection I think! She was my hair goals for years :)

Fernando Angon: Your videos are very informative, now I know why I look good in many hair colors ☺️

Bridget Norris: I love this video- so informative. Just out of curiosity how can you tell what contrast you are? I have a hard time seeing if I’m either -1 or 0 or warm or cool. It seems like it would be easy but it’s harder to figure out.

Xara Pavlou: I am naturally dark blond, but I've been dying my hair blue black since I was 18!(33 now)!I have changed colors but I always go back to black.I adore black hair and I loved this video!Only with black I feel like myself and I have gotten many beautiful compliments through the years.I am cool toned and clear I think!I am learning a lot, thank you for your videos!

Mairin O: I tried dyeing my hair medium brown once and it left my hair in about a week. I have naturally dirty blonde hair. I can't imagine the upkeep I would need for black hair.

Elena L: That was fascinating! I had always wondered why it seemed that I could not pull off black hair at all, and now I know why. I am 0 ( or +0.5) contrast, soft coloration with hazel brown eyes and chocolate brown hair naturally. I look so much better in blonde though. Also being from Latvia, I could REALLY relate to what you were saying about the 0 coloration women in Russia who were trying to pull off black hair! I see that phenomenon here a lot as well.

Jack Taylor: thank you for the wonderful insight on what I can do and showing how that is accurate this was great service that every stylist should be giving at each service two thumbs up, great work! Thank you!

artifex magicae: I think I'm a +2 and once I coloured my hair black. Everybody just thought it was my natural hair colour. I gives me a lillte bit of that snow white look I just love.

Angel Truth: Thank you, I always struggle with finding the right color. I used to envy blondes because light colors suit them. However through this video I got new perspective about dark hair.

SilvaMorasten: these are interesting videos, I comletely agree with what you said, through many years I gradually recognized on myself every rule you described. Btw I am around zero, more like cold olive with ashiness or mousiness, and I tried red and black hair colours but then I got horribly deadly looking face, no way... But amazing is that pure black clothes fits to me and make my face with hair more vibrant and glowing, I dont understand why

Marta Sousa: Loved it, very well explained. I learn a lot with your videos, I find them very interesting. But Aly, I'd like to know about fantasy colors on hair, like blue or pink or green... How would they work?? Thanks a lot for your teachings!!

Mariana Patela: Would you do a vid on redheads? I’m (probably) a -1 / 0 (VERY VERY pale, bluish green eyes and dark blonde hair) and went copper and I’m loving it! I can’t tell wether I’m warm or cool though

Martina D'Onofrio: Loved the way you explained the matter. I’m ashy blonde with very pale skin and hazel eyes and started dying my hair jet black when I was 20 because I think my natural hair color doesn’t suit my personality. The contrast was too high anyway and looked fake so I turned to dark brown and that seemed to be a better choice. Everybody tells me I look like a natural brunette but truth is I regularly darken my eyebrows and wear mascara at least, otherwise my features would disappear :)

jinglebombb: Me, an asian: i wonder if i look good with my black hair in the past 24 years

Faraniel: I dyed my hair black when I was 16 or 17 because I adore the looks of Eva Green, Liv Tyler or Amy Lee. I am unfortunately somewhere between -1 and 0 (light brown hair and VERY pale, light hazel almost amber eyes) so it didn't work out. I think I look better in copper but the fact that I can't be this contrasted goth queen really makes me mad :D

hiestera01: Nooo! I've tried. I was looking like one of those girls after bad plastic surgery. I have naturally Brown hair. Ginger makes my skin alive and suits so well with green eyes

Gigi: I’m Arab, we pretty much love dark glossy voluminous black hair, and it looks good on most people here

amanda: Wow this video was SPOT ON! I used to think that because I was a dark skinned woman, I could pull off jet black, 1, 1B, hair until I tried it and found that I look sick and washed out in the face My hair is like a dark mousy brown and I have like green muted undertones so I could have known better lol When I opted for an espresso or black-brown instead it was a HUGE improvement

City_ Girl: Love your unique perspective, knowledge and talent! So glad I found your channel ❤️

Tracy: I remember reading in a magazine along time ago. 80’s maybe. Anyway I remember reading the further away you go from your natural color the more makeup you need to look your best. That stuck with me. I would love to see a video on who looks good with gray hair. I look terrible with my gray hair and I will forever dye my hair. For reference I look similar to Sophia Loren not as beautiful though. Some of my peers look amazing with gray.

M: my hair is naturally light blonde, across the years I've transitioned it from blonde to brown to black, and everyone assumes its my natural hair colour. I also feel much more like myself with dark hair :)

Mo MudMerchant: I trust Mother Nature and her decisions with me since I have naturally dark hair, but this is still a really interesting video to learn more about hair Edit: grammar

Katrina Chernykh: Aly, you are definitely one of the best! Thank you for your definite talent that makes our world more beautiful:)))

LittleDove97: I have naturally jet black hair, I love my haircolor. I still watched this video to see if I carry it well lol. You're very knowledgeable.

Margot Denise: I am in the mousy category, except I have a lot of pink in my skin. Black made me look old and tired all the time. I had a cool toned red for years that looked great, then I went copper, which looked AWFUL on me. Now I am back to my natural hair color with some balayage & I FINALLY feel confident to leave the house without makeup.

SOFYA VOLKOVA: I’m +1, cold and my skin is slightly muted, soft. I have naturally dark brown hair and eyes, but then I colored my hair black it looks awful. My facial features are like blurred and I have to do a brighter make up. I will never do it again, maybe dark brown, but not black. Thank you, Aly for your advices, it really helps!

Ashendoll: Oh no... I think this video is sort of confirming that my dyed hair is too harsh, but I'm stuck with it. I don't want to damage my hair and I'm a student, so going through the lightening process would be way too expensive... What do I do? :( I'm extremely pale with pink undertones!

shhhquietplease: wow i am loving the more detailed explanations for everything!!!!!! so impressive how you notice not such features but maintenance and habits!

NATALIA G: Super useful as always! I dyed my hair black a couple of times and im never going back to it. I looked like a chinese doll or as if I was wearing a doll’s wig. So wrong on me. My coloration is hard to specify, i am Argentine and have light skin with some fade freckles but not much, but I wouldn’t say im white. I have brown eyes and naturally brown hair but not super dark brown. Some say i am olive but barely. Some say im warm and some say im cool. I do know that the times i went with black hair it looked evil and fake. The best for me is medium golden brown hair, I think.

Johanna JF: I'm very muted and soft in my coloring but if I ever want a drastic change I'll probably dye my hair black to see if it suits my grey eyes or if they're too muted to suit that kind of darkness.

Wika B: i loved me with dark brown hair- i'm very light skinned btw a- and the lenght never mattered, i always looked good but with black hair it was a bit difficult and too much in your face, i still liked it but felt as if i had to do more makeup because my brows were brown and i looked too pale and blabla so yea, thanks for this video!

Stone Cold ET: I just split dyed my hair - half blonde and half black. I can't decide if I love it or absolutely despise it. I'm not sure if I have the face for it or not since it's so dramatic looking (I'm a bit on the overweight side but not prominent weight in the face. I have a lot of freckles, small hoodedgreen eyes and a heart shaped face)

U E: My desire and attraction towards long, black hair outweighs whether it suits my skin tone or not!

Elena Bulau: I'm very pale with dark green eyes and blonde (both warm and cold platinum) looked AWFUL on me, i felt like i desperately needed makeup to hide my "lifelessness". There's nothing that suits me as good as black hair♡

Megan: wow this was very in depth. I wanted black hair but I think I'm going to go for a very dark brown after watching this. I naturally have medium brown hair and neutral skin.

Lady of the Myrkviðr: I have black hair, and maybe this could help someone with the harsh-looking brow conundrum. I also have oily skin and my brows have always been naturally sparse ever since I can remember. Brow pens or tattoo pens don’t typically stay on my skin. My tip that works for me- after clean, & toned skin moisturize the brows with a non-oily (I like Pacifica brand) water serum, which keeps the brow hair from getting dried out. Once dry go over area with eyeshadow primer and a little nyx loose translucent powder. I use Anastasia’s black/brown brow powder and a heavily pigmented long-wear solid raven black eyeshadow. I’d recommend the finer tipped brushes in the ABH line and draw on tiny hairs and layer the three shadows from light to dark then draw in darker hairs as needed. Then set with nyx black brown eyebrow mascara and teeny little more translucent powder to soften it. They are set for the day. I live in a moderately humid environment. I Keep blotting papers in my purse for touch ups.

Angela Rivera: I swear I can't figure this out. I absolutely look best with dark hair, neutral to cool undertone level 4. I'm very fair with blue purple veins .. my face tends to get more pink . My natural hair is level 5 underneath and 6 at the very top in the summer , I get very warm gold highlights in my hair . My natural hair has warmth but it doesn't look good on me.. my eyes are greenish blue. I totally get washed out as a blonde! I've tried several shades. I pulled off pink hair for a while, purple looked terrible. Medium brown doesn't look good either. Like what's the deal LMAO. Like . I can't figure out my undertones, what looks good, what to wear . Ugh ,

Dawn Holmes: My mom has super small and dainty facial feautures. For a long time she had either bobs or pixie cuts rocking her natural hair color, which is black. But this year she decided to embrace her silver grays and she looks AMAZING. Funny thing is that her subtle wrinkles are less noticeable now, she looks even younger! Light hair soften her already soft features, she almosts looks ingenue now.

Chloe Jayde: So i am probably in the zero category, my skin is very ashy and warm. My skin is usually quite pale unless i tan, and my hair is naturally a medium-dark brown. I had black hair for a long time and it made my eyes look like they'd disappear into my face without eyeliner, my brows were fine, and i felt like i always needed to wear a heap of blush so my skin didnt look dead. In winter it was fine because i had no tan and it made me look less warm and more clear, but the second i got the skightest tan (most would say i still have no tan) my skin is too warm. However, it seems all makeup for pale skin is bright pink so foundation helped a lot too.

GAMER GIRL MARS: I am Albino and coloured my hair black for 12 years! I think anything can suit anyone if you want it work and try to make adjustments needed to pull a look off :)

yrozord: All beauty choices explained! Ps. Greetings from Poland, now it's changing, but I've seen lots od women with lovely natural dark ashy blonde who felt it's dull and not defined enough, so they went for either very light bleach blonde or pitch black and it did look harsh and separate from them. Especially when they had freckles. Also light roots look worse on dark ones imo

Robin Green: My skin is warm and light, I was naturally dark blonde as a kid but it faded over time. I've dyed my hair a cool black a few times this year, and was surprised at the number of people who told me it suited me really well- I also have hazel eyes so my eyes aren't a light blue or anything, maybe that made a difference. I think that sometimes ashy hair flatters skin with yellow undertones, because warm skin and warm hair can be too warm altogether- what is your take on this? I'm curious because I've heard conflicting opinions on the yellow undertoned skin + cool toned hair debate!

Rachael Jemmett: I’ve had black hair for over 10 years. I’m pretty pale, I have green/grey eyes and freckles and everyone that’s ever met has believed that my hair is naturally black so I guess it’s worked out for me x

Megan H: Wow, the fact that you know the difference between dark brown and black hair makes me love your channel even more ❤️

Dawn Holmes: Came here because I love your videos, but I know for a fact that black hair harshens my features, so I hate it. Easiest way to determine was putting on a wig and taking photos. The funny thing is that my hair is naturally dark brown, but it looks way softer on me than black.

Tatum: Is it possible to have naturally black hair... but look MUCH BETTER with lighter hair? My natural dark hair brings out my ashy undertones and dark circles too much. I look vibrant with light brown and blondes

Brookelynne's Beauty Corner: I’m naturally pale with blue eyes and dark ash blonde hair. I think I fall into -1 contrast its hard to say as I have features of -2 and 0 lol. I wear really dark fake tan and colour my hair black violet (have loads of hair dye and fake tan reviews on my channel) and I think I can pull it off that way. Defo trying jet black hair soon lol. Thanks for this video
