Hey guys today, i'm here to show you an extremely simple routine that makes my wash days a breeze and leaves my hair super manageable. But first i want to show you what my hair looks like in its completely natural state right here. I have absolutely nothing in my hair i had washed conditioned and then just let it air dry freely and in this state my hair gets very matted and tangled and shrunken it's pretty difficult to manipulate and style and trying to run my fingers through. It is just asking for tears and i definitely cannot comb through it without ripping out my hair, but luckily my wash day routine, which uses only three products takes care of. All of that. So i start out by drenching my hair with water, get it nice and soaked. Then i go ahead and use the melanin african black soap shampoo. This has tea tree and peppermint in it, which is extremely refreshing, and it makes my scalp feel absolutely amazing. This shampoo is really rich, so you don't have to use a lot, which is great because one bottle lasts me quite a long time, and also i love the nozzle on the bottle. It allows me to get all throughout my head, which makes it a lot easier to get the shampoo in, especially if i have tangled sections and yeah. I basically work that in thoroughly concentrating mostly on my scalp, then smoothing down and letting the shampoo go where it may. After that, i take this little scalp scrubber and i just go to town with it. I separate sections of hair and brush through vigorously, and i do that over my entire head to just lift up any dirt and dead skin that needs to be removed. It'S also very stimulating. It'S like a scalp massage as well, so it you know, gets the blood flowing throughout your scalp once i'm finished that i go ahead and rinse it all out, and this shampoo gets my hair so clean so fresh without stripping away my natural oils, which is another Reason why it's my favorite, then i take the melanin multi-use softening conditioner and i start out by adding a couple pumps just enough so that it gives me enough slip to split my hair in half easily. I tie up one side, then i take the other side and split that in half, because i'm going to make four sections and then working on one quadrant at a time i add in more conditioner so that all of the hair feels thoroughly coated. And then this is where my trusty paddle brush comes in. I love this brush for detangling, starting at the ends and working my way up to the roots i gently brush through to get rid of any knots and doing this while the hair is wet and full of conditioner. It just makes the detangling process so easy, especially with this conditioner. I love that the tangles just melt away the brush glides through like nobody's business, and it literally takes me less than two minutes to do each section. It'S so quick after my hair is totally smooth. I take an elastic band like this and make a ponytail. This will help the roots to stay flat and tangle free. Then i plait the hair, which is going to keep it stretched out when i get towards the very end. I do stop plaiting and i just twist it - and i do this because it makes it easier to take the plaits out once my hair is fully dry, and that is all i do to each section of hair coat with conditioner detangle with a paddle brush. Starting from the bottom and working up to the roots, once the section is completely smooth, make a ponytail to keep the roots flat plant the length of the hair, then twist. The very end after that i rinse the conditioner out, while my hair is still plaited up and i make sure to rinse very thoroughly. I let the water really get in there and i wring out the conditioner from my hair, and this leaves my hair feeling. So soft and moisturized, and it's very springy, and because of how amazingly, the conditioner and paddle brush work to melt away. My tangles, i only shed about this much hair on each wash day, which is way less than what i used to. So i'm extremely happy about that. So then i just leave my hair alone and let it air dry overnight and the next day. Here i go with my four sections, one by one i take down the plaits. I use some plain extra virgin olive oil. A couple drops of that and apply it to my hair, which will give it shine and make it easier to brush through while dry. Then using my paddle brush. I'M again brushing through the hair starting from the bottom and going up to separate the hair and to get out those little crinkles, and now my hair is stretched. I am able to easily part it and style it, which is why this is my go-to routine. For ultra manageable hair and once my whole head is done, i'm left with a blown out look, but without the use of any heat you can see. Now i'm able to run my fingers through my hair, and i can actually comb through it too, which i couldn't do before it just makes handling so much more straightforward. This is an ultra simple, wash day process, but it definitely makes a huge difference in how my hair behaves. I do want to point out that i could get my hair even more stretched out if i did more ponytails, but these days i usually just stick with four, because it gets the job done enough for me and it's the quickest and on this day, once my Hair was clean and stretched. I went ahead and threw in some box braids, as you can see here, but yeah. I could go on to do pretty much any style i wanted from there. So that is basically it guys that is my current wash day routine. I hope this video was helpful and i will catch up with you on my next one.

MzKinkyCurl: Ever since you showed this years ago, I’ve been doing this technique on my hair and my now nine year old! I do 3-4 sections on each side and can braid her hair with NO heat! No tears either! Thanks girl!

The Beauty Holder: You made it look so simple! I feel like my high porosity hair would be screaming if I tried to wet my whole head without sectioning it. I'm not opposed however to cutting down my routine and making it simple and more efficient. Thanks for sharing xoxo

Dallas 316: Kim, you're effortlessly gorgeous awesome results!

DenayTheDiva: I really love how easy your entire washday process is! Such healthy hair! ✨

Tracy: I would love to see you and naptural85 collaborate on a hair video. Between her hair products and your hair styles you two are powerhouses in the natural hair world! Please please please make this happen!!

Rae: I’ve also simplified my wash day routine as well. I’ve come to understand after 5 years of being natural that less is more. Great video :)

daedae181: Ever since you showed this technique a long time ago ,it has saved my life. We are hair twins, so for me this is golden.

Melissa C.: I could never. You’ve truly mastered your hair

Daria Pio: Even though at times you may use different products, your technique is consistent! A vital component that makes a huge difference. You are reaping the benefits.Thank you for sharing!

Velicia Williams: The Melanin hair care line is great. The shampoo really cleans your scalp & hair without stripping it. The conditioner leaves your hair nicely moisturized. And the oil is versatile for skin or hair. It’s so lightweight.

Lovela Wolfspirit: This is my new washday routine, love it. So easy! I like to put in bantu knots after taking down the braids, and the next day it's beautiful and fluffy!

TheInsiderBeauty: I just love how effortlessly you do things. Thanks to you, my washday don’t have to be “all day”!

SonyH25: I have everything, but the brushes. About to order and try that process out. Thanks! By the way your skin is flawless I’d love some tips!!

Carmen Fluker: How early in the day do you start your wash routine to have your hair air dry overnight? It can take my hair more than 12 hours to air dry, especially if I braid or twist it.

Demi Perry: Definitely trying this tomorrow! I was just here dreading washing my hair because its time for some passion twist, but watching this process seems so much simpler! I'm semi excited now lol

Shooga Sweet: I follow most of the same steps that you laid out, with some added measures. I do use a leave in conditioner and a cream/butter styler and hair grease as a sealer. My hair come out shiny and feels so good. I don't use rubber bands/ products on my hair because I have fine/ thin strands, so I put more braids in, so my roots will be flat.

Andrea Massaline: This is what I need in my life! Definitely going to do this from now on! I have thick, curly, high density, low porosity hair and I just know this will help me tremendously!! Thanks for sharing!

She has probably never been to Africa, but if we stand side by side you would definitely say she is my sister. It brings tears to my eyes. What has humanity done to humanity? One day someone is going to have to give an account on what they did to black people.

iKandi: I’ve been doing this but I do box braids, about 6 braids per quad. I can rock any kind of wig or just a hat! I use a leave in, cream then gel and my hair stays moisturized for days!
