All right, okay, so we are both live on youtube and instagram. Now let me just adjust this camera and i don't know why my computer is acting funny here. It is what it is we just gon na keep it pushing. So sorry about that guys, i'm going to be looking back and forth, because i have my youtube over here and then my instagram over here so youtube. Let'S talk about the flow for this live today we are going to be talking about the giveaways for this year. At the end of the live now, if you're catching this on the replay right, you can definitely like participate in the lives this year, we're changing it all up, but stay to the end for the details, i'm sorry, you can definitely participate in the giveaways, not the Live the giveaways this year so stay to the end for those details, okay, but today's topic is five natural hair tips for 20 22.. Now i know a lot of people like at the beginning of the year said that they're gon na restart their healthy natural hair journey right, like that makes no sense to me because i'm like, when did you stop? When did you stop right? So i really really hope that you guys stay to the end, because the last is probably like the best tip that i can give you guys when it comes to like growing natural hair um. So let's just get into it. Okay, so number one or number five right, because we're counting down number five would definitely be like fall in love with the journey like focus on loving your routine right so many times we focus solely on like getting results, and that can be very stressful, very stressful. For two reasons, one your hair is gon na grow at the rate it's gon na grow, regardless of what you do right like. I know it's magic growth oils out here. I know it's like these silly methods that make you do handstands to make the blood rush down to your scalp to get your hair growing faster, like i know it's stuff out here like that right, but if you're really like serious and realistic about like your hair Growth fall in love with the journey and stop focusing on results. Prime example, my sister pippi, most of you guys, know her if you're new to the channel um i'll link some videos in the description box for you. If you're curious about like her journey at all, but she is not into natural hair at all like at all right, which is the reason why you know her hair broke off at the beginning of her journey, because she honestly didn't know what to do and didn't Have like the motivation to like find out right, so pipi went natural before me, but it wasn't until like. I literally showed her what she had to do why she had to do it and encouraged her to just go off the field of her hair is when she got passionate about like her hair right. Her hair is still short. It hasn't even like touched her shoulders. Yet right, um and she's been natural all her life, like all her life - i don't i mean, maybe as a child, she had a perm or whatever, but until now until she changed like her mindset of just falling in love with just the feel of her hair. Like noticing that difference is what made her change. You know her outlook of like loving her hair. Let me know if that makes sense in the comments below, but that's definitely one thing that i did in the beginning of my journey. I focused too much on the results and then you know not enough on falling in love with the journey, which is the reason why i do not do lymph checks on this channel at all, because i honestly do not care how long my hair is right. I just care that is healthy, that is working in my favor that the hard work that i'm putting in is pan off. Okay, so the next two tips is kind of go. They'Re gon na go they're kind to going y'all know. I said all right: they're gon na go hand in hand right and number four would be learn. Basic hair science number three would be focus on the. Why? Why do you do certain steps in your routine right? It'S not enough to just learn that we should deep condition right. We know deep conditioning adds you know, moisture to our hair right, but when you learn the, why of why you do it every wash day right going back to hair science, when you know the different layers of the hair strand, you would know why you have to Right, like there are three layers to the hair strand, just in case you know, there's someone out there that doesn't know, but we focus on two right, and that is the cortex and the cuticle layer right. If you know that basic hair science, you know that when you don't decondition you're only treating that cuticle layer of the hair strand right. But if you know why you deep condition is to treat that cortex layer of the hair strand, you would do it every wash day. Let me know if that makes sense right. Y'All hear a lot of like know your whys with like motivational um videos. As far as like, hitting like your career goals or like your weight loss goals right, it's also important to know why you do what you do with your natural hair journey right. That would help with consistency, if that makes sense right, if you knew that, if you skipped deep conditioning right that your hair will still break off regardless, if you wash it, especially if your hair is damaged, we're not talking about if your hair is like two as Healthiest right, if you knew that, if you skipped it that your hair had a potential of breaking off because you're not treating the foundation, you won't skip it right, you wouldn't put in that work without doing the most important steps. Okay, so let me know if that makes sense in the comments below, but number two would be make your natural hair journey, and i i feel like this is the reason why a lot of people start to stop and start then stop right, because they lose that Motivation come month, two come month, three right, but i would say definitely make your natural hair journey. Enjoyable right, like natural hair, is a lot of work like. Let'S not that's not like just go over that, like it ain't a lot of work, it is a lot of work, which is the reason why i say: keep your natural hair routine, simple right, so you don't be dragging your feet to the next wash day right Because natural hair is not complicated, what's complicated is maintaining that consistency right and i did a video on this channel, how there's levels to consistency and right now we're talking about consistent motivation. So let me give you guys an example. Most of you all know that recently i locked my daughters, taylor's hair right, i'm starting her lock journey and the reason for that is my daughter. What we call a superpower has a superpower. She has adhd right. She has some challenges being steal right and that's not enjoyable for her, especially like her detangling part of wash day right. She has really fine thin strands, so i needed to cut that part out of her wash day to make it enjoyable for her to make it enjoyable for myself right. So we decided to lock her hair best decision that i have ever made like in 2021 like seriously the best decision i've ever made wash day for her is so simple super easy. You know we still have our challenges right, but that number one challenge that i had with her. I mean i do a lot of videos with my kids and bringing them on camera, but y'all don't see the behind the scenes. Y'All think they like got all the patience in the world. No, that's from us taking a day break right that i'm like okay time to press record and do their hair routine on the camera, like especially her she's still young. But her superpower doesn't allow her to sit long periods of time, which is the reason why i decided to lock her hair. Now you have to figure out what is not enjoyable for you with your hair care, routine right, and that doesn't necessarily necessarily mean that your solution is lock your hair right. It could be the way you style that, can you know, eliminate or cut down on some of that detangling time um. It could be a number of things right, you have to determine what's working or how you can make something work better for you. I hope that makes sense, but you definitely want to make sure that you're taking you're stepping back and taking a look at how to make this journey easy on you, because life is still happening right. So last but not least, our number one tip is prioritize overall self-care love. Everything cannot be about natural hair. Like oh, my god. I do a lot of natural hair videos. Y'All know i i can talk it up right, but everything can't be about hair right. You got other things like, i said going on in life, and you also have heard me say sometimes that low confidence when it comes to our hair um, sometimes we're not addressing the real insecurity right and it doesn't even technically have to be like a insecurity um, Especially if you don't have like low self-esteem about like your hair, it could be something totally different right. So i want to encourage you guys to not make everything about your natural hair right. I want you to focus on the mind the body again um. I'Ve said this before on the channel: your hair and your nails are the last components of your body that get you know the good nutrition that you're putting into your body right. Those are the last components. So if your hair is not healthy, you need to address your overall health first before you talk about what's going on with your hair right, so they all work together, but i just want to say everything can be about hair. You definitely have to work on the spiritual side of like your life um i'll share story. 20. 21, even though i have like all the confidence in my hair, and i do these videos, but my main issue was not keeping promises to myself like i don't know. If you joined me last year on this channel, but last year this time it was about supporting everybody like my circle, bringing other people up with me and you know doing the hoorah stuff right. I don't know how to say it, but i found out that i poured so much into other people. I didn't have enough left over to pour into myself, and i feel like that cannot happen in 2022, like we're not doing that right, because that, literally at times left me feeling paralyzed right. So i encourage you to put yourself first right um. If that is your situation right, but mainly what i'm saying is: don't focus solely on your hair. You need that distraction, because, if you're constantly in the mirror wondering if you're here wondering if your hair grew another inch, you you're gon na hurt your feelings period. You just don't hurt your own feelings, i can't say it no uh the way. Okay. So i think that i hear all my points. Y'All know i get right into it. So let's talk about um, the giveaway for 2022.. Now again, if you're on the replay, you can definitely participate uh, we are going to be doing one giveaway per month um, and the way that you participate is to comment on the video after the replay is posted. Leave a genuine comment share like what you're doing in your natural hair journey. What'S working for you? Yes, this giveaway is to boost like engagement numbers for myself, but also, i really want to reward you all who are helping others sharing your journey, even if it's just sharing. Like your experience believe me, you are helping another natural right. We have companies like banda, who agreed to do a giveaway with us. Of course, my own website is going to be sponsoring some of the giveaways. I want to be able to give away some of my staples, because i know a lot of people you know would just love to try what other influencers try for free right who don't like free stuff, but i would like to, of course give away some of My staples majority of them would be deep conditioners right, but the point of this giveaway is to form an actual community right. So if you're on facebook, you can leave a comment on like a post like a post, make your own post right. Um engage with other naturals if you're on youtube leave a comment on the video like the video. If you're on instagram after this replay is posted to the feed, leave a comment right, i'm actually going to go back through the live chat and for those who made it live and left a comment on the replay you're going to get two entries. Okay, it would be so helpful if you leave a purple, a purple heart after your comment, so that i know you want to be entered into the giveaway um. Let'S see what else am i leaving out? Oh now, you will get credit for just like one comment per video right like you can't leave two comments on this video and then i answer your name twice like that's a little bit unfair right, but you can get two entries as far as like attending the Live and then going back to the replay, letting it play and leaving a comment that would definitely you know, get you two entries also, if you're connected to me on multiple platforms, that would give you, you know double triple quadruple entries. You know what. However, you please right. I appreciate the engagement again. Please leave a purple heart after your comments and i think that's it it's just it's just that simple. Nothing is complicated about it. I am going to try to enter um well put those entries in a hat or a bucket daily. So if you're curious, if your entry got recorded, definitely follow me on ig stories, because that's where i'm going to show that video okay. But that is all that. I have let's check some comments because your girl can't see what's going on because my computer is not working with me. I appreciate y'all joining me today: hey tiff, hey miss yo, yo, hey justin. What up eddie hey see on youtube? Live chat: hey shawn! How are you honey, gina? Thank you so much for coming. I see everybody just saying hello, hey big tim. I appreciate you coming hey yolanda, hey, regina. I appreciate y'all coming. Most of these lives are like my veteran naturals. Nobody needs help with anything, hey don um, and i just appreciate y'all being here and like supporting the channel so again, if you're on the replay leave that comment leave that purple heart and let's just make 20 22 the best year ever um, just so y'all know We will be going live three times out the month. Uh, the first of the month will not be alive right, we'll do it every sunday because uh sunday at 12, because that's when i'm free, i mean that's the only reason why but we'll do it every sunday at 12 noon, um, except of the first of every Month, right again this year i am taking a mental health break intentionally and i encourage you all to do the same. All right so no questions. I appreciate y'all working with me i'll. Have this figured out next sunday? I thought i did this sunday, but it is what it is. Okay have a great day, guys love you all talk to you, laters bye in

Leonet Outlaw: The biggest thing I’m focusing on is understanding my moisture cycle as well as using products that maintain moisture. Hair is always growing but I think that retain length really boils down to not letting your hair dry out because that’s when breakage happens

Shefly2004: Hey Jheri, so glad you’re taking time for yourself this year. I too, have made that a goal for this year and to stop sweating the small stuff. It’s amazing how being there for others can take you out of your own space. I for one plan to do better in 2022. Happy New Year!

Beauty In4C: Hi Jheri,am on replay and this was a great discussion..my least favorite step is detangling and how I have managed to make is more enjoyable is by detangling as I prepoo then the last session after the deep conditioner. I loose way less hair and the process has become less stressful.Taking a break and focusing on yourself more is one of the best things I did last year.I am not there yet but it is something worth doing for sure.It can so exhausting when you focus on building others and they do not reciprocate that. Yaay !

SGlover1968: Wow, you really struck a nerve when you talked about pouring so much into others and not having anything left to pour into self. Even though I have a pretty consistent hair routine, I've definitely been short changing myself when it comes to self-care.

Kandice Frenche: Hello Jheri I’m catching your live on the replay! Honestly I’m a new subscriber to your channel and love watching your videos because your so relatable . I have been natural for years but I was forced to do a big chop in 2018 and soon realized that I was using ALL the WRONG products all these years …. So I started a new journey in June of last year vowing to use and learn about better products and really incorporate SELF CARE!….Like you i find myself always available for everyone else’s needs and fall short when it comes to ME. I love the natural hair community I have been following and you are one of the influencers I admire because you keep it ALL of the time! Keep doing what you do because you are touching lives daily and WE appreciate you sis Happy New year to you and the family

Evline Simmons: My struggle is on time. I’m working and work PT so that’s like 7 days a week. I refuse to give up on my coarse 4c fine dense strands. I’ve tried some of yr stables loving curlsmith products and kinky tresses. Still struggling on very dry strands.

KC Wilder: So while I like free stuff, watching YouTube is like apart of my wash day routine, it kinda pumps me up and reenforces, recharges my dedication to my crown, also kinda a nerd and love learning. JJ you have definitely been apart of my wash day life and thereby my hair journey. I actually follow u everywhere: I started here then went to FB and now I'm on IG too. Looking forward to more knowledge and product reviews, kinda now a lot key product junkie

Sharonda Frazier: I love all of your videos. I wash every 2 weeks. After washing and conditioning and moisturize I twist my hair up and leave it until next wash day. My hair is growing and thicken up alot. Thank you for all you do.

Cherl Hill: I look forward to following and learning from you in 2022

carol abraham: I watch the replay twice. These are all great tips!

Fine Natural Hair ROCKS: Awwww, I missed your live, Jheri! But I'm soo here for the replay!
