Most women with curly hair feel that they have to oil their scalp black women has a scalp that does not produce oil, and today we are going to kill that myth once and for all. By the end of this video, i will prove to you that black women do have oil produced in their body and coming through. Their scalp also proves to you that oiling the scalp has directly affected the amount of hair growth that black women are able to obtain. Let'S get into it, what is the sebaceous gland? The sebaceous gland is a microscopic exocrine gland on the body. Now exocrine gland is basically a gland. That is a pretty thin layer that covers the whole body. Aka, your skin, that the sebaceous gland covers every part of your body from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. You have sebaceous glands, except for on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. Every other part of your body has a sebaceous gland. All right. Let'S keep going inside of the sebaceous gland are small cells, and these cells are full of sebum. Sebum is a substance aka, a natural oil that the body produces. The sebum that comes from the scalp has so many different functions. Of course, one of those functions is to make your hair shiny, but it goes way beyond that, depending on what type of climate you live in, the sebum that is released from the scalp does a lot of different things right. So if you are in a hotter climate, you know like in vegas africa. You know in different places like that, where it's super duper hot, as the sebum comes out of the hairs follicle, what it does it actually emulsifies with your sweat and the reason that it emulsifies with the sweat and hotter climates is to prevent dehydration, because, if the, If the sebum can emulsify with the sweat what it does it holds on to that sweat as moisture. So that way you avoid dehydration in hotter climates right. But then, if you are in a cooler climate, the sebum actually becomes more lipid, so it turns into more soul like a like a oh. What do you call it like installation, right and if you're in a colder climate, it's protecting the scalp and the rest of the body because remember you have sebaceous glands over your entire body, except for the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. So, as sebum is released from the body from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet in colder climates like i said it becomes more lipid, so it acts as a barrier right. So that way you are not freezing as fast. It acts as a insulator, basically to help you hold on to heat and to help you avoid like harsh weather conditions. So sebum has a whole lot of different actions, but let's keep going eloquent where the cells rupture because remember i said the sebum lives inside of the sebaceous gland inside of cells. So through this process, the cells actually rupture and when the cells rupture, they release sebum into the sebaceous gland and then within the sebaceous gland. It pushes that sebum out through the follicle up on the scalp and through the hair, shaft and down the hair shaft right and the way that you are able to evenly distribute that sebum down the hair. Shaft is through combing and brushing the hair. While the hair is dry because water and oil do not mix right, they they just don't they just don't they're, not mixing, and it's not emulsifying with your household water or with your tap water or with your purified water or with your shower water, is not emulsifying. The sebum is not emulsifying with that type of water. It does not. When we are talking about these cells rupturing, they are constantly replacing their self through a system called mitosis, and we all learned about mitosis when we was in school like high school middle school. I don't remember, but i know i learned about mitosis in high school or middle school. I know they want, like i said once the cells rupture and the see once the cells, rupture and the sebum is released, the process of mitosis begins and the cells begin to replace themselves and the process continues again, and this is all over the body the scalp Has a lot of sebaceous glands in this photo here you can see a picture of the sebaceous gland on the scalp, and this is where the sebum and the natural oil that black women's body produces just like every other race walk in the face of this earth. Lastly, a lot of times most women will think, like. Oh, my scalp isn't producing oil, it's so dry. Oh my god, my scalp is so dry. Well, guess what there's something else that we need to talk about most of the time when you see what appears to be dry scalp, it's not really dry scalp, because what do you determine is dry scalp, most people look at any type of flaking white crust. Build up or anything like that, oh this is dandruff. No dandruff is classified as really big flakes, like i'm talking like corn flakes okay, like like family size, cornflakes, big, super size, double sized amplified. Big cornflakes is what dandruff actually looks like, but most women who think that they have dandruff actually have smaller like palettes or smaller pieces of dry skin, and what that actually is is calcified sebum. How well there is an acid right here that i'm not about to say, because i'm just not, but this is the name of the acid that is produced within the sebaceous gland, and we have these cells that produce sebum and once they're produced mitosis sets in and They reproduce like very actively, but as these cells rupture, some people, depending on your body, depending on what you're putting in the body like what you're eating, depending on how often you're shampooing your hair and things of that nature, this will determine the amount of calcified sebum. You have on the scalp because a lot of times it's not dry, scalp a lot of times. It'S not dandruff, you guys a lot of times. It'S just calcified, sebum oil. You know that thing that most people think black women don't have yet it calcifies, because guess what the cells are constantly rupturing right within the sebaceous gland and if they rupture too much and if there's an overproduction of sebum or if the sebum isn't being removed properly, Then the body's like okay, i can fix that because god is a masterful creator and has a response and a solution for everything when it comes to the body right. Different forms of cyboric dermatitis come from an infection within the sebaceous gland, and this infection comes from an overproduction of sebum combined with this acid. And if you put a cap on top of the follicle with coconut oil, petroleum, like blue magic, that everybody loves or any conditioner, that you're rubbing into the scalp or any kaminogenic oil or butter or any type of product that you're putting on the on the scalp And on the hairs follicle, this will directly lead to an infection within the sebaceous gland because it's capped so remember within your scalp. You have a sebaceous gland with cells that are constantly rupturing and pushing oil out. But if you're constantly greasing your scalp and putting petroleum-based products on there, it can never come out. This is why a lot of times and don't get me wrong. A lot of people have this same type of pattern. Baldness. We talk about it within a girl vip, but a lot of people have this, but it is mainly because a lot of women do not cleanse their scalp properly. Sex hormones can drastically decrease the amount of sebum production that you have but anagens. They actually increase the amount of sebum production that you have and if you want a little bit more information on what types of fruits and vegetables and what types of herbs you should take to give your body the natural set of amino acids and to uptake and Speed up your sebum production, then i really recommend that you go ahead and download this ebook it'll give you like a bomb diet to increase your sebum production to speed up your hair growth cycle. All of that stuff, and i mean if you really need some help. Drawing if you really need some serious help join my seven day challenge. All of the links are in the description box below and i will see you guys really soon bye and stop saying that. I'M sorry, you know i'm um, i'm a gemini, slash cancer! Listen! That was all nice and stuff, but stop greasing your scalp. I don't care who mama auntie, sister cousin-in-law sister tracy said that black women's hair don't produce oil. She don't know what she's talking about. It'S not true, because guess what your dog, your dog, your dog's skin, produce oil, you, okay, your cat, skin produce oil, every mammal, walking the face of this earth has a sebaceous gland. So you mean to tell me: god gave your dog a sebaceous gland, but he was like black women. You can't have no sebaceous way. You can't have no oil coming off your skin, we're not we sorry black girls, you got. You got blood already. You got, but you got skin, you got curly hair you're, not getting no sebaceous gland. So don't ask me, i don't think i don't think that's how it went, but i mean i don't know. I could be wrong. See you later. Ah

Cyn Doll: Hey loves thanks so much for watching ! I hope this video helped! I’m not arguing in the comments. If you want to believe God didn’t give you enough and you can do it better with Blue magic or coconut oil do you boo. eBook I spoke about. https://www.cynsmith.guru/product-page/amino-acids-101

Sandra E: Hey Cyn.. Ive been there done that with oils. My scalp was going nuts, hair was weighed down like a wet cat, so I buckled down and did your 7 day challenge early last year and let me tell you ☝ its the TRUTH !! Different strokes for different folks. Its been over a year now, and I no longer put oil on my scalp, and hair is growing, flowing and looking mighty fine without it .

Sound Reign: Hey Cyn gurl, I haven’t seen you in forever. You still out here slaying. Am trying to get back on track. So happy my scalp is feels healthier then ever after all I’ve been through with suffering all them health issue flare ups‍♀️. I had to use a mixture of clove oil and almond oil on my scalp due to an infection that I developed while I wasn’t able to cleanse my scalp for a very long period of time because my health went from bad to worst right after my meeting with you, but my scalp has been doing really well with your regimen with the clove oil mix along with antibiotics and medicated shampoo. Am praying and believing that things will be ok from here on out.

Pam G: This video comes right on time, 2 weeks ago I had some itchiness and dry flakes after going to the salon for a blow dry. I thought either is because I switched the products, I started using Moroccanoil hydrate line with oil, or I have a fungus. Yesterday I went for my appointment I asked my hairdresser about it she asked me if I put anything on it I replied no, she had a look on it and said it was perfectly fine. Mind you, I had already bought Nizoral shampoo for mt hairdresser to use it. Once she saw the shampoo she strongly advise me not to because it would destroy my hair. This the importance of visiting a salon frequently and having a routine. Thank you for your tips my hair has been improving and growing tremendously well. P.S: By the way the Moroccanoil products it was based on your Amazon suggestions and my low porosity is absolutely in love with. Thank you

JessSyd89: Just downloaded the ebook and it is extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.

WLHMC ALLNATURAL: Oils have helped me to grow out my hair, l literally use hot oil on scalp for 5 days and my hair grew out. I honestly think when one wants to put oil on scalp , it must be done when scalp is cleansed, to allow the oils to penetrate a clean scalp.

Trina Time All the Time: Hey Cyn hemp oil is the bomb I finally got it and I figured out I can use it like you said and also use it even though I’m not going to wash my hair my hair feels so good

sheilaw1983: The end was hilarious! Thank you for continuing to share despite the grandchildren out here talking mess.

Hybrid InfoDesk: I sometimes use a very heavy jbco hair grease. It helps weight my hair which is very soft, fine and long. By day 1 1/2 to 2 its already absorbed into my hair. And, the texture feels like silk. What I don't do is wet my hair often. I hate wet hair it feels creepy and it takes too long to dry. I have normal porosity hair. My scalp doesn't itch that often and I never have dandruff or any scalp flaking or issues. One size does not fit all.

Hybrid InfoDesk: Absolutely wrong, all through out childhood my mother who was a beautician also oiled my hair. My hair was always waist length. What she didn't do was wash my hair every week. I got my hair washed, lucky if every 3 weeks but sometimes once a month. She styled, combed and did my hair every day. What's killing your natural oil is washing too much and often.

Jmaxx196: I have not greased my scalp since September 2021 and it feels so great not too. My pillow and bedsheets used to have so much oil on them.

Cyn Doll: I’m tired of deleting comments! if you want to grease your scalp do it boo boo! This is my response to all that make the comment: it works for me so forget what your talking about.” Girl it’s takes hair weathering 5-25 years to set in. There is a reason most black women bald and thin in the same places around the same age. You don’t have to announce it to the world if you don’t agree don’t watch. This is why nobody wants to help. You want to fight the one giving you the real as you pay for BS just to contact us later for help.❤️When you start seeing the effects in your later years don’t say no one warned you. I treat women in their 60’s that taught that mess in the first place on a daily. You are slowly killing your follicles and you will see results that can not be reversed. Thanks for watching! Use your grease boo! Do you boo boo!❤️❤️

Kay Love: I actually have a lot of oils. If I just water rinse my hair it lays flat like gel is in it. I have thick 4C hair to. It is just if you wear it curly it takes longer for it to get to ends after washing it with shampoos.

Sapphire Relaxed Hair: FAMILY SIZE CORN FLAKES! Thank you much. Still Learning, Thank you sooooooooooo much Cyndoll God Bless you

Gill Perry: ‍♀️Cyn spittin truths right here ‍✔️✔️✔️

LadyDarkSky: someone has to tell these dermotologists to STOP prescribing TGEL for people all it does is kill your hair >.<

Pam G: Hi Cyn I bought your Low porosity book on Friday and downloaded it. For some reason the links suggesting the products are not working. ♥️

Aphrik: Hey Cyn, I haven't watched you in a while. I had to get off hair yt for a while. But, do you know anything about lichen planopilaris? I have bald spots all over my afro and my scalp, no matter how clean or left alone it is is always extremely itchy dry and painful

R Mobley: I cam honestly say that I don't oil my scalp because it's not dry or itchy and I don't have flakes. I moisturize my hair but not my scalp it's oily on it's own.

J Man: Great informative video

kay Robins: Grease might not work for you but alot of black people grew up on grease and alot of the hair was down our backs also people have different scalp conditions some are dryer then others therefore people do whats best for you

rose violet: The only time I oil/grease my scalp is right before wash day. I let it sit for a little bit then I shampoo.

TatyanaThelisa: My mom has naturally oily hair and scalp but I don’t for some reason my hair is naturally dry but my mom can straighten her hair and a week later her hair will be oily so she’ll have to wear slick ponytails as for me I can’t create oil in my scalp to go down my hair strands to save my life

Jemilla Barakaat: I was wondering why she was talking like that, but realize we have people all over the world watching these vids. English isn't their 1st language, so her extra annunciation is in order

Horace Henderson: That's some great information

Special Turnage: Love your channel

Willeneful: Love this and you Cyn

Queen Irene Mckibbens: Love your hair sis

Patricia Fuller: Your braids are rocking you are beautiful great advice and again thumbs up too you

Queen Irene Mckibbens: Love your nails sis

Trina Time All the Time: Cause God is a masterful creator

Love Self: I will never look at Kelloggs corn flakes the same. Lol!!!

bdm72257: Hey love! Teach it gurl teach it!!!

Tanya Johnson: God is a Masterful Creator …♥️ that‼️

Chelle: Hey Cyn! So ready!

JOHANNA MICHAEL: Throwing away the blue magic as we speak

SugaT 2Sweet4u: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

MrsPrissy: It’s the hand gestures and animated motion for me.

Raven deberry: Okay but due to our hair texture if we start treating our hair white it will also affect hair growth so there’s no winning.

Trina Time All the Time:

Toni90: Ladies check out Curly Chemistry on YouTube she’s a chemist and has several videos talking about hair grease and oil on the scalp

T: "Sweat glands are found throughout the skin but are MORE numerous in areas such as the soles of the feet, palms of the hand, armpits and groin." I think she said hand & feet don't have sweat glands.. just in case. Thanks for the vid; I've never heard that black women didn't produce oil in scalp. Whether or not you need to oil your scalp should depend on your scalps condition. If it's dry (just like some of us have dry, combo, oil &/or sensitive) you will have a different routine than someone with overactive sweat glands. I would suggest oiling scalp as needed. If you over do/clog your pores then you're likely to create the issues she mentioned.

So Jalea Nicole: Hey.
