Hi, I'm Julia and I'm a hair stylist of Los Angeles, California, and today I'm going to tell you about the best products to use on a ponytail. This is Jenna my model. She has finer texture hair, so some of the products I'm going to be talking about are especially good for finer hair. So keep that in mind for Jenna. What I did is I wash your hair with volumizing, shampoo and conditioner. That'S something you want to do. If you have finer hair, if you have a little bit coarser hair, you're, probably gon na - want to use a smoothing, shampoo and conditioner any brand will work just go ahead and do that and then what her hair was wet. I went ahead and I prepped it with a volumizing spray. I liked volumizing products and I liked them more in a spray format, because then you can get right at the root. It'S the best thing for fine hair. So basically, what I do is I'll go section by section when the hair is wet and just do a light spray. Nothing too crazy. You don't want to put too much product on there, because if you have finer hair, it will weigh it down after a volumizing spray. I used a blowout spray. It'S basically just a blow-drying spray that you can get. That'S gon na help smooth the blowout that you're gon na do before you put the hair in a ponytail. So what I do with this when her hair is damp, is I take it again section by section they don't need to be specific sections. You can just grab them and do a light mist. Let it fall down over the mid lengths and ends. I don't need it on the root. That'S where the volumizing spray goes. So, after that I went ahead and I blow-dry Jenna's hair, and then I went ahead and brush through it a little bit and depending on how you want your ponytail to look. You may want some volume in it and, if you're gon na go ahead and do that, I, like a dust powder, there's a bunch of brands that are out there. This is a really cool product and you can put it on the root and basically tees, and it gives you a lot of lift and a lot of hold, but it doesn't give you the harshness that sometimes the hairspray can give you a few tees with it. What I do is, I distribute the powder and a little atomizer, and this helps to distribute the product directly at the root, which is where I want it. So what I do is I take her hair section by section: do a light spray and then I go through and I tease her hair and basically I work from top to bottom down and then I have some really nice tees. A really nice lift that I can go in and use before my ponytail when I'm finishing my ponytail once I've got it back, I'm gon na doing slightly haphazard here, real quick, so you can just see once you pull it back. You can always finish the ponytail with a little bit of a serum. You always want to start with a small amount of serum versus a lot, because you can always add more. You can't really take it away. I like to use a little bit of it on the end of the ponytail. So if you have any split ends, if you have anything, that's a little bit dry, it'll, smooth it out and then a white hold hairspray just to sort of spray over the top. Is gon na help hold any flyaways down, so those are some good products to use for a ponytail thanks.
