Hi I'm ray Donna from boys and girls hairstyles calm. Today I have Bailey with me we're going to do an updo on her, it's her junior prom. So I just wanted to show you guys what we was going to do. Um we just curled it before. Just in a loose curl and what I wanted to do first is just turn her into the mirror, and I do have this more rock, and while I wanted you guys to see, this just makes it really shiny and it's the Moroccan oil light, and I just Take one squared of that rub it into my hands and then just come through all of her hair, and it just makes it really shiny. Okay, just go all the way through it. Okay, then we have another product that I'm going to use. This is for a big sexy hair and it's called big boost and it has its as a shine and v as a whole. What I'm going to do is just take a little bit of that and just rub it in my fingers, and I just come in in this front part just so: there's no little hairs like flying out right there, just so it's kind of really smooth right there. Okay, now, my next thing - I'm going to do, is take a section up here on this top hold up here tight and I have a bristle brush. That'S really thick like really close together. Okay, I'm just going to make a base right there like that comment. Okay, just take sections down. Okay, I just sprayed some hairspray in between that. So I'm going down to about the base of her neck okay, then I just flip those pieces over it's going to look funky for a minute, but we're all right. Okay, then we're going to hold this up same thing, we're going to make a base right there as we backcomb it. I found that this brush, really I'm holding a bat coming really really well. Okay, just flip that over okay again, it looks kind of funny right now, but we'll get it fixed. We just need to get the base in there. Okay and then just hold this okay. You know just that care same thing. The other reason I like that coming is when you go to put bobby pins in that back home. You know that that combing helps it stay in okay. So now we're gon na look into the mirror: she's thinking that she's, like, oh goodness, okay! So I'm just going to take my fingernails, I'm just going to smooth this out. Okay, I want some hair left out on the site, so just decide how much hair you want out, and then this up here just make sure that this is. You know smooth so for her. You know she's going to have a little bit of a of some volume up here, but not great great, big, okay and then, hopefully, the mirror. You can see from this side I'm going to take this piece here, I'm just going to kind of twist this back to make sure we're looking okay. So I'm just going to twist that kind of under okay, I'm going to take my bobby pin in here internally. Okay in this way, you push that in okay, now I'm going to do the other side and then I'll show you what what we're going to do doing that higher through here, where you see that or is that? Okay? Is that going to be good? Okay, this side, we want some down on your face and I just want this to be loose. You know so it's not going to be okay, so this site see that I'm just making this loose then look in the mirror just make sure both sides are even I'm going to bring my bobby pin in this way and slide it in okay. So since there's warning around this side, I'm just going to take another bobby pin and go back this other way. So what cross was like an X just to hold that a little bit better? You know I'm just going to spray this in please. Okay, now all of this hair in between these two sides, what I'm going to do is just grab all I'm going to grab a clip and just clip that out of the way for now. Okay, now all this hair in the middle, I'm going to take a little elastic end, just a clear one. So these two sides I'm just going to leave out this middle piece, I'm just going to put an elastic band here and again it doesn't have to be really tight, just kind of loose. That'S fine! Okay! Now we're going to start pinning which, when baby gets done, I'm doing this she's going to have tons of fun okay. So what I'm going to do first is brain. Actually, let's bring this up. First, just going to take little sections and I'm just going to start bringing this straight up and twist it in you're just kind of twist that hair, then you know see this has fallen here, so you just grab it. Pin that up. So you just kind of go with the hair. You just kind of go with the flow wherever it's wherever it feels like it needs to go, that's what's fun about updos. Is you just go with it? Okay, now on this side drop me boom to the mirror site. I'M going to spring this back just going to twist this okay, then I'm going to bring my bobby pin in this way. That'S what's nice about already having these curls in there and if we need to curl a little bit after we can, but it just makes these curls these loose. Curls, look really good! Okay, I'm just going to bring that into the middle, so you can just put it wherever you know. It looks good. Take these curls back over this way. Okay, now this other slide. Okay, I'm going to bring and you can see it's not close to our ear on this other side, it's a little bit back, so you want to make sure both sides are even okay, so you can just kind of twist this I'm just going to kind of Twist that over those bobby pins bobby pin that down okay, I'm going to take this hair, stick it there. This is the hair that I had just pinned back with that bobby pin just because her hair's long, okay, now the side. Okay, that's too big of a piece, so I'm just going to take this just going to kind of twist this underneath I can decide, keep dropping them. Okay, I'm just going to twist this and I'm going to bring this one more underneath this way. You know this side see you can see right here, there's hair here and it's a little bit more bare this way, I'm going to take this hair across this way, I'm going to pin it underneath I'm going to pin that twice bobby, pin over bobby pin like An egg okay: now they are the fluff over here you can see on this side. That'S twisted this way so alternative. So you can see what I'm doing so, I'm just going to twist this, how we stick that in and then that bottom just go ahead and stick a bobby pin there. Okay, now that you can see, there's leftover hair here, I'm just going to take that grab. Not the very ends, but like the middle just going to twist that up again with this hair also and there you know, there's going to be a little a couple, little pieces out and we'll just take the flat iron to that and just curl them a tiny Bit: okay: now I'm going to take this hair out from the top, and I'm going to start taking pieces from here and again just to make that smooth, and then you just start wrapping that hair around put that bobby pin in that way. Okay, now this middle piece, you just take that and start twisting that stick the bobby pin in there together. We just want this loose, so you don't have to have anything so so tight. Okay, then, this side same thing just twist that okay, so I'm going to show you this back, so this is looking really pretty this side. I want to bring some more hair up this way. You know what we're to this side just a little bit just so. It'S more even so, just pull that hair over a little bit. Okay, so on this side has just a little bit more hair than this other side. So what I'm going to do is take this just wrap it around. Stick that bobby pin in there that's going to match this side a little better. Now. What I'm going to do is take my iron and just take these few little pieces and I'm just going to wrap this around, and these ends I'm just going to curl a tiny bit. Okay, now take a look at out in front well, you're, pretty you make that! Do it good okay! So what I'm going to do this right here is a tiny bit um, which you can see that one's a little bit tighter just going to grab this tiny bit just take another bobby pin and stick that in actually I'm going to do one more just so Even down okay, I'm just going to spray this okay, then I'm going to just turn her around slow. So you can see the front sides back we're just bay leaf and then I'll actually guys. I didn't see this, but I'm going to just curl this, a tiny bit there. We go. That'S just a little straight okay, you know what I can turn this okay, hopefully that helps showing how to do an updo thanks.

Morgan Crawford: Gorgeous style! Thanks for the video and tips on how you did this style! I always love seeing how other stylists put updos together :)  I think chignons were very popular for proms this year- we saw a lot come in asking for similar styles at my salon. It also works perfect for weddings!

Sarah Carlstedt: That looks so pretty! I did a very similar updo on my client for a wedding last week but her hair was a lot shorter and I struggled a little bit. I'm still new to updo's but I want to keep learning! Thank you for your videos! Can you maybe do an updo on shoulder length hair also?
