Welcome back everyone, Outlander has quickly become one of my favorite TV shows out there. So today I want to teach you three beautiful updos from several of the ladies in the cast will go from easiest to hardest, starting with geillis than Jenny. And finally, the fair Letitia watch the whole video to see all three or go to the time stamps indicated. If you want to see one particular style for galas is hair that she wears at the beginning of the gathering. Episode you'll need several bobby pins and one small hair elastic comb, your hair, smooth, so there's no flyaways or tangles and then gather the top half of your hair, like this hold it like a ponytail and then twist the section tightly once you've got it twisted pretty Good begin spiraling, this tail of hair around itself. This is usually called a ballet bun or Cinnabon technique using bobby pins, secure the spiral to your head by hooking, some head hair and some bun hair with every pin and then pushing the pin in underneath the forming bun secure, pin about every third to half circle Around the bun keep wrapping the tail of hair around the forming bun and pinning until you reach the hair ends, at which time you should tuck them, underneath the bun to hide them and then pin securely now pick up the rest of your hair. Still hanging free comb it up towards the bun split it in half and then rope braid it in an upwards direction. Rope braiding involves twisting each half in one direction and then twisting together in the opposite direction. Since I'm left-handed, I find it easier to do if I twist the section in my life tan twist, the two together in the opposite direction: 180 degrees, so that they switch places twist. The new left-hand section and so forth. Pulling the braid up as you go is important for keeping the hair at the back of your head, smooth, keep rotating to the ends and then secure the braid with your elastic now wrap the braid around the outside of the bun and pin it down. Use a pin every third of a circle or so and tuck and pin the ends of the braid to hide them. You'Re finished rope. Braid bun should look something like this. The next style is Jenny's hair from the first episode of lallybroch. For this, one you'll also need bobby pins and three elastics this time. First pick up the top half of your hair, then split this into three parts and English braid to the ends. That'S just the formal name for a three strand: braid secure the ends of the braid with a small elastic now spiral the braid around the base. Again, just like we did with the twisted hair section and Gayle's the style in the braid down as you go and tuck and pin the ends to hide them once you get there with the rest of your hair, split it in half and comb smooth for each Half pull it to the side, so that's behind your earlobe and English braid pulling the braid upward as you go to keep the roots smooth later when we add this braid to the bun. Otherwise, if you direct the braid downward as you do it, there will be some unsightly bumps around the start of the braid. A good rule of thumb for braiding, hair styles in general, is that you always want to pull the forming braid in the direction. It will eventually sit in the finished product finish both these braids to the ends and secure with a small elastic. Now pull the left braid up along the right side of the bun and pin so that the braid tail is hanging in front of your face. Then pull the right braid up along the left side of the bun and pin as well cross the braids around the front of the bun pin then wrap them around the size of the bun. Again, if you still have some braid left at this point, wrap them around the back of the bun but pass them underneath the cross sections in the back, so that those parts stay visible, continue, wrapping and pinning the braids until you reach the ends, at which point You should tuck them underneath the bun and pin securely, and with that you have Jenny's lallybroch hair. The third. If final style, we'll do today is laticious curl nest as worn at castle leoch. When the household gathers to listen to the singer. This one takes some time and skill, so I think it's best if you get someone else to do it on you, but if you're bent on doing this yourself start by sectioning off a circle of hair in the back of your head, like I just showed you Tie the section with a hair tie for now to keep it all together, now grab a section at the front of your head about an inch wide spanning between your forehead and this ponytailed circle. Split it into three parts so that you have an inside section near as the ponytail, a middle section and an outside section nearest your forehead pass, the outside section under the middle, then the inside section under the middle now grab some more hair immediately. Next, to these sections, add it to the outside strand pass under the middle, don't add any hair to the inside strand and just braid it under the middle, add some more hair to the outside strand, braid, it the inside strand and so forth. This is called Dutch lace braiding, because you're passing strands underneath the middle, like in a Dutch braid, but only adding new hair to one side of the braid, which is a lace technique, continue forming this lace braid around the ponytailed circle, as you go, try to keep The braid positioned right on the outside of the circle and not farther out beyond the hair parting. The hardest part of doing this lace braid for me, is coming back up the other side of your head. I actually had to do this multiple times off-camera before I got it to look nice. So again, I really recommend getting someone else to do this for you, but if you're doing it yourself just be sure to really pull the braid tight as you're forming it. Comb smooth the free hair as you're, adding it in and flip your head forwards, so that the free hair falls down around your face and you can easily find your next section. You'Ll also need to switch the position of your hands somewhere at the back of your head, as you begin to braid up along the other side of your head, so switch very slowly so that you can remember which strands are outside and inside and which strand you. Just braid it under once you've added in all the free-hanging here finish the braid to the ends and secure with a small elastic, pin this braid tail across the top of your head, so that it lays beside the beginning of the lace, braid and then keep pinning It along the rest of the lace braid until you reach the ends at this point, tuck the ends underneath the lace, braid and pin securely. You now have a braid crown surrounding a ponytail of hair. This next part is easier and only takes some time and a lot of bobby pins take out the ponytail holder and let this hair fall forward grab a small section at the back and if you have straight hair, like me, curl this section with a curling iron For several seconds, it doesn't need to be a really pretty girl because we're just going to pin this hair up later, but it's easier to form coiled sections of hair if the hair is curled, so either utilize, your natural curly, texture or add curls to straight hair. Like this, keep going until you curled all the free hanging, hair now start picking up these sections that you curled coil them around two fingers and pin to your head inside the crown bun do this with every curled strand and use a mirror to get an even Distribution, when you have all the curls pinned, do a last mirror check to make sure there aren't any stray bits poking out in ways you don't like and make sure the curls look, even once you like that, you're all done. Anna's CozyCorner: I love how multi-wearable these are :) cute formal look, guest wedding look or if you just want to wear your hair up differently at work

Katrina C. Elssler: Jenny's undo has just become my holy grail go-to style!! It's so simple and elegant! Thank you so much!! :D

Elise Champenois: I did Jenny's hairstyle today for work and my team workers were amazed by how gorgeous and intricate it looked. Thank you so much, they all think I'm a genius and this hair put some epicness in my day :)

Nananah86: It amazes me how great your hair turns out with these insane hairdos that you do on yourself! Must take lots of practice!

aliciabrillante: I tried the second style and it came out so pretty!!!!!!! I feel like a princess❤️ I have 4A texture hair so I modified it by doing a flat English braid into each section to keep the hair from looking puffy and it is so pretty. I subscribed and want to keep trying more styles. You are a fantastic teacher!!!

Cairistiona O’Loughlin: I have no idea how your arms just don't give up.

QueenOfAmber: Ah a fellow Outlander lover. :) Jenny's updo is my favorite out of the three.

Christina Skinner: Wonderful tutorial!!! Thanks so much. I'm looking for new ways to do my daughter's buns for dance class. Love these!

LaDollyVita33: I LOVE the last one! I mean I love all of them, but the last one is just stunning!

wanda s: Love outlander series and love all 8 books, hoping the series continues for a long time

Anna Katharine Mansfield: I came to YouTube specifically looking for Jenny Murray's style- thanks for making it so easy!

Malvita: Omg, this is amazing! I love Outlander and have been wondering about some of the hairstyles quite a bit, please do more of them, they're great, just like you. Thank you so much!!

Saddle Ridge: I wish I could do these styles so they look full when they are done, but I have extremely thin hair and all of it together only makes a really skinny braid. :(. Thanks for the video, you did a wonderful job making it.

Sophie Jones: it's so relaxing watching you do this, I keep watching videos for styles I can't actually do lol. I wear my hair just below my shoulder and cut in two layers, because it's so thick it would be too much of a pain if it were longer. my braids are nowhere near long enough for this stuff. I don't struggle with volume, but as I have a square face I like to distribute the volume to the top of my head. It's summer right now, so I'm wearing straw hats a lot. I use pins to keep the hats on, so I need a hair structure to pin into on the crown of my head. The Valkyrie half-updo you taught has been my go-to style for a week now, because that French braid gives me volume up top that won't get crushed under the hat and the bun is perfect for the hat pin! My French braids are kind of bad right now, but doing it up again every other day means I'm getting better! do I dare get an instagram account?

lo!: you should do a tutorial on how to accomplish Claire's curls!

MrsBrit1: Omg, I devoured outlander in a day. How beautiful was season 1? I neeeeeed the rest,ASAP! I need the books, too! Wow, so good!

Tbehartoo: You make this look so easy! Love them all. Thanks for doing this

Princess Jellyfish: Still the queen of youtube hair tutorials. :) These look lovely!

Nanouschka R. 🐣: You look like a Renaissance woman with these beautiful hairstyles!

Marcia Bennett: Very cool.  I wish that I had enough hair to do these styles.  Maybe in my next life.

Heather B: I grew up apostolic (so really long hair lol. Most women I know have never cut it in their life) these are the absolute best hair tutorials I have seen! And I can use them for run fair hair too!

Alejandra Rico: Thank you so much for sharing these three hairstyles! I wish I could wear them, but I have just too much hair for any updo. Anyway, it is always a pleasure seeing your clever fingers do their magic on your hair. Hope you will share soon more Hobbit/LOTR/fantasy hairstyles

wanda upton: Great job !Your very talented ! And you can get pen curled with Bobby pens on some of the older styles .

Alma Flores: thank you so much for making this video! i loved all of these hair styles (especially Jenny's hair, though after seeing her i could never imagine jenny any other way aside from tv jenny lol) and wondered how to accomplish the look. thank you again! you have very lovely hair :)

Patricia Garcia: All 3 styles are beautiful. Now I finally what my mom meant when she said my curly hair is a beautiful gift.

Heidi Hussainabad: I'm really enjoying these tutorials of yours - even if so far I've only managed to master rope braids.  That's still more adventurous that I've been for while. Great work.

LadyStarkgaryen: So glad you do Outlander tutorials :) the books are my favorites

Paper Plane: Jenny's hairstyle is abolutely gorgeous, thanks for the tutorial

E Lath: LOVE this video and Outlander. I'm part of a living history group and everyone basically puts on a simple hair covering. I've been trying to figure out time appropriate everyday hair styles. Outlander is the correct time and place for what I need but is it accurate? I'd love to see more 17th and 18th century accurate styles

Ryn: Outlander rules! Thanks for making this video!

Susan Whalen: Fabulous up do's! I am in my 60's with a full head of very straight but shiny brown hair. I use your ideas and get loads of compliments.

MusicfromMarrs: I love that you do these hairstyles yourself. I grew up with 2 brothers and my mom doesn’t know how to braid. Very few of my friends braided their hair, so I’m most adept at braiding my own hair. A friend braided my hair back in January, and she pulled it tightly - which I guess is the norm - but it kind of hurt! It still liked great in any case, it’s been helpful to learn more braiding techniques from the vantage of a one person stylist and wearer.

Marie: I wear the Geillis hairstyle for my kitchen training. I love it!

babablacksheepdog: I think for girls struggling to do the Letitia hairstyle on themselves, you can fake it by doing the pin-curls first and leaving some hair out, braiding in a regular 3-strand braid, and then wrapping it around the pin-curls. It won't look exactly the same, but it will be close enough.

Omnio: My mom loves watching outlander! I think I’ll try one of these on her hair soon, thanks!

Nancy Bee: You are AMAZINGLY TALENTED! Loved this tutorial!

Mikayla Dawn: You are so relatable and kind! The best hair tutorials I’ve ever found!

Thistle Whisper: Thank you for not using extensions, thus creating a more simple, wearable version for everyday women. My hair texture and thickness is just like yours.

Julie Daniels: Great Job!! By the way you have BEAUTIFUL hair ☺ the color is gorgeous! I also love your Lagretha hair styles and the Viking braids

Galini Begali: thank you so much for all your tutorial videos!!! you are amazing, love your channel!!!

Steampunkunicorn: I love these. Can't wait to try them!

Art by Susan Frech-Sims: I love watching these videos. My hair is naturally curly and doesn’t like to grow fast. It is just past my shoulders and I am refraining from curling/straightening it at all so it will grow! Hopefully I can wear ones of these by next fall!

Gill E Shaw: I think they are all really lovely thankyou for showing me.

Aorenai: Beautifully done!

EDeadknight: I really like and enjoy your videos, I've been following you for a while now and have learnt a lot! Thank you so much for all your videos, you are awesome

Lisa Maria Riedel: Beautiful Hairstyles! You are so talentet! I will try Them. Grettings from Germany!

Dressing Like Jane Eyre: Someone else who's left-handed! That's so cool! Do you find it easier to Dutch braid instead of French or is that just me?

Valeera: Letitia has always been my favorite Outlander character.

Zelda Keinzley: Outlander way to go that looks so cool,my grand daughter will love the braids

Fangro: I Love that. unfortunately I don't have so many hair to do this

Maureen B: Great tute! The first two don't look as hard when you show us how....agree the last one would be best done by a friend who knows how to make cornrows :)

Tammy Spencer: Just discovered this video on the OutlanderCast blog...great tutorial! I wish my hair were long enough to do these styles...my daughters both have long hair, so I'll send it to them.

Tilda Hadley: These are amazing thankyou so much! xx
