So many viewers are asking for short hairstyles, or styles that can be done on one's self. Since I have short hair, I have decided to show some of the hairstyles I do on my own. This one uses a flat iron and an alternating (up-and-down) twist motion with the wrist to create the waves. It is super cute, adds volume, and holds up well. (Don't forget to use heat protectant when using irons!)

Feel free to tag your own photos of this hairstyle with: #CGHFlatIronWaves

Enjoy the tutorial!

Hey. Happy Halloween., Hope everybody has a good time trick or treating tonight.. We are going to demo the flat iron waves today.. I had my hair done like this in a video we did about a week ago, and everyone commented and wants to know how to do. It., So I'm going to demo. So, as you already can tell I sectioned it three different times. And I've done the bottom section and the middle section at this point. - And this is my top section - that I have a rubber band on top.. So I'm just going to start by letting the top section down., And this is just the way my hair looks when I'm first doing it in the morning.. I just got out of the shower and blow dried it.. So I'm going to section off where I want the part to land. And then I'm taking my flat iron -- and it's a one inch flat iron.. This is just one. I got at Walmart. Nothing fancy. And you're, going to take your flat iron and a little section of hair. In the front I'll do smaller sections than in back.. But the motion you're going to do with your wrist is turn turn turn., So think top bottom top bottom., I'm going to go, put it in the root and turn it to the bottom.. Now turn it towards ceiling.. Now turn it towards the floor towards the ceiling towards the floor until you run out of hair., And you can see it gives nice little wavy look. Now on the next piece of hair, I'm going to change it up a little bit and I'm going to start By turning it towards the ceiling, first. Ceiling floor ceiling floor so on and so forth down your hair. And this works even with really long hair.. It'S just going to take you longer to pull it through your flat iron., So you're just going to go continue to gather pieces., You can do them as big or as little as you want.. When I get towards the back, like I said, I'll grab a little bit chunkier pieces. And you can slow down. If you want the waves more defined., Don't forget to use heat protector on your hair. All the way down.. You can see that the waves are just starting to develop as we go along. And I wouldn't be too worried about it. It's supposed to be a little bit of a messy look.. It'S not supposed to be like super perfect., But if you get a section that you don't like the way the waves look just re-do. Like that, one. Don't love it at the end. So I'm just going to redo it. Keep on going all the way around.. You can see my hair's a little bit layered in the back. OK. Now normally I would look in the mirror at this point. My back mirror make sure the back looks right. I'll do that in a minute., And you just keep doing it.. So it gives a fun kind of wave without being -- can't remember, which way I went -- without being too overdone or too curly.. Again, when I get to the front, I start taking a little bit smaller pieces just so it has a little bit more defined. Curl by my face. And looks like maybe the last one., And then you can do whatever you want with it.. You can leave your bangs down. Swoop to the side.. Add a little hairspray. Fix the few spots that are not quite curly, enough. And you're good to go.

jaelinjanae: @kaitlyn0409 its a spray to protect the heat well most of it :)

CassP: I'm REALLY afraid that i'll burn my hair right off... I totally get how it works, but the thought of holding the flat iron on there for that long makes me a little paranoid to try this.

serena waldorf: your husband is so supportive... and you have a big family,,living happily together..

Lindsey Ramage: how long does this take

Isabelle Martinez: do you need a 1" flat iron? because i only have a two inch, and i could see that being a little harder, but still...

lesleyg98: This is really nice but on the back of your hair you should like straighten it first and them do the waves so the top wont be all that frizzy

Jessica McKechnie: Do You Pull The Hair When You Are Making It Wavy When You Do Is It Hard Or Light When You Do

Taylor Murphy: its protectant not protectERant...any ways this is adorable and it works perfectly!

Emma Sieger: I have that Straightener!

Elita M: You should grow your hair long! I wish i had your hair, i want wavy hair D:

Elissa Black: I love your hairstyles but I just think it's funny because I've never used. Heat protectent in my life an my hair isn't burnt or anything like that

IACO101: Can you do as video on how to flat iorn you hair straight? PLEASE RESPOND ;-)

Brianna Ramirez: It really doesn't matter, you have to figure out what temperature suits your hair! Whatever temperature works for her might not work the same for you

Mindy McKnight: @cynthiawong123 We always film on Saturday or Sunday mornings. My husband wears a suit six days a week ( work or church). Lately, Sunday mornings have been better.

kaitlyn0409: I think it works the same when you sleep with normal braids on.... oh, whats a heat protector??

Irish20122012: does this work if you a side bang and layers

DearInternet: started off good!

Crystal477: I wish my hair looked like that all the time. I can't stand my natural wave. It looks nothing like that.

kaitlyn0409: I think it works the same when you sleep with normal braids on....

Lydia Black: shes so nice! i wish she was my mum haha

nad gal: I have the same haircut as you!

australiabound135: darn you why is everyone in your family so pretty?!!

bubbles62ful: which version did you do? i just want to know, so that i can avoid doing it!

Kit-Kat Hodgin: What if you can't use hairspray?? My hair won't stay with hairspray!!

LollyOllyOlly: I love your bathroom :)

Shelina Shea: If You Have Medium To Thick Hair, Will This Make Your Hair Puffy?? I Really Wanna Do This For School But When I Used To Do This With Braids It Used To Come Out Puffy!! Will This??

Marisa: hey my friend showed me how to do this!!:) although the way I do it and the way she showed me it makes in more creased (if that made sense?) like it looks like really big crimps...?? (that probably didn't make sense either... oh well)

keyholes: It did turn out nicely, but it looks like your hair is naturally a bit wavy on it's own - could you not just scrunch it or 'plop' it into a towel? (Do a quick youtube search for 'plopping' - there's a lot of vids. It's a method of towel drying to help curls and waves.) I bet you'd be able to get the same look without the heat.

Meya Reed: I have that same straight iron except mine was expensive

jaylyn scott: omg thank you

Michelle Lim: FIRST VIEWER i love your channel!

michi020913: Can you show how to scrunch hair

Kendall Gay: whtas the gold on the inside of your flat iron? what heat protectant do you use? your hair was soking lol!

Brianna Ramirez: Then it has to be at about 350 or 400 degrees, if its lower your hair will probably frizz

Ashlee Morehead: how many times do you have to do all of your hairstyles before you actually film?? How many times do you have to film it until you actually get a video that you are happy with? lol. sorry :)

Angela Luther: I dont want to be rude, This hairstyle is amazing. But isn't that a wave with your flat iron? Not a curl??

EmmaBlahh: "Happy Halloween!" LOL!

Saniyah Fletcher: "About a week ago"
