-Hey everyone., I am Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles. And today I'm really excited because we have to guests in studio.. You guys may know Michelle Money from `` The Bachelor'' and `` Bachelor Pad.'', And then we have Laura Armstrong.. -Hello. -Who is not only Michelle's best friend., But also together. They have a YouTube channel called the `` MM and L Show.''. So I saw Michelle one day at get my kids' gymnastics, because our girls take gym together. And she was telling me about their YouTube channel.. So I checked it out. And I loved it., So I have asked them to come today to share a couple of secrets with you.. One is a great hair tutorial because of course, Michelle's a licensed cosmetologist. And then also another really fabulous beauty secret. That I have now discovered that you are going to want to. Try is this.. I am going to whip it out of my pocket. -The weapon. -It. Is this little tool right here.? It is called the PMD -- short for Personal Microderm Abrasion., But this is the home one.. So when you get it initially comes in a box like this. -And it has a plug to plug it, in. -And does have a plug that you have to plug it in to use it., But I don't have the plug on it. -Now. You used it right. -I use it all the time --, once a week. -And you love it right. -I love, it. -So, these guys, --, I saw their tutorial on it.. I thought I had to try. It -- got to myself a PMD. -Everyone who has got this, has loved it., -Tried it. Yes. -Everyone loves it., -All, good feedback. -So. The most important thing really is that you watch the DVD.. It explains exactly how to use it, because it's a very powerful tool. And you need to take it easy., You don't need to get crazy. -Yes.. One of the things I wondered was how it compared to professional microderm abrasion. So Laura. I know you're a professional --, -Yes. -- aesthetician., So I know it's easier because you can use at home and cheaper. -Yes. It'S a lot more convenient.. It'S a lot easier., So you would think it wouldn't be as result-driven., But it is.. I do professional microderm abrasions. All the time. And it's actually just as effective. And you get just as great results. -My skin --. I put my lotion on at night after I do it. And I'm like oh. -Well, it's so nice, because you can do this that 1:00 in the morning. If you want., -Yeah. -If, you've got a busy day a lot of times. You don't have the time to go in to the spa and get it done.. It'S just convenient on so many levels. -It's, 10 minutes.. Basically, it's like a little tiny buffer. And it's just going to --. You hold your skin like this., And you go in outward and upward motions just over your skin once really softly. And it buffs away the dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin, which then makes your skin create a new nice beautiful layer.. So it's going to create no more lines: -- your visible wrinkles and that kind of stuff is all going to be big old, honking, pores, --, gone., -It's, crazy. -I really did.. I saw their., You guys look at them.. They have the most amazing skin., -Thank you. -So had to try it., I did.. I tried it., Love, it. And then bonus for me --. My daughter has that teenage acne that she's got going on. -Yes. -So. We tried it on her forehead where her little acne is. And I swear.. I don't know what it is about - it., Not that it gets rid of the acne, but I think it just allows her acne cream to work better. -No. It really does clear up. Acne. -When, I use it on her -- adult supervision, please children., -Yes. -It really does work. really good. -The other really great benefit to this is that when you do a microderm and you are consistent with it, it really does allow the products you're using to penetrate Up to 80 % more., It's crazy. -Yeah. And I think you have to use less makeup. -Yes.. You don't have to. -I think because you don't have all the creases and crinkles and crevasses and stuff.. It'S like you smoothed everything out. -There is a smoother finish. -So. Then things just glide on a little bit better., So I really have enjoyed it.. So for those of you who don't know, I curled my hair a specific way on `` The Bachelor'' and have had a lot of people, ask how I did it.. So we are going to show you exactly how I did my hair on ``, The Bachelor'' on our beautiful model. -And Michelle's rocking the Michelle Money. Curls. -Yes. I am rocking them. -So. You can see the finished product. -Very cute. -How, beautiful, that is. -Very excited. -Thanks. -So, the first thing: -- Mindy's hair is clean dry and we flat ironed it.. So that is how you prepare it. And the last -- -Heat protectant. -I'm, going to section off her hair and have about this much to start with, which is probably an inch and a half to two inches of hair.. And you want to clip the rest of hair up so that it stays out of the way. Thanks love. And I'm going to take the section of hair. And I'm going to take --. This is a one-inch iron.. When my hair was longer, I used a bigger iron., But Mindy's hair is shorter., So I want to use a one-inch on her. And we love the hot tools -- Marcel iron.. What you want to do is run the iron over the hair. First, to warm it up. And then the trick here is starting the curl at the base.. So you want to get some good volume.. You want to start at the base. And then you're, slowly going to start adding hair., But the trick is you're going to leave about this much hair, out. You're not going to touch it. -It's about two inches -It's two and a half two inches two and a Half inches out. You're not even going to curl it, because your hair was already -- -Flat-ironed. And that's why we prepared the hair and flat-ironed at first so that it's already smooth beautiful and the way it should look at the end. -Laura and I are very into Effortless beauty., We really don't like to make our hair look like we tried too hard.. So one of our favorite tricks is to use the flat iron a lot whether before or after the curl., In this specific curl, we do it first.. It truly is one of our secret weapons --, the flat iron.. We use it for several things. -Several things. -So, I'm leaving a good amount of hair out and then releasing. So you're going to see it have a curl and then it goes straight.. So everyone knows we're kidnapping, Mindy and doing a full makeover. -Yep. -She doesn't know. -Hair eyebrows, skin. -Cut color --. Wait till you see what she looks like when we're done with her. -It's going to blow your mind. -If, you think she's beautiful now, -- -Minds will be blown after we're done with Mindy. -I think it sounds. Fabulous. [ MUSIC PLAYING ] -This is looking lovely. -The curl is holding amazing. Michelle you're doing an incredible job. -- -Thank you so much. -- on the MM technique. -Thank you., One of our faves.. Now sometimes if the curl is a little bit too curly for me.. While it's still hot I'll pull on it And it will pull some of the curl out. -And just know, it isn't going to look how you want it until the very end. -Yes. -Don't be alarmed. [, MUSIC PLAYING ] -I'm, going to turn you around. So people can see what we're doing around the front. -Because the front is extremely important. -Yes.. So one thing that I really like to do is over-direct the hair around the face. And what I mean by that is, when you're taking your section and pulling it out like 90 degrees, it's basically just 90 degrees from the scalp.. But if you're over-directing it you're going to actually pull this section a little bit more forward where you're going to get more of a drag once it hangs., So everyone's face shape and hair texture is different.. Sometimes this will work And on some people it doesn't.. So then, moving the iron down, I'm still bringing it forward. And then I'm leaving the ends out. And once we brush through this you'll, see how it does give it a little bit more volume around her face., This hair right around the hairline --. You have to be careful with.. I don't like to use too much product on it, because it's more fine. And it gets damaged, really easily.. So I'm not even going to put any hairspray on this section.. I am just going to -- and spend too much time on that section with heat. And moving right along.. Now, a lot of you guys probably have bangs. Every curl is --. How do you explain this --? You want to be really careful that you don't get too crazy and curl your bang up, weird. -No. -A lot of times, leaving your bangs natural is the best way to do. It. Leave the bangs alone.. Sometimes you can put a little bend in it, which I'll show you how to do. -Just at the end. -Yeah -It's, usually more flattering on your face, shape too, regardless of your face, shape, leaving the front and your bangs flatter, or with a bend. [ MUSIC PLAYING ] -As we can tell the bang is an issue. -Yes. -That's, where you use the flat iron to blend it into the rest of hair.. So what we're going to do is take each side and literally drag the iron it with a little kick on the end.. -We love, given it a little kick. -Just a little., And then you just want to blend it in.. You can't stop here., And this is gorgeous., But we're going to even soften that curl, a little bit more. So quickly running the iron over is going to take that curl a little bit more loose. [ MUSIC PLAYING ]. So one thing that I want to point out is that a lot of times this look where there's a little bit more drag as opposed to volume right here. It'S a lot more flattering on most face shapes. A lot of times. If you want to do this, look and you do the curl. And it's all curled well. A lot of times. What it does is make your head look bigger. -Yeah. -And so it's a really great technique to make that more of a bend than a curl by using the flat iron and giving it a little bit more length.. So Laura will now show you the finishing products.. We are obsessed with dry shampoo. -Obsessed. -And this truly finishes the whole look.. It gives it the beach texture --, not that these are beach waves, but it gives it that gritty dirty feel. -Yeah and it gives it volume.. For me, I don't want my hair --. I want my hair to have volume that makes it look thicker. You can play with it. Better. It stays in place. Better. -You, guys know. I love dry shampoo. -I know. We're going to have to try yours, out. -Yeah, try it. -We will., We'll try it out. -And again, even though it takes a little while to get the perfected. Look it last for days which is great. -And then. We also like to get the hair line. So we'll take the dry, shampoo and just lightly do around the hair -- the whole hairline, because that's where you start perspiring. [, INAUDIBLE ], I'm just going to -- -And then pomade. -Pomade. -And this is the beauty. -It's. One of our faves. - This is a product called Jonathan.. Well, it's by Jonathan., It's called Dirt. -I've heard of Dirt. Before. -We have purchased this at Sephora., But I am really sad to inform you that the last time I was there I didn't find it., But that doesn't mean anything. -I know. -I've heard it was at Ulta. -Maybe. They were out. Ulta. Hmm., I'm sure you can get it online., But it is the best pomade.. And how good does it smell -Ooh? It does smell, good. -It smells so good. -And I've tried so many., And this is my ultimate favorite.. It doesn't weight my hair down. -Yummy. -We like to just piece it out. -Piece it out. -Yeah Mindy's got some thick hair., So she can get a little more aggressive.. She could probably use about this much. And then what you want to do is blend it together. In your hands, like this., Warm up the product and get it to where you can do exactly what Laura is doing and piece it out.. You want to get that product in there -- give it that texture -- get some flyways., Especially work on the bangs and make sure that they're blending nicely. And hi. -Hi, my name is Mindy.. -My name is Vavoom. -I am so sexy. -Hi. -You look beautiful. -Oh. My gosh. I'm going to get the mirror, so you can see it. -Yay -I know. -Ooh. It looks good. -See how it's more like a soft loose -- -Yes. I, like the bangs, how they are there, but not there. -That's like what I just -- -I just jumped right out of bed and walked out the door. -I know. Barely had time to pull it together. -So. I honestly thought that it wasn't the nicest of hair styles, I love Mindy's usual style but this just wasn't good. I felt very uncomfortable watching this :(

Mindy McKnight: At the end I was ready to fall asleep because I was sooooo relaxed. I love all my fans and LOVE that you guys are so protective of me. But honestly we had spent the whole day with these ladies and even my #3 was laughing so hard she was crying. They weren't mean at all. I'm so sad it came off that way in the video.

Lane Harris: This was a very unpleasant video to watch. I felt like the whole video was commandeered. The style itself was nice, but no better than Mindy's normal day hairstyle. The way that the entire topic of hairstyling and beauty in general was addressed in this video seemed vapid and shallow. I think these ladies should be careful to seem more humble, and maybe work on not insulting their host (even indirectly). Lastly, I really dislike the idea of spending hours on my hair to look like I just fell out of bed. Effortless is nice, but this is in excess. I don't know, I just got a very "mean girls" taking over the playground vibe from this duo.

maddwitch: Why is it "effortless beauty" always takes so much effort? I wash my hair, spray on some leave-in conditioner, run trough some anti-friz serum and leave it alone, unless I've got something to dress up for. P.S. I want to thank you, Mindy, for the heads up on coconut oil. I used it for an oil treatment and I use it on my ends instead of my leave-in conditioner. My curls have great shine and I'm using just the a small dab of the anti-friz where I used to use a quarter size dollop.
