Hi everyone welcome back to my channel um. Today, i'm gon na go into a little bit of what i do for a living, so i am a bridal hair stylist and i thought it would be really informative and helpful if i came and made a video all about what to expect. When you have your hair wedding, hair trial, all the things you should do before coming to your appointment, you're getting married and you're going to have trials, you're going to have a makeup. Try you're going to have hair trial, you're, probably going to have a trial with your photographer you're, going to have food tastings and you want to make sure you're prepared. This might help you like. I sometimes don't even email out this, and i should. I should definitely let my brides know that these are the things that they should be doing beforehand. Everybody is different. Every hair stylist is different, so by no means is this like the absolute way of doing it. Just over my experience and over the the nine years i've been doing hair for weddings. These are the things that i kind of noticed or realized that maybe brides should do before they come in. So i would say the first thing is: make sure you have your dress, sometimes brides come in and they don't have their dress. So they really don't know if the back is going to be detailed and the hair needs to go up or push to the side. So the dress - it's not necessarily the end-all be-all for how you should wear your hair, but it definitely is like a starting point. Another thing is: don't book your hair trial too far out. My bride's asked me this all the time when should when should i book my trial, you can book your stylist a year or more in advance, however, what i've, in my experience, what i've noticed is if you book a trial too far out number one, you don't Have your dress, so you don't have that first one taken care of and we change our minds. I think when i got married, i changed my dress like three times like before it even got there it'll save you money and less. You know travel time if we maybe do it closer to the wedding date, i'm not saying like a week before, but when we are a little bit more dead set on a style that we love. Also, when looking up inspo pictures make sure you're looking up photos with someone with similar hair, color or density. So this comes up a lot. We have a brunette looking at blonde photos or a blonde looking up. Brunette photos, hair color changes the style so much, especially when it comes to an updo. A lot of that really pretty intricate detail work you see in a blonde because there's lightness you're not going to see in a brunette so making sure you're looking up those same colors same tones, it doesn't have to be exact, but in that same kind of realm Of what you have actually same with like density like if you have hair down to your butt and you want it up the possibility of doing a very small dainty updo is probably very minimum because you we have to put that hair somewhere. So maybe if you want it up - and you have really long hair looking at something that's pulled to the side or braided or maybe something a little bit larger up - do that might work better for your hair type same with someone who has shorter hair? Who wants those big, beautiful updos? We can use extensions, but we might not get the volume that you're looking for exactly like that photo. So that's another kind of thing, just kind of look for an image that is close to what you have. So when you actually come to your hair trial, i almost always say that you should have your makeup done and if you like, like a full, beat, wear full beat. If you like natural makeup, wear natural makeup when you come and get your hair done for your hair trial, you're going to have this beautiful style and you're going to be in t-shirt and jeans, that's fine! But for makeup, you're going to be all hair and no makeup, and it's almost gon na be it's! It'S gon na be a little bit of a shock to see yourself with such a beautiful style and no makeup on, because the day of your wedding you're going to have makeup on in some sort of capacity. So, having that makeup, as close to your wedding day done, would pretty and white or maybe like a a white blouse. When i photograph the image it looks, they can kind of see what the hair is going to look like next to something the similar color that they're going to be wearing on their wedding day. It'S very helpful. They tend to really really really love. Seeing that that day, any kind of hair piece make sure you have that picked out. A lot of brides will say: oh yeah, i'm thinking about putting a hairpiece on my hair, but i don't really know what to get hair pieces range from little tiny, pretty crystals to big giant combs to vines which can change up the style a little bit. So you want to make sure that you've kind of got that another reason why doing the hair trial, not super in advance is super helpful, because, if you're closer to the wedding, you know what your dress looks like you know what kind of veil you're going to Wear you know what kind of hairpin or hair placement you're going to be putting in your hair. So this is. These are all things that are super helpful, especially if you're someone who likes to see as close what it's going to look like the day of the wedding like okay, we know this is what it's going to look like here are all the things that i'm going To be putting in my hair now, the veil is something that i probably have a different opinion than most hairstylists. The veil veils are all pretty much the same. They all pretty much have the same exact comb attached to a layer of tulle. When you come into a hair salon, there are chances that something that is clean and we're taking that out. For the first time we're putting it on the floor is going to get hair on it. It might get damaged you putting it back in with the veil. A lot of people are very attached to the bail, sometimes the family heirloom. Sometimes a friend is letting someone borrow it. So i always say, maybe keep the veil at home if you're wanting to wear the veil in a different type of way like underneath an updo, maybe bring it in so we can practice putting it in. But if you're wanting to wear it traditionally right above the updo or up high leave it at home, make sure it doesn't get dirty veils are a veil or a veil. I'Ve seen a thousand of them they're very similar they're. All the same, the only little difference are the combs material. So sometimes the combs are plastic say if it's a vintage veil or a veil from 10 15 years ago. It'S probably gon na have a plastic comb in it, which are a little bit more difficult to work with, because the metal combs can move around. They have more flexibility, they're, going to move around a bobby, pin better they're going to move around the head better where the plastic they don't go anywhere. They say the same they're a little bit harder to work in, especially if you're putting it after and you have a bunch of pins in. But if you absolutely want to bring in the veil, i say: if you have a plastic comb, maybe bring that in so y'all can practice with that, but other than that leave the veil home. No, i don't want to ruin it. You don't want me to ruin it, it can be done the day of the wedding. This is a really important one. Just from an artist or a stylist standpoint, when you're picking out your hair stylist make sure you're picking out your hairstylist. I know a lot of companies or planners or venues they'll have their preferred vendors list, and sometimes you have to pick ones on the list. But for the most part, hair isn't a part of that and it's very, very important that you go onto their website or their instagram or their pinterest, and you see the work that they have done. Sometimes the planner will just say: oh this person's good you're, going to have a trial estate. We'Re going to fix this or the venue will be like. Oh, these three are really good pick this person. When that happens. Sometimes they don't fit your vision. Sometimes they don't do the type of hair that you're wanting it's very important, that you go to their pages and you see that they can accomplish what you're wanting i've had brides. Sometimes - and i've been honest with them and say i i think i might not be the stylist for you and here are other stylists that might be better for you and it always works out better in the end, when you're just upfront and honest about, if they're, Sending you a picture of something and you're not sure how to do it or you don't think you can accomplish it being honest, but that happening beforehand before you've spent the money before you put down a deposit and signed a contract is always better. For the most part, i think most hairstylists want to make the bride happy and if that means going another direction, so be it there's tons of stylists that do beautiful work, and we just want you to find the right one i mean. I know my main goal is to especially nowadays with kovid. Is you want to make that bride, or we want to make you the bride as happy as possible? You know on your wedding day and if we can't do that it, it stresses us out. You know like i know that if i have a bad day, that means i've done a bad job on a bride's hair for her the biggest day of her life. No god, no god, please! No! No! No! No! So, that's not something that we're wanting to do so, just kind of keep that in mind and always kind of check out the vendors before you before you pick them so yeah leave a comment down below.
