Wedding Hair Trials 101: Everything You Need To Know

Your dress is very like classic and chic and like straight lines and having that kind of waving photo is really pretty all right. Well, let's see how it looks. I just can't stop thinking, hey y'all, i'm billy here on wed mayhem and if you're anything like me with your wedding day right around the corner, you have a lot of decisions to make one being what you're gon na do with your hair, and so today my Wedding wingman is theresa, bullock of the bridal goddess and she will be answering all the burning questions we have when it comes to picking a bridal. Look so happy to have you here and so happy that you're doing a trial, the trial is so important. You know you do a rehearsal for your wedding. This is rehearsal for your whole. Look. We'Ve talked a little bit about maybe wanting some extensions, so i have something to try on you today, so we'll try that and um really look and dive into deeply like what you really want to do with your hair. Let'S get harder yeah all right, lady. We have talked a little bit already about what you want. You sent me some photos of like the hollywood wave thing. I love it. I think it's gon na look really pretty your wedding is in oh, my gosh a few months right yeah. It is so much. I'M very excited um. I totally got the vibe from you that you're, the type of bride, who wants to do it a little bit closer to the wedding um, so a few months out is totally great for you. You know some brides they like to do it. Like a year in advance, it's kind of more if they're the bride who likes to get stuff done and doesn't have to think about it, and they know what they want. That kind of got that feeling from you that you were a little bit unsure if it was going to be indoor outdoor yeah, there's so many other things to plan, and so many factories hair, just kind of came to the last decision yeah. So it's really great you're doing that we can go over all the details of how the extensions are going to work with your hair. I think it's going to be a really good option for you to get that thickness and the fullness and a little bit of extra length for the hollywood wave style, and you liked a little bit of volume right. Yes, i do yeah and there's some volume there, but before we get into the extensions just to make sure you did get my deposit and the paperwork. Oh, yes, is this included in the deposit, or do i pay you for it today, nope yeah, you just do your first deposit and then the second payment is day of the wedding, and that's all you don't have to worry about any of that so yeah and The contract yeah, like you read on it, just really goes over like we're gon na, be there for you like we're, not gon na flake out on you, you're, not gon na play. Thank you. It'S really important to have you know. Contracts are normal with stylists. Just that commitment they really should be. You know, i think you know other parts of the country or something it's they might do it. They might not depends if they're really like a bridal, hair, stylist, okay or if they just like, do it here and there or whatever. I think it's really important. So you know it probably gives you a little security piece of mind: yeah yeah, so yeah deposits contracts are definitely important. Great yeah did you have any more questions about that? No more questions, i'm excited to see how it looks all right. So yeah show me some of your inspiration photos there, just some hollywood waves that style, but do you think i need the extensions for this? Is it pretty normal? Definitely so, especially with an all down style. That'S when you really want the extensions, because your focus is the hair. You know okay yeah, she, you know she actually did have some extensions in there, even though she had really long hair. Okay, because i did, i did do her hair and definitely personal preference, but um. I have some here that match your hair that we can put in, and you know it's a really good time to to try it out during the trial round yeah you can see what it looks like you can see what it feels like, and i can tell You about how to put them in and take them out, okay and then you'll have them for any time. You want to use them. You know they'll be good for like a few years, so this one is a little bit flatter in the front, whereas this one is a little bit higher. Did you have a preference of how much volume like i think, i'd like a lot of volume just because my hair can fall really flat, so yeah just any height you can give? It would be great yeah and like kind of some volume off here and then like that, really pretty kind of wave throughout. Do you envision than like one like. I think. Actually, all the photos have a side pin back, which is kind of like the classic thing. With the whole hood, you know so we'd pin back one side and then did you first see yourself doing this side just back and the side forward. I think i'd like just the way with my dress, i'd like hair to come forward. Maybe just so, i can see the length in front and then yeah, you know, throw it off yeah and it'll move just first of all, it doesn't have to be like stiff yeah, perfect yeah. So we'll do a lot of volume, some beautiful waves and the extensions will just give you more thickness and length. Okay guys. Obviously the look is going amazing. It touched everything i got the volume. I got length it's a little bit, thicker, okay, so with those photos i was looking at, do you think i brought too many or is there too many years old? No, i mean i love photos. It really helps give the inspiration you know. Obviously, you know that that's not your hair and we were able to put the extensions in to to get you that extra length and thickness to you know look closer to the inspiration photos that you have, but i always like getting photos. People don't have to bring in photos, but i think it's helpful and if someone didn't have photos, i it's my job to like help be the investigator and like ask a million questions that help figure out what it is that you know a bride wants. But i love the photos that you brought. I think they're really helpful and um yeah. I think just nailing down. You know any last little bits of if you want. You know how much height you want here. Do you want to have this away from your face? At all or just forward well, i did bring some accessories and i didn't know if that was important or not that's so important, i'm so glad you brought that up. Okay, yeah, because there's really there's three main things that i like to nail down about the wedding and what you're gon na go for your style is the details of the wedding, your dress and then your physical appearance. So, for you, like details of your wedding, you said you've got so many earrings that you really like yeah. Do you have any hair accessories? I do have a one. I have one hair accessory. I was like okay, i'm not sure about a bail yet so that might change. But okay, i have these here our little short guys so cute yeah, oh those, are really pretty so with that does a short earring or long earring have anything to do with. Like the appearance of the hair yeah, i mean it's something you kind of just aesthetically kind of look at you know you have these beautiful earrings, so we don't want to cover them up completely, but i think if we do, you know the one side back then You'Re definitely going to see that side. Is it important for you to see both earrings or would you like to have this? I don't have a preference honestly as long as it doesn't get tangled up yeah you can nest, but then the hairpiece i bought. I'M not an expert with anything. I just thought this was pretty. It'S super right from what i've seen with hollywood styles or waves. That might be a good option. That'S really pretty! What if we just like, put this guy right in here and then, like i said, with physical appearance for you in particular, you know you have a gorgeous face. Um, you know you do have a little bit of a rounder face. Do you like having hair kind of closer on your face there yeah something to shape it yeah, so for you in particular, i think it would be really pretty to kind of open this side up. Have that pinned back but then have this kind of coming off of your face and just kind of slim the face just a little bit okay, so there are ways to adjust it to. However, i like yeah, it's good, it's a very versatile look, yeah, definitely and then you're getting married in june, so it might be warm, but you know i like to take in consideration the weather, what that's going to be like. We don't know how to protect it. Unfortunately, i'd be totally rich if i could, but you were saying that you might be indoor you might be out. Are you going to be a little bit of both? Do you think, possibly yeah, and how would that affect like do extensions, for example, like normal hair or yeah, my natural hair? Would i'm not necessarily worried about it frizzing up, because the products that i'm gon na use are gon na help take care of that um? Whether it's gon na be a dry day or a you know a rainy day. Don'T say that so you know we'll take care of that, but it's more so, like you know, are you going to get hot? Are you going to be sweaty things like that, but i think, if you're going to, if you have the refuge to go inside, if it's hot, then you're gon na be fine, perfect and then um just other little details about you know your dress, i saw your Dress, that's gorgeous and i think your your idea for the hollywood waves with this would be really pretty and having this kind of coming forward. You know, because your dress is very like classic and chic and like straight lines and then having that kind of waving clothes really pretty all right. Well, let's see how it looks. You always make me feel like okay, you never i just can't stop thinking about. You is there anything i need to know about prep. I know that you had the extensions, but do i need to bring them? Is there anything i need to do with my hair before yeah. So i'll leave your extensions in today and then you can, you know just bring a wedding day with all your accessories, but yeah. That'S a really great question. Um. Do you think you'll probably be getting like a trim beforehand? I think so. I honestly don't know. I mean, i think, probably just like a tiny little trim before would be good. You know, obviously not anything too much because you're you're wanting the length but a little trim just to keep it healthy and um happy and not splitting on the ends. Okay and a deep conditioner would actually be a really good idea, just to give you that extra, like lustrous sheen to your hair since you're you know like this, is a big focus of your look. Is this hair that's gon na be down and gorgeous so that'll? Give it a lot of like manageability and movement and style, okay, yeah. I think that's really. All you really need to work. You know think about is just give a little trim. Okay, um! Don'T do anything too drastic you might want to just get your color touched up. Okay, and maybe some highlights - or you know, i think anything that you would you know if that you would normally do okay, if you wanted to have your highlights done, but yeah just don't change it like too drastically okay and a deep conditioner, and i can help. I can help you choose one too, like if you're not really sure what kind to get yeah. I need some guidance with that yeah, but i know today i came in with the second day hair rocking that right now, but should i like plan for that or do i you know, i always tell brides it's up to you. I think me as a stylist. I can kind of work with anything. You know don't come in with it oily by any means, but if you wanted to have clean hair day of that's totally fine, i'm just gon na put products in it to make it feel a little dirtier. Okay, but like a lot of brides, are like, oh, my god, if it's one less thing, i have to worry about yeah. You know morning of the wedding and like don't wash it, then you know second day, third hair. Whatever is totally fine, but you came in second day, it was great. You know you thought you were like. Oh it's so sweet yeah but like i've, got a little dry shampoo and i got a little texture and all my products that i put in anyways. So, okay, you were totally right. How long do you think it would take for the whole thing like makeup hair? Maybe my bridesmaids yeah my estimated time of arrival to the wedding yeah. You know we kind of talked a little bit that on that contract, and so you gals all needed to be done by 2, 30 right right. So i like to do an hour for the bride's hair, okay and then about a half an hour for each bridesmaid. You know, okay, even if your hair doesn't take the full hour. I want to have that there just you know just in case okay and then a lot of brides. Also too, ask me if they should go first, if they should go last, and i like to do the bride's hair kind of towards the end of the time, but not last, and i think that really works out nice, because then you get to like visit and Have your mimosas and like hang out and then you get to like you know, get your hair and stuff done and then you get to just like chill soak it in before you have to be like it's go time. Yeah, my dress, you know, i'm ready. Should my bridesmaids have a trial run, or do i get a set of looks for them? You know that's really personal preference too. Some brides like to pick out the style that the bridesmaid's going to wear for their hair, but most cases what i found is the bride says you know hey whatever you want to do as long as it doesn't look. Just like my hair, okay, you know and honestly when i'm doing anybody's hair. If it's going to look too close to the bride, i'm like you need to change. Okay, you know i've done a bridesmaid trial here and there. What happens more is the mom mama loves one yeah so and everybody's different. If you have like a maid of honor or somebody who just wants to like be in on the fun, we can totally do that or if there's something they're really like stressing about, we can totally do it, but more common than anything. It'S the bride and her mom wow it's starting to come together. I love it. I know i'm not even totally done yet, but oh my gosh just kind of accessorize and give it some shine. Yes, okay! So how much does this whole, like deposit average, cost the bridal party all right, yeah? Well, i mean so like our pricing is about 120 for the bride and then formal styles for all like the either the attendance or the moms is about 95 each okay, and then you know if you get makeup, that's a different story but yeah for hair. That'S pricing and then so it just depends how many people you have and then we discharge, the deposit is 20 of the final cost and then the rest of it 80 is due and do i have to bring anything like tools or sprays. Anything like that. Um nope, i come with everything all the products that i need. Really all you need to provide is some sort of a chair, because i don't find a chair and then, if there's just some sort of table around, it can literally be like a countertop, a kitchen table like okay, usually at your venue, there's some sort of table. Yeah yeah so and electricity and that's about it after everything is done. You know you get the deposit, but is there a courtesy tip or you're so sweet um? So that's definitely like up to you. You know like it's a tip, so it's whatever you choose. You know like if you, if you really want to know like most people, do like 15 or 20, but certainly it's whatever. You choose, okay. I am absolutely obsessed with this. This is so beautiful. I love that you you wanted to place it here, yeah like well. I mean we figured it out together. I guess i'll give myself a little credit. Absolutely you know, but having it here, it's just perfect yeah, and so i know this is a comb, but do other brides go with other accessories or yeah, like i don't know. Did you see like there's vines and there's smaller combs, sometimes there's just the little um pins with just little, you know pearls or little rhinestones or something on it. So you know, it's really just depends on your dress and your hair and like your personality and like your general style, so how much is too much time, because i think i want a little bit of everything yeah. This is going to be perfect. With your dress, you know it's going to give it like a little extra pizzazz, since your dress is very light classic and yeah straight lines. This adds a little extra bling. I feel so much more confident going through this process. I am so excited for my actual wedding day. You look so gorgeous. Oh my god! Thank you.
