Debra Cartwright is an phenomenal artist who’s goal is to portray women of color in a gentle way instead of the usual hard or tough artwork we often see.

Cartwright’s natural hair journey is what originally sparked her inspiration for portraying Black women in art. She realized there weren’t many pieces showcasing beautiful Black women with natural hair so she decided to create the images she longed to see. Through art, Debra’s main goal is to let all Black women know that they’re beautiful – even with their natural hair.
