Dressing Up As Mariah For Christmas.

Hey guys, oh my god, welcome back to my channel. Ah so uh i'm going to do well, it's december. So is it december yeah, or maybe it's not december, yet anyway, it's going to be december soon, which means it's mariah, carey, christmas time, as you know, australia's leading mariah carey impersonator. I get wheeled out every christmas to do a few mirai spots anyway and each year, i'd like to add to my mariah christmas wardrobe and this year is no different, so we went shopping yesterday to look for some fabric because i really didn't think ahead. I didn't order anything online. I probably should have. I really wanted stretch two-way stretch or four-way stretch sequin, which would have been fun because i wanted to make either a wrap dress with shoulder pads like her one from last year, or i wanted to make the jumpsuit that she wears on the christmas albums, which is Really cute, so we went shopping yesterday um and look for some fabrics we couldn't finally wanted. Anyway, we got a few little little clips or a bit of b-roll i'll put in here now. So anyway, we settled on velour velvet, stretchy velvet. It is a two-way four-way stretch. There'S a two-way, a four-way. I think it's considered four ways. It gets one two three four, oh yeah, okay, yeah yeah and if it's two-way stretch just that way, one two and that's why, when you get a two-way stretch - and it's not stretched that way, that makes sense. This is like a two and a half waist stretch. So it's stretchy this way and it's and it has got stretched this way, but not like a full stretch, so um, but all the sequins were really not stretch at all, so that wasn't gon na work and also like the hard thing about making dresses for mariah's Christmas sort of you know wardrobe is that in the northern hemisphere - it's winter but down here in the middle of summer, so it's boiling like roasting and everything's like designed to look all warm and cozy and snuggly. So i was like i didn't want to. You know, buy sequin and and have it all scratchy and have lining in it and like make it all like a full thing like if i was gon na, do that wrap dress was like it's like sleeves and it's a dress with like anyway. That would be so heavy and so hot. So i chose i really like white fabric velour velvet, but it doesn't need to be lined it's just one layer. So that's gon na be good. So today i am going to make uh the really camp fabulous jumpsuit off the shoulder jumpsuit that she's got from her um christmas, albums and i'll put the little photo of them here and that'd be really cute and the good thing about the jumpsuits, like you know, After my middle surgery, i just look really good in them, so i want to um. I want to wear them, so i'm going to do that. I have got a pattern um that is called my 90s mariah dress, which i got from chelsea's house of stella. I very kindly gave me one of the patterns, and that is just an off the shoulder long sleeve mini dress, but i'm gon na frankenstein's monster it. I'Ve got some hot pants, hot pants pattern, and i'm going to um do my best to join them together and to make a pattern out of it for a cat suit. It will be two pieces. Um will be a top and a bottom piece that will join together anyway, so um yeah, let's get on with the show, shall we okay? Okay, so i did end up making a new pattern for the pants i just i was gon na like fudge it, which is very you know, it's a very standard, drag way of making things, but i thought you know what i'm here i may as well make Myself a legging pattern and then i've got it. I mean it's not gon na be perfect. This will go around because it's a stretch - and i never quite know the actual um measurements to sort of subtract four stretch, but anyway, i've got a basic pattern. I'M gon na do that i'll fit it and then, whenever i cut off the slack afterwards i'll take off this anyway, so here we go grab your friends come on. Let'S play grab some tinsel grab, some holly tis the season to be jolly make this year. Christmas skies stay warm by the mistletoe lots of food and lots of treats carolers, who sing so sweet memories make this year a special one memories christmas make this year a special one: memories: oh okay, yeah! That'S actually perfect. Okay! Well, considering it looks simple, it actually was quite tricky. It'S a pretty unforgiving fabric. I guess. If i had the right pattern that actually was properly fitted, it would be much easier and next time it will be not that i'm gon na make one of these again. I don't think yeah we're gon na put the feathers on the top and the cuffs which will do but that's fitted and gorgeous. Oh yeah, do you need my bum? My hip pads are just put in there just just temporarily. You know just just very, very crudely. Yeah, okay, feathers, hey guys, okay, so i'm sewing on the feather. It'S pretty tedious work. I must say i have done the sleeves just to you know, get my head around it and then for the top. I'Ve got two plaits of three strands of marabou, which i'm then going to twist to be nice and fluffy and plush and lush luxurious. It'S a really tedious work, i'm not going to film it because i just it's not even worth putting in fast motion. So i'm gon na come back to you when that is done and um we're at the final fitting stage to see how it all looks. Yeah i'll see you soon. So we finished the feathers and it's all done it's all complete, and then i realized that i didn't finish the ankles. I don't know why i didn't do it at the time, but i didn't anyway. So it's the last thing i'm gon na do before i pack. It away so, let's do that now. I really don't know why i didn't in the first place like get the machines out again, make a mess. Last and of course, by the stage i don't put as much effort into it or as much care, it's like get it down. Okay, i probably should have a little elastic in here, but never mind done. Okay, so now we're up to here. So this is my mariah week, which you actually saw me wash a little while ago. I do this in my how to wash a human hair wig video in preparation for today, so she has been treated with a special uh humidity treatment which helps with the humidity, but still that is something that i need to take into consideration when styling it i'd. Love to make a bit more wavy, more bouncy um, but today is 60 humidity and i'm performing at 6 p.m. So in the australian summer, it's officially summer so um it's better to earn the side of caution, and rather than doing it quite bouncy, i just do it in a nice soft wave. So then it'll drop and if it drops straight, then that will still look okay. So we're gon na start with um. I'Ve got my big jumbo tongue and it is quite long so i hope to adjust the camera, but i'm not going to show you all this anyway. I just need to show you a little bit the beginning and the end. You know cliff notes, okay, so i'm going to use a joyco um thermal protectant spray, i'm still we're like researching to find the best ones and um we still haven't found which one we love uh. So if you any of your styles out there, that will leave a comment and you can give any recommendations on good thermal styling products. I'D be most grateful. It'S very exciting work guys. You can't even see what i'm doing but nevermind okay. So you can see this one, which is good. It'S a twist and wrap motion so that sort of becomes bit more of a wave. Oh, oh, my head! I can't do that anymore. Okay! Well, that's it, and now that repeats is all the way up. So i'm going to come back to you when i'm finished: okay, okay, so up to the um final layers, i'm going to be careful when curling it around the face, because i need the um, the center part and the long hair on my face to cover the Sides of my face because i have a very different face, shape to mariah and i've tried lots of different mariah hairstyles and anything with the sides. Like my jawline exposed. Just it's not the fantasy part of the pattern um. So this is a good style for me because it sort of covers all that of my face, which is nice um, but it means that, like i have to think about a few things like. I don't want hair on my face, so it's gon na like be waved away but needs to come down to sort of you know it's a it's a thing, so i don't like to keep these up in their little pink curls too long, because otherwise it becomes Too ringlety and too curly, it looks like it's been set, which is just the wrong curl, so um, i sort of like to pin them up so they cool in this set. But then i release them down. Give a little little pull saying. The curl is more of a wave than a a spiral and then hopefully when it gets brushed through and they kind of wave down as opposed to ringletting. Hopefully, although it has been a year since we've done, this hair had asked on the kid how to do it, i completely forgot yeah, that's nice! Okay! It was much easier when she went to the phase of just wearing straight long, hair center, parted straight long hair. That was fantastic for our australian summers and humidity always looked nice, no issues, no fear that it was going to drop and look terrible or just we could make it nice and sleeky and straight and so much easier. So i sort of split the difference now. Okay, last one, so let them cool a little bit. I almost feel like i just want to like leave it like this and then brush it out later, but yeah. That'S what we did. That'S what we do. Oh is it okay. I would always curl it like this for you and then once it was all curled and we just let it sit like that yeah and then you pop it on and then you smooth it out brush it and you brush it into a wave. Ah, when it's on your head, okay - god there's files, i tell you what my brain is - does not hold information anymore. What'S because last thing, you guys did you just? Did it all yeah yeah, i did it every like six times, yeah yeah, that's a good thing about having an assistant. Okay! Well, they're! Still warm! So, let's just keep them there for a second okay, so unblocked her, she looks very pretty drop cool, okay, okay! Let'S just set they're gon na drop a bit more um and um we're gon na put an editor and then that's it. The next time we see her she'll be going on my head. Okay, we'll see you soon. Okay, here we are, oh, my god, the magic to begin. Now, i'm not going to show you the entire process, the makeup process, i'm not going to do a full tutorial, but i promise i will do one i'm going to show you little bits and pieces of the process. So you can, you know, see the magic. Oh um, i'm gon na start by waxing all my eyebrows out. Every time i go into this makeup, i go into it nervous because, like i don't do it, i've been doing it for a while, but like i don't do it enough to like be an expert at it and every time i sort of do it. I'M kind of making it up and it's always evolving and always changing i'm always trying something new to. I still don't think i've done it correctly, like of all the times. I'Ve done it. I still don't think i've mastered it so yeah. I hope today i do. I don't think i will, but i hope i do anyway, like i said, i'm not going to show everything um. This video will be way too long. Otherwise, but i promise i will do it at some point. Actually, you know what i must leave it on. We can always fast forward it huh it's three o'clock and i should be there by five: don't have to be there by five we're on at six. I wan na be there by five, so i've kind of got an hour and a half really but we'll in see. First quinn, blowing snowflakes from the north shining stars and downtown lights are turning on to bring you warm frosty crystals from the rooftop spells along the way. Oh, what a joy around us on a christmas day bring some garlands, bring some tinsel it's time to decorate the room, candy, canes and scented candles. Can you smell their sweet perfume on the driveway? That was stressful. That took me an hour and 20 minutes. That was that was a lot yes anyway. I think it was nice if i need some more blush on my cheeks or more shimmer, oh gosh, so i was aiming to get there by five for a six o'clock show, but it is 23 past four now, which means i'm not gon na, be there for Five i'll be there so in time for the show plenty of time, but i was gon na get there a little bit early to mingle but never mind, and there are severe weather warnings which is fun yeah. It'S always hard to like, like it needs to be extreme. Like it's drag makeup, you know i'm painting a new face on my face, but it's very hard to like get the balance right of being like clowny and, like you know, like a mask so, okay. Okay, now, so what would i just use that? No okay, i'm done, let me get dressed, get my hair done my hair, pink, curled and dressed, and then um we'll put the wig on and we're ready to go yeah i'm gon na be late, but that's okay! Late, just by my own, you know decision not like yeah, never mind whatever. Okay, oh so i'm dressed! Look how cute this is. Yes, oh now, it's time for the wig, i am actually looking for earrings on first wait: where are my earrings, i'm gon na put my nails on in the uber, because i am running late now and why is it when you run late like everything, goes wrong? Like like, i can't find a bloody hole in my ear, and you know, like even my stockings went on the wrong way around when you try to be stockings on too fast, and you end up getting a lego twisted around okay, and i pulled my shoes out And they're a bit mildewy. I really need to clear my drag room now: okay, okay, this is where the magic happens. Ah there she is the glamour okay, oh god. I wish i wasn't running late. Oh god, you know what i need: okay, okay, i'm hoping to be able to get some footage down at the sh at the gig um, but we'll see there is supposed to be severe weather warnings, but that's okay, okay, um! Look! That'S gon na have to do for now. Okay, so i'm gon na get myself out of the house, get myself to work and then oh yeah, screenshot, academics, okay, ah out of the house, okay, guys i'll see you soon: okay, hi, okay, so well! Editing this video together, i realized - i don't have any footage from the night out itself like it's um, it yeah it's it's i just didn't, get any videos or or photos or anything of the show nothing. I did contact the rocks and they were generous enough to give me their little sizzle reel from the night which i'll use and which i'll put up on there but um, but it was a fun night. It was great um. It rained a little bit. So my hair dropped anyway. That'S fine - and you know it's it's. It'S always a hard thing with my mirai makeup, because it really does require a spotlight. It'S all designed for the light to heat from the front and have all the the makeup reflect in the correct way. The moment you get outside into daylight, where the light is coming from every direction. It just looks like me with: i don't know i don't just look, it doesn't. There'S no illusion put it that way. Um and also i find the illusion - comes from my performance as mariah, which um we don't really capture in photos and stuff like that anyway. So it's fine anyway, it was a lovely night. It was great, as you can see. They'Re like you know, we filming this. It'S with this is the 18th. Today, it's out tomorrow on the 19th and um, we started filming this in november. So it's you know. It'S been a little bit of a work in progress to get to this point anyway.
