Midnight Fantasy Rich Berry Hair Color

All right it's an exciting day and we launched the midnight collection right ariana. Yes, we did. This is the midnight fantasy swatch that i made. So you get to see how beautiful this color is. So in the midnight collection we have midnight blue midnight, violet that you know and love and of course, midnight rose, but now we have midnight love and oh the midnight fantasies. Everything is this beautiful, rich violet red base color, so you get that berry punch. If you know what i mean so our modell here christine, she is half a virgin. So when i turn her head to the side, you can see where she is virgin, because she has not colored it during the quarantine years. But you know what that goes on. Point with a story about midnight cause midnight is about being stuck between time. It'S the end of the day, the beginning of a new day, and i feel like we're in this transitional period right now and we're just gon na go through this journey. Enjoy it enjoy. It and learn because we're learning a lot right, so this is our new natural level finder. This is very important for you to determine what level your client is starting with. So when you take a look here, you can see. Christine'S natural level is a two. It appears to be like a two and a half: it's almost like a two pushing a three but we're going to say it's a two, so this tells me a lot. I want to highlight her hair using the lift me up system now. The thing about the lift me up system is it's designed for level 5 and up, but you can use it on darker levels too, but just know that when you use it on darker levels that you're not going to see as much of the pink because you're Going to have to deal with all of this, which is the underlying pigment, what to do with the red, the orange the gold yellow tones before we get the hair light, but the thing about the berry color, with the midnight fantasy, you don't need the hair to Be at a level 10., you only need the hair to be in that gold orangey phase, because the midnight fantasy can live in there and be healthy and last longer. Hence why i choose to use lift me up because lift me up lifts up to six levels, because when you use lightener alone, sometimes it can overlift and lift too light. And then you have to go back in a deposit color and the color doesn't last as long and it looks too contrasting, but with lift me up, i'm gon na use the rose tone today and the inspire rose blonde. It'S gon na help me lift her hair but retain the warmth. Are you ready to get started? Girls? Yeah? Yes, yes, yes, are you excited? Are you excited? Okay, let's go alright, so we're gon na start with measuring magnum eight. So, with magnum 8, i'm going to measure 10 grams always use a scale, i'm very anal when it comes to measuring what you're working with all right and then we're going to do. 14 grams of the lift me up, rose and 14 grams of the empower oil booster, so 14 of each and that's very easy to remember just think 14, 14. and then we're going to pour the rose just like so so now. We'Re going to do 40 grams of 30 volume. We want to keep the integrity of her hair and we're all about integrity right, girls. Yes, do you have integrity ariana, i feel like i do. How important is integrity to you ariana? I think it's the most important yeah. I think these days is kind of hard. You know so integrity is where the value is. Okay, don't sell yourself short, something that we all need to learn and yeah. I think that it's hard, it's easier said than done right. Ariana totally, you know, but it's a journey for us, hence midnight in between time. It'S about the life is about the journey. It'S about the journey. You know you don't want to get to the end of it. No because there is no story, you know what i know it's about. Everyone people want to skip to the ending, they watch a movie they skip today they watch my youtube video they skip today. It'S like no guys. This is a journey, stop skipping through life. Okay and life is about living, not ending. You know we're living in a day where everyone's rushing - you know, everyone has add tick-tock and okay, i'm guilty i'm guilty. I love tick-tock christine. Oh, i love it. It'S my guilty pleasure. Okay, do you have add too you? Don'T have patience, oh i'm pretty patient, but when it comes to tick-tock i am not you just keep swiping to the top, and it's just you can't rewind and then i'm like. Do i watch it again or do i watch something new and then you keep watching it yeah then i'll keep going and i'm like. Oh, this is fun. Look at this. This is the guy 10 collagen powder. This is everything. This is what everything this is everything. Okay, this is the hair condom. Okay, you're gon na sprinkle. That in less is more. I only did a quarter scoop. Okay, so we're gon na cover her up. I'M gon na throw her in a sink. So today, i'm gon na introduce you to my new friend my new product, so this is the guy tank color canvas board. What'S cool about this is that you get this rubber edge at the bottom, so it gives you grip. So if you want to lay it on your chest, it doesn't slip and fall down. You can put it on top of your chest on your stomach anywhere and it will hold, and also it has this razor edge corner. That'S nice and tapered taper tapered! That'S a better word yeah. What did they say? What word did they use razor? I said razor sharp, i'm like like mortal kombat gon na cut right through her head tapered. It'S tapered, not razor sharp, so what's really cool about this is that you can lay the foil right on it, and i love this because when you're doing money pieces or the top of the head, you need over direction. This gives you support and honestly it looks a lot neater, okay, so we're going to start off by spraying her hair with the guy tang, my identity, my thick body spray. So this gives a lot of texture to the hair and we need it because her hair is very slippery. So when i try to back comb her hair, it's gon na like resist and spring back. So what i'm gon na do is shake the product, missed it from afar, just to give it enough grip, but having that grip in there helps the foiling procedure when you're doing back combing a lot more easier. Ariana is my best friend. By the way, this is ariana we known each other for over a decade seriously. Ariana the more i talk about you, i start crying because this girl she means everything to me. So if you guys want to get your hair done and you're in l.a go to ariana she's been with me for 10 years. Okay! So i'm going to tuck this behind, so we're going to do what we call a money piece face frame which actually got really popular during quarantine on tick tock, and it became this thing now. This look, it kind of came from like the 90s. Like you know, spice girls, like everybody, wants like a chunky. Yes, ginger, spice, ginger, spice love her so i'll show you how you can determine where you start the money piece. So you look at her face frame here notice, her natural hair color is lighter right at the front. Everyone. Can you see this? Take a look most people's hair around the face is lighter, so it's going to lift lighter period, so you don't need to get the lift me up or the lightener right here. What you want to do is start at this point and pivot. So you go into this v shape. This is where you know where you want your money piece to start, and this is going to be how much you're going to need. This will take up three foils back to back, and then you go like this. You can see this is how much you need, which is three foils back to back and it's right in front of her ear. So the whole parietal area is how far you want to foil the hair. So we're going to clip that part back if we can, if you have not tried my thick body, y'all are missing out because it's amazing so take a look, the finer, the section the better. So i am going to hold her hair in a flat panel. Just like so we're going to do a backcomb push now. Did you see that you see how it just grips and push right on back and hold? That'S because of the texture. Spray helps create that grip. The foil is folded back behind the board. Folding, the foil flat back, ensures you have anchorage right. The anchorage is important, so watch what i'm going to do with the comb - and this is in order to get really close to the scalp. You could then tuck the comb right behind the board and you don't need a bunch of product with lift me up because it just sinks right in look at that. That'S the cool thing about lift me up is just spread, so you see how i'm able to apply the product right there. Now i can take the comb out, look how easily it just penetrates. So again you want more grip spray, the hair and always over direct. You see how my body positioning is always stand in front of your client and not over direct down and back home up go parallel to the section. So the section is diagonal forward. Stand in front of the client hold the hair in a panel. Don'T pinch, the hair, no pinching spread, spread the hair out and look how it back homes and holds right there right up into the scalp edge. Now get the board in body physicism. It'S so important because i feel like when we try to like maneuver around the client instead of just moving them to where it's easier for us. Then we end up going home in pain. Oh my god moving the client where we need them. It makes it so much easier, ariana you're, so right about that. We always forget about our health yeah. If you don't think about your body, positioning you're, gon na put your body at risk and you wan na be able to have longevity in not only in this career but in life, there's something about being in between time. I love because i feel like that's when i learn most about myself when we're thinking about midnight. Think about being stuck between time like for me being stuck between time, was when i first came out the closet as a gay man and discover my sexuality. I have to figure myself out because if you don't know yourself it's hard for you to navigate through life, because if you don't know yourself, you treat people differently, because, if you're angry at people, because you're angry at yourself, because you can't be yourself - you project that You laugh you project it right, ariana, yeah, i've been a way happier person because i'm able to be myself and being yourself is not easy, and sometimes you have to embrace the process of learning who you are that journey of self-discovery girl, it's so hot here. Can i clip my hair back, you know ever since i grew my hair long. I don't even know the struggle i have to like. Oh, my goodness, can i do this. Do i look cute, so i'm gon na do four foils on her face frame the widow's peak and the parietal area, so it hugs her face four foils on each is all you need and i'm gon na do the same thing on the opposite side. So i'm gon na finish, foiling this side and i repeat the same thing and then we'll be right back all right, so i'm gon na stand christine around so you can see i did the face frame, but on this side i already went through the back of Her head and i want to show you what i did so i did one two three four foils, so you have the face frame, which is the money piece and then four foils on one side and you're gon na do four foils. On the other side, you can see you leave about an inch gap of hair in between the four foils, so it's almost like, creating like not a mohawk section that we normally do in the past, but it's more underneath the mohawk. You have your part here. You go right underneath the sides on each side, so you get to go all the way down to the parietal into the back of the occipital, but not go on the hairline and that's the key here to get maximum coverage and i did complete slices. You can see i leave about an inch of hair out in between every single one. So that way we have dimension in between the highlights - and this is important because you don't want to backcomb everything in the back. You want to leave some dark hair in between after you get the money piece in this allows for the face frame to pop, and then you have dimension, but it doesn't look disconnected because if you only do the money piece, all of a sudden, it's like boom Boom and nothing in the back you're covering so much with just four foils like that's so fast, so you can see her natural parting, so you want to go right underneath that natural parting. So when you look here, you see all my foils are actually sitting underneath that parting, so the top part creates a veil. So you don't see like a striped mohawk on top of the head, so you're going to see me take a slice going down just like so i'm going to go right from the side. Go right into the parietal side section this, the my thick body spray on for me. I enjoy elevating the hair up and back comb down and always back home from the mids, because it pushes the short hair back again get the board. The comb really helps puff. The hair away - sometimes i don't always do it - depends on the section. But if you need an extra support from the comb, the board really comes in handy. So you get closer into the scalpage right in through here and you'll. See me kind of go from left to right, and this is really important. You go from left to right because it rolls the hair and ensures that you penetrate all the way through, because if you don't penetrate all the way through sometimes you're gon na get streaks. I call them skid marks, okay, so me and christine we completely hit it off as friends. This is my first time meeting christine, but immediately i told christine, can we be friends? Can we hang out because girl, i like you and we actually had a serious conversation here and there in between one of the things that we talk about, is accents and christine take it away. I want. I want your thoughts on the accents. Tell me with accents. I just feel like, especially with asian accents, i feel like there's been so much stigma and hate around it. Just because if it's like you, don't have the perfect english or there's some certain differences about you. But i'm like the fact that someone can be bilingual and then maybe english isn't their first language, but then people can be so ignorant to just like ignore that whole thing and say like well you're living in america. You should speak english, and so i was born and raised in california and even going to school. People would say to me like. Oh, your english is so good, but then i would reply back saying like yeah. I was born here and then they'd be like. Oh well, you never told me, but then in my head i would always be thinking like you never asked you just kind of assumed that, like i wasn't from here and i feel like that was just something that was really normalized for me and i realized later On growing up that that wasn't the right thing that was supposed to happen, and i should be like more proud of my own voice and everything. That'S such an important message. You just brought up ariana i mean, don't you think it's like it's like. Even me, i'm from oklahoma, okay, born and raised in tulsa oklahoma 1981 is all i know. So when people say oh, your english is good. It'S like i'm from oklahoma. I was like what are you talking about, and so i'm, like i'm more american than anyone else. So it is hard because i think that through society, people always make fun of you like uh, i'll, give an example to say i love you in chinese, it's well! I need so it's well. I need well, i need, but when i say it for some reason, people will hear ching chong. I was like how do you get ching chong out of wainey and then in korean it's saranghae? How do you get ching chong out of serengeti and to me it's like that's really hurtful and that's why the word ching chong is actually very offensive, and actually it like triggers me so much especially during these times it triggers you too right christine. Yes, it does just because some languages - and some words can be so delicate and the meaning behind them are so intricate and even just like, because i don't speak korean. But then even it's such a lovely sounding word and so to get like to derive it. And just assume that everything is just ching chong and i'm like it doesn't make any sense like how would you associate the two? You know what i want people to do for everyone, who's watching every hair basket, who's watching be open-minded, learn about different cultures. A couple years ago i took ariana to korea with me and it was so beautiful right. It was the best trip and on tv they don't show you everything and also in the news and the media. They don't show you the beauty of different cultures, and but when you travel it opens your mind and it helps you understand where people are coming from and embrace people for their differences, because they were all the same it'll be kind of boring. Don'T you think? Oh yeah, i i just want everyone to be more open-minded and continue to learn, because if we think we know everything and we think we're the best, that's so boring it would be so boring. I learned something new every day. In fact, i learned something new about myself every day, i'm not the same person. I don't think i know everything because i experience we evolve. We experience new things every day as we live, we become, you know we we we grow and we become wiser, smarter and and how do we spread that awareness you know so when we see other people hurt, we should you know, stand up for them. I think that's the most important thing, so i i'm gon na do one more foil right in through here and then we're done. I'M gon na process her for 45 minutes and we'll be back all right. I'M ready! We back guys, okay, look how gorgeous that color is on the level two. It'S meant for level five to nine, but you see what it does to a level two. So this gives us the perfect foundation to put the color over right, ariana yeah, i'm so excited. Like that lift on a level two uh-huh when she turns to the side check out that placement, because you see that she has her money piece face frame. So when she turns to the side, you see how the top of her head is all dark right here and because of those internal highlights, you can see the shattering of highlights coming through and some of her previous brown hair that she has there too. So this is perfect canvas to apply the permanent color of midnight fancy and midnight violet. 3. 2.. So i put in this bowl midnight violet 3 mixed with midnight, fantasy 5.. I mix it with 10 volume on both. So this is the goal right here, so you can see this is shown on previously lightened hair. So you know that on the money piece that we lighten it's going to pop you're, going to see that fantasy, color coming through and then through here you'll see it pop through the highlights, including the browner pieces that you see from her previously lightened brown hair in The past and then on her routage we're gon na lighten her up, but without giving her hot roots. That'S why the 3mb or midnight violet 3 injected into the formula is important because violet has a blue base to it, so it ensures that it's more muted. At the scalp, but still staying within that level of the same family. So in this bowl it's going to be the shallow root formula that contains the violet, so we're going to put straight on herbitage and the reason why i chose permanent color is because permanent color also lifts the base. So my goal isn't just to glaze the hair. I want to lift her base, so you could see a little bit of that berry tone shining through and also merge her highlight with her base color to create the dimension. So, as i open her up, look how gorgeous those highlights? Look right, it was less, is more. You didn't have to put 300 foils in there and it's so dimensional. I literally just put four on one side. Four, on the other side, how easy is that four and four and look at the impact you create? Look at this seriously and then now overlaying, the permanent color also shifts the base and deposit color at the same time, while depositing color on the lightened ends and what i love about. That is because you're you're bringing them together because you have your dark base. Your light hair so now depositing and the lifting at the same time you're bringing them closer together. So they they harmonize. Thank you. Ariana you're, welcome, harmonized. You know all about that right, yes, harmless. When it comes to music, we have to harmonize. Sometimes it's not just about the melody, because the harmony gives it like thickness and fullness all right. So i'm just going to apply this all on her routage and keep in mind 10 volume is the key here to ensure that we don't overlip the base, because permanent color is ammoniated. I want you to see how beautiful midnight fantasy looks like in a bowl when it's oxidized look at that. Oh my gosh, this berry fuchsia-ish tone as it's oxidizing. It'S going to look gorgeous. So what we're doing is applying through the mids and ends with the midnight fantasy 5 formula. I have a mesh sheet right here to make sure everything looks clean because i feel like sometimes when we apply color, we just slap it all over. So here's the thing make sure that you penetrate all the way through good thing about permanent color is because it's ammoniated it's able to spread and expand on its own, but still it's very important to swipe, take finer sections and just swipe it down just like. So i love the consistency because it spreads so well and then after we spread the midnight fantasy 5 down, we just let her hair process for 30 minutes and then we'll be back with her results. Oh, i feel amazing, you feel fantastical fantastical magical fantastical midnight. You know what i feel erin, i feel like. We'Ve been working way too hard. This whole time way too hard right, yeah, eight, eight foils, eight foils in the back, the whole entire back dimensional and the color the midnight fantasy is everything and seriously not only is the color amazing. I love the story of midnight. Being stuck between time and embracing being in the middle, because life is a journey, you know in the end it's the beginning, because the end of a new day is the beginning of a new day.
