Oh, it is 12 20. So if you guys are interested in learning about my hair journey and how i grew my hair, then you know just keep on watching, so i also gave you guys the option to ask me questions comments and concerns on my instagram. So if you guys don't follow my instagram, what are you doing? It will be right here, so i do have like a lot of questions to answer, but i'm going to keep that towards the end of the video. But i just want to like tell you guys about my hair journey and you know why i decided to cut off all my hair. I'M also going to be showing you guys, videos and pictures of my hair before during and after, like y'all. So i'm just going to start with my hair journey and like what all my hair has been through in my 20 years. So basically, when i was a little little child, okay, probably like um, i want to say seven or eight years old. I got my first relaxer okay. Yes, i got a relaxer very, very young, because my hair is very, very, very thick. Okay, it's very thick and i'm assuming when i was younger. I did not like getting my hair done. I was very tender headed to make matters. Easy for my mom and like for me to actually have my hair done for school and stuff, like that. She gave me a relaxer. She also gave my sister one too, but this is about me. We started getting relaxers at the same time because both of our hair is like very, very thick and it was just very hard to manage and we were tender headed. We used to cry, we used to run when it was time to get our hair done. So my mom made the decision to um, give us relaxers. Another thing that i want you guys to know is when i was younger, i went to a all-white school. So me, being, you know the minority and me having like very thick hair, and you know seeing all the other girls put their hair down and having straight hair and stuff like that, i always wanted to have my hair down. I always wanted to you know, wear my hair just like that, but i didn't understand at the time that you know my hair was not the same as their hair. So that's another reason why i feel like um. I also wanted to get my hair straightened. Relax her way - and i think that also played a big part as well, because as i got older, my mom did tell me like when i was younger. I wanted to you, know: wear my hair down and wear my hair, like my classmates and stuff like that. So i feel like yeah that definitely played a big part too of me getting relaxers and just me you know i was in elementary school, so i was going to all white school at this time. So yes, keep that in mind. So me and my sister started. Getting relaxers - and i tell y'all that was like the best thing ever to me, because it just got my hair so straight and like every time i got my hair done, it didn't hurt or nothing like that, and then every time my hair would get new growth. I literally would be like mom. I want the relaxer. I want to relax, i'm telling y'all, i'm i'm little. Okay, i'm little tell my mom, please. I need a perm. I need this. I need that so that started that so i literally got relaxed literally all my life, since i was young all the way to my freshman year of college is when i got my last relaxer so y'all. When i tell you i swore by relaxers, i used to always i used to love getting my hair straight in because again my hair is so thick and then me getting older and having to do my own hair. I literally seen like the struggle my mom had to go through when i was younger and i was like oh yeah. No, so every time i got new growth, i would literally get a perm, so y'all know when you get relaxers. You have to take care of your hair because the relaxer is literally damaging your hair. That'S what it does it just damage your hair and y'all, as i'm talking i'm going to be having like pictures and videos of me of my hair, when i was young all the way up until you know this point in my life right now, you guys will Be seeing everything don't clock me because your girl looks a little rough okay yeah. This is literally throwback siana. So just you know, keep your comments to yourself, but anyways y'all. So yeah, going back when i was like in fifth grade my sister, that's right under me. She was in third grade, so the relaxers broke off her hair, okay, so the relaxers broke off her hair and the relaxers really didn't break off my hair like that, but it it messed up her hair, so bad so - and i remember like when i tell i Remember all this vividly she um decided to cut her hair, so she had cut her hair and she had like a little short. You know little short cute hairdo and she did not want to get no more relaxers, so yeah. She made up her mind that she did not want to get no more relaxers. My mom didn't want to put no more lashes in her hair, and so she started her natural hair journey. She didn't cut her hair all the way off, but she did cut majority of it off because it broke off her hair, so bad after. I guess, because i was getting in at this point. I was in fifth grade, so i was probably getting relaxers for two to three years at this point and she was getting relaxes again for two to three years at this point. So after the two three year mark, her hair was just destroyed, so she decided to go natural at that point and so me being me, i was like okay. No, i still need to get these relaxers because my hair is too thick and i don't want to you know, sit through that pain. Again i was tenderheaded, and so i was okay. She could do what she want to do. I'M still get i'm still gon na relax so yeah. She started her natural hair journey and again, like i said i wanted to continue getting my perms and relaxers. I called them perms back then, but when i went to cosmetology school in high school, i know the difference between a permanent relaxer. So if i say perm okay in this video just know, i know what i'm talking about, but yeah we're just gon na, say perm, because that's what i called it when i was younger, we're gon na skip a little bit we're going to skip past middle school. We'Re going to skip 9th grade we're going to go to 10th grade my 10th grade year of high school. Again i was still getting my relaxers but of course y'all. This is when um i started seeing weaves and sew-ins and like stuff like that, so i was like hold on hold on you're, telling me that i don't have to wear my real hair, but i can still wear some hair, that's straight, but i don't have to Do my own hair, like i, was starting to understand the concept of like sew-ins and like weeds and stuff like that, like i'm, the oldest in my family, so i'm the firstborn i'm the first girl, so i didn't have like an older sister or, like my mom. She wore, of course, she wore like wigs and leaves and stuff like that, but i mean i wasn't looking up to her in that way say if i had like a bigger sister, maybe it would have been different and maybe i would have started knowing about stuff. Like that earlier, i wasn't really like you know. Oh i want that. You know you feel me so when i started going to high school, i started seeing with all these girls and this straight hair. I'M just like wait a minute. I just know that's not their real hair, but i'm confused because i've never seen this like mind. Y'All i've never seen no weaves, no wigs growing up i've never seen them that, because again i went to all my school when i was younger. I moved to atlanta when i was in fourth grade and that's when i had like the biggest culture shock in my life. Okay - and i was like - oh my god like whoa, but i still didn't see like weeds and stuff until my high school year. But i still, i still wanted y'all to know that in middle school too, like i wasn't really wearing weaves and stuff like that, like nobody was really wearing weaves, everybody was wearing like their little kitty, hair styles and stuff like that, because we still was young, like You know my mom was still doing my hair in middle school. So again, i did not want to feel the pain of a comb or a brush going through my hair, so i was still getting relaxers and she was doing my hair in ninth grade you're, going to school with people who are 17 to 18 years old. I started going to high school and i started going to school with the big kids i started seeing people with like leaves and sew-ins, and all these types of wigs weren't popular like that. Back then like how it is now but yeah. I started seeing all that. I'M just like, oh my god, what is this so i started getting this one y'all. This is when, like my love for hair started to evolve is when i went to high school, and i, when i started seeing like the different ways that you could wear your hair and not do your own hair. So i was like. Oh my god. I, like i love this so when i graduated middle school, i did not want my mom to do my hair anymore. Okay, so i did not want my mom to do my hair anymore. I wanted to do my hair on my own, so i was like okay mom. I don't want you to do my hair, no more. The styles that you're giving me are two kitty, i'm in high school now, like i want to do my own hair, so 9th grade. I started pressing out my hair first, i started wearing my hair straight all the time me and my sister will always go to the dominicans again. She was natural at this time. So you know i was getting my relaxer. She was natural, but we still was going to dominicans. We started going to dominicans and getting blowouts. We started um straightening our well. I started straightening my hair on my own too, when i didn't go to the dominicans and yeah. We just started that so 10th grade. Oh and another thing is y'all. I couldn't wear weave until i turned 16 okay, i couldn't wear weave until i turned 16 being the oldest, like my mom did not allow me to wear weave or makeup. I was still sneaking the makeup. Okay, i still have the video of my first sew-in ever okay. This is when i started getting into hair, and this is when i turned 16. So, yes, i got my first sew-in and i was like oh my god, but like literally y'all, that was like the most painful experience of my life. Okay, i went to a shop in atlanta by my house and when i tell y'all the lady who did my hair, did it so tight she's just so tight and i'm just like? Oh my god, i don't know if i can do this again. I'M like this is what i'm like this is the pain people be going through to like? No i'm, not witty, i'm not with it so yeah. I went through that pain, but i still loved how it looked because again, like i never had weed before now, just feeling myself and the hair that i had was super duper long. So i was like. Oh my god, like i love this man. This is when um leave out was very, very popular. Okay, nobody really wore closures or front toes back then so i was just like. Oh my god, this is amazing. So my job, i was still getting relaxers, so my leave out still matched the um weave hair. So i was like oh yeah. This is amazing. My painful experience really traumatized me. Okay, and this is another reason why i don't like nobody in my head. You guys already know, i don't know like nobody doing my hair, because i just don't know. I just don't trust it. Okay, and if i do get somebody to do my hair, it has to be like something i really really want. It has to be something i just don't know how to do. On myself, like y'all, i really try to avoid getting my hair done anytime. I can okay because i'm so tender headed and it's just like people just don't be caring about how you feel and the way they be doing your hair, like this being like you can't do that to your clients like i'm, just not understanding. I was like you know what let me just start learning how to do them myself, so i started learning how to do sewers on myself and again y'all. When i tell you, the first thing i did on myself was so horrible: okay, it was so horrible, but i started teaching myself how to bring my own hair. Okay, i started teaching myself how to sew in the tracks by myself and all that stuff on. When i tell you my first sewing was so, and i still was going to school, my hair looking crazy, but nobody clocked me surprisingly, so i guess you know nobody really knew like girl. Nobody knew nobody really cared back then either then again, y'all. Nobody knew not to even say nothing to me back then either. So that's probably another reason why, when i didn't have my um sewing in, i still had to do my own hair. Okay, because i wasn't back, then i wasn't you know i couldn't get hair like that. My mom really wasn't spending money on hair like that. You feel me because again, i was her first daughter and i was the first child, so it was like okay, i bought you these bundles your temporary year. You'Re gon na use them same bundles until you can't use them no mo. I barely wear my real hair. Now but back then i used to wear my real hair more than i wore sewing and stuff like that, because y'all that process was so long and again i was just teaching myself so fast forward into november of 2018. This is when i got my last relaxer. I did it on myself and i was in college at this time and after this y'all i don't know why i stopped getting them, but, oh so fast forward to my sophomore year of college. This is when, like my channel started to blow up - and i started to get - you know, recognition and subscribers and stuff like that, and i started getting contacted by um hair companies at this point too. So, of course i was getting hair sent in, and i was just you know, practicing on myself learning how to do um closures, sew-ins, like i'm, just still doing all that type of stuff, so i was still giving myself sew-ins at this point um i was like So terrified of wigs, y'all and wigs was like a joke still like it's not like how it is now so i was like okay, i don't know how to do frontals. I don't know how to do wigs. So just send me the closures and stuff like that, and i was still doing sew-ins on myself. I started wearing weave more than i wore my real hair, and this is like at the point where i literally never wore my real hair out. I was just wearing weaves and wigs on top of wigs and i'm just trying to teach myself, and i was just so fascinated with hair and i'm just trying to learn more things about weave on my jaw this whole time by my hair. Like my real hair, i did not take care of my real hair. I never took care of my real hair. Okay and you know when you get relaxed you're supposed to take care of your hair times, 10. Okay, because you know like relaxers, they're chemicals, they're literally stripping away all your naturalness from your hair, so you're supposed to take care of your hair times, 10. yo. I never never took care of my hair, like my mom needs to do my hair. She used to grease my hair. Like you know, every week she used to you know, put grease in my hair used to moisturize my hair, but when i started doing my own hair like in high school and stuff, i did not do that. I did not take care of my hair really did not care about that. I just really cared about having it straight and the length that i had split ends. Galore i had so many split ends. I never used to trim my hair. I used to never do nothing y'all when i say i used to never do nothing. You guys will see in these pictures and videos how my hair looks and you guys are going to be like girls. Why did you do that to yourself? It'S all about the journey. It'S all about the journey. My hair was not in the best state. It was very unhealthy. I barely put grease in my hair. I barely moisturized it. I did wash my hair, but y'all like i barely did my own hair. Okay, i barely took care of my own hair, mind you, my sister, like i said my scissors, that's under me that turned natural. She was really into natural hair, like she was really taking care of her hair. She was putting all types of oils and doing deep conditions and all this type of stuff like she was really going ham like she was really in that natural hair journey. Okay, she was really like in that life. Okay, like she still is to the day she still is into that lifestyle to this day. So when i started seeing her like during my high school and stuff like that, because you know we're older at this point so when i started seeing her i'm like dang, i really wish i could see how, like my real curl pattern, is like because my jaw, I'Ve never really seen my real curl pattern because i've been getting relaxers since i was seven or eight years old, so i started seeing her curls, i'm just like dang like that looks really cute, but i don't think my hair. I just never would have thought like my hair would be compatible because again my hair is super super thick, so i just was like okay like it's cute, but i just know that's not for me, like that's, not the lifestyle for me, and i was just really Really curious, but i just knew like that lifestyle was not for me so sophomore year, like i said, i started getting wigs and i started getting hair and i started spending less time on my real hair. So again it's it's not the healthiest. It'S not like it's falling out like i was not taking care of my hair. I was barely washing my hair, like it was just not cute okay, it was not cute. I was just literally just slapping wigs on and just keeping my hair braided. Basically, that's what i was doing so like i said i got my last relaxer in 2018 and the following year. In june 2019, i decided to cut some of my hair off. At that point i knew like okay, i want to see my curls. I want to be natural, like i want to see how that works out for me, and i want to like you know, see how that lifestyle works and see. If i can really, you know, tolerate it and see if i can actually go through with it. My hair was my hair was super duper long, okay, my hair was probably to the middle of my back but like right here at this point and then, if i turned around this way, my hair would come down right here. So in june of 2019 i decided to cut off literally all the way up here, so i cut off all of this okay, i cut up all of this and when i did that i wasn't upset or anything like that, because again i barely cared about my Real hair, like at this point i was wearing wigs and stuff like that, so i really wasn't wearing my real hair out anyway, so i was like who was going to see that i cut my hair. You know so i cut my hair. I didn't even tell my family, or none of that like i was just like. Okay, i'm going to do it because i don't want nobody to. You know talk me out of it because again i have such long hair and everybody used to always compliment my hair, but they just didn't know like it was so unhealthy like i didn't do nothing, but i didn't do nothing to my hair. No thing didn't put. No products in it barely put products in it like i just used to get relaxers, and that was it and just straighten my hair, like that's so horrible. Okay, that's like the worst, the worst hair routine ever okay. So i got a relaxer what november of 2018? So the following november of 2019: this is when i decided to cut off all my permed ends. Okay, so i had like a lot of new growth y'all a lot of new girls. Every time i would wash my hair, i would see like the poof and then like. I would see so many straight like strings like it was just so ugly like i was in my transitioning stage. You guys could say, but it really wasn't that, because i knew i wanted to cut it off at one point, but i just wasn't like y'all. I just was shook okay, i don't want to have like no hair at all, so i just still wanted. So i still wanted my hair to grow out some, so i could have at least a little fro when i decided to cut off all my perm ends. So that's what i decided to do so when november came, i decided to cut off all my permed ends and i had like a little little mini fro and it was so cute because i actually got to see like my curls for the first time, not just Like, oh, my god like this, is actually not that bad. That literally started my big chop journey, my um big chop, hair journey. If you guys would like to say um. This is what i started to um od on wigs okay, because i had no hair. At this point i had no hair at all. I could barely braid my hair down for my wigs, like it was literally just my afro, and i would just like slap a wig over you. I went to the dominicans on tuesday i had a hair appointment on tuesday. Today is friday, y'all see how my hair is in this bun yo. I couldn't even wear my hair straight for one day, but i forgot that's the only con about this natural hair stuff like when i used to get relaxers my hair used to never budge in the rain, the snow, the heat okay, it could be, it could be Storming outside my hair would still stay straight. It could be so humid outside my hair will still stay straight. It could be yo, it could be a whole tornado outside. My edges will still be laid in this natural stuff y'all, my hair poofs up so quick, and so i went in there and um so yeah i had my hair all blown out. I'M gon na show you guys the video cuz i recorded a little bit of me in there, because i wanted to vlog a little bit because i was okay. I haven't got my hair straightened in what two years at this point and i want to record the whole process. So, of course, i recorded like little snippets, so you guys will see that, as i'm talking so from november 2019, all the way until february of 2021, before my hair appointment, i did not straighten my hair, not one time literally. All i did was this is this. Is the tip y'all? This is the tip. This is what everybody wants to know. All i did was y'all keep my hair in braids. All i did was not mess with my real hair, so i did not bother my real hair. Like just the same thing. I did when i had a relaxer. I did the same thing when i was trying to grow my hair back out. The best thing to do is: don't bother it. Okay, do not play in your hair. Do not mess with it. Do not do all this extra stuff? Okay, because that's gon na stunt your growth and that's gon na like you're doing too much just leave it alone. Do protective hairstyles keep your hair in braids, just don't mess with your hair. Your hair will grow. Your hair will grow. I'M telling you okay, i am a living testimony. I did not do nothing to my hair that whole year, the only thing i did was y'all keep my hair in breakdowns. I literally just odd on wigs. I just taught myself how to do closures. Sew-Ins um. I know i stopped doing sew-ins at this point. This is when i started getting wigs and stuff, so i just was wearing wigs. Okay. All i did was wore wigs. That is it. You guys barely seen our real hair at all. Okay, y'all did not see my real hair at all at all, because i barely had no hair and i just wanted to you know, grow my hair back out and i just wanted to you know: have it healthy and stuff like that, i literally just wore wigs. That'S all. I did that's literally how i grew my hair back out. I just did not mess with it. I just cut my hair embraced or i would um and i barely got protective hairstyles. I barely got um like. What'S it called, i barely got individuals or um. I barely got braided hairstyles because again y'all. I literally do not like nobody in my head. So every time i would do my hair, it would be something that i would do so. Of course, i was more into um, wigs and stuff like that more than like braids and braid styles. So of course i was wearing weave more than i would wear braided hairstyle. Okay, that's basically like my overall hair journey, um yeah! So i'm about to go into you, guys, questions and i'm about to answer them. The first question is: did i trim my hair regularly during, like my um journey of growing, my hair back? No, i forgot to finish telling you guys with my appointment. So, yes, i went to the dominicans on this past tuesday and they um washed my hair. They gave me a deep condition. They gave me a deep condition treatment. I don't know what they call it, but yeah they gave me a deep condition treatment. I had to sit under um like a steam dryer. I don't know they call it but yeah. She um. She recommended that for me because she seemed like how um, i guess my hair was very important. I don't know i don't know terms y'all, i'm so sorry, i'm really not. I'M still not like all the way into. Like my natural, like you know, i'm not i'm not like one of those girls. Okay, i'm not one of those girls who know everything about natural hair and like the patterns and all this type of stuff, all the terminology, i'm not even sure about all that i'll literally be having to call my younger sister, like i said, the one who um Had been started her natural journey i'll, let you be having to call her to like ask her question like tell her like and ask her like what products i need to use and stuff like that, so y'all. If i don't know what i'm talking about, don't clock me because again, like you know it ain't that serious they washed it back out, and you know they sent me back under the dryer. My hair was literally fitting over the rollers. I was like, oh my god, my hair is so long like wow, like my hair could fit in rollers and all this type of stuff, and so after my hair was dry. Of course they go in with the blowout process and the straightening hair process. Y'All want to tell you how my hair grew so much, and i had so i had the lady take you know, pictures of it or whatever i was like. Oh my god, like my hair literally, is right. My hair is probably right here. Now is right. Above my bra strap so before i cut my hair so, like i said before, i had cut my hair the first time it went down to like my mid back right here, so i was like wow. My hair grew back so fast, like it grew back so fast, so i was so hyped back to the first question that i have did i trim my hair. I did not trim my hair at all. Like i said, i would keep my braids in for months and then, when i would wash my hair i'll literally put them braids right back in and slap the wigs right back on extra because she trimmed my hair. So i'm gon na show you guys a picture of it before so this is how my hair looked before. She trimmed it, and this is how my hair looked after. She trimmed it. So yeah not really a big difference, but she trimmed a lot off because again, i had very bad split ends because i did not trim my hair in over a year what products was most effective. So i did bring some products in here, not a lot, because again i barely put anything in my head. The only thing i did put in my head was when i did my braid down: jackie's natural growth, oil blends repair, my hair. This is for dry, hair and scalp anti-breakage formula revives and conditions your hair y'all want to tell y'all. This is so good, it's right here and it's just like a little oil. As you guys can see, i barely have any more left so every time i would get my braid downs. I would just put this like in my braids. Okay, not only would do that the first time like the first day, and that was it and i wouldn't put no more oil in it because of course i was wearing a wig. So i didn't want the oil to like slip through my hair and like get onto the hair and make the wigs y'all know what i'm talking about. If you guys know, if you guys know, and if you guys wear wigs y'all know, y'all can't put like that. Much oil in your real hair because it will transfer to the weeds. It'S literally the original bottle y'all from almost a year ago. That'S why i still have some in it because again, i only would do it that one day the next product is what i use to wash my hair, the ogx brand. Is that how you pronounce it is that what it's called ogx y'all know these bottles. These are the only um shampoos and conditioners i would use. I started off using this um shampoo and the conditioner like this one. Then i switched over to the weightless hydration plus coconut water, shampoo and conditioner, and i started using these. This one is for damage remedy, and this one is for weightless hydration like to put more moisturizer y'all. I don't know okay, i really don't know these really really helped. My um curl pattern - and these help me, like you, know, start my curl pattern and to train my curls and stuff, like that. My sister also recommended this brand to me so yeah i literally. This is the only thing i wash my hair with. So there's a lot of questions that you guys asked like over and over again, so i'm just gon na pick out the ones you know what products did you use the most to grow your hair back again, like i didn't use like a specific product to grow. My hair back, the only thing i did to grow my hair back was to not mess with my hair and to wear braid downs. Like that's literally the only thing i did. I barely used products as you guys seen the products. I just showed you guys. That'S all i used on my hair, like i did not put anything else on there like nothing at all, nothing, i'm telling you guys nothing. Would you have done a big chop if you weren't relaxed but just had heat damage? Um, probably honestly, because i feel like heat damage and having relaxers is literally the same thing. They both make your hair straight okay, so i feel like yes, i would have how long do you keep your wigs? How long do you keep your? I think she means how long do you keep your wigs on for i'm assuming um? I don't keep my wigs on for a long time.
