Hello Hi: how are you I'm Robin., Welcome back or welcome to my YouTube channel. This little world right here is Man For Himself.. If you like men's hair, product reviews, grooming, skincare, fragrance and videos like this very one, then press subscribe right, now., ( bell, dings ), You're gon na love, it right. Here. Okay.. I had a comment from John. Hi John. ( bell, dings ), Asking if skin fades were now out of fashion.. Now I should be clear: if you're new to this channel, then hi you are most welcome.. This is not a channel where I'm gon na say ,'', Hey guys, seven reasons why your hair style sucks.'' That isn't me., That's not what I'm about, but I will give you some for's and some against the skin fade to help you make up your own decision.. This year has been like a year of either guys growing their hair out like me, and there's always been guys that have gone for the buzz cut. So going like super short.. Now, what is the skin fade as you say. Now, the skin fade is a type of fade.. A fade is where your hair goes from one length gradually up to a longer length. The skin fade is when their shortest length is your skin.. So it's gon na be straight onto the skin. And then it's gon na come up just by millimetres with those grades.. I have been on YouTube for almost eight years and I started with slightly longer hair. And then I moved into the skin fade, and it was one of those sorts of things that me like every other guy on YouTube. Did. ( bubbles popping ), And it was just one of those things where the skin fade works.. Think of a sort of military cuts., Where I think that the trend comes in is when you've got loads and loads of length on the top. And then you've got a skin fade.. So you've got the juxtaposition of the length and the skin fade. And I very much did that.. I had the huge cartoon character quiff.. I was a lot younger., I am 33 and I don't think it suits me anymore.. I chose to go for this more sort of classic style.. It was classic., It was longer on the sides because I felt like that suited me. More. It suited my own personal style, which is slightly more classic.. You know I just wear navy, jumpers and shirts.. I would say if you are someone who enjoys having a skin fade, you like this sort of maintenance, it being pretty low on the sides and you enjoy having that and how it makes you feel, stick with it. Honestly. Grooming, in terms of skincare fragrance hair, should be how it makes you feel., And if you feel good about yourself, then you're gon na put that out to other people around you.. If you are someone that is following trends - and you want to be with the fashion, then I would say this 2021 is less about the skin fade, but we still have fades.. Hairstyles are, as trends go and I'm not a worshipper of trends, but as the trends go, coroners are softer. Corners and edges are softer, which basically means that they're still fades but they're less harsh.. So there's less of a juxtaposition of the length on the top and the length on the sides. And it's more about sort of keeping that gradual.. So you might have it slightly shorter on the top and slightly longer on the sides, or you could still have it fairly longer on the top, but you might just have something which is slightly more classic. The comments I often get from guys on Instagram about me And my hair tend to be from younger guys who say ,''. Oh you look so much better with the fade.''. I don't think I looked better.. I just looked different and we all evolve. Grooming should be fun.. It should be about experimenting.. So, stick with what you want. So have. I answered that Is the skin fade out of fashion for 2021. Are we talking fashion and trends? Yes. Then the skin fade is out., But does it suit you? Is it something that suits your own style Yes. Keep going with it honestly., So there you go., But there are loads of styles on ManForHimself.com., Longer styles and medium length, styles. Styles for curly, hair styles for like buzz cuts., So go there check it. Out. It'll tell you what you need, what you need to tell your barber, some sort of inspirational, pictures. And there'll be the products that I would say to use., So that should be able to help you.. Thank you. So much for watching. Really hope you've enjoyed this one.. If you have and you've still not pressed subscribed, then please do hit subscribe right. Now.. The button is there.. So, let's ( indistinct, ) watch them. Head to the hairstyle directory loads of hairstyles right, there. And I'll. Put some more videos and some tutorials up in the cards there. Until my next new video buh-bye. ( button clicking ), (, typing ), (, upbeat music, ),

Robin James: Find your hairstyle for 2021 here: https://manforhimself.com/mens-hairstyles/

LokisDivinity: Skin fade is timeless. It's clean it's sharp. And it's always going to come back.

Scott: Loving the more traditional, classic cuts but you'd be amazed by how many barbers panic when you say you want a scissor cut!

Call Me Nemz: If you’re black, skin fades are never going out of style, we kind of rely on it

Peter Sahlin: I really love and appreciate your channel. This is a particularly great video because of its message to do what suits you, not to worry about trends. It took me about 45 years and lots of futile efforts to be on trend to get to this realization, and now, at 50, I feel so liberated and comfortable. Thanks for the message, and thanks for the clear and easy-to-follow advice.

Law James: Robin: skin fades are dying Me sitting here with a skin fade:

Mike: This is such a great channel. Looking forward to the return of the street style series when the pandemic ends.

Sam Lewis: I've been growing my hair out since Lockdown I (I had my hair cut a week before). I've got to say that I never expected to have hair this long, but I'm finding it suits me and my style, plus it's much easier to manage!

Packypage: Your long hair reminded very much of mine a few years ago before I cut it all off... But poor scalp management and a humid country destroyed my scalp for years with fungal dandruff. I've only recently fixed it with a proper shampoo and been looking through your channel for more hair care tips! Love your videos!

fivemile13: Thanks for presenting this fairly, Robin. There's nothing wrong with sticking with a hairstyle that suits you well and makes you feel good, whether "in style" or not. My only comment is for those who have not done this before, be aware that frequent barbershop trips will be necessary to keep the fade looking good. This is not the kind of cut that you can let go for a month.

Mitch: I ditched the skin fade and crop fringe in the first lockdown last year and while at times I miss the simplicity, it feels SO nice to have something longer through the top and sides.

Scott Munro: Good look on you. Grew my hair during covid and went for my first haircut 2 months ago to a local barber. Showed him pictures and and explained what I wanted very clearly. Specifically that I did not want a skin fade. After rolling his eyes he simply took his clippers and went straight up the side to my part. Proceeded to tell me he’s been doing this for 30 years and he knows what’s best. 8 weeks later I’m still growing it out!!

johnulcer: My uncle was a barber and told me skin fades were coming in to fashion back around 2012, so I felt ahead of the curve at the time with my haircut, but I haven't been getting them for the past two years or so. It reached a point where they were becoming obnoxiously popular, especially with the hard parts. I've been getting a more traditional cut with a taper rather than skin fade and get more compliments than I used to tbh. But I still see some people rocking the fades.

El Chapo: I had a complete disconnected undercut (skin fade) and a top knot until like 4 days ago where I’ve kinda gone for the curtains style with a skin fade disconnection on the sides but the back is connected, actually a massive fan of it- I do agree that harsher fades are slowly going out of fashion, and I definitely think lockdown made everyone embrace it haha

Gary Knight: Went from a skin fade to a longer classic slickback w/ pomade this year. Grew my hair out with your tips, thanks.

Aaron: Definitely the classic/grown out looks are more ‘in’ at the moment! I’ve ditched the fade since quarantine.

Ingmar Fris: As a younger guy, I think you and really everyone looks best with a hairstyle they like and are comfortable with. I agree your skin fade was different, that doesn't make it better or worse in my eyes. The whole Skin Fade craze of like 2012 on eventually got kind of excessive.

Nick Sibilla: Love this channel, been following you for about 3 years now. I currently have a very long undercut (like 8-9 inches on top lol) but have been thinking about growing it out again and doing a somewhat slick back (jax teller esque) but am not 100% yet. I like that longhair has come back though so I may do it again.

Jura Rose: You're channel and website are amazing. I can see that you work so hard to make them as awesome as they are. Keep up the great work. Love learning from you!

Archival Ray Millar: As an Asian, my hair on the sides sticks out after 1-2 weeks of growth if used with a 0-2 razor guard. During the quarantine, I haven’t had my haircut for more than 2 months and even with more length, my sides are still puffy. I had to put more hair product on the sides and it feels uncomfortable maybe due to the warm weather. I’ve tried the skin fade just a month ago, it gave me more mileage. Sides look good for more than 2 weeks. I’ll stick with skin fade.

ianf6: Honestly, this long hair you have is the best looking hairstyle I’ve ever seen you have, keep growing it!

Simon Balandran: I use to do skin fades from 2014-2019, I started growing it out and I get wayyy more compliments with the long hair now that I ever did with my fades.

FenderTelecast: Excellent video! I'm thinking of buzzing my hair rn because my province is in lockdown but I'm definitely going back to the skin fade after! I love the way it feels and the maintenance is very easy.

MayonnaiseOreo: I think the short/skin fade was my favorite look for you but your current long hair is a close second. I've been growing it out for the last 10 months and I'm back to my emo teen hair days so it's in the somewhat awkward phase right now.

Zain ali: Love the timings in the descriptions No long intro And straight to the point Amazing chanel

Lg Marquez: My last hair cut was May 23 2019 2 days before my HS graduation. And I’ve been growing my hair out ever since. 20 months of hair growth

BasicCoverMan: I think they'll be back pretty quickly, lockdown and extra precautions have led to the buzzcut or growing out as you say (or both in my case) but once everything is back to normal most people won't have gained the sort of length needed to have "long hair" or will be letting a buzz grow out and I can see a lot of people going back to the fade. I'm the same age as you and have been either a bald fade or skin fade for the last 4/5 years. I've got curly hair though and I think the curls stop it from looking quite as much of a young man's hair cut and I'm almost certain I'll be going back to it within a year, either immediately once normality resumes or if I continue to grow my hair out I'll inevitably get tired of it

Mark Skrzypczak: My hair is about your length and I am loving it. I went to the barbershop to clean it up a couple of months ago. All the barbers had grown their hair out and everyone else was going got high and tight. When they finished my hair the other barbers complimented my hair and questioned my barbers technique.

Gabriel Ward: Hi robin great video as usual. Probably not the best news for me as I’ve starting giving my friends skin fades in my shed but thankfully I’m not sure 16 year olds who spend half their money in JD really understand the latest high fashion trends . I must say at the moment your hair is looking similar to Ollie out of Made in Chelsea, looks good.

Sulaiman Rahman: 0:29 had me in stitches! Anyways, I guess my opinion differs from other young guys then (I'm 19) in that I personally think grown out hair actually suits you very well and believe it or not, I find it hard to imagine you going shorter for quite some time.

J Kicks: For my type of hair, I need a skin fade because my sides would look way too untamed if I grew it out for a month or two. I haven’t gone longer but it wouldn’t look good I’m sure. I have curly hair on top so I give myself an undercut.

LAKingsfanrn: I had to ditch the skin fades this year cause the barbershops in California keep opening then closing. Before the pandemic I’d get the sides done every 2-3 weeks. Now I’m almost at 6 months without a haircut.

Rhian C: Love your channel fella. Since growing your hair out, did you ever have a point where you think it may have stopped growing for a period of time? For how long?

ccalmcat: Been watching you for years and years...and this is my favorite hairstyle of yours so far. Suuuuper classic and you look great!!

Beriz Majstorović: as someone with naturally curly hair i rely on fades and skin fades, they slim my face and make my curls stand out. only problem is that my hair grows back within a week or two

Sun Through Eyelids: Please do a updated 2020 skincare routine, your skin looks incredible

Sonic2Metro: I love Skin Fades if I'm honest. It's such a neat and clean style and looks sharp. Plus it looks fantastic with a man bun or some kind of buzzcut.

Steven Sjonat: Cheers to you Robin for growing out your hair. Can't wait to see when it gets to the Jake Gyllenhaal length!

spider man fan 447: big ups robin, one of the most realest geezers in the mens lifestyle youtube scene

James H4ll: The whole reason the skin fade was created was not for fashion purposes and was actually more utility and to make the haircut last the client longer meaning, less frequent trips to the barber, but also gave the client a better option over the standard buzz cut. So, in theory, the skin fade is very well suited to the current climate we have found ourselves in and will be a very long time until the Skin fade dies I'm afraid.

Nico Isn't Here: Learned how to fade over the lockdown, cut my own hair now and have kept it clean the whole time

Matt: I’m in the process of growing my hair out, been about 3 months so far. When the quarantines first started I had gone about 6 months before I cut it.

SuperNova1193: I’m so glad I actually watched the video instead of just reading the title and getting mad. That was a rollercoaster of emotions lol job well done with the video Robin.

Austin Knight: In the barber industry.. skin fades are still very popular. I’m a barber here in California and majority of my clientele stick to skin fades or bald tapers. Shadow fades as well. I definitely feel that it varies from city to city. But I have barber friends who stick to more of the gentleman cuts.. Your work attracts the clientele that you get at the end of the day.

DamnFineCupOfCoffee: Your long hair looks awesome. Inspired me to grow it out as well

Daniel soto jaimes: Damn, is been like a year since i discovered this channel, and is only getting better, glad you're growing Robin! Congrats. Greetings for Colombia.

c m: I cut my hair shorter (not fade short, just short) about a month ago for an interview and I regret it. 6 months of growth gone! Lol I know hair grows back but I was really enjoying the process. Also I didn’t get the job

TheFrostbite324: Damn it Robin, I just got a skin fade last week. To be fair though , I’ve had longer hair especially on the sides for the past year so I needed a change.

Umar Nabi: Been trying to grow mine out but every time I go for a “trim” my barber takes off way too much!!! The locks on my back and sides end up down at like a 5 or 6 guard! Thinking I might need to stick it out for a few months uncut before finding one more suitable for longer hair

Fresh Polak: I'm a trans guy and when I first cut my hair short, I loved the skin fade because of how masculine and clean it was. About a year ago, my barber - also a trans guy - suggested I grow out the sides a bit and I was super reluctant but ultimately went for it. The biggest shame is that the most awkward phases of growing it out happened right before quarantine. Now I'm at about the length you had back in April and I love it. I feel like it makes me look a little older and it suits my style really well. I also had such a frustrating crown area before but now with longer hair it settles in nicely. Great video as always Robin!

Devon Shadbolt: personally, i don't think the skin fade will ever die. as a barber 90% of the cuts I do are skin fades with short crops. i much prefer cuttingmedium/ longer hair though as I have more creative freedom

Samuel Diaz: I'm a Marine, skin fades is the only haircut we're allowed

Vlad Dracula: Skinfades are insanely high maintenance. When I was doing it I had to get it touched up about twice a week to keep it looking not so sloppy.

Make it Rain: I hope to get my hair to pretty much how you have yours for this video. Love it!

Jesus Gonzalez: I haven't seen this channel in a long time you're hair looks amazing. I remember it used to be a bit thin how did you get it to look this great? Mine is thinning now and it's just stressing me out.

Ovais Malik: Well given the lockdown and no signs of this pandemic ending anytime soon, I might have to find an alternative hairstyle to the skinfade.

Mason Johnson: I definitely think skin fades aren't going anywhere for young people, but 25+ we'll definitely be seeing more classic looks

Steeltooth Combs: A temporary death of course. Skin fades are so easy to style and maintain, I've tried longer sides and it got to be too much so had to go back to what works.

Benfica M: For those who want to get scissors cut but your barber can't do it properly. Try going to hairdressers catering to women OR Asian (east asian) barbers, I notice lots of asian barbers came from hairdressing background before becoming a barber.

Sam Hoffman: Very well said lol That’s why we love your channel Robin 7 reason why your hairstyle sucks Night hairstyle routine Midnight hairstyle routine Quarantine hairstyle routine Morning hairstyle routine Bedroom hairstyle routine The list goes on lol They always find somewhere around their house to have a “routine” for

Sven F.: When hair becomes grey and the hairline recedes, skin fades up to ´high and tight´ will be the most effective way to look fresh and groomed. In my opinion it is more natural and cooler than any kind of hair plantation or colouring. Besides that, you´ll need nearly drastically less time for styling!

Ater Abid: Great video as always one quick question though how long is the shelf life of mostly hair products like putty gel etc??

Gabriel Felix Muñoz: Skin fades ain’t going nowhere. It’s a classic

Adam R: I don't follow trends, so never liked a skin fade. For me medium long hair is the best look, and more unique!

Ricardo Garcia: Robin you look 100 times better with medium/long hair, I have the exact same hair type than you and for some reason the fade doesn’t suit us that well. Maybe it’s because we have thinner hair. The quarantine let us see that!!

Dániel Rencsényi: I don't think the skin fade trend will die..a couple of years ago everyone said the man bun trend is over, still, until this day, so many guys wear it..although it still looks horrible..if people like a hairstyle, they will rock it, no matter what the "trend" says

Jared Gomez: I think it has always been a trend in the latin community. Since i was in elementary i’ve been getting a low/mid skin fade and i just change up the top.

Ahmad Yaseen: I am on my awkward stage on growing out my hair and always had temptation on cutting out hair , sometimes messy hair makes me having hard time to sleep

Anthony Jones: What I love most is it slims my face. Any suggestions besides a skin fade to keep the face looking slim?

David Betancourt: Can’t believe I’m happy to see this. I’m tired of seeing all these stupid bald sides I’ve always likes a 4 to a 6 on the sides and an inch for the top. Just because I have curly hair

Teddy Aldridge: The most miserable haircut is a skin fade. The way the customer asks for it in the most miserable voice. I know it as the miserable cut

Hoàng Ân Phan Lê: Waiting for the Holy Grail part 2 Also I've just checked it and did not found O'douds Matte Paste there, which kinda makes me curious since it did outclass Shear Revival Northern Light in your Brand Battle, and is one of those products that you claim you cannot live without. Not judging anything btw, just curious.

MC Guzmán: Skin fade for life!! Looks cleaner than long hair anyday. Every other hairstyle is a trend but a nice fade will always stay

Liam Jordan: Me: wanting to try longer styles Also me: joined the military Been rocking a skin fade (or some form of it) for 6 years almost

Wizzle: I m also letting my hair growing out, kinda the same length. Keep up the good work

Jethro Jacinto: Robin, I was curious but would you ever go back to a short haircut? Particularly the classic medium fade?

Bailey Fletcher: I'd like to grow my hair out but I cave in to haircuts when it comes to the awkward stages.

A J: Super underrated channel. Deserves more than a million!

Phil Vjestica: I'm stuck in between at the moment. Love my longer fringe but debating the sides as I want a surfer kind of lived in hairstyle.... Great video got me thinking l.

PRINCE JOHN: Any hairstyle never dies it's goes off-trend and it's time for skin fades. but I'm sure it will come back.

Desert Guy: Personally I’m loving longer hair. Question: what about old guys like me? (54) Please don’t tell me there’s an “age appropriate” style or look LOL. Sick of the “high n tight” so I’m going retro with the “layered” look.. peace and ❤️ from Palm Springs

First NeverFollows: Dude I always prefer long hair especially slick back and I told you many times and I will tell u this again your hairstyle is stunning just keep it up!

CMN: Skin fades look great on Drake and others in that criteria. I was in the Army Infantry for four years and always had to have a fresh skin fade. I don't see myself getting another skin fade for the next 3 years lmao

just young: I hope feathered hair makes a comeback. Like Mark Hamill in Star Wars or Adam Driver. The 70s had pretty dope haircuts tbh

Ethan Connolly: Skin fades will never go away ‍♂️

OVI-Wan Kenobi: I'm in my mid 40s, I see longer 90s hairstyles coming back.

Tom: 100% agree used to love a skin fade but not anymore!

That Nail Queer: While I like the look of a skin fade. My hair grows way too fast for it to look good more than a week.

YoMamma: Man, I'm still cutting them. But I like the light fades myself, skin fades take so long

Lisa Hoogvliet: Skin fades are hot!! I’m rocking one and it’s kick ass and I get compliments on my hair all the time!

Cole Baker: Hey Robin, just wanted to know whether the taper would be in trend for 2021?

Otis F: I’m sat here with a 0.5 back and sides wondering which level of hell I’m going to be thrown into. Love your channel, my friend, really enjoy your work!

apexEleven: With shows like Peaky Blinders and classic 1920 looks these haircuts are becoming even more common.

Ipad Ipad: Robin: talking about skin fade Me: staring at his love bite

Zafar Ahmed: Great video Robin, can you do slick back video? Cause my hair is similar to yours and I normally rock the slick back but the curly part of my hair at my back annoys me

Neil Villella: No bias no hating just what works for him and what works for you very modest opinion well done.

bag ofhammers: I'm loving that guys are turning to classic haircuts, skin fades had their moment but it's long past

the nimble tester: That navy knit jumper is sick! Plus your hairs looking really awesome currently robin !

alexandru nae: Honestly undercuts are really getting tiresome, and before anyone says I'm bias cause I have long hair, its not, short hair can look nice but these extreme undercuts really only suit a few guys and yet 97% of people do it

John F: Thankyou Robin. Still trying to grow mine out
