#Haircut #MensHair #Trends

All right guys welcome back to the regal gentleman youtube channel and we are in my house at the moment because we are in another lockdown in the uk, but we are doing a video today on our predictions of men's hair trends for 2021.. Liam'S asked me a few questions and i'm just going to do my best to fill you in so here's my ideas for some trends of this year. I would say: lockdown has affected men's hair trends in a way that has allowed people, i think, to experiment a lot more. It'S been quite nice, but she is from my perspective, being a barber, especially when we we went out off the last like the first lockdown. Should we say from like march to july last year, when we, when we come to doing our transformation series after lockdown, what i did notice was people were really really loving the longer hair and also finding that the hair was actually quite different as well, because a Lot of people, i think, don't really understand or even realize what the hair will be like after say a few months, because it's very hard as a guy, especially when you're getting your hair shoes like, say you're getting so you get a fade all the time or You'Re getting a two back insides or something getting past that four to five week stage is so hard a lot well a lot of guys that i knew did kind of not attempt the diy haircuts that when they got past a certain point, like i didn't know, I had a little bit of bend or kale in my hair, so i think it it made people kind of just experiment a bit more. It'S really helped, and i think especially a lot of barbers come to change it working with longer hair as well, because a lot of the times you sort of talk short hair having to learn almost on the job about longer hair and how it falls and how To manipulate the natural flow and things i think it's been really good. I think it's been really refreshing lived in luck. My first trend for 2021 in men's hair, i think, will be that lived-in look where people are brushing their hair back and kind of going with that kind of natural flow of the hair. The movements working with a razor to kind of bring that bring that kind of natural movement out so staying away from a lot of kind of sharp lines and sharp edges. You know i kind of detailing around the ears and shaping up the hairlines and things. I think that kind of more natural finish i think, we'll still be in this year for sure, especially in the uk, you know because we've been in a lockdown again, so i think that will really help. We actually did a video at the. I think it was at the start of the first walk down and we did it with our with our pivot points. Mannequin heads it was kind of my my thinking of what would end up becoming a trend for 2020, which is like the kind of summer to to autumn winter trend, still wearing the hair up and off the face, and that kind of what the. What guys still used to that kind of pompadour-esque finish, but then going for that kind of more softer lifting finish around the edges so coming over the ears longer on the neck? I'Ve got to be honest. It was i was hoping that had happened. I think it was just me, i think my idea behind that trend was just that. I wanted this to come in because this that kind of look i've been a fan of it for years, and i was hoping i could try and encourage people to kind of get it done, and it just so happened that we were quite lucky that it did Happen, i'm not taking any credit for the for the trends by the way i just i would just on a personal level, i'm really happy that i came in so if i, if i helped in any way to inspire that then i made up. So i think that definitely think that that will be one of the trends for this year kind of coming from 2020 into 2021.. The mullet, i think it's an obvious one if you're on social media, it's the mullet, but i don't think it's going to be the same. If you know what i mean, i think what we're going to see with these molotov, i think more than it being like say 201 on the sides which it kind of was when i was doing them. I think we're going to see like sort of shape. Ups and fades and then obviously the mullet at the back, maybe with like say, a kind of pump or something on top. I think we're going to kind of see that as a trend, so it will still be a mullet to an extensive of just being longer. The back and along then everywhere else that being the longest point should i say, but maybe bringing in that kind of you know that kind of afro-barber and kind of shaping the hairlines and doing them really. You know immaculate fade and i think that's going to be a big trend. I think we're going to see that a lot this year. I think it might start creeping in this year, but i think we'll start to see that really becoming quite prominent. Next couple of years i think, but i think 2021 will be the year if it starts to flourish a mohawk. This people might disagree with this one. If you look back at a lot of the old punk bands from i think the 70s and stuff like johnny, rotten and people like that from the sex pistols and things, i don't think it's gon na. Be that, but i just think it's gon na be a mohawk of some sort, i would say certain kind of shorter hairstyles in terms of the mohawks. I'Ve seen a lot of footballers with them lately. So a lot of like sort of latino rappers as well kind of going with that um kind of mohawk ish kind of effect. So i've got a feeling. I don't know i think it might. It could just be a trend that could come back in. I don't. I don't know whether whether it'll meet every single culture or every single demographic, but i definitely think there'll be an element of a mohawk in there somewhere, whether it's just a longer along the middle of a short clipper haircut or it could go down the point of Maybe taking the edges off a bullet and keeping that length in there, i don't know yet, but i kind of see a few. A few of these haircuts come around a little bit and whether that could be a trend this year i don't know, but i've just got some somewhere some inkling inside i mean that. Could it could well be a trend of this year, maybe more towards the summer or the the end of the year color, a big trend that i'm noticing a lot now is is color and i mean like creative color. I feel that we're going to see a lot of guys with creative color this year. I think this year is going to be something where people are going to express themselves a lot more. Just because of the i mean, let's face it the awful year we had last year um, i think it's just giving people a bit of a lisa life to think. Well, you don't know when it could just stop and normal life just just comes to a halt. So i've got a feeling, especially with me, working in hunter collective as well. I work with some some unbelievable colorists and i'm seeing a lot of these creative colors being done in the salon, and i've seen a lot of guys coming in to some of my colleagues. In there, whether they're kind of blonde hair that you that we've seen a lot of last year, a lot of guys were getting blonde highlights, especially a lot of influencers and things that were getting the dye in the hair blonde. I think i think we're going to go to that kind of like pinks blues, and you know almost like the kind of multi-coloured looks as well. I think we're going to see a lot of that. It looks cool because the map, because don't forget the trends of fashion, has changed as well, so it doesn't. It doesn't almost stand out too much, even though, if you're walking through my neighborhood, it would really stand out. But if you're on the kind of scene, where you you know you're going to parties - and you are in that kind of influencer scene - i i honestly think that might become a big trend this year. That kind of create a color um. I don't think there's any particular length here. I think it will work for loads of different lenses to be fit the fade. I wouldn't say it's a trend. I'D just say: i don't think we cannot talk about the fade, because i can't see that ever dying out, because it's it's become a kind of staple here, because in in every society, every walker life, whether you're a businessman whether you're a trader, whether you work in A store whether you're a fashion designer whatever it is, i do think the fade will always be there. Some as much as it's nice to talk about trends, i think we need to talk about current haircuts as well, because they are still part of a trend. Aren'T they in some ways the fade is still there, but i don't i what i think it'll be more now. I think a fade will incorporate any hairstyle, whether it's long and curly, on top whether it's you know a blunt fringe crop sort of like crop skin fading. That sounds like a french crop kind of style as well, whether it's going to be brushed back. I think it's just going to be. I think it's just going to be a part of the haircuts nowadays, i don't think we're ever going to get away from that kind of uh. The skin fades really long hair. I was kind of stuck on another on a bit on another trend, naturally, because i'd like to say long, hair - and i know we've kind of touched on that at the start of that lived in look, i don't know whether anyone's going to have grown their hair Enough since last year to get that kind of long long hair, but if you look like jason, momoa and and james bay - and i think i seen a picture of brad pitt - i think the other day - something like that. I know he's in his 50s now he's still got, i think he was rocking along here. I'Ve got to feel them from the last lock down, especially the global lockdown that we had. I think a lot of guys are going to be quite nervous. Getting their hair cut short a lot, not obviously you know the guys who have grown the hair should we say they're going to be a little bit nervous to get their hair cut, and i reckon especially because the uk is going through another lockdown. I reckon people are just going to go well i'll, just grow it and i'll be honest with you. I'Ve been in that same boat. I'Ve got to that point where i'm just like. I want to see how long my hair can get, and normally i'm not like that. Normally my wife will cut my hair. She was doing it through the last lockdown i had. I had a fresh air cut all the way through the last lockdown, because i was obviously i'm. I was living with a barber should we say this time i left it longer before christmas, and then we got abruptly kind of taken into tier five. You know we couldn't we could, especially in london, we couldn't cut there anymore, so i got the back inside just trim around the bottom. I just wanted to see how i could get on and i'll take my cap off like, and this is the longest my hair has ever been right, but i don't want to get it cut off. I really don't i've become quite attached and i have never been a person to be attached to my hair and it's quite funny because a lot of people will go like i'd, be dead, nervous, cutting your hair, but i'm like the low most low maintenance person you'll Ever meet and i got a half back inside and short and choppy on top. That is all i get this time around. I'Ve been quite i don't know attached to the to the length in my hair for me to think that i i can kind of imagine the guys who are a lot more kind of into the hair, especially some of the clients i look after i can't see Them getting rid of the hair, so i've got a feeling if i can encourage them to get like a sort of masculine longer hair cut in a sense like we kind of try and keep that kind of squareness in the in the haircut and things. I'Ve got a feeling you could start seeing your unconventional guy with long hair, a professional should we say we're professional guys used to have like very tidy hair, because i reckon we're going to start seeing a little bit more of the kind of looser finish. The longer hair as well, especially now you can work from home because that's not gon na go away anymore, like as long as they can make it look smart for zoom. I'Ve got a feeling. That'S gon na be could well be a trend of guys just leaving the hair to grow us as long as they can. I i want to touch as well on on different hair and textures as well for trends, because i tend to look at trends in different um and different hair texture as well. So when you look at say, afro hair, i'm noticing a lot of guys. Now, especially when you look like the the fashion shows that we've been seeing on on online, the ones that you have to obviously watch through the internet and stuff. A lot of the looks we're seeing especially on afro hair, is longer as well you're getting that like a longer afro, that kind of, even with the higher flat top, but not necessarily going down to skin on the back and sides that you'd usually see they're. Actually, keeping a bit of length in the kind of afro or even in just even just keeping it longer all over whether it's not even edged up as well. I'M noticing a lot of the haircuts that i'm seeing now, especially if i say kind of the the um afro texture. Here. It'S it's not being shaped up, which i'm quite surprised about, because that that's the thing that finishes that the hair goes off so like perfectly, which i think is wicked, because because, when you see a guy in like a very smart suit and the hair is just Natural not even shaped up the overall image looks amazing, so i've been really i've been really keen to see what at what way. That'S going to go in in that kind of um that style as well that texture of hair, whether it's going to be left a bit longer all over we're going to start to see that the kind of the the 70s and 80s kind of afros you know It was all long all over and things even at the back as well. I noticed in my hair now my hair is like pin straight, and i've started to notice now that we're getting a little bit of bend in our head. When i was in my mid-20s, my hair was just pin straight, whereas i've got a bit older, i'm noticing my hair is a lot thinner, i'm not like. I don't think i'm losing it. It doesn't feel like i'm starting to show anywhere, but my hair density is definitely thinned and i'm actually being able to style my hair a lot easier now and i'm actually being able to create a different finish in my hair as well. So i'm going to try as well i'm going to. I want to try a kale product on my hair to see what i can do with it. I don't know whether it's a pink or something just just to see what i can get out of the length. I'Ve got now and also the texture of my hair now as well, so i reckon you might start to see a lot of guys straight ahead and opt them for that kind of more looser wave as well. So i feel that could be a trend as well. You know kind of often towards the kind of curly hair vision as well. I wouldn't go down. I wouldn't go as far as saying a pen, but i definitely think some guys are the kind of straight texture might want to go for more of a natural finish. Like maybe add a bit more bend into the hair as well curly hair like that kind of s the scale you know it's not necessarily like kind of full afro, maybe just a more of a looser kale, but i've got a feeling, that's gon na. I think that's gon na get bigger. I think that's gon na get more wild more unruly, more unkept. I think it's gon na be kind of bob. Dylanesque is my idea as well, and i just i've just got ta feel like that. Could come back in especially keeping it longer over the years as well. So i reckon it could be like kind of big and natural curls in between that kind of, like say, softer more guys, like kind of that blonder hair. Maybe they have more fine texture as well. I'Ve got a feeling it could end up being where you're trying to get more volume in the hair as well. I think how i'm looking at this this year has been a trend. Something is going to be bigger here. That'S what i'm thinking as well. So, no matter what um hair texture you have, i think it's going to be bigger and longer that's kind of where i think i'm going with this it'd be really interesting to see by the end of the year how accurate we've been uh, whether i'm totally on The money or totally miles away from the from the pennies i don't know but um, i think for me personally, i love cutting longer hair. I love cutting shorts here, but longer hair. For me. I think you just get a lot more. I get a lot more into it, sometimes as well, especially it's a lot more intricate as well. You can add a lot more movement texture, a lot of guys. Now i get quite used to using a hairdryer and using a round brush or a vent brush, or you know, with a paddle brush or or some sand, there's some kind of brush that is going to help them create the look that they want, and i think I think this year would definitely be the year of people learning to use a brush correctly, because some of the styles you're seeing now, especially the stars you see on like the netflix movies and films that come up some of the hair here on these films that I'Ve been watching have just been awesome, um and they've all been quite long as well. I think a lot of guys are going to want to recreate that and i think with having the time at home. If you are working from home, i know no one's really going out at the moment, but when we get back into that, hopefully that normality you're, seeing it over in like new zealand and australia and things it'll, be quite interesting to see the tips that people have Picked up with having that much that much more time at home to practice, which was kind of lost a lot of the time back in the day it was, it was almost like the product did the styling, not not anything else, whereas i think guys have come To terms with that, if you want a good, a big pompadour, you're gon na, have to spend time starting, i i think you're gon na see a lot of that as well. This year, people just being genuinely kind of into styling of the hair. You know whether whether it be products as well, but mainly you know how to dress the hair so yeah, i would say, they're my kind of predictions for this year. Hopefully i'm right we'll see but yeah. That'S that's what i'm thinking. I hope you can kind of see where i'm coming from and i'd love to know your thoughts. So if you want to pop in the comments, be really interesting to see what you think of my predictions, if you want to try any of these trends out, just get in touch with liam and leave a comment or apply to our link in our description and Um, we are also launching our education this year as well, so head to uh regal gentlemen, education on instagram and regal gentlemeneducation.com as well. So if you want to sign up if you're a barber or you're trying to become a barber or you want to just have a refresher and sign up and we'll be launching very very soon, you

Josh Rees: Great to see longer hairstyles come into fashion. I feel as if the whole of my teenage years were dominated by fades and I've just grown completely sick of them. Now I'm in uni I'm glad to see guys experimenting with longer styles, doesn't make sense not to make the most of your hair while you're young and still have it lmao. Also works well with the 80's/90's vibe thats been trending for a few years now.

Regal Gentleman: As always with trends. The most important thing is just to go with what works for your hair and your lifestyle. Trends are just pointers to the styles you can expect to see more of!

PreparedDeath: I’ve noticed more guys are growing their hair out, even though they can get it cut they’re choosing to get it cut with growth in mind. Dan once again showing he is easily one of the best barbers out there, not just on YouTube, his knowledge of the craft is

Liam O'Brien: I think you're spot on with these, always had various lengths of fades with medium length on top since my 20's back in 2010. Just missed my barber before December lockdown so it's been growing since November and i'm really starting to like the longer hair. Having booked my appointment soon as the announcment came in for this weekend i've went from looking forward to getting it back to normal to simply wanting it tidying up and balancing out but keeping as much length as possible.

Question mark: Dan should do reaction videos of other content creators! React to their techniques and he could use his own experiences to comment on them. I would love it❤️

NorthLDN: Please keep making tutorials, i have been out of a barber job for over a year and your tutorials really help me to keep knowledge fresh and to learn new techniques. Youre a ledge

Pumpkin Head: I used to have shoulder length hair when I was 16. Cut it short for more than a decade to be "professional". Now that I'm older, I've been growing it out and I love the way it looks. I'm a bit more confident with it, compared to when I was a skater kid just trying to be cool. It adds so much more character I think. Hope to get it trimmed with you one day!

Jaberou Journey: I think your on the right track on hair gonna bigger for 2021. Clothing is bigger and baggy with broader shoulder lines on jackets. Time will tell? Keep up the awesome work!

Luke Thomas: I'm enjoying your channel. Would you consider posting some styling tips for making awkward stages look tidier? I've started using a fine comb and some high hold product just around the ears which looks cleaner, looking for more!

jacob Blonde: Would love to see you do a breakdown of the beat clippers and liners for us UK barbers. Feel like information is thin on the ground especially when it comes to modification and product diversity.

Regal Gentleman: What's your favourite trend of 2021? If you want one of the trends featured apply via the link in our description to get a FREE haircut post lockdown

Marleen G.: My dad for sure, for a while at least, went shorter with his hair, because yes mom & me did it ourselves and yes we cut it a bit shorter than his barber. He got used to it though, but now he is actually daring (after we cut it March 2020 to today) to let us know more of what he likes, knowing that we can actually do it after all this time. Tomorrow is haircutting day again. He has already told us how he wants it. LOL! We generally go lower and lower with the clippers on the back & sides, and we now do the horseshoe up top (before that we just "winged it"). Loved the video; thanks Dan!

Fatih D: I‘ve discovered that my hairs curly (3a) and now im thinking of growing out a small “afro”. However it’ll probably take me until mid or late summer for it to look good and it seems rather high maintenance, so who knows what I will end up with

Finn: Are there any short hairstyles you'd recommend for straight, strongly forward pointing hair? Possibly low maintenance. I've been struggling for years finding a hairstyle for me...but no barber in town could really fix my hair like i want them to...

Ciclopea2: When Dan took his hat off it was like one of those filters that magically makes you look younger lol, the longer hair looks great! :)

Damien Blackthorne: Not particularly interested in some of these style predictions for me personally, but interesting nonetheless. Thanks.✌

Erika Vanessa Espinosa F: The main trend is my household is the Mystery Haircut. I grab the clippers and scissors, without knowing what will happen next. The last haircut came out quite decent, but there are no guarantees... the poor hubby.

Scott Forsyth: I’m really hoping skinfades fade away as a walk in barbers I cringe when I’m asked lol. I’m loving the long cuts at the moment. I hope the mullet will slowly bye pass us and not get noticed . Keep the good work up Dan love learning more about the industry changing one life one cut at a time

barry maple: Agree with the longer hair. Problem I have is I try to style it and still look like just got up /dragged through a bush lol

The Don Patron: I agree, have grown mine from skinhead to long hair ,haven't cut my hair over 7 months, got attached slick back is coming Hahaha love it

Zain Siddiqi: I'm gonna grow back the hair but not to the same length cos it's too much effort. I liked the cut but I feel like longer hair more suits my personality!

Adrian Gomez: I absolutely love your content. ✨

jose gon: I currently have a curly mohawk. I didn't even know it would be a trend.

Forest Trail Runner: I’m fully committed to bringing back the 90’s curtains, but with a modern day fade undercut

Zyenn: Man..i been watching your videos mate, always suprise me with all of your videos and content you making, been wishing you to cut my hair and let you styled it :D love from Malaysia btw

Lord RYZY: Is there any way I could get a suggestion from you to which haircut you reckon I would suit best as I am scared to loose a lot of this length

Rolando Rimarim: Yeah i think that fade is not going anywhere. But the modern version of a mullet is what interests me nowadays

Solomon Childs: Feel like I need to book in a post lockdown transformation with Dan

SiegeBallz: Idk if you see this but could you by any chance do a hair tutorial on wavy Korean hairstyles with the sides short?

True Love: I want to become a barber. I got my diploma but no one will look at me without experience. I'm 38 and been my dream job since 16 years old. Also I got 6 months of hair growth. Very curly. What's the best way to tame it while growing it out to a man bun ?

Bilal Rafiq: I cut my hair recently and it's not too hard just need to be patient but obv cutting the pack is a pain

Kas Bethell: Brilliant video Dan mate look forward to seeing you again

Brian Aguilar: Just out of curiosity, have you ever worked on women’s hair before? Do you get female customers at your barbershop?

Matty Byrne: I’m letting mine grow out on the fringe but it’s hard to style it in a perfect fringe cos I have a cow flick

THE TERMINATOR: How much do you charge for your haircuts?
