I get it man, I went through it.. Your hair is in that phase. Where there's just like nothing, you can do with it. You're, getting pressure from your friends and your family to cut it and your mom saying things like ,'', Oh sweetheart, you should just cut your hair.'' And in fact, you're not even sure, if you can make it Through you might wan na cut it right, You know it seems to have like stopped growing and you're stuck here forever. So why not just cut it, But I would say persist., So how do you get through it? Today'S video is five tips for you to survive. That awkward phase ( upbeat music ), What's up guys, Trav White here., If you're interested in style, grooming, hair care self care any of those topics in general, then please annihilate that like and subscribe button.. If you didn't do that, I'm gon na hire a criminal barber to sneak in and cut your hair Anyway. So today's video will be in two parts.. I'M gon na share some awkward phase tips that helped me get through it and at the end, I'm gon na give you some mistakes to avoid. So be sure to stick around and catch those. The awkward phase. It comes in right around that six month of growth. Mark., When it's too short to wear it up, it's too long to style it any other way. And you know you're in it, because everyone and their mom in your life starts annoyingly asking you ,'', Hey so, but when are you gon na cut your hair, ?'' And a good response for this that I use is ,'', Oh well, I'm growing it out, so I can donate it to charity.'', Just kind of leave them feeling like ..., So anyways, let's get into the tips.. The first tip that I have for you - and this is the easiest one and it's simply to rock a hat or a beanie. Headbands, were great too, if you're, playing sports or you're lifting weights or you're going to the gym or something. But I rocked a beanie through 75 % of my awkward phase. And in my opinion I think a beanie looks a little bit better than a hat.. If you follow my second tip, then you can be sure that you're gon na hit that awkward phase right around winter time. So you can be rocking and beaning whole time., So tip number two is to time your hair growth, so you hit the awkward stage in wintertime.. So how do you do that? Well, if you look at the total growth period from when you start your growth to wearing it up in a bun that can take around 12 to 15 months, maybe even 18 months.. The goal is to get it up in a bun.. So when would you want to start growing your hair, so you hit the awkward stage around winter time. Let'S look at an example: real quick., Let's just take a guy who's starting his hair growth from about one inch., His hair about one inch. Long and hair grows at about a half an inch per month on average.. So the goal is to hit six inches'cause. That'S kind of where you can escape the awkward phase start putting it up doing a lot more things with it.. This is you, you wan na start growing your hair around April or may right now, actually., It's a perfect time. You'Re in quarantine anyway, so get to it, but in two months. So, if a girl's a half an inch a month, every two months is one inch.. By June, you're gon na be at two inches. By August. You'Re gon na be at three inches, which is kinda where the end of your styling options come through. And then you get to October, where it's around four inches and that's where the awkward phase kind of begins and now you're starting the winter time. So you can rock your beanies. December comes you're at five. Inches is in the middle of the awkward phase, which is where most guys actually give up.. But if you push through to February boom, you hit your six inch goal and you've made it. You can start rocking it., Then, when the 12 month mark comes around you're back in April, you're at seven inches and you're rocking the bun and you're owning it. Tip number three that I have is to just own it and go with the messy look.. It says like `` Yeah, I got awkward hair'' and I'm rocking it'', because I'm ...'' And I'm rocking it'', because I can.'' I'm gon na pull up some pictures, real quick from my awkward stage and how I just owned the messy look., That's kinda, what I did. So here's a picture I was in LA and I had no clue what to do with it and it was October, but it was warm and I couldn't wear a beanie. It would have been too hot.. So I just owned the messiness.. So here's another image in November in Austin and if you know anything about Texas, you know only gets cold in Texas around February, so November was still too hot for me, and I just let that messiness flow.. I think it shows a lot of confidence when you can rock the awkward hair phase as it is, and you don't really care what people are gon na say about it. And you don't care if anyone's judging you or anything.. You know where you're going and you see the light at the end of the tunnel and you don't need people's approval for how you wear your hair, because you know that you're gon na try to get to a certain goal. It'S not gon na be like that. Forever., So the next tip I have for you is use Bobby pins on your sides.. Now this is for the guys who start growing from like an undercut, or they start growing with their top of their hair longer than the sides.. It takes time for them to kinda even out.. The sides are sort of the primary culprit when you're trying to style it., So you can just use Bobby pins to keep them in place. However, you want. - I never did this when I was growing my hair out. Simply because I wasn't too worried about the sides, but if you go over to Luca Santangelo's .... Sorry, if I said your name wrong, Luca. Luca Santangelo's YouTube channel hear is a great tutorial on how he used Bobby pins during his awkward phase, and it was really cool.. So I wanted to give a shout out to him. That was a great tip., So I wanted to include it.. The next part I have is, if I have is, if possible, to grow out some facial hair for multiple reasons. It's a great distraction from a yourself.. You don't get too focused on your awkward phase and what's happening., You can focus on growing your beard out and then also it's a great distraction from other people. Instead of people saying ,'' Hey: when are you going to get your hair cut, ?'' They'll say like ``, Hey, I love the new facial hair.'' And it maybe they won't even notice that your hair is in an awkward face who knows And if they say something just be like ,'' Yo, my shoulders are having a party ,'' they're waiting for my hair to arrive.''. That'S stupid, don't say that unless you want to yeah say it just do. Anyways, I got a bonus tip for you guys now, and this is for my guys, who were rocking sort of straight and wavy hair kinda like how I have this is what I did For 90 % of my awkward phases., I would do a messy comb-over with a side part and it's a great way to make it look less awkward and I'll pull up some photos of what I mean.. So in this image here I pulled one side back kinda behind my ears and I parted the other side over and I combined it with a suit and it looked dope. I thought. In this image here I just let the messy come over just shine.. I think I was in New York and the wind is blowing and I just let it rock. And in this next image I was wearing a Varsity jacket with skinny jeans and Chelsea boots, and I just put it combed it over and said: `` Hey, let's rock, With it.'', I really liked that comb overlook, but now, let's move on to some mistakes to avoid, if you're in the awkward phase. Scene number one is not trimming your split ends.. This tremendously slows down your hair growth, because when the split travels up the follicle, it can cause breakage and if a split breaks faster than your hair growth speed, your hair will grow much much slower. And you know the split ends: don't technically stop your hair from Growing but it can slow it down a lot when follicle breakage is happening at a faster rate than your hair is growing out.. The second mistake is slicking your hair back.. I know it might seem like a good idea if you have like high hold high shine products to get that slicked back look, but it could you run the risk of it kind of looking like that's what your end goal is rather than you're, just in an Awkward phase and then you're using that as a means to an end., But in any case I would say, keep pushing because, however many tips I give you to try to like navigate this awkward phase. The truth is like this is a challenge that all our long hair brothers go through.. It'S almost like a rite of passage is overcoming that awkward stage., Because once you overcome it, it's like your test.. It'S like a test that you got to pass to get to your goal. And when you overcome it, it's just a sign of like you, had the commitment and you're sending this message to people that you're a person who can commit to something that you have to Nasty and persistence. You can push through even when things get hard, which is very kinda relevant to the times we're in right, now.. So anyways, I would just say, like push through keep going you're almost there.. It'S only six months of awkwardness six months. Women are pregnant for nine. You can handle six months of awkward hair., I'm telling you man push through it. You got it and I'll see you guys in the next video peace.

nszoldyck: Somebody give this man an Edge of Duality

Uri Kelman: "6 months! Women are pregnant for 9. You can handle 6 months of awkward hair." That's an awesome quote! Great video!

Gabriel Saladbar: your awkward phase looks like what I want my hair to look like

Luca Santangelo: Hey Trav, just had somebody direct me to this video and wanted to say hey!!! Thanks for the mention!! Awesome video, looking forward to seeing more from you :)

Harambe: Growing out your hair is a mental lesson. Mostly for those in school, but don't let the pressure determine your hairstyle. I am in school and my hair has been in the process of becoming long through my entire year as a 14 year old, but what others thought wasn't a big problem for me. Don't take in when people talk shit about your hair. I support everyone of you.

ATTAK TIME: I've grown a beard for about a year and the awkward stage made me look homeless. Now I'm at Viking stage I get compliments from friends and family I feel I can do the same with hair. this is a great video and very informative 10/10

Echelay: When i was in my awkward phase i was like 20kg overweight so nobody really cared about my hair By the time I had grown it out id lost like 25kg so timed it perfectly skipped the awkward phase with the ultimate distraction

MCS Digital: There should be a place for boys who are growing out their hair, and when they are in awkward stage they can live there all of 'em and then exit looking like a super cool dude lmao

SPACIALisT: Thanks for this man. 4 months ago I would have scoffed and been like "Look at this guy caring about his appearance" but deep down I was the one unhappy with myself. So i really decided to start making an effort, watching videos about hairstyles and fashion. This is the exact video I needed at the exact time. Just to kind of see your confidence combo'd with the amazing end result was really helpful and def boosted my confidence. In ATX here, hope to see ya back when all the quarantine is finally over!

pricetag: One tip for everyone. When you're starting to grow your hair, have it already a bit longer on the top than sides. I started to grow mine from almost bald, and the awkward phase was about 4 times longer than normally, because the hair was awkwardly long equally from everywhere.

Jose Manuel Albaladejo: I'm on my awkward stage right now and quarantine has saved my dignity lmao

docyagamikiko: Man.. thank you for this boost! Its my first time to try growing, now on my 6 month and everyone's nagging me to quit. Your video just made me persevere! I will rock this bun! I got this! We all got this!!!

Bilal Malaeb: Hey Trav, great advice as always. Do you have any specific awkward-phase advice for those of us that are burdened with curly hair? I'm at that 7 month mark and it's proving difficult to groom haha!

Jake Thompson: Glad I found this video now that I’ve been growing my hair out for the past 6-9 months and am at the end of the awkward stage I hit the timing all wrong too. Have been wearing a hat the whole time and hit awkward stage right during spring/summer. My hair on top and sides are right at 6” but I trimmed the back of my hair recently to avoid the mullet look so it’s about 4”. Maybe I should have left it so I can tie it up sooner... just have to wait to grow it out more. Planning to start wearing it without a hat though, just tying up top and sides

Chris: Even at your awkward phase you still killed it. Confidence is key when growing out your hair.

HauntedPumpkin: I used to have long hair about 10 years ago. Now, I've decided to grow it out again thanks to COVID-19. Love this video man, will absolutely be sticking with it through the awkward phase!

__.doesn’t_exist.__: Hi Trav! I’m currently 3 months in the awkward stage and you have really helped me! Stay cool dude

Rodri Graziano: Muy buenos consejos! Pasé por mi etapa incomoda hace ya varios meses. Pero todo lo que dices es realmente útil. Hubiese sido genial haber encontrado este video antes. Saludos!

Bow Valley Outpost: I’m at the 4-5 inch awkwardness, thanks for the video! Helped refocus my goal today! I should probably start taking short vlogs on my journey! Thanks for the inspiration

Nick M: Thank goodness for this video. My stylist reopened recently and i almost made an appointment to get my regular haircut, but decided to wait a few more days. After watching this, it gave me a new perspective to carry on with my hair growth journey. Thanks again!

Tee Tyndal: Growing my hair and beard for the next two years with as little cuts as possible, loving the tips man! Thanks bunches

ambdance00: I’m six months into growing my hair out and I started laughing when he said DON’T SLICK YOUR HAIR BACK because I did that for a few days last week and actually got compliments on it by my co workers because I rocked it lol. I don’t even know if I wanna fully commit to growing out my hair, but because of the quarantine, I’m trying it out and we’ll see how far I decide to go with it

Michael Bowen: I’m over one year in. I have never had a trim. I just now got to be able to put it up. It was the most gratifying thing to know I made it through that awkward phase. I’ve changed my hair washing schedule too. But what you said about split ends makes me want to go get a trim immediately

Philip Richardson: For me the awkward stage was around 2.5-4 inches, too long to put up like I had it before, way too short to style properly and make it look good. Luckily there was quarantine so I didn't have to worry too much. Now I'm around 5 inches and bc my hair is naturally wavy and a bit curly it looks cool imo. Still, gonna survive till January and have nice longer hair

PureAgent: I used to have long hair (longer than my girlfriend) for about 3 years, but needed to do a buzzcut because i got lices and cannot get rid of them, so, im starting all over again! Keep going guys, i know this is hard, but y’all can do it!

Nick Sibilla: I'm in the exact same spot as you with your messy phase. I'm growing it from a undercut so have like 10inches on top but 4ish on the sides and back. I had been doing the messy side part already but the other tips are super useful.

Vishal Shah: I went through all of of this about six years ago. Had long hair for almost 5 years then donated around 13 1/2 inches. Been rocking the a slickback undercut since. However, I haven't cut my hair since the beginning of March due to this quarantine. I guess I'm growing it out again. Kind of intrigued by the Viking undercut looks. Does anybody do this or have advice? IDK if I want my whole sides too be long like I used to have. My sides are at about an 1.3 inches RN.

Dan: I started growing my hair at the very start of this year and I'm currently in the awkward stage, but luckily it lays nicely to one side to give a neat side bang. I'm looking forward to being a year into my growth.

MDAH: “Rock a hat or beanie” School: how about *N O*

Timur Niyazov: Hey Trav, thanks for the vid! I used to have undercuts and skin fades with a long top, and my wavy hair is long enough for curtains with a mid-part and I am trying to even the top out with the lower sides and back of my hair. Now the top is getting a bit too long while the sides and back are reaching the awkward stage. Brushed down from mid-part my hair covers the ears. Should I trim the top a little bit and gradually go for a more even look, or should I just let it grow? Either way with a beard and waves I am pretty confident with any awkward stage style. Cheers! Tim

Thrifted Drip: I started growing from an undercut. And I had to use a Bobby pin for like 5 months because I could pull the top up but the sides just weren’t long enough yet. Bobbies saved my life and really helped me not cut it all off lol. Now I’m at 20+ months and it’s looking good.

Florian Sommer: Omg this video is exactly what I need right now. I feel so understood ❤️! I can't even handle it and NEED to write this comment. Anyways this phase is awful. But I'm getting through this (actually just forgot how to spell through fml). Also I love how many of us are happy about this phase being at the same time as corona. Well, there's something positive in everything.

Jah Razonable: I'm on this awkward phase right now. Really appreciate this vid, decided to keep on going. Thanks!

Walter Alvarez: I’m 6 months into awkward stage , the silver lining : Quarantine you motivating me to keep going . Thanks Bro ! Stay Safe !

Azim 53: Very informative and accurate, trust me guys it is worth waiting and growing. I’m about to jump on my 18th month!

Rene Fras: I in fact loved the 4,5-5,5 inch inch phase of my hair growth, I rocked a volumeous side part/ quiff, the worst part came around 7 inches when my head looked like a triangle when I tried to rock a middle part bc nothing else worked

vishal manjhi: Hey, thanks for the encouragement and tips. I have started growing my hairs from April Now it is in awkward stage

Jose Cabrera: been growing mine out currently at the awkward stage! rocking the beanie! and messy look! forsure know it will be worth it at the end !

Steve Schultz: I had my hair at about 5 inches before I cut it. But I would say the main reason why I gave up was because I didn't know what style I wanted or where to go with it, I just knew I wanted to grow it out. I'm currently back at 4 inches on top and starting my journey once again while I still have covid and the winter time to use this great advice! Thank you for the tips and encouraging me to try again.

Jose Palomino: I've been wanting to try out long hair for a while but I've always rocked a simple fade so it's a big contrast. I'm thinking of trying it out this time (last hair cut was in May, longest I've gone without a cut in a long time) but it's barley August and I'm already getting a strong ass urge to cut it. My biggest fear rn is putting up with this awkward phase only to discover I don't like how I look with long hair either.

JAY AIR: 8 months in and hitting that phase right on time. Great vid.

Ryan Atkin: Iv been growing my hair out since January 2020 and this video came out last week or so and now I finally realise what I gotta do thanks so much

Eli Weaver: Thank you for making this video. I cut my hair and I looked in the mirror in disgust and agony, deeply deeply disgusted by myself and how short it was. I miss having hair.

Thomas Mason: So I’ve grown my hair out twice. But my goal has always been collarbone to nipple length hair, or roughly 16 inches. The first time I got to 11 and a bit inches. The second time it was 9 and a bit. So for me, that is my awkward face, when it gets past 6 inches. I do enjoy the growing out process, but when it’s at that medium length, I just don’t know what to do with it. Any tips or suggestions would be great! Thanks for the awesome content!

thedirty530: This is such a great channel...my sides just do as they please & is by far the most aggravating during special occasions when I want to look at least semi decent. Thanks for the tips!

Alex Trujillo: Seriously dude this helps! It’s so difficult growing out long when you have frizzy hair

Paul McIntosh: Great video man, worse thing I did was shaving my face and I was instantly conscious about my hair but I am determined to carryon the hair growing.

sakya majumder: Growing for the 3rd time in my 35 yrs of span, so aware of the offbit scene. "This too shall pass"! Currently running 6 months.

nima sherpa: “I’m growing it out so that I can donate it to Charity” That’s my response if anyone asks about it in my job. Lol

Luke Van Ginkel: I tried in middle school a couple years ago but just before I got it to a good length my friends pressured me to cut it. I am about to start growing it again and I'm definitely using that shoulder party joke lol

The Bearded Seeker: great advice. 3:53 that's where my hair is now. been growing it since February. long-ish, but not enough to put in a neat ponytail.

Julian Rahim: I am on the awkward phase right now but I think It looks good on me, I really like this and starting to think I don't want to grow longer than this, on the other hand, people especially girls do like my hair too. Before I watched this video, I didn't even know there was an awkward phase, now I am confused whether I should grow it or stick with this awkward phase as I am afraid I won't be able to rock the longer one

Sara Noscenti: I just love watching these very practical videos on man's fashion and reading through the comments - it's so refreshing to see average guys caring about hygiene and fashion!

Protectobot: I have NO idea how many ppl in general are going for the long hair hairstyle for the first time but it just takes patience. Trimming the ends sometimes is helpful. I wish ppl would ask me if they want to know my own hair growth pointers but I’m sure Trav has MUCH better ideas

Joshua: Had chest length hair 2 times in my life, growing it out again for a third time

Alexander Ray Stone: I just started growing my hair again, 'cause I tried last year, I didn't cut it for like 7 months and then I gave up and you're right the family and friends put a lot of pressure on you... This time I cut it last on mid april, right a the beginning of quarantine and I kinda shaved all my hair, now I decided I'm going to let it grow but it's a bit stressing because I feel like it's not growing fast enough and I'm getting into the awkward phase and I don't know how to style it or what products to use but I'm commited to let it grow this time and see how it goes... Great video btw and sorry for all this text but I feel like nobody gets it and all they want is for me to go cut it.

Gilad Fadel: I started growing my hair in september 2019, With 1 sentimeter over my head to start. (After having a mental break down before hand.. I shaved my whole head like the crazy brittney that I am in 6/19) Anyways sooo, I started from literal scratch, (I have semi-curly hair). I went through that messy part mostly on summer. It was a total disaster... And boy my messy phase was fucking messy as fuck!☠️ Imagine having Thicc, densely packed, heavy, black, curly, oily, very long but not long enough for a bun, messy hair. through 35~40 degrees celsius summer heat of a 1000 suns!☀️️ Being in the sun most of the day. Not fun to say the least... So.. after going through literal hell, I've finally reached my first whole head non bobby pins, man bun, a year later to the exact. From 9/19 to 9/20 Finally free! Amen

Tyrel Martin: I’m in the awkward stage As well as my older brother we’re both growing are hair out but thanks for the motivation I just subscribed

Gaddiel Cunningham: What’s up Trav? Been looking to grow my hair out again, longet I got was a man bun ☺️ my goal is to have hair long enough that I can tie everything back. I’m on 3 months now new subscriber here!!

Pietro Falco: Started growing my hair in October 2019, then I cut it in june because after the first quarantine I started going out and to the beach and it was awkward and uncomfortable. In September I went to the barber shop again and he gave me a terrible haircut, thus I fixed it by myself shaving my head till having a uniform 1inch length. From that moment I am growing them out again, and this time I really want to achieve my goal of overcoming this stage. Sadly I cut them just one month before the last time, so I already know that it will be really hard to stick to my plans in June.

Ankit Sharma: I had long hair like 5 years back, now I'm growing them again and I'm at the 3 inch mark lol. Good luck to me for the next few inches and awesome vid bro. I'm using a hairband and just owning the look for now.

Sam Giron: Hey trav!! I've been growing out my hair 1 year with e months and is kinda curly, so I wanna know if you could make a video about curly long hair tho, it'll be cool to see what would you recommend, I hope you see this comment, I love your videos

Austin Källström: I don't know how relevant this is to a guy like me with fine, blonde hair, but this inspired me a lot to continue going. Thank you!

wlat barzinjy: I also started last year in April and now I'm on 14 months of hair growth, but the problem is that since were getting close to summer and its getting hotter and hotter every day, it gives me a lot of anxiety when I I style it to the sides, and most of the time I have to just were a man bun. That's why I'm thinking of cutting it soon, maybe in June or July.

Gian Mikaelo Alegre: I've already grown 7 years worth of hair and got it cut in 2019. Quarantine is making me start all over. I'm six months in, that's why looked up this video.

Ishaan Mankotia: I have started growing my hair out from an under cut and just entered my awkward stage. I can only put my upper hair in a small bun and letting my side hair just grow and they look pretty ridiculous but let's do it

Matt LaLuz: Big shoutout to Luca Santangelo! Very helpful tip. Quick add on to his suggestion, Bobby pins are sold in multiple colors so just make sure to match your Bobby pin color to your hair color to help hide and disguise them easier in your hair.

Fata consilium: Hey man! I had longer hair and sheared it off for quarantine (for fun, not for donations sadly). And I somehow landed the perfect time for it to grow into winter!

hecks: didn't know about the split end trimming tip, will definitely try to get to the barber for that soon. honestly don't know why i watched this video, i'm in the awkward stage and people are actually complimenting my hair haha, saying they like the messy look, cause i'm just letting my hair do its thing, style it once when i get out of the shower and then just small checkups throughout the day, best wishes to anyone else growing their hair out this year :)

Tanaka-kun: Hey man, I had my haircut in undercut last January, I was wondering if it's ok to leave the longer strands/part/area of hair? Or should I trim it?

Amartha Styles: I was losing my patience after I hit this 6 month mark thinking it's not gonna grow any further, this guy gave me a sigh of relief when he said it takes 12-15 months for a bun length hair, tysm

Dawn Otten: My son is in that awkward stage and is constantly mistaken for a girl and he is annoyed so much by it but he wants to grow it all out still. Worse in my opinion is that he has semi curly/wavy hair so no matter what it always looks messy. He is only 13 so his ability to grow facial hair isn't fully there at all yet either.

Protectobot: ALSO, my hair is CRAZY sometimes while it grows like it has a mind of its OWN: I wake up 1 night and it’s a trapezoid; next night it’s a RHOMBUS. It doesn’t always wanna grow so I sometimes go with the flow of randomly-flowing locks. I cut it and wait to see if it wants to grow the NEXT time For now, my hair WANTS to be long

Pricey: Here’s my awkward phase Inserts modelling photo. What about those of us that look like shit

Michael Lawrence: I can do a little 4" ponytail now and its spring but I'm going to tough it out no matter what! I want hair like yours!!!

design 4nyone: My hair is black, from Vietnam :D. During my awkward term, i bleached it and dyed it blonde. My friends focused on the shocking color instead of my funny hair condition. Now after 2 years, my long blonde hair has became my identification. Some clients remembered me by my hair, not my name. Sometimes I meet some strangers and they said they knew me because I usually visit the same cafe'. I dont know but its cool to have special hair style

Albertsons: I said the same thing I’m growing for donation and it’s super funny one time at a party my aunts and uncles where making fun of my hair and then when they asked me about it I just told them I was donating it to the little kids that don’t have hair and there smile went from 100-0 haha it was funny they had nothing else to sayb

Stable Stoic: Ignore my bald avatar. I started growing my hair out from very short starting in November of '18. Its shoulder length now. The awkward phase is totally worth it later. Beanies and headbands can be your best friends during this time period. I recommend investing in a good quality sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Maybe a wooden comb as well. The time to start growing probably varies by region. I live in NW Pennsylvania and beanie season runs from beginning of October to End of May generally. 8 months. That strategy wouldn't work down south in Miami where I used to live. I also grew a long beard after my last short haircut, like 10" just because I wanted to see what it looked like and what I had to work with. Long goatee turns out, not really thick enough to braid. Turns out a short well kept beard looks better on me. It was a fun experiment.

BronzeAlive: I'm regrowing out, currently, I have a disconnected undercut, and its short as hell on sides and back, my goal is to reach the man bun, and I have pretty curly hair so that's a bit of a downside but I'm gonna try to just not fight it and just keep my end goal in focus

Szpadelek: I’ve never could go through the awkward stage. I felt like shit and had to cut it off. Now I’m stronger than ever! Wish me luck

Zain Shahid: I'm in middle of my awkward stage my hair in about 4.5 inches and I'm thinking about to giving up but youtube recommend me this video. Let's continue the hair growth

supanjibobu: I have wavy hair and I've been growing my hair. I went to this stage way too early fam. My upper sides looks like an upward C lmao

Canister: I remember my awkward hair days its frustrating but hell yeah, I passed it!

legendkoala69: Started Growing From February, November Now, Most Of the awkward phase is in quarantine for me so, let's get on it win, I'm Not gonna give up

Gou Hanghal: I'm asian and have curly hair not to mention the pic on my profile was the time when i straighten it to avoid that awkward stage lol and the awkward stage was really awkward. But the result after a year was fantastic. Pressure from parents to keep it short made me to trim it down (asian parents) but I'm planning to grow it again. Guys with long hair looks pretty cool to me and I like it

Arian Mangal: I don’t really have an end goal with my long hair journey. I’m just trying to see how to manage it. I’ve been wearing hats for the past few months so I’m trying to test some stuff out.

El Rubio: “My shoulders are throwing a party...just waiting for my hair to arrive.” Thanks for the link

Jarred Jackson: I am in the late awkward stage right now, and where a beanie a lot. in about two months I should be fine. I started out with a fade and I hope that was right. Any more input on if I should trim the top which exceeds the back and sides by 4 inches, or did I start growing it correctly?

Markus G.: Thank You! That was motivating ☺ I'm in the awkward phase and the summer begins, it will be hot as hell... but fuck it.. I go for it!

Ben Fox: How do you recommend getting through that stage with curly hair? Currently if I just wash and dry my hair it goes into a fro. Pretty much the only way I can make it look okay is with moose.

Sos the Rope: The awkward stage is what I experienced with the beard, now first time in my life I'm growing my hair and discovered it's really nice. So bugger it, gonna grow it too. But another awkward stage !!!!! Damn guy, didn't want a second fight with everyone at work. But actually, I really don't give a shit what they think, I have hair they don't !

johny: I feel like I'm entering a cult.. 'May I join you brothers on the quest of carrying the legacy of the long hair ?'

Badz Sculptures: Plain and simple. just Own it then it will own you. Embrace the growth, trust the process

Kicole Nidman: My entire adult life I've been buzzing my hair off completely. If it was long enough to be affected at all by sleeping or wearing a hat it was time for a buzz. Now I'm growing it out and I can't wait for it to be long I'm trying to grow it out to my belt!

Jacob Kyner: you actually saved me so much i was gonna cut my hair kinda short in the next to days but realized i just need a trim for my split ends

Anton Haq: That awkward phase lasted a long time with me. I started growing from a style that was longer than on top, so whilst g r owing I had a long floppy fringe to play with. I also wore hats as lot, a Kangol cap or truly and this was my biggest saviour because I suit hats and it's a cool look.

Aoidos Gabriel: Started growing my hair in February I guess, still not cut...as aweful as this may seem but am glad we're quarantined XD PS: my hair grows fast holy cow XD PS2: everyone seems to admire me growing my hair tho, didn't expect it XD

Sweenes: Hi Trav, great vid again. Quick question how often should we trim our hair?

key sannack: i'm growing my hair, and to me an awkward stage is when the length of the upper hair reach the ear level and not reach my shoulder yet :)

BEVL: Great video, but I have to disagree saying your styling options run out after 3 inches, in my opinion that's exactly when the styling options start! There are so many different types of hairstyles and styling you can do
