Hey guys, Erica with the K here, today's video is going to be on gray blending. I know if there's just ton of videos that are out like this right now, and this is a thing that I've been doing for a while, and I just wanted to make a video that is just solely about gray blending. So, let's get into it okay. So this is the before you can see, there's a lot of dark color there. So I like to start from the front, because I want to make sure that it looks the most natural around the hairline and it's gon na get the lightest. There says the person that we're doing so I like to do a slice. Then I weave in weaves always make it more natural than a slice to us, and then I just take my little foil. You can use little foils for this if they have a bang and I put it as close to the root as I possibly can. I get my Lightner I'm using 20 volume. Any Lightner will do and we're not gon na tone at the end of this. So this is just going to be making sure you take out the highlights at the right time and blend it now, if you feel like the foil, is slipping a little bit, there's no harm and just lifting it back up and adding more Lightner to there and The only other thing that I want to say, that's very important, is if the desired color is already on the ends of the hair. There'S no reason to relight inthose, that's gon na over process it, so you just want to take those out like I just did when you close up that foil. So now, what we're gon na do is just do a complete mohawk in the front. Doing the exact same thing, the exact same way we're gon na slice, we're gon na weave if the foil slips we're gon na put it back up like you, see right here and then we're gon na close that foil and make sure that the ends of the Hair, if it's already at the desired color, do not get any more Lightner on it. I did get a little bit on this piece over here, but since it's not going to be in the foil, it's just gon na dry out. It'S not really a big deal. Okay, so here's just a little bit of a better look for you guys. You guys can see exactly what I'm doing. I already took the slice out now, I'm leaving again we're gon na. Do this whole things. I'M not gon na keep repeating that, but that's just what you want to do to make it as natural as possible. If you feel like some of the pieces are a little bit not as light as you want like you could see the piece, that's in the clip of those little orangey make sure you rego over that piece with the lightener, don't be afraid. You'Re not gon na over process it if it's not at the desired color that you want. Another thing I want to say is: I always use some kind of hair protectant and my Lightner, so I like to use the Zarin APS right now and it's kind of like an OLAP Lex, but only it's the first of its kind and you don't need to Bump up the developer for it, you could just use it regular. I have an entire video on that which I will link below all right. So now we're gon na just do the same thing. So please enjoy the music. So I don't sound like a broken record. So these smaller these sections, this smaller the original slice and then the thinner, the weaves - are the more natural it's gon na look and the more lift you're gon na get. If you try to put a lot of hair in one foil, it's just not gon na. Look evenly, it's not gon na look. Well, it's going to be very like patchy and just orangey, so you want to make sure that you juiced very thin, and you know very small slices. It might take you a little bit more time, but you'll get much better results in the end. I don't have a cameraman, so my arm is in a lot of the frame, but I think you guys get the idea of what I'm doing here. I like to conserve my foils to the best of my ability, so if it's a smaller piece of hair or if they have short like like layers in their hair, I like to take the foil and rip it in half. I don't have an assistant, unfortunately, to help me do that, so I do have to do it while I'm doing the hair, but another option for that. If you like to conserve the foil, is to get the reusable, I think they're called mesh or something like that. Mache, maybe I'm not sure, but I'll leave those below you guys can get those through my Amazon affiliate, link and they're reusable, so you just wash them at the end and you're just using a lot less oils, and it has the same lift the same. Even this everything it's just that you're not throwing out foils at the end, you get to reuse them. I am gon na show you how I do the sides as well, but just so you know I did a mohawk going all the way back to where you would stop a partial highlight. I didn't do the underneath, because I just think it looks more natural for somebody who's a natural brunette to not have the underneath done like that. Also, she doesn't really pick up her hair that much so we don't have to worry too much about that, but I did do the Mohawk all the way down to where you would stop a partial you so now we're gon na. Do the sides. What I like to do is a slice diagonal, and then I like to do a weave into that slice. Like I always do. I always leave the front part by the hairline out. I did that in the front you noticed, and I also do it on the sides. It just gives a more natural blend and it just doesn't look so it won't bleed and it just won't look like splotchy and fake. It looks very, very natural compared to if you were to do that first piece, especially on somebody who is not a natural blonde and then I'm just kind of hopping around over here. Just you guys can get an idea of this just slicing down doing a weave in there and then just putting that Lightner on anything that needs to be lightened and taking out everything from the foil that does not need to be lightened, and now we're gon na. Do the other side, as you can see, I did a slice. You really want to try to keep those sections as clean as possible so that it just gives a nice overall blend. That is pretty much. What hair is all about. You want to do nice sections and nice beams and slices, so there you go so here's an overview of all the foils and then this is what you want it to look like when you're about to take it out. It does have some product over it, but that's the color you want, because we're not toning it with anything. Thank you guys, so so much for love and support. Please don't forget to Like and subscribe. If you haven't already and up see you guys in my next video until next time, work hard dream, big ek, k, --, bye, guys,

Oyuki22Any: This is so incredibly helpful, as I would like to help my mom who is also transitioning to grey. Can you tell me the recipe for the mix of bleach and the toner that you used after? Thank you! :)

Miss Maxi: I would recommend having a lot less product on your brush when applying the lightener. Also taking smaller sections so your able to get closer to the roots and don’t brush past your foil as that will create bleeding.

tiffanycrystalclear: She got a lot of breakage! Encourage her to embrace her natural blended greys .. she isn’t that bad at all.. from what I can perceive she is greying blended.

Josefine Vesterlund: Would recommend to overdirect the hair section before you put the foil in, you will get closer to the scalp if you do soAnd don’t be afraid to pull the hair section so that it is really tight!

Ashley Maree: If you're starting in the front I hope ur watching it like a hawk! A stylist started on my bangs once and by the time she took it out my bangs broke completely off!

Edgar Itzol: Is it just me trying to find a video of how to go from black hair to highlights gray?

Joanie: Hi thanks for the video. I am not old but I have a ton of grey hair around my face and well everywhere. I am tired of coloring it. I have medium Brown hair so when the grey comes in you can really see it. would you recommend blending or highlighting?

Shari Lopez: I do my moms hair highlights with low lights and now she is showing a little more grey, I was wanting to switch it over to just highlights as she's a brunette naturally, would it be the same process but with toner if needed?

MamaKat: It’s sorta making me crazy that you have a big ol’ gob of product on your brush and starting at the root. I would feather up to the root for no harsh line, especially in the top. And having SO much product makes hair stick to it and get product where you don’t want it, like at the beginning.

sosyourface72: Is this something that could be done with black hair? All the videos I find are brunettes but not totally black hair. At the same time I can't find anybody saying that it won't work for very dark hair. Thanks

Pure Grace: Hello! I am allergic to hair dye. Is there a product that i can use to cover gray hair? In the last year, my hair has been slowing turning gray. My hair is a very dark brown color. I used a ppd free dye and it still irritated my scalp. I’m not ready to go all out gray just yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Lucy: Thank you for the video! Would you be able to post the name of the hair protectant you used? Thank you❤️

crackerjack4u: Her hair turned out so pretty. It's amazing what a few baby lights can do. I have a couple of questions about my own hair if you don't mind me asking. My stylist is not a bleacher lol (her words) so I did my own a couple of years ago. I'm in the process of transitioning to all gray. Right now I have about 6" of gray, and where the gray stops it joins to near platinum bleached blonde the rest of the way down past my shoulders. I've got it colored with a darker demi blonde right now, but I'm getting ready to remove the color. I'd love to add in both baby low and high lights to it to give it some definition before putting on a much lighter silver/gray toner. Is it possible to do that without causing much damage, and messing up my eventual all gray transition? Also, I'm disabled, and don't want to have a lot of maintenance or upkeep by having to redo it all the time because I have both hand and arm issues. I can also do just another solid demi color on it again like I've been doing, and just go with a lighter silver/gray color that is dark enough to cover the demarcation line, but some lights in it sure would look pretty. Which way do you suggest would be the best route to take? Thank you, and Good Job!!

Crystal&Concrete: I watched other videos and I couldn't understand why the people weren't just dying the whole head of hair because it looked like they were doing row after row after row of foils covered with bleach. Yours showed that there was a layer in between and you showed how to zigzag Within it making it more natural. I did not get that from any other videos I watched so I can't thank you enough. I am very nervous about doing this myself but I've had some bad experiences with hairdressers so for now I'd like to try it. And have a hairdresser fix it afterwards if I have to. Thank you so much. I'm glad I happened upon this video

YTFan: Can you do one on LOWLIGHTS?

pungr: Would have been helpful to see the client's face so we get the big picture.

SandyD: In my opinion the gray looked better. Highlights made it seem yellowish and unnatural. Mam, if you're reading this review, embrace your grays. They looked so beautiful.

Pat Puhlman: Your not showing the full picture at the beginning. Your camera is not showing the foil being pulled up on the bang area for your demonstration.

Annmarie Marin: I wish you had stayed longer on the shot of what the right color is while lightener was still on to see how light you need to take it before the rinse/ completion. UGH!

Gemma Holmes: Hi you should have toned to get rid of the yellow for a more sophisticated look

Rita Gaston: Why are you hitting so much of her already colored blonde hair again with the new color

Monique Sullivan: I thought this was from dark hair to a grey?

A Mac: could you have done some kind of color on the root to cover even more gray?

Nina Heart: Should have toned the hair more ashy . Those high lights are way to yellow

The Brilliant Diamond: Ok but would look better toned

Toni Benedict: Needs toner...too yellow

YouDontSeeMe603: Love how nasty and messy women are at heart ‍♀️. So many opinions on here telling this woman what she did wrong and what she needs to do. STAY IN YOUR LANE! Mind your business because this woman has got this! If she wanted your negative feedback she would had asked for suggestions. This is why men can’t stand women except for getting one thing !

LaTigra: It looks so yellow but nice explanation

Lauren Saunter: LOVE your videos girl! we need another video showing us how you color your hair at home! rand remember to wear a cape1

Janet8925: That needs some toner or shimmer lights something is doesn't blend

Jamie Gould: The yellow is still there

tanja i: Looks super great! <3 <3 <3

Hoor Beauty Saloon: Great

Carla Elisabete Guimarães Teles araujo: Dark hair? I didn't see the video

Jason Williams: That’s not grey blending it’s a blonde highlight. Would look much better toned. I would never start in the front. Technique was very beauty School basic and wrong on a few levels.
