Caps, Hats, And Wigs For Cancer Patients: Hair Loss From Chemotherapy, Feeling Confident Bald

Hello everyone in today's video I will be showing my cancer cap collection as well as the wigs that I have. Losing your hair really sucks but having so many options to help me feel confident I am so thankful for. There are so many style options when it comes to chemo caps, I love having different styles to choose from and different colours. I tried to link as many of the caps that I can but like I said in the video majority were either hand made or I purchased them at a local wig stores.

So hello, everyone welcome back to my channel or welcome if you're new, my name is becky and today's video is going to be me showing the different types of caps that i have and also my two wigs. So when you have cancer and you lose your hair, there's tons of different options available different styles of caps that you can wear, because your head does get cold with no hair and then there's also. The option of wigs wig shopping is like kind of like the fun part. If you want to call it not saying that cancer is fun at all, but anyways um today, like i said, i'm going to be showing you my chemo caps. I have quite a few and then i'm going to show you my wigs, also i'm using my new camera. So that's super exciting, so let's just get into it so this basket. These are all crocheted caps. My mom's friend shout out diane. She has been crocheting me. Hats, which i am super grateful for super thankful for and um. I ended up picking out a style that i really liked. So basically all of them are the same style just slightly different and different colors. So i'm going to show you so we got this. One has a bit of pink and purple in it. We have this one, which is looks almost the same as the last one. It just doesn't have the little bits of pink in it. It'S just straight lavender, and then we have this pink ombre one. It'S really cute. This was actually the first one that she made in this style and i just really loved this style. And then we have this darker purple, one which i really love and all of these caps, except for the last pink one that i showed they're crushed velvet. So they're super soft and really warm for those damp days. And we have this one that there's red and there's some gray in there. I actually wore this in my chemo vlog and then this gray one. This one has a massive flower on it, which i love and then there's this green one, yellow ones like the gray. One that i just showed, i think this one is my favorite. My favorite color is purple, but i'm also really liking. Yellow, and i don't know this flower is just really cute and then this one it's it's not really showing up exactly how it looks. It looks grey on camera, but in person it looks a bit beige with like some peach flecks, which i appreciate, because if you don't know, peach is the color for uterine cancers and then also yellow is for sarcomas. So maybe that's why i gravitate towards yellow and i have another basket which i'm going to show you and most of these i've been gifted or purchased myself. My mom's purchased, so we'll get right into it. First one i actually got this one today. This is called a buff. Now i'm still learning how to put it on, but there's many ways you can put it on yeah. So there it is. My favorite color is purple. If you couldn't tell so there's that one and then these ones are my favorite, especially um, going to sleep they're made out of bamboo and they're super soft, so you've probably seen me wear some of these quite a bit this one. It has lemons on it which are super cute. I love this one and, like i don't really have much of this color in my wardrobe, but like i had to get it because of the lemons and then there's this lilac light purple one, and i actually just got this one - it's black and it has little Specks, i don't know if you can see but there's some like pink polka dots, but also some like white polka dots. I think the pattern is called like starry night or something like that. I thought it was fun and it'll go with a lot of outfits. I have one in peach in that style, but i'm not sure where it is this one i actually got at the hospital and this one's supposed to have uv protection in it. So it has a little bit of a slouch, not too major, so the next ones are beanies. So i was kindly gifted these ones from a friend and they're from a small business called boo, boo, beanies i'll leave them linked down below what i really like about them is. When you purchase a beanie, you don't have to have cancer um. They donate a beanie to a child with cancer, so i think that's super cool. They also sell headbands, but i have these two beanies. So i have this one and i don't know if you can see it's a floral design, this one's super lightweight, which will be really good for the warmer months and it has quite a slouch and then this one is purple and it's double layered. So i think this one will be good for cool days and then the last style that i have is like the wraps so um you can use scarves and then there's also specific, like head wraps. So i got this one. It'S from my friend, maddie's business. I'Ll leave her business, her business instagram down below um, it's called made by maddie, so i'll just put that on so there's so many ways you can put these on. I just put this one on quickly and i'm still learning so don't judge my tying skills, but i'm gon na make a video later on when i do get practiced on how i'm gon na tie these but yeah this one's just super cute. It'S purple my favorite color last hat that i have, which was kindly gifted to me from my friend rachel in the states, shout out to rachel it's more of a winter one. So when it's really cold, i'm gon na be wearing this one a lot and i think she got it on amazon. So i will try to find the link for this one. I try to link all the hats that i can down below if you're curious. If you want to purchase one if you're also going through chemo most of them, i did purchase at wig stores or at the hospital, but i'll try um. I know that the bamboo ones are the brand jon renau, so i'll look online and see if i can find a link. So the next thing that i'm going to move into is wigs, so i am lucky enough to have been able to get two wigs. So the first wig i got at a local wig store and my friends from school shout out to medplus if you're watching this um, they kindly supported me and um, raised a fund for me to help pay for this wig, and i love this wig here. She is now my natural hair color was brown, so i really wanted to go the complete polar opposite. So this is my blonde wig. I love this one and this one is synthetic hair. So if you're not really familiar with wigs, there's three different kinds of wigs that you can get, you can get human hair, you can get synthetic or you can get a blend of human and synthetic and human hair is the most expensive like they range in, like The thousands and when i was wake shopping, the advice that i got was to go with synthetic, because one synthetic has come a long way and it looks pretty real. Like i don't know if you can tell, but i think it looks pretty real and you don't have to style it, so these curls are going to stay in the hair, no matter what it does fall out over time, but you don't have to style it like Every day - and this is a lace front wig, so as you can see, you can see my scalp, so it just makes it look a lot more realistic yeah and i really like how the roots are darker. I feel like it goes more with my eyebrows, because i think that was like my one concern when i was looking for a blonde wig that, like it would look super fake, because my eyebrows are super dark, but i think this really complements my eyebrows. So it's my first wig if you're curious. These are the stands that i have my wigs on, and this is my second wig, so the hospital that i go to um. They have a program for people that don't have coverage um and they pay for. Oh for you to get a wig, so this is her and i thought i'd get brown just in case. You know wanted something a little different, so this is the second wig, it's quite a bit shorter than the blonde. This was about the length of my hair before i lost it, and about this color too. I'Ve never not had bangs, so this is really different. For me, it's got a little bit of a curl to it too. Also another thing with the wigs um they're made differently, so this one - i don't know if you can see, there's like these layers of hair like sewn in i don't know if you can really see yeah like that. Also, this one's lace front as well, and then the blonde wig actually doesn't have those tracks, and so this wig, actually each hair was sewn in individually into the cap, and i've actually found this one to be a bit more comfortable than the brown one um. I'M sure i'll get used to both of them. I'Ve only had them for less than a month um but yeah. If that's, if you're going wig shopping, i would recommend trying on both and see. You know what you like, because i've heard that people have different preferences. Some people, like the feel of the one with the tracks and then some people like me like this one. But yes, i'm super grateful to have those wigs and they just like really give you a boost of confidence like i don't really mind the baldness, but you know some days you want to have hair and just to be able to put that on and go out And you know kind of pretend that, like you're not sick, i was talking to a social worker about this and when i was starting to lose my hair - and she said this is like kind of the first sign for people that, like really solidifies that they're sick. So having a wig is just really nice for those days that you just want to forget, and you want to feel normal for an hour so or however long you wear. It also just show you the shampoo and stuff for the wigs. I just got a shampoo and a conditioner, and yes, i labeled them which wig they're for and then for the blonde one there's a shampoo, a conditioner and this detangling spray, because it's a longer wig and then i also have combs for each of the wigs enjoyed. This video - and i hope this was helpful to anyone who is going through chemotherapy who's, just been diagnosed with cancer if you're about to lose your hair, i know what it's like and i know what it feels like. I know when i was anticipating losing my hair. I was searching all over youtube trying to find different videos on wigs on caps on literally anything that i could find. So i didn't feel alone. So hopefully, if you're going through something like that, i'm so sorry. I hope that this video was helpful, or at least gave you some comfort and, if you're not sick, and you stumble across this video or you're watching this video. I hope you learned something. Thank you so much for watching this video. If you liked it give it a like subscribe to my channel - and i will see you in the next video
