Planning a wedding in 2018? Congratulations! Weddings are a celebration of love and romance, but most brides also want their weddings to stand out for all the right reasons. The good news is, this year has delivered plenty of fun wedding trends to get excited about.

Here are some of 2018’s top trends for brides, and how you can incorporate them into your own wedding:

Fox Human Hair Mono Lace Deluxe Wig - Gisela Mayer

New Wedding Hair

2018 is the year for romantic, effortless bridal hair which is long, elegant, textured. Think tousled updos or half updos featuring long cascading curls. If you’re struggling to grow your hair to create the style you’ve envisaged, particularly if your wedding is coming up soon, then natural hair wigs are a great choice. This will give you the length and thickness you need to create this season’s hottest styles. Natural hair wigs are a better choice than synthetic ones for special occasions such as weddings, because they can be styled and curled just like your real hair; no one would ever guess that it isn’t unless you choose to tell them!

The Colour of the Season

Not sure what colour scheme to pick for your décor or your bridesmaids gowns? Picking the right colour of the dresses, napkins, and flowers will set the whole tone for your big day, so it’s important to choose wisely. Why not hop on the trend train and choose this season’s hottest colour? The Pantone colour of the year for 2018 is Ultra Violet purple, and this is the perfect shade to inject into your wedding, no matter what the season. Violet is a universally flattering colour for bridesmaids and will add depth and vibrancy to your décor. If you’re struggling to pick the right colour for you then it’s a great choice to consider.

Minimalist Gowns

With more brides than ever choosing to get married in registry offices rather than churches, and minimalist weddings earning increased Insta-fame, we are seeing a rise in brides choosing simple but chic dresses. Choose a tea length gown, keep the detail to a minimum, and focus on ensuring the perfect fit no matter what you choose to wear. In 2018, shape is much more important that fussy details: just look to Meghan Markle and her plain boat-neck gown for inspiration. The finished result should look simple, effortless, and above all stylish.

Add a Dessert Table

Struggling to choose just one flavour for your wedding cake? We have good news! 2018 is the year of the dessert table! In 2017, many brides replaced their wedding cake with macaroons, cheese wheels and even donuts. But in 2018, you no longer have to choose your favourite dessert: you can have them all! Display a beautifully curated table full of your favourite cakes and desserts, and let your guests choose which one they like best. Variety is the spice of life, and this is a great way to inject fun and variety into your wedding day.

One Tone Bouquets

The bridal bouquet has always been a great way to inject a pop of colour into an outfit that tends to be a great expanse of white. This hasn’t changed for 2018, but this year’s most fashionable bridal bouquets are built up of flowers in a single colour, rather than using different shades to build up depth and texture. Try a bouquet made entirely of lavender for a whimsical, country-style wedding, or one comprised of all your favourite red flowers (such as roses and gerbers) for a traditional and romantic feel. The one tone bouquet will make a strong statement and really stand out from the crowd. This is a great way to stop your outfit from looking too fussy, whilst still maintaining a chic and effortless feel.

Back to Black

Finally, if you want a thoroughly modern wedding then don’t dismiss the idea of adding some black elements into your big day. Black may well be an absence of colour, but it can really help an outfit (and your wedding décor) to pop, provided you don’t use too much of it.  Black can add depth and drama. It is also incredibly slimming, so if you want to instantly shed pounds why not try adding a black sash to your wedding dress? A black shrug will have a similar impact on your upper body. Black and white monochrome instantly makes any event look modern, so adding a few black accessories is a great way to update your venue and turn heads for all the right reasons.
