STEP 1: PUT YOUR HAIR UP IF NEEDED

Whether you have hair or not, you can wear a wig and wig cap. If you have hair, take the back of your hair and put it in a flat bun using bobby pins. If your hair is long you can create two buns, just want make sure that your hair is as flat as possible. If your hair is shorter, you may have to use a few more bobby pins.

STEP 2: PUT ON A WIG CAP

Use a basic nylon or mesh cap that is closest to the base color of the hair on the wig, this is important in case the wig slips.

You don’t want to see the wig cap!

Hold the front of the wig cap to the front of your hair line and stretch the wig cap back over your head. Then work your hair under the cap from front to back. You can use a rat tail comb or your fingers to tuck all the hair on the sides and back underneath – whatever you find most comfortable. If you have an open-end wig cap, you can take the top part and just fold it inward. Always make sure that your wig cap is at your natural hair line.

STEP 3: PUT ON A WIG

Once your wig cap is in place, it’s time to put on a wig. Hold your wig in the nape area of your head and place the front edge of the wig base to the front edge of your wig cap. Gently apply your wig from front to back. With lace pieces you want to make sure that you are very gentle when you are putting them on. Make sure that your piece is right at your natural hair line and make sure that you don’t have the lace tucked under.

STEP 4: ADJUST OUR WIG

Each of our Aderans Hair Goods wigs has a small piece of bendable wire on each side, these are ear tabs. Make sure to keep your ear tabs flat to the head in the temple area. If you wear eye wear you can contour the ear tabs of your wig so that you can easily slip your eyewear on. When you apply your wig, make sure the nape piece on the back of your wig is not folded under. Run your fingers across the bottom of the back of your wig to make sure that it’s comfortable and flat. The back of your wig should contour to the back of the neck right underneath the occipital bone. When you place your wig on the back will naturally fall where it needs to but you don’t want to pull your wig too far down. If the nape piece is too far down, your wig will move when you move, so find a place where the back of wig is most comfortable.

STEP 5: SECURE YOUR WIG AS NEEDED

After applying your wig, if you feel like you want to secure it, take a few bobby pins and secure your wig on the sides. Make sure you are pinning wig foundation to your wig cap and also check to make sure the bobby pins are hidden – this will secure your wig in place. This application is the same for someone who has hair and for someone who doesn’t have hair.
