Autumn is officially here, and with the milder weather and of course the lack of humidity, people can really get creative with the wig styles they wear. With the right styling advice, you can adapt your everyday wig to your preference and unlock a more versatile look, just as you would with your natural hair.

So without further ado, here are 7 wig-friendly hairstyles that you can play with this season and beyond!

1. The classic beehive

Armed with just a wig brush, you can add volume wherever you need it on your synthetic or human hair wig. Simply use your brush to tease the underside of each layer of fibres. Smooth the top of the hair as you go and finish with a spritz of wig spray to set your new, voluminous style.

This technique will pave the way for a variety of styles, including the classic beehive. For super-short wig styles, adding volume can create a cutting edge, standout pixie crop.

2. The half up, half down

The half-up, half-down, or ‘half up bouffant’ as it’s also known, is a great option if you can’t choose between a voluminous and sleek look.

All Things Hair details how to get the look, just be sure to use wig safe products when recreating this iconic style at home:

“To create this look, start by using the Toni&Guy Flawless Finish Straightener to produce soft waves, before horizontally dividing your hair into 2 sections. Now tease the top section and lightly brush it, gathering it at the back and twisting it inwards towards your head. Secure discreetly with hairpins and finish with a touch of TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray for a longer-lasting style.”

3. The headband tuck

Keep your hair under control, even in blustery weather, with the headband tuck. All you need is a regular, stretchy headband to get started. Simply roll and tuck your wig hair into the headband, and loosen were required to create an easy-peasy signature style.

4. The high pony

We recently named our ponytail hairpieces as one of the autumn accessories wig wearers shouldn’t be without.

With a ponytail hairpiece, you can create a sleek, on-trend look in seconds. Recreating this look at home really is as simple as clipping and going! Our ponytail hairpieces are super secure thanks to their circular bases and easy fix snap-comb locks, meaning you can enjoy this fabulous style all day long.

5. The top knot

Our ponytail hairpieces can also be used to create a beautiful top knot. Clip-in your hairpiece as normal and gently twist into a high bun. It’s the perfect hairstyle for working out, for the office or those crisp autumn walks.

6. The double bun

Why not double up your top knots to create a cute double bun design? You can make your hairstyle even more sophisticated by braiding the buns or curling your wig before styling.

7. The loose (heatless) curls

Whether you have human hair or synthetic wig, you can still enjoy an effortless, natural curly look this season.

It’s easier to place your wig on a stand to create this style. Make sure your wig is clean and tangle-free before you begin, ideally you should style it into curls after washing your wig. Divide the hair into sections, attach the roller to the end of the hair, and wind up towards the base.

Let the wig air dry, then remove the rollers and set with styling or wig hairspray. Brush your curls through with your fingertips to loosen.
