Hey everyone, its Holly, welcome back to smart mouth beauty, and today is Friday. I know it's a little weird that you only have me on a Friday, but you're gon na understand this coming Monday when we Heather and I are gon na release - something really special. So that just means you get me on a raw on Friday. Instead of our formal Heather and Holly Day on Friday, stay tuned for Monday, there's going to be something really special that we are releasing on Monday and you'll find out why on Monday, but today uh, you know what I thought I would share with you guys. My second day, hair routine, so a lot of times we talk about our I I talk about since I'm the hairdresser. I talk about not washing your hair every day and some people are like. Oh wait. I have to wash my hair every single day and I am with you, I am with you, so I transitioned to washing my hair every other day and sometimes now I can even get that third day. You can train your scalp to producing less oil and it will be difficult. I'M not saying that that's gon na be easy. If someone can take a two-week vacation and retrain their scalp, then that would be ideal, but we can't do that. So if you can just do it like one day at a time like for one solid year, train your scalp to go one extra day if you're an everyday washer, then that would mean every other day if you're in every other other day, washer. That just makes sense then go that third day or keep training for one more day out. Those of us who have not us not me clearly, those of you who have really thick a tight, cuticle, hair and dry scalp. I have clients like that who go four days five days now. That does not mean that we don't bathe or shower. I definitely will put my hair up and shower and or take a bath or whatever I need to do to stay clean, but today I'm coming at you. I had tied my hair up this morning to do my makeup, and so I want to kind of show you what I'm gon na do on that second day morning and honestly. Actually, today is Wednesday. I washed my hair Monday night after dance class, and so I blew it dry Monday night before I went to bed because I don't like to go to bed with wet head. It'S a whole other thing so Tuesday morning I woke up and I styled my hair. So today is Wednesday morning, so I'm going to show you what how I'm gon na recover my hair so that I can go to work here in a little bit. So I just want to kind of walk you through that process and show you what I do and I don't know. Maybe this is what you can do do so um my hair is up. I haven't even brushed it, but I have a few thing. I'M in my hair salon, but I have a few things in front of me - that I'm gon na show you. I do have my flat iron plugged in it's at 390 degrees, and I do have a video on how I use this flat iron to make curls. So maybe I'll link that down below or it's in a hair playlist. If you go to our playlists, then you'll see that I do have a dry, shampoo, big fan of dry shampoo, and I really use this every day. I don't wait until my hair is oily. I kind of do a preemptive strike. You know kind of that preventative before it gets oily because once it's oily, then there's no amount of dry, shampoo or baby powder or anything that's gon na you know help that this one is, I think I got it from Walgreens. It'S called love, beauty and planet volume and bounty day to dry shampoo. I think I got it at Walgreens, I don't know, but I'm loving it. So I have that in front of me. I have my trusty hair sprays, my favorite hair spray in the whole world. It'S call it's from you smooth, it's a you and then smooth and I get the firm and actually there's a firm and then there's an extra firm which it should just be a regular and firm. But anyway the firm is what I like street cleaning outside. I was just distracted, okay, so that's what I have in front of me. I also have from the Maui Line Maui moisture. It is a coconut mist spray. So I will show you how I use that I do have my hairbrush. I have a teasing brush and a comb in front of me. So let's get started so really I just nodded my hair up. I haven't brushed it. This is what its gon na look like, but I start from kind of the underneath. I think I need to back y'all up back it up. Is that better yeah? So I just kind of start from the underneath and at the bottom and kind of get all of this out and I did curl it like. I told you yesterday morning I did curl it, so I might not even need to curl it and then I'm gon na like rake through the top a little bit I might curl it. Who knows I'm looking in the mirror? That'S when I'm looking at it. This way, I've got you all in front of my mirror, so I'm gon na do like from Temple to Temple and lift that up shake it. My dry shampoo and go right on that part line, and then I'm gon na drop that and I'm gon na come up and do a horseshoe shape, horseshoe shape. You go right along that part line and then I'm gon na do one more time. So I'm gon na do it real small, like I'm pulling up what my mohawk would be kind of this Mohawk areas. What I call it kind of let that dry, and sometimes, if I get sweaty kind of at night around here, I can go in and hit that, but just very just very little and then what I do is I start to circle up under there, starting at That for first horseshoe shape area and then come up to that second horseshoe shape area, and then I come on the top. You have to activate dry shampoo, sometimes if I'm really stretching it like, if it's a day off or Sunday, I really just don't want to wash my hair, but I have to like leave the house to get the grocery or some kind of annoying tasks like that. I will actually apply the dry shampoo before I do my makeup and kind of let it sit. While I'm doing my makeup or I will again preemptive strike and put it on the night before, but you have to kind of activate it. At least I do like to go in at it alright, so that is my dry shampoo situation now I think I am going to wreak Earle. Some of this looks a little sloppy right there. So let me grab a clip. I'M going to do another part of Horseshoe kind of parting and clip all that up. So I have this much hair down and I'm gon na take really big pieces, since it's already curled, I'm just gon na kind of give it a little bit of a twist, and I do have a video on how I curl my hair with a flat iron. So I'm not gon na go into great detail about this. This is just a Refresh curl and I'm taking pretty big pieces. I would say yesterday when I curled it, I took pretty small pieces, so I'm just kind of fine-tuning some details here and there are days that I will really purposely curl. It really tight so that I can get another full day of curl wear out of it, and sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't it would. It will depend on if I had gone to dance class and or how steamy my bath was cuz. If I clip it up and take a bath or a shower, even though I'm not getting my hair wet, there's still steam, there's still moisture in the air, you know. So I try to take like a quick bath or a quick shower. So I've just pulled my Mohawk area up and I'm just gon na grab. Some of this see that section still looks okay, so I'm going to kind of grab a section. That'S sloppy see how that's kind of like I'm, going to split that that's kind of a lazier curl and I'm curling this away. From my face, see that's better. You have to kind of just assess situation depending on what you want. Your hair look like, but this is just an easy way to just perk it back up, see that looks fine, it's this sign. That looks sloppy, doesn't it and it could be because I'm letting my my color fade because I'm gon na change it I'm thinking about changing it. What do you all think? I know I know I like the purple too, but it's been over a year. It has been over a year, and I know some of you all are gon na argue with me. No one has it: it's been different shades of purple. Well, that's because I like the I like to fade. You know some clients will come in after six weeks. You know like they're coming every six weeks and they will think it looks different and I'm not I'm not doubting that it looks different but they'll say: oh, you colored your hair again, I'm like no and they're like oh, but it looks different yeah. That'S because it's faded, since the last time I've seen you but I sort of like that idea. I like the journey of the fade and as you can tell I sort of have this ombre situation where it's kind of like darker purple over here and it's kind of fading into light. And that's because the last time that I did my regrowth touch-up, I didn't pull it all the way down through. So I only applied it. You know on that root section. I guess I hate the word root. I think it sounds so weird regrowth section. I only applied the dark purple on my regrowth section, okay, so getting to the top. I am gon na like part out this back piece and kind of give it a little tease, I'm gon na bump it and I'm going to recur, lit I'm gon na. Let that stand up bumpit recur lit. I'M excited for you all to see the video on Monday, though it's something that we've never done before, so I hope that you all will have fun with it. We had a lot of fun with it. I'M excited about it all right. So as I'm coming to the front, so here's my front piece, I'm gon na see where it kind of wants to live. Today you saw that, didn't you. That'S that's really my natural part. Sometimes I will fudge it and try to like force that in the middle, but I think that's where it's gon na be living today, so I'm just gon na flip that back a lot of times just refreshing those front face. You know the the face framing pieces. It'S just enough, I probably could have gotten away with just that. You get away with what you want to get away with okay hair spray and then I'm gon na brush it I'm brushing it. I know that scares a lot of people always like. Oh, that's gon na create fit frizz well, but you have to know your own hair and my hair works better. I need a little bit of frizz because it will lay so flat that I need a little bit of frizz. I don't mind, so I'm brushing it. Let'S look at the back, so I've got a little split that sometimes happens right there and that's so normal. Look at that! That'S normal for everyone! So I am going to fix that because that's like that's my big pet peeve, so I'm gon na kind of lift that up. If, if your split happens like here, you have to pick up both sides of it you're gon na like tease it together. So I happen to know exactly where my split is so: I'm gon na just put my comb in and press down to kind of like get those pieces together and I'm gon na hairspray it and then just press one more time and then that way you can Kind of open that up so I'm this is where this comb comes, that I'm gon na put it in and shake it and smooth that over now see I can work. I can work with that that I can deal with you better lock that in okay, so I kind of work with this front piece next and I'll spray, my hands and kind of come up and under and to create that little Ridge that I want. So I'm spraying my fingers and apparently I'm spraying, my phone doing it for you guys, so I'm gon na kind of sculpt that in today let's do the other side and never it never comes out symmetrical. But it's got a little something's spring. My fingers kind of work that in okay. Lastly, is my coconut oil mist, put it in my hands: I'm gon na grab 50 % and down and kind of smooth over that. So that looks less frizzy and I think this is it. I'M gon na go to work. This is good enough for work. Well, thanks for hanging out with me on a Wednesday, or this is a Friday. Does that look sloppy still isn't this? Isn'T this the piece that we were gon na correct either get I better get it cuz, that's gon na irritate me the whole day. Just because I do here didn't mean the hair is perfect, but I'm hoping that you all can work with some dry shampoo, find one that you love, find one that works with you. I do have a dry shampoo. We have a battle of the dry shampoo video that I will link below that might be kind of fun that might just stick up the day the whole day, I'll spray, it spray it and leave it okay, so I hope this was fun for you. I can't wait to see you on Monday for our special video and I will link a hair playlist and let me know if you can go two days or three days. My push is three days, so this is my second day hair. We'Ll see what happens tomorrow when I wake up, I might have to wash it depending on. What'S going on, but yeah second day, hair, not bad a few products. A few tricks see you later bye.

Lil Bit: I am SO glad you did this video! I've gotten dry shampoo several times in various subscription/sample size boxes and usually give them away. Now I actually know how easy it is to use! Thank you for the excellent information and perfect timing!!

Kristina S: Thanks for sharing these tips. You're so quick at curling your hair. I'm excited for Monday's video! Have a great weekend!

SandraO811: Great video! I also have a back split in the same spot cuz of 3 cowlicks! I’ve been teasing that spot for years! thanks for validating my methods! Lol!

Lisa Beets: I can get by with washing my hair twice a week. One of the benefits of getting older, I guess ☺️. I also don’t like to use a lot of product (it recently took me 5 years to go through a can of hairspray ) so that probably helps, too.

Laura Fultz: I've had dark purple hair for over three years. I tried going back to brown once, and hated it. I didn't feel like "me". I vote you do what you want, but purple has my heart.

Sonia Smith: Thanks for the video, great ideas. I have never thought to use hairspray on my hands then sculpt the front sections. I will be trying that out!

Emily Davis: Thanks for this video! I've got to train my hair to go a day or two between washing, but it's hard with natural curls. Any suggestions there? I can get a second day when I've smoothed my hair out. If you want another good drug store dry shampoo, try the new Herbal Essence white grapefruit and mimosa mint. It smells so good and doesn't leave my scalp itchy. Also, have you heard the tip about applying the dry shampoo at night? Does it work?

C Ocasio: Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!

Rachael V: I used to be a daily hair washer and about 5 years ago transitioned to every other day. Like you I can sometimes get 3 days. However dry shampoo really dried out my scalp and made it really flaky and itchy. I stopped using it and just have to pull my hair up on day two. Any recommendations?

Katherine Pokorny: your hair looks awesome! the transition with fade make it look more natural. What does Frosting hair mean?

Tammy Williams: Great video. Can't wait for Monday!!!

samantha: You have the best hair no matter what!

shannonlynnmomof3: Love your videos! Looking forward to Monday’s video. What’s up with the split in back, why does that happen, cowlick? Happens to me also.

Laura Butler: Any advice for thinning hair (female pattern baldness)? I've been tested for every possible other reason for thinning and that is what the Dr.and dermatologist left me with. I use rogaine and it helps but only a little. Already take hair growth supplements as well. I am nervous because I am only 44yrs old and no one else in my family history has it. I also tried toppik hair fibers and they work but I feel like the shedding increased after using it.

Kristi Lehman: I’ve been using Redken NBD and going to sleep with damp hair and I’ve waking up with be achy waves in my straight hair. But your comment about sleeping with wet hair scared me. Help!

fitnessneeds: What hair brush do you use?

Shirlene Higbie: Oh yes.... Dry Shampoo...... A couple of years ago ... someone said " Use Dry Shampoo and you can go a couple of extra days more between shampoos " .... so sure why not.... ? Well I did just that and it clogged up my hair follicles and my hair started falling out at the roots....and now --- as it has continued I am nearly bald.... Oh Yes Something to think about.... Thanks for sharing .... Hugs ........ Shirlene
